Environmental isotopes including \({\updelta }^{18}\)O, \({\updelta }^{2}\)H and \(^{3}\)H of precipitation, streams and springs were determined in the mountainous Bringi catchment of Kashmir Himalaya, dominated by carbonate lithology. The isotopic signature of winter precipitation is reflected in stream and spring water in late spring and is, therefore, representative of snow melting. The spring waters in September bear the enriched isotopic signatures of summer rainfall. The strong correlation (\(r^{2} = 0.97\)) between the isotopic composition of streams and springs indicates the streams and springs either share similar catchments or the springs are recharged by the streams. Chloride mass balance and isotopic mass balance studies suggest that the surface recharge component averages 337.35 m\(^{3}\)/s, which is about 75% of total stream discharge during the high flow period. Similarly, the contribution of surface water to groundwater recharge during the low flow period averages 7.5 m\(^{3}\)/s, which is about 18.6% of total stream flow. Furthermore, the mean residence time of the springs calculated from the tritium decay equation is very short (<1 year). The residence time is longer for Kongamnag and short for Achabalnag, which is further supported by dye testing.  相似文献

The pressure–volume–temperature (PVT) relation of CaIrO3 post-perovskite (ppv) was measured at pressures and temperatures up to 8.6 GPa and 1,273 K, respectively, with energy-dispersive synchrotron X-ray diffraction using a DIA-type, cubic-anvil apparatus (SAM85). Unit-cell dimensions were derived from the Le Bail full profile refinement technique, and the results were fitted using the third-order Birth-Murnaghan equation of state. The derived bulk modulus \( K_{T0} \) at ambient pressure and temperature is 168.3 ± 7.1 GPa with a pressure derivative \( K_{T0}^{\prime } \) = 5.4 ± 0.7. All of the high temperature data, combined with previous experimental data, are fitted using the high-temperature Birch-Murnaghan equation of state, the thermal pressure approach, and the Mie-Grüneisen-Debye formalism. The refined thermoelastic parameters for CaIrO3 ppv are: temperature derivative of bulk modulus \( (\partial K_{T} /\partial T)_{P} \) = ?0.038 ± 0.011 GPa K?1, \( \alpha K_{T} \) = 0.0039 ± 0.0001 GPa K?1, \( \left( {\partial K_{T} /\partial T} \right)_{V} \) = ?0.012 ± 0.002 GPa K?1, and \( \left( {\partial^{2} P/\partial T^{2} } \right)_{V} \) = 1.9 ± 0.3 × 10?6 GPa2 K?2. Using the Mie-Grüneisen-Debye formalism, we obtain Grüneisen parameter \( \gamma_{0} \) = 0.92 ± 0.01 and its volume dependence q = 3.4 ± 0.6. The systematic variation of bulk moduli for several oxide post-perovskites can be described approximately by the relationship K T0  = 5406.0/V(molar) + 5.9 GPa.  相似文献

We calculated the phase diagram of \(\hbox {AlPO}_{4}\) up to 15 GPa and 2,000 K and investigated the thermodynamic properties of the high-pressure phases. The investigated phases include the berlinite, moganite-like, \(\hbox {AlVO}_{4},\, P2_1/c\), and \(\hbox {CrVO}_{4}\) phases. The computational methods used include density functional theory, density functional perturbation theory, and the quasiharmonic approximation. The investigated thermodynamic properties include the thermal equation of state, isothermal bulk modulus, thermal expansivity, and heat capacity. With increasing pressure, the ambient phase berlinite transforms to the moganite-like phase, and then to the \(\hbox {AlVO}_{4}\) and \(P2_1/c\) phases, and further to the \(\hbox {CrVO}_{4}\) phase. The stability fields of the \(\hbox {AlVO}_{4}\) and \(P2_1/c\) phases are similar in pressure but different in temperature, as the \(\hbox {AlVO}_{4}\) phase is stable at low temperatures, whereas the \(P2_1/c\) phase is stable at high temperatures. All of the phase relationships agree well with those obtained by quench experiments, and they support the stabilities of the moganite-like, \(\hbox {AlVO}_{4}\), and \(P2_1/c\) phases, which were not observed in room-temperature compression experiments.  相似文献

