自主式深海海底溶质通量原位观测站研究进展   总被引:3,自引:1,他引:2  
针对深入了解深海海底界面的物理、化学和生物动态变化过程及机制的观测需求,综述了自主式海底观测站(着陆器,lander)在深海海底溶质通量监测的研究进展。探讨了海底观测站的设计与实施技术,分析总结了深海自主式原位观测站在沉积物-水界面化学组分通量的观测机理,讨论了自主式海底观测站的国内外发展现状。自主式海底观测站具有可灵活机动选择观测地点、操作简单、便于多参数综合测量的特点,为获取深海海底长时空尺度综合参数资料提供了有效的技术支撑。根据目前深海生物地球化学循环研究特点,提出了自主式海底观测站面临的问题与发展建议。  相似文献

This paper discusses the possibility of measurement of the current velocity vector characteristics averaged over the time of continuous regular down-up probings from a moving carrier. The measurements can be carried out either from a moving vessel or from a helicopter, floating on or hovering above the sea surface. As an illustration for the suggested technique,in situ observations compiled by a free-component (±XYZ) VEGA-3 probe in the Guiana current region in March 1990 are provided. Comparison of the results with buoy data shows good agreement within the accuracy limits of the instruments employed.Translated by Vladimir A. Puchkin.  相似文献

We designed a new pop-up type Ocean Bottom Seismometer (OBS) in order to study micro-earthquakes in off-shore areas. With a 57 cm O.D. sphere of high tension aluminium alloy, the OBS system, including one vertical and one horizontal geophone, can safely operate on ocean floors of up to 6000 m depth for seismic observations. The amplified seismic data and the time code are directly recorded on the four-channel cassette deck for periods of up to one month. The frequency response curve throughout the recording and play-back system is flat for the range, 1–15 Hz (–3 dB). The anchor release and the geophone clamp are operated by an acoustic command signal.So far, we have deployed our OBS's 42 times in the ocean. All of the OBS's deployed have been recovered safely. Seismic data has provided seismological evidence for a number of processes associated with tectonism along subduction zones and spreading ridges (e.g., Eguchi et al., 1986).  相似文献

An Ashtech GPS 3DF, a commercially available system for measuring ship's heading from an array of GPS antennas, was installed on RRS Discovery in August 1992. Data were collected during 8 days of ship trials, including periods in port and while on station or steaming. Headings from the GPS system have been compared with headings from the ship's gyrocompass, and residuals calculated. While in port, residuals had a standard deviation of 0.066°, suggesting satisfactory performance by both instruments. While at sea, time-averaged residuals varied with a range of nearly 3°, most of which is attributed to systematic errors in the ship's gyro. After correcting the gyro using 10-min averages of the GPS minus gyro headings, the residual GPS minus gyro differences had a standard deviation of 0.17°. This represents a likely limit on the use of GPS heading data to improve conventional gyro measurements.  相似文献

Green water loads on moored or sailing ships occur when an incoming wave significantly exceeds the freeboard and water runs onto the deck. In this paper, a Navier–Stokes solver with a free surface capturing scheme (i.e. the VOF model; [Hirt and Nichols, 1981]) is used to numerically model green water loads on a moored FPSO exposed to head sea waves. Two cases are investigated: first, green water on a fixed vessel has been analysed, where resulting waterheight on deck, and impact pressure on a deck mounted structure have been computed. These results have been compared to experimental data obtained by [Greco, 2001] and show very favourable agreement. Second, a full green water incident, including vessel motions has been modelled. In these computations, the vertical motion has been modelled by the use of transfer functions for heave and pitch, but the rotational contribution from the pitch motion has been neglected. The computed water height on deck has been compared to the experimental data obtained by [Buchner, 1995a] and it also shows very good agreement. The modelling in the second case was performed in both 2-D and 3-D with very similar results, which indicates that 3-D effects are not dominant.  相似文献

This paper presents the review and studies at various levels of problems concerning the authors’ previous research on the dynamics of vehicle–deck interactions. The various levels of study include the dynamic structural behavior of vehicle–deck systems, vehicle vibrations, damping effects of vehicles on structural systems, dynamic interactions between tire and deck surface, and vehicle securing on decks during ship motions, etc. The study includes analytical, numerical and experimental analysis. Practical problems encountered by Ro–Ro ship designers are addressed by discussing those analysis. It is shown that influences from the dynamics of vehicle–deck interactions are relevant to a number of aspects of issues, such as the excitation frequency range, how detailed information of the structural system response is required, the structure characteristics, and positions and orientations of vehicles on decks, etc. The study contributes to the knowledge for the naval architect and vehicle engineer on how significant the dynamics of vehicle–deck interactions are when dealing with relevant problems.  相似文献