The numerical model proposed in this paper represents a new method in predicting initial karst spatial distribution of carbonate aquifers. Karstification Index, \( \varPhi_{\text{K}} \), is a measure of the possible largest amount of calcite that can be dissolved from a unit area of rock and transported by groundwater flow during a unit length of time. Mathematically, it is defined as \( \varPhi_{\text{K}} = q \cdot s \), where q is the flux of groundwater and s is the rock solubility; and Karstification Index, \( \varPhi_{\text{K}} \), is the function of flow, heat, and calcium concentration. The numerical model simulates the time- and space-dependent susceptibility to, and process of, karstification by iterative calculations between \( \varPhi_{\text{K}} \) and hydraulic conductivity. A sample calculation is presented on a hypothetical limestone plateau with steep escarpment, a spring, and a river on one side, a vertical no flow boundary on the other side, and a horizontal impermeable base. The rock has an equivalent porous-medium hydraulic conductivity of K?=?5E?8 ms?1, which is characteristic to non-karstified limestone. Initially, the spring is located at the intersection of the water table and the escarpment’s face some distance above the river. The simulation result showed that the water table is lowered in 2325 years across the plateau, but the spring’s drop is stopped after 65 years. Karstification is most intensive along the water table due to the higher value of Karstification Index which resulted from the intensive flux of the water. The continual decline of the water table results in a laterally elongated and progressively expanding body of karstified rock and finally as a horizontal conduit at river level. The concentration of Ca2+ and conduit diameter decrease from the spring toward the impermeable vertical wall on the opposite side and downward to the base of the plateau. The results are consistent with general theories and empirical observations of karst and cave evolution.  相似文献

In the present study, a series of resonant column tests was performed to determine the influence of confining pressure, shear strain and relative density on the dynamic properties and Poisson's ratio of poorly graded clean sand. The tests were performed on the sand specimens of size 50 × 100 mm compacted at relative densities 30, 50 and 75 %. To achieve the corresponding relative density, sand was compacted in 5 equal layers with a specific number of blows. A fixed-free type resonant column apparatus was used to determine the dynamic soil properties at various confining pressures. It has been inferred from the data that the shear modulus (\(G\)) increases with an increase in confining pressure and relative density; and decreases with an increase in shear strain. In addition, damping ratio (\(D\)) decreases with an increase in confining pressure and relative density; and increases with an increase in shear strain. In addition, Poisson’s ratio (\(\nu\)) decreases with an increase in confining pressure and relative density and increases with an increase in the shear strain. The variation of shear modulus with Poisson’s ratio is also discussed. It has been found that there has been a decrease in shear modulus with an increase in Poisson’s ratio of the soil. It is noticed that the small strain shear modulus determined from the present study closely matches with the value determined using the correlations from the literature.  相似文献

Here we report new paleomagnetic results and precise paleopole position of the extensional study on \(\sim \)2367 Ma mafic giant radiating dyke swarm in the Dharwar craton, southern India. We have sampled 29 sites on 12 dykes from NE–SW Karimnagar–Hyderabad dykes and Dhone–Gooty sector dykes, eastern Dharwar craton to provide unambiguous paleomagnetism evidence on the spectacular radiating dyke swarm and thereby strengthening the presence of single magmatic event at \(\sim \)2367 Ma. A total of 158 samples were subjected to detailed alternating field and thermal demagnetization techniques and the results are presented here along with previously reported data on the same dyke swarm. The remanent magnetic directions are showing two components, viz., seven sites representing four dykes show component (A) with mean declination of \(94{{}^{\circ }}\) and mean inclination of \(-\,70{{}^{\circ }}\) (\(\hbox {k}=87\), \(\upalpha _{95}=10{{}^{\circ }}\)) and corresponding paleopole at \(16{{}^{\circ }}\hbox {N}\), \(41{{}^{\circ }}\hbox {E}\) (\(\hbox {dp}=15{{}^{\circ }}\) and \(\hbox {dm}=17{{}^{\circ }}\)) and 22 sites representing 8 dykes yielded a component (B) with mean declination of \(41{{}^{\circ }}\) and mean inclination of \(-\,21{{}^{\circ }}\) (\(\hbox {k}=41\), \(\upalpha _{95}=9{{}^{\circ }}\)) with a paleopole at \(41{{}^{\circ }}\hbox {N}\), \(200{{}^{\circ }}\hbox {E}\) (\(\hbox {dp}=5{{}^{\circ }}\) and \(\hbox {dm}=10{{}^{\circ }}\)). Component (A) results are similar to the previously reported directions from the \(\sim \)2367 Ma dyke swarm, which have been confirmed fairly reliably to be of primary origin. The component (B) directions appear to be strongly overprinted by the 2080 Ma event. The grand mean for the primary component (A) combined with earlier reported studies gives mean declination of \(97{{}^{\circ }}\) and mean inclination of \(-\,79{{}^{\circ }}\) (\(\hbox {k}=55\), \(\upalpha _{95}=3{{}^{\circ }}\)) with a paleopole at \(15{{}^{\circ }}\hbox {N}\), \(57{{}^{\circ }}\hbox {E}\) (\(\hbox {dp}=5{{}^{\circ }}\), \(\hbox {dm}=6{{}^{\circ }}\)). Paleogeographical position for the Dharwar craton at \(\sim \)2367 Ma suggests that there may be a chance to possible spatial link between Dharwar dykes of Dharwar craton (India), Widgemooltha and Erayinia dykes of Yilgarn craton (Australia), Sebanga Poort Dykes of Zimbabwe craton (Africa) and Karelian dykes of Kola-Karelia craton (Baltica Shield).  相似文献