In July 2000, an array of instruments called acoustic extensometers was deployed at the Cleft segment of the southern Juan de Fuca Ridge, a seafloor observatory site selected by the National Science Foundation RIDGE Program. These instruments are designed to precisely measure horizontal deformation across the axis of a mid-ocean ridge in order to detect and quantify seafloor spreading events. The instruments were deployed in semipermanent seafloor benchmarks in a linear array that is 1.2-km long and spans the floor of the axial valley. The instruments make daily measurements of distance to their neighbors in the array by recording the round trip travel time of 100-kHz acoustic pulses, and simultaneous temperature measurements are used to correct the ranges for sound speed variations. The instruments are expected to have lifetimes of at least five years. In addition, precise pressure measurements have been made at each benchmark with a remotely operated vehicle in order to monitor for vertical deformation across the array. Preliminary results show that the resolution of the acoustic measurements is ±1-2 cm and that no abrupt deformation events occurred during the first year  相似文献

Common marine X-Band radars can be used as a sensor to survey ocean wave fields. The wave field images provided by the radars are sampled and analysed by a wave monitoring system (called WaMoS II) developed by the German research institute GKSS. This measuring system can be mounted on a ship, on offshore stations or at coastal locations. The measurement is based on the backscatter of microwaves from the ocean surface, which is visible as ‘sea clutter' on the radar screen. From this observable sea clutter, a numerical analysis is carried out. The unambiguous directional wave spectrum, the surface currents and sea state parameters such as wave periods, wave lengths, and wave directions can be derived. To provide absolute wave heights, the response of the nautical radar must be calibrated. Similar to the wave height estimations for Synthetic Aperture Radars, the so-called ‘Signal to Noise Ratio' leads to the determination of the significant wave height (HS). In this paper, WaMoS II results are compared with directional buoy data to show the capabilities of nautical microwave radars for sea state measurements.  相似文献

A seismic reflection profiling system utilising a surface air gun source and a deep-towed horizontal hydrophone streamer has been developed for high resolution studies in the deep ocean. The instrument is deployed on a conventional armoured single conductor cable at depths of up to 6 km. Seismic data from the 30 m long streamer is wide-band frequency modulated up the towing cable to the ship together with a high frequency monitor from a 3.5 kHz echo-sounder mounted on the instrument package. The geometry of the system allows an order of magnitude improvement in spatial resolution compared with that obtained from standard surface source/receiver configurations. The summed hydrophones of the streamer attenuate cable-generated mechanical noise, and the 3.5 kHz sea-surface and bottom reflected returns provide receiver positioning information. The system has been successfully deployed at depths of 5 km in the Vema Fracture Zone in the North Atlantic, and although initially difficulties were experienced in balancing the streamer, subsequent profiles across the transform fault show details of sub-bottom structure which on conventional surface records are generally masked by diffraction hyperbolae.  相似文献

The main impact of the fishery for Tristan rock lobster Jasus tristani on seabirds at the Tristan archipelago and Gough Island is through night strikes, when petrels collide with a ship after being disorientated by its lights. Tristan fishery observers have kept records of night strikes on the MV Edinburgh since the 2010/2011 fishing season. Over the last three years, 723 seabirds from nine species were recorded coming aboard the fishing vessel, with at least 39 (5.4%) birds dying as a result. Birds killed were broad-billed prions Pachyptila vittata (41%), common diving petrels Pelecanoides urinatrix (23%), and storm petrels (Pelagodroma marina and Fregetta grallaria/tropica 36%). All these species are listed as Least Concern globally, and the numbers killed per year are <0.1% of the island populations. The captain and crew of the Edinburgh are aware of the problem posed by deck lights at night, and attempt to keep external lighting to a minimum. As a result, the numbers of birds coming aboard vessels in this fishery have decreased from an average of 130 birds per night in 1989 to less than two birds per night in 2010–2013. Currently, most incidents occur during exceptional events when circumstances require deck lights to be lit at night. Consideration should be given to banning fishing operations at night, at least on misty nights.  相似文献