Fission-track dating was conducted on zircons and apatites from 11 cores of the upper Xiaganchaigou Formation and lower Shangganchaigou Formation (northwestern Qaidam Basin). The obtained apatite fission-track age is 3.1–61.9 Ma, and the zircon fission-track age is 49.2–123.5 Ma. Although the average apatite age is consistent with ages predicted from the stratigraphy, nine of the 11 apatite fission-track ages have \(\hbox {P}(\upchi ^{2}) < 5\%\), indicating that the grains experienced heterogeneous annealing after sedimentation. The average zircon age is greater than that indicated by stratigraphy, and all eight zircon fission ages have \(\hbox {P}(\upchi ^{2})>5\%\), exhibiting consistent characteristics and indicating that zircons retain provenance age information after burial. From the zircon and apatite ages, the fission-track length distribution, and the geological setting, the northwestern Qaidam Basin has experienced two tectonothermal events since the Late Mesozoic, at \(39.1 \pm 9.3\) to \(133.7\,\pm \,6.6\,\hbox {Ma}\) and \(1.2 \pm 0.6\) to \(32.0\,\pm \,3.0\,\hbox {Ma}\). The earlier (39.1–133.7 Ma) tectonothermal event resulted from the initial collision of the Indian and Eurasian plates. As a consequence of the collision, the Altyn Tagh fault, which forms the northwestern boundary of the Qaidam Basin, began to develop. Subsequently, uplift of the Altyn Tagh mountains began and the northwestern depression of the Qaidam Basin started to form. The later (1.2–32.0 Ma) tectonothermal event resulted from further collision of the Indian and Eurasian plates along the Yarlung Tsangpo suture zone. Strata in the Qaidam Basin were further deformed by transpression in this period and this period played a crucial role in petroleum accumulation.  相似文献

The purpose of this study is to assess the groundwater quality and identify the processes that control the groundwater chemistry in a crystalline aquifer. A total of 72 groundwater samples were collected during pre- and post-monsoon seasons in the year 2014 in a semi-arid region of Gooty Mandal, Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh, India. The study utilized chemometric analysis like basic statistics, Pearson’s correlation coefficient (r), principal component analysis (PCA), Gibbs ratio, and index of base exchange to understand the mechanism of controlling the groundwater chemistry in the study area. The results reveal that groundwater in the study area is neutral to slightly alkaline in nature. The order of dominance of cations is Na+ > Ca2+ > Mg2+ > K+ while for anions, it is \( {\mathrm{HCO}}_3^{-}>{\mathrm{Cl}}^{-} \)>\( {\mathrm{NO}}_3^{-} \)>\( {\mathrm{SO}}_4^{2-} \)>\( {\mathrm{CO}}_3^{2-}>{\mathrm{F}}^{-} \) in both seasons. Based on the Piper classification, most of the groundwater samples are identified as of sodium bicarbonate (\( {\mathrm{Na}}^{+}-{\mathrm{HCO}}_3^{-}\Big) \) type. According to the results of the principal component analysis (PCA), three factors and two factors were identified pre and post monsoon, respectively. The present study indicates that the groundwater chemistry is mostly controlled by geogenic processes (weathering, dissolution, and ion exchange) and some extent of anthropogenic activities.  相似文献

We report the results of experiments designed to separate the effects of temperature and pressure from liquid composition on the partitioning of Ni between olivine and liquid, \(D_{\text{Ni}}^{\text{ol/liq}}\). Experiments were performed from 1300 to 1600 °C and 1 atm to 3.0 GPa, using mid-ocean ridge basalt (MORB) glass surrounded by powdered olivine in graphite–Pt double capsules at high pressure and powdered MORB in crucibles fabricated from single crystals of San Carlos olivine at one atmosphere. In these experiments, pressure and temperature were varied in such a way that we produced a series of liquids, each with an approximately constant composition (~12, ~15, and ~21 wt% MgO). Previously, we used a similar approach to show that \(D_{\text{Ni}}^{\text{ol/liq}}\) for a liquid with ~18 wt% MgO is a strong function of temperature. Combining the new data presented here with our previous results allows us to separate the effects of temperature from composition. We fit our data based on a Ni–Mg exchange reaction, which yields \(\ln \left( {D_{\text{Ni}}^{\text{molar}} } \right) = \frac{{ -\Delta _{r(1)} H_{{T_{\text{ref}} ,P_{\text{ref}} }}^{ \circ } }}{RT} + \frac{{\Delta _{r(1)} S_{{T_{\text{ref}} ,P_{\text{ref}} }}^{ \circ } }}{R} - \ln \left( {\frac{{X_{\text{MgO}}^{\text{liq}} }}{{X_{{{\text{MgSi}}_{ 0. 5} {\text{O}}_{ 2} }}^{\text{ol}} }}} \right).\) Each subset of constant composition experiments displays roughly the same temperature dependence of \(D_{\text{Ni}}^{\text{ol/liq}}\) (i.e.,\(-\Delta _{r(1)} H_{{T_{\text{ref}} ,P_{\text{ref}} }}^{ \circ } /R\)) as previously reported for liquids with ~18 wt% MgO. Fitting new data presented here (15 experiments) in conjunction with our 13 previously published experiments (those with ~18 wt% MgO in the silicate liquid) to the above expression gives \(-\Delta _{r(1)} H_{{T_{\text{ref}} ,P_{\text{ref}} }}^{ \circ } /R\) = 3641 ± 396 (K) and \(\Delta _{r(1)} S_{{T_{\text{ref}} ,P_{\text{ref}} }}^{ \circ } /R\) = ? 1.597 ± 0.229. Adding data from the literature yields \(-\Delta _{r(1)} H_{{T_{\text{ref}} ,P_{\text{ref}} }}^{ \circ } /R\) = 4505 ± 196 (K) and \(\Delta _{r(1)} S_{{T_{\text{ref}} ,P_{\text{ref}} }}^{ \circ } /R\) = ? 2.075 ± 0.120, a set of coefficients that leads to a predictive equation for \(D_{\text{Ni}}^{\text{ol/liq}}\) applicable to a wide range of melt compositions. We use the results of our work to model the melting of peridotite beneath lithosphere of varying thickness and show that: (1) a positive correlation between NiO in magnesian olivine phenocrysts and lithospheric thickness is expected given a temperature-dependent \(D_{\text{Ni}}^{\text{ol/liq}} ,\) and (2) the magnitude of the slope for natural samples is consistent with our experimentally determined temperature dependence. Alternative processes to generate the positive correlation between NiO in magnesian olivines and lithospheric thickness, such as the melting of olivine-free pyroxenite, are possible, but they are not required to explain the observed correlation of NiO concentration in initially crystallizing olivine with lithospheric thickness.  相似文献

We have studied the attenuation characteristics of eastern Himalaya and southern Tibet by using local earthquake data set that consists of 123 well-located events, recorded by the Himalayan Nepal Tibet Seismic Experiment operated during 2001–2003. We have used single backscattering model to calculate frequency-dependent values of coda Q (\(Q_\mathrm{c}\)). The estimation of \(Q_\mathrm{c}\) is made at central frequencies 2, 4, 8 and 12 Hz through five lapse time windows from 10 to 50 s starting at double the travel time of the S-wave. The observed \(Q_\mathrm{c}\) is found to be strongly frequency-dependent and follows a similar trend as observed in other tectonically active parts of the Himalaya. The trend of variation of \(Q_\mathrm{c}\) with lapse time and the corresponding apparent depths is also studied. Increase in \(Q_\mathrm{c}\) values with the lapse time suggests that the deeper part of the study region is less heterogeneous than the shallower part. The observed values of \(Q_0\) (\(Q_\mathrm{c}\) at 1 Hz) and frequency parameter n indicate that the medium beneath the study area is highly heterogeneous and tectonically very active. A regionalization of the estimated \(Q_0\) is carried out, and a contour map is prepared for the whole region. Some segments of Lesser Himalaya and Sub-Himalaya exhibit very low \(Q_0\) , while the whole Tethyan Himalaya and some parts of Greater Himalaya are characterized by low \(Q_0\) values. Our results are comparable with those obtained from tectonically active regions in the world.  相似文献