Obtaining absolute seafloor backscatter measurements from hydrographic multibeam echosounders is yet to be achieved. We propose a low-cost experiment to calibrate the various acquisition modes of a 30-kHz Kongsberg EM 302 multibeam echosounder in a range of water depths. We use a 38-kHz Simrad EK60 calibrated fisheries split-beam echosounder mounted at 45° angle on the vessel’s hull as a reference for the calibration. The processing to extract seafloor backscatter from the EK60 requires bottom detection, ray tracing and motion compensation to obtain acceptable geo-referenced backscatter measurements from this non-hydrographic system. Our experiment was run in Cook Strait, New Zealand, on well-known seafloor patches in shallow, mid, and deep-water depths. Despite acquisition issues due to weather, our results demonstrate the strong potential of such an approach to obtain system’s absolute calibration which is required for quantitative use of backscatter strength data.  相似文献

Synoptic basin-wide measurements of Arctic Ocean temperature and salinity are now possible with the recent development of an expendable conductivity, temperature, and depth probe for deployment from aircraft (AXCTD). Both the P-3 Orion aircraft and the C-130 aircraft are capable of long-range, low-altitude flight and are ideal for Arctic research. Expendable profilers can be quickly deployed over vast regions from aircraft and in locations with limited ship access, but have the disadvantage of measuring only the top 1000 m and of being about an order of magnitude less accurate than a CTD cast, primarily because of noisy salinity measurements and depth-fall rate errors. We explore how to conduct an ACXTD measurement program in ice-covered seas and discuss a test of these methods conducted in the Arctic Ocean's Eurasian Basin. Long-range aircraft can significantly augment the present program of Arctic research by performing large-area surveys, continuing time series with repeat measurements, and by helping target locations for more detailed and accurate shipboard measurement.  相似文献

Marine optical parameters required for ocean color satellite applications must be measured with high accuracy and errors within the permissible limits. These stringent requirements demand careful measurements of optical parameters. Though the free-fall radiometer is found to be a better option for measuring underwater light parameters as it avoids the effects of ship shadow and is easy to operate, the measurements demand profiling the radiometer vertical in water with minimum tilt. Here we present the results of our observations on the tilts of the radiometer from the measurements in the Arabian Sea. Since there is hardly any study carried-out on the tilt of the profiling radiometer, the result of this study will help in the better design of such marine instruments. The tilt of the radiometer near the surface of the water is attributed to the mode of deployment and environment parameters, while the tilt at depth of the water is influenced by the density variations of the water. Here we also demonstrate a method of deploying the instrument that minimizes the tilt of the instrument at the surface layer of the water.  相似文献

Brief and impulsive signals of uncertain origin appear regularly on records from Ocean Bottom Seismographs (OBS) of several institutions. These signals have been recorded on nearly all deployments of the Texas OBS, including sites at depths greater than 7000 m. At some sites, they account for over 90% of the events recorded. They are of short duration (usually 0.5–4.0 s) and have a characteristic frequency (usually in the range of 4–18 Hz) that differs from site to site. When networks of OBS instruments are deployed, the signals are not recorded simultaneously by different instruments. Neither the frequency content nor the distribution of durations of these signals is similar to what is observed for known earthquake events.We present evidence suggesting that the signals are of biological origin, perhaps caused by animals touching the OBS units. (1) The distribution of these signals on instruments deployed at depths shallower than 1000 m shows a 24 h periodicity, while there is a 24 h periodic pattern on instruments deployed at sites deeper than 1000 m (where there is no visible light). (2) The frequency of occurrence of signals is similar to the vertical distribution of biomass in the oceans, i.e., they appear most frequently on OBS instruments deployed at very shallow depths. The maximum extent of ship spraying for a medium-sized fishing trawler (MFV) of Soviet type has been considered. A simple geometrical model for generating the spray due to ship-wave collisions has been applied to determine the maximum height of the spray source above the ship deck. The maximum height of the spray source has been assumed to depend on the ship speed relative to the moving waves and an empirical constant specific to a given type of ship. A unique field data set (Kuzniecov et al., 1971) of the height of the upper limit of ice accretion on the foremast of an MFV has been used to determine the value of the empirical constant for this vessel. For documented air-sea and ship motion parameters, the trajectories of droplets hitting the upper parts of the accretion on the foremast have been calculated using the equation of droplet motion for each reported icing event.The heights of the spray source computed by the trajectory method for each case of icing were compared with the heights of the spray source determined by a correlation involving the ship speed relative to the waves and the vertical extent of spray. The best fit was obtained for an empirical constant value of 0.535.The model performance was tested using an independent data set (Sharapov, 1971) on the spraying zone of an MFV. The tests showed that this model predicts the extent of the spraying zone over the ship with satisfactory accuracy and suggest that it should be incorporated into an integrated ship icing model.Finally, the model was run for several ship speeds, headings and wind speeds to examine the effect of these parameters on the maximum height of the spray hitting the ship's foremast. It was found that this height increases with wind speed and ship speed and is maximum for ship headings of 120–130°.  相似文献