The soil organic carbon (SOC) was determined in 40 sites at two depths (0–10 and 10–20 cm) for different uses of soil during one year (February 2014–February 2015). The total SOC stored in the analysed soil from the Ramsar site was \(9{,}67 \times 10^{5}\) t, from which 40% was stored in induced pasture, followed by the red oak forest with shrubbery secondary vegetation, rain-fed agriculture and human settlements (24%, 23%, and 13%, respectively); the last was evaluated to determine how the proximity of the city impacts the SOC. The SOC concentrations present significant differences with respect to soil depth (\(p=0.0\)) and land use (\(p=0.0\)). The temporal distribution maps showed that SOC did not present significant variations in the short-term. A relation between SOC and bulk density was found (\(r = -0.654\), \(p=0.00\)), with respect to other physicochemical properties. Moreover, a significant relation between SOC and stored total nitrogen (\(r = 0.585\); \(p = 0.00\)) was found. This work represents the first study that analyses the current condition of the soils in the Ramsar site ‘Presa Manuel Ávila Camacho’.  相似文献

Investigations were undertaken into the quality of surface water and groundwater bodies within the Upper Tigris Basin in Turkey to determine their suitability for potable and agricultural use. In the study area, the majority of the groundwater and surface water samples belong to the calcium–magnesium–bicarbonate type (Ca–Mg–HCO3) or magnesium–calcium–bicarbonate type (Mg–Ca–HCO3). Chemical analysis of all water samples shows that the mean cation concentrations (in mg/L) were in the order Ca2+ > Mg2+ > Na+ > K+ and that of anions are in the order \( \text{HCO}_{3}^{ - } \) > \( \text{SO}_{4}^{2 - } \) > Cl? > \( \text{CO}_{3}^{ - } \) for all groundwater and surface water samples. The Mg2+/Ca2+ ratio ranges from 0.21 to 1.30 with most of the values greater than 0.5, indicating that weathering of dolomites is dominant in groundwater. The analysis reveals that all of the samples are neutral to slightly alkaline (pH 7.0–8.7). Groundwater and surface water suitability for drinking usage was evaluated according to the World Health Organization and Turkish Standards (TSE-266) and suggests that most of the samples are suitable for drinking. Various determinants such as sodium absorption ratio, percent sodium (Na %), residual sodium carbonate and soluble sodium percentage revealed that most of the samples are suitable for irrigation. According to MH values, all of the well water samples were suitable for irrigation purposes, but 80 and 81.82% of Zillek springs and surface water samples were unsuitable. As per the PI values, the water samples from the study area are classified as Class I and Class II and are considered to be suitable for irrigation.  相似文献

Binary-medium contact interfaces widely exist in rock engineering. They have significant impacts on the safety of rock engineering due to their poor shear behavior. A material of different strength is produced by pouring mortar of a different sand-to-cement ratio on the top of a rock-like mortar material (with the ratio of 1:1), thereby forming a binary-medium structural plane. Then, direct shear test is performed on the structural plane by applying different normal stresses. The shear strength parameters of the structural plane (cohesion \(c\) and friction angle \(\varphi\)) are obtained from the Mohr–Coulomb criterion. Moreover, the mechanical behaviors of the structural plane are compared with the unitary-medium specimen in the shearing process. A similar shear stress–shear displacement rule is observed in the shearing process. However, the peak and residual shear strengths of the binary structural plane are far lower than those of the unitary ones. The difference between the unitary and binary planes at cohesion \(c\) decreases with the increasing sand–cement ratio, whereas a up-down trend is observed in the friction angle \(\varphi\) with the increasing sand-to-cement ratio. When the upper and lower parts of the structural plane are different in sand-to-cement ratio, the cohesion \(c\) of the structural plane slightly increases with the increasing ratio of the upper specimen. However, when the two parts are identical in ratio, the cohesion of the structural plane reaches the peak, and its friction angle \(\varphi\) substantially increases with the increasing ratio of the upper part.  相似文献

Strain responses of frozen clay with thermal gradient under triaxial creep   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
Thermal gradient is one of the main features for the temperature distribution in artificial frozen shaft lining (FSL). The time-dependent strain responses and the corresponding heterogeneity characteristics of frozen soils with thermal gradient are of potential significance for stability assessment and prediction of FSL, especially of the FSL embedded in thick alluvium. A series of triaxial creep tests were carried out on frozen saturated clay under various thermal gradients and creep stresses. The experimental results indicated that the triaxial creep curves for frozen clay with thermal gradient exhibit viscous characteristics, and the creep rate \(\Delta \varepsilon_{\text{a}} /\Delta t\) decreases with the increase in creep time \(t\) and decrease in thermal gradient. The stress–strain curve under different \(t\) showed that the creep stress has a marked growth when axial strain \(\varepsilon_{\text{a}} \le 1\,\%\). However, when \(\varepsilon_{\text{a}} \ge 1\,\%\), the growth rate decreases gradually. The deviation between measured radial strain \(\varepsilon_{\text{r}}^{\text{m}}\) under the middle specimen section height SSH and the calculated radial strain \(\varepsilon_{\text{r}}^{\text{c}}\) from the volumetric strain increases following a unified equation with the increase in axial strain. The radial strain \(\varepsilon_{\text{r}}^{\text{f}}\) for frozen clay with thermal gradient after experiment increases with the increase in SSH, and the slope of \( \varepsilon_{\text{r}}^{\text{f}} - {\text{SSH}} \) curve is significantly dependent on the thermal gradient and creep stress. The variation of \(\varepsilon_{\text{r}}^{\text{m}} - \varepsilon_{\text{r}}^{\text{c }}\) during experiment and \(\varepsilon_{\text{r}}^{\text{f}}\) distribution after experiment are the macro-responses of internal micro-heterogeneities in frozen soils induced from thermal gradient, and are closely related to strain rate and its variation. These observations and findings provide an insight into the creep mechanism and the estimation method of creep deformation for frozen soils with thermal gradient.  相似文献

The effect of solar flare, sudden commencement of magnetic storm and of the disturbances ring current on the equatorial electrojet in the Eastern Brazil region, where the ground magnetic declination is as large as \(20^{^{\circ }}\hbox {W}\) is studied based on geomagnetic data with one minute resolution from Bacabal during November–December 1990. It is shown that the mean diurnal vector of the horizontal field was aligned along \(2{^{\circ }}\hbox {E}\) of north at Huancayo and \(30{^{\circ }}\hbox {W}\) of north at Bacabal during the month of December 1990. Number of solar flares that occurred on 30 December 1990 indicated the direction of solar flare related \(\Delta H\) vector to be aligned along \(5{^{\circ }}\hbox {E}\) of north at Huancayo and \(28{^{\circ }}\hbox {W}\) of north at Bacabal. This is expected as the solar flare effects are due to the enhanced conductivity in the ionosphere. The SC at 2230 UT on 26 November 1990 produced a positive impulse in \(\Delta X\) and negative impulse in \(\Delta Y\) at Bacabal with \(\Delta H\) vector aligned along \(27{^{\circ }}\hbox {W}\) of north. At Huancayo the \(\Delta H\) vector associated with SC is aligned along \(8{^{\circ }}\hbox {E}\) of north, few degrees east to the alignment of the diurnal vector of H. The magnetic storm that followed the SC had a minimum Dst index of –150 nT. The corresponding storm time disturbance in \(\Delta X\) at Huancayo as well as at Bacabal were about –250 nT but \(\Delta Y\) at Bacabal was about +70 nT and very small at Huancayo, that give the alignment of the H vector due to ring current about \(16{^{\circ }}\hbox {W}\) of north at Bacabal and almost along N–S at Huancayo. Thus alignment of the \(\Delta H\) vector due to ring current at Bacabal is \(14{^{\circ }}\hbox {E}\) of the mean direction of \(\Delta H\) vector during December 1990. This is consistent with the direction of ring current dependent on the dipole declination at the ring current altitude which is about \(5{^{\circ }}\hbox {W}\) of north over Bacabal and the deviation of declination due to the ring current during disturbed period given by the angle (\(\psi \)-D).  相似文献