A sighting device, called a “probe sight”, is described which simplifies the measurement, taken, from a helicopter, of the float separations from a deployed expendable surface current probe. The separation distance between the floats (along with a known time release) is a measure of the surface current speed. The sighting device can be used at any altitude. Comparisons of the readings using the probe sight and the “normal” measurements taken from aerial photographs for 180 stations in the Chukchi Sea, show that the difference between the two methods is less than 10% when the current speed is greater than 10 cm sec−1. The largest difference (15%) occurs at those stations where the current speed is less than 10 cm sec−1.  相似文献

A BM-04 microprocessor wave-tide gauge developed at the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology is used for the acquisition of data on the parameters of surface waves (the mean height \(\bar h\), the mean period \(\bar \tau \), the frequency spectrum S(ω), and so on) and the mean sea level ζ. As a wave gauge, the instrument can be deployed on the sea floor, on piles, and so on at depths down to 10 m in the near-shore zone and can be mounted on subsurface buoys offshore. As a tide gauge, the instrument can be used at depths down to 6000 m. The instruments were successfully tested and intercalibrated in the Black and Baltic seas and the Sea of Okhotsk.  相似文献

Sensitive Ocean Bottom Implanted Tiltmeters (OBITs) with a sophisticated data retrieval system have been developed in order to observe directly the subduction of oceanic lithosphere. The OBIT is the first long-term geophysical instrument which was designed to be deployed by a manned deep-sea submersible. When the OBIT is put on oceanic lithosphere which is bending and is about to subduct under a deep sea trench, the OBIT records the subduction by observing the tilt of the surface of the lithosphere. The OBIT system has a sensitivity of 10-8 radian, which is enough to detect the ongoing subduction in months or years. The OBIT may give an answer to the question whether there are fluctuations in the subduction rate.Two OBITs were successfully deployed on a seaward slope of the Kuril Trench by the newly built French deep submersible, Nautile. The OBITs were installed on the northwest shoulder of Erimo seamount, at a depth of 3930 m, in the Kuril Trench. In order to attain stable long-term observations of crustal deformations, the sensing unit was cemented onto bare rock by mortar. We have not yet had an opportunity to recover the data.The life of the instruments is expected to be more than five years. An acoustic data transmission system has been developed for the OBIT data recovery. The stored data can be retrieved at any moment during the observation period, with no need to retrieve the instruments nor to interrupt the observation, by use of the acoustic system. The acoustic system has a high data transmission rate as well as extremely low power consumption. This will be the first long-term crustal deformation measurement on the sea floor.  相似文献

大型集装箱船(LCS)具有较大的甲板开口,抗扭刚度非常低。在恶劣海况下航行时,大型集装箱船可能会遭遇斜浪的作用,此时船体将受到三向载荷的联合作用,水平波浪弯矩和扭转波浪弯矩可能会接近甚至超过垂向波浪弯矩,船体可能因发生组合变形而破坏。因此有必要研究大型集装箱船在三向载荷联合作用下的结构可靠性。在研究三向载荷联合作用下各维度极限强度的相互关系的基础上,提出了大型集装箱船的极限承载能力的可靠性评估方法,并对目标船在各浪向角下的结构可靠性进行评估。结果表明:目标船在0°浪向角下的失效概率最高;考虑水平波浪弯矩影响后目标船的结构可靠性有所降低;扭转波浪弯矩对目标船船中剖面的结构可靠性影响较小。  相似文献