Dalma volcanics (DVs) has intruded the older Singhbhum Group of Metapelites. Despite DVs being rich in mineralisation, its boundaries are not clearly demarcated. Gravity and magnetic surveys have been attempted for mapping the boundaries in DVs. These surveys were made in the northern fringe of the DVs over an area of \(\sim \)0.70 \(\hbox {km}^{2}\) along 13 parallel lines at 50 m spacing. The data was acquired at \(\sim \)25 \(\hbox {m}\) spacing. The surveys were taken for determination of lithological boundaries, depths and nature of causative source using Euler depth solutions and radially averaged power spectrum (RAPS). Residual anomaly maps of gravity and magnetic intensity show the same trend as that of Bouguer gravity anomaly and total magnetic intensity anomaly map indicating towards shallow sources. The magnetic map in general follows the same pattern as that of gravity anomaly maps. The map shows coincident high gravity and magnetic anomalies. These anomalies together with resistivity signatures confirm that the northern fringe of DVs hosts volcanogenic massive sulphide settings. The Euler depth solution delineated the lateral boundaries and nature of the source. It seems that the source is of spherical nature lying within a depth range of 25–40 m. The obtained lithological (vertical) units from RAPS are between Lower DVs, Upper DVs and Singhbhum Group Metapelites at depths of \(\sim \)15, \(~\sim \)25 and \(\sim \)40 \(\hbox {m}\), respectively. The metallogeny is associated with the Upper DVs and the corresponding delineated lithological (vertical) unit is indicative of the top of the ore body. Good agreement is observed with the geological succession from the drilling data and resistivity data. The findings suggest that the northern fringe of DVs could be a preferred target for drilling.  相似文献

Seismic source parameters of small to moderate sized intraplate earthquakes that occurred during 2002–2009 in the tectonic blocks of Kachchh Rift Basin (KRB) and the Saurashtra Horst (SH), in the stable continental region of western peninsular India, are studied through spectral analysis of shear waves. The data of aftershock sequence of the 2001 Bhuj earthquake (\(M_{w}\) 7.7) in the KRB and the 2007 Talala earthquake (\(M_{w}\) 5.0) in the SH are used for this study. In the SH, the seismic moment (\(M_{o})\), corner frequency \((f_{c})\), stress drop (\(\varDelta \sigma \)) and source radius (r) vary from \(7.8\times 10^{11}\) to \(4.0\times \)10\(^{16}\) N-m, 1.0–8.9 Hz, 4.8–10.2 MPa and 195–1480 m, respectively. While in the KRB, these parameters vary from \(M_{o} \sim 1.24 \,\times \, 10^{11}\) to \(4.1 \times 10^{16}\) N-m, \(f_{c }\sim \) 1.6 to 13.1 Hz, \(\varDelta \sigma \sim 0.06\) to 16.62 MPa and \(r \sim 100\) to 840 m. The kappa (K) value in the KRB (0.025–0.03) is slightly larger than that in the SH region (0.02), probably due to thick sedimentary layers. The estimated stress drops of earthquakes in the KRB are relatively higher than those in SH, due to large crustal stress concentration associated with mafic/ultramafic rocks at the hypocentral depths. The results also suggest that the stress drop value of intraplate earthquakes is larger than the interplate earthquakes. In addition, it is observed that the strike-slip events in the SH have lower stress drops, compared to the thrust and strike-slip events.  相似文献

Pressuremeter modulus (\(E_{M}\)) and limit pressure (\(P_{L}\)) are used for the calculation of the settlement and bearing capacity of foundation respectively. As the determination of these parameters from pressuremeter test (PMT) is relatively time-consuming and expensive, various empirical correlations have been proposed to correlate the \(E_{M}\) and \(P_{L}\) to other soil parameters. For the existing equations are incapable of estimating these PMT parameters well, in present research group method of data handling type neural network is used to estimate the \(E_{M}\) and \(P_{L}\) of clayey soils. The \(E_{M}\) and \(P_{L}\) were modeled as a function of three variables including the moisture content (\(\omega\)), plasticity index and corrected SPT blow counts (\(N_{60}\)). A database containing 51 data sets have been used for training and testing of the models. The performances of proposed models are compared with those of existing empirical equations. The results demonstrate that appreciable improvement with respect to the other correlations has been achieved. At the end, sensitivity analysis of the obtained models has been performed to study the influence of input parameters on model outputs and shows that the \(N_{60}\) is the most influential parameter on the PMT parameters.  相似文献

Evaluating the magma depth and its physical properties is critical to conduct a better geophysical assessment of magma chambers of caldera volcanoes that may potentially cause future volcanic hazards. To understand pre-eruptive conditions of a magma chamber before its first appearance at the surface, this paper describes the case of Hijiori caldera volcano in northeastern Japan, which emerged approximately 12,000 years ago at a place where no volcano ever existed. We estimated the depth, density, bulk modulus, vesicularity, crystal content, and bulk H\(_2\)O content of the magma chamber using petrographic interpretations, bulk and microchemical compositions, and thermodynamic calculations. The chemical mass balance calculations and thermodynamic modeling of the erupted magmas indicate that the upper portion of the Hijiori magmatic plumbing system was located at depths between 2 and 4 km, and had the following characteristics: (1) pre-eruptive temperature: about 780 \(^{\circ }\)C; (2) bulk magma composition: 66 ± 1.5 wt% SiO\(_{2}\); (3) bulk magmatic H\(_2\)O: approximately 2.5 wt%, and variable characteristics that depend on depth; (4) crystal content: \(\le\)57 vol%; (5) bulk modulus of magma: 0.1–0.8 GPa; (6) magma density: 1.8–2.3 g/cm3; and (7) amount of excess magmatic H\(_2\)O: 11–32 vol% or 48–81 mol%. The range of melt water contents found in quartz-hosted melt inclusions (2–9 wt%) suggests the range of depth phenocrysts growth to be wide (2\(\sim\)13 km). Our data suggest the presence of a vertically elongated magma chamber whose top is nearly solidified but highly vesiculated; this chamber has probably grown and re-mobilized by repeated injections of a small amount of hot dacitic magma originated from the depth.  相似文献

The solubility of chromium in chlorite as a function of pressure, temperature, and bulk composition was investigated in the system Cr2O3–MgO–Al2O3–SiO2–H2O, and its effect on phase relations evaluated. Three different compositions with X Cr = Cr/(Cr + Al) = 0.075, 0.25, and 0.5 respectively, were investigated at 1.5–6.5 GPa, 650–900 °C. Cr-chlorite only occurs in the bulk composition with X Cr = 0.075; otherwise, spinel and garnet are the major aluminous phases. In the experiments, Cr-chlorite coexists with enstatite up to 3.5 GPa, 800–850 °C, and with forsterite, pyrope, and spinel at higher pressure. At P > 5 GPa other hydrates occur: a Cr-bearing phase-HAPY (Mg2.2Al1.5Cr0.1Si1.1O6(OH)2) is stable in assemblage with pyrope, forsterite, and spinel; Mg-sursassite coexists at 6.0 GPa, 650 °C with forsterite and spinel and a new Cr-bearing phase, named 11.5 Å phase (Mg:Al:Si = 6.3:1.2:2.4) after the first diffraction peak observed in high-resolution X-ray diffraction pattern. Cr affects the stability of chlorite by shifting its breakdown reactions toward higher temperature, but Cr solubility at high pressure is reduced compared with the solubility observed in low-pressure occurrences in hydrothermal environments. Chromium partitions generally according to \(X_{\text{Cr}}^{\text{spinel}}\) ? \(X_{\text{Cr}}^{\text{opx}}\) > \(X_{\text{Cr}}^{\text{chlorite}}\) ≥ \(X_{\text{Cr}}^{\text{HAPY}}\) > \(X_{\text{Cr}}^{\text{garnet}}\). At 5 GPa, 750 °C (bulk with X Cr = 0.075) equilibrium values are \(X_{\text{Cr}}^{\text{spinel}}\) = 0.27, \(X_{\text{Cr}}^{\text{chlorite}}\) = 0.08, \(X_{\text{Cr}}^{\text{garnet}}\) = 0.05; at 5.4 GPa, 720 °C \(X_{\text{Cr}}^{\text{spinel}}\) = 0.33, \(X_{\text{Cr}}^{\text{HAPY}}\) = 0.06, and \(X_{\text{Cr}}^{\text{garnet}}\) = 0.04; and at 3.5 GPa, 850 °C \(X_{\text{Cr}}^{\text{opx}}\) = 0.12 and \(X_{\text{Cr}}^{\text{chlorite}}\) = 0.07. Results on Cr–Al partitioning between spinel and garnet suggest that at low temperature the spinel- to garnet-peridotite transition has a negative slope of 0.5 GPa/100 °C. The formation of phase-HAPY, in assemblage with garnet and spinel, at pressures above chlorite breakdown, provides a viable mechanism to promote H2O transport in metasomatized ultramafic mélanges of subduction channels.  相似文献
