局部地形对于河口动量和能量平衡有重要作用,影响了潮波性质和物质输运特性。选取珠江河口崖门这一典型的地貌单元,通过水尺和座底式支架的观测,对其特殊地形边界影响下的动力结构进行了探讨。结果表明:(1)过水面积的缩窄导致崖门口处形成局部高水位区,来流方向水位壅高,去流方向水位梯度增大;(2)忽略斜压作用的情况下,由水位梯度所产生的正压项是主要的动力项。沿河道方向的二维垂向平均动量平衡中,急流时刻主要是正压项和对流加速度项平衡,憩流时刻主要是正压项和局地加速度项平衡;(3)地形变化所产生的形态阻力比床面粗糙所产生的肤面阻力要大数倍到一个数量级。  相似文献

The continental slope to the south of the Celtic Sea is an area of extremely rough topography and tidal currents of the order of 50cm/s (with components both along and across the slope). This is a region of intense and complicated internal wave and internal tide activity. Historical current meter data from moorings close to the shelf-break show bursts of high frequency, large amplitude internal waves occurring, on average, at either once or twice per M2 tidal cycle. Wave packets at 9 moorings along the shelf-break and further on-shelf are identified using conditional sampling. The paths travelled by these wave packets are calculated using their fluctuation orientation, linear wave theory and the low frequency current. The records are up to 60 days long, allowing the ensemble statistics of propagation direction and wave characteristics to be calculated for a large number of wave packets. This analysis shows that only a fraction of the observed wave packets have orientations consistent with generation by the across-slope barotropic tide. This mechanism accounts for 20% of the wave packets in the north-west Celtic Sea and 29% in the southeast Celtic sea. A similar fraction of the wave packets (23% in the north west and 27% in the south east) have orientations clearly consistent with generation by an along-slope flow over the rough topography on the slope. The remaining wave packets are attributed to generation by tidal flow over topography close to the moorings and possibly internal wave resonance within canyons.  相似文献

In order to re-evaluate the water volume exchange through Naruto Strait, we have performed a numerical experiment (nonlinear barotropic model including the actual depth of water and the details of shoreline) where trajectories of a number of labeled particles are calculated during a full cycle of the M2 tidal current. The ratio of water volume exchanged through Naruto Strait to that through Akashi Strait is found to be twice as large as the previously estimated value. The calculated water exchange rate is 104 % for Naruto Strait, 52 % for Akashi Strait and 28 % for Kitan Strait. In the case where the tide-induced residual current is excluded from the calculated velocity field (i.e. considering only the M2 current), the calculated exchange rate maintains the level of 68 % for Naruto Strait, 18 % for Akashi Strait and 11 % for Kitan Strait, respectively. The mechanism of tidal exchange through these three straits is discussed, and it is shown that a suitable exchange rate is obtained by starting the calculation of trajectories of labeled particles at the time of either a maximum ebb- or flood-current.  相似文献

Okarito Lagoon (43° 11′S, 170° 14′E) is a small (20 km2) shore‐parallel, predominantly subtidal estuary, deepest near the landward end, and linked to the sea by two subtidal channels incised through shallow subtidal and intertidal flats which occupy the southern third of the lagoon. Tides at sea vary from 2.1m (spring) to 1.2 m (neap), but in the lagoon the tidal range is constant through the lunar cycle and varies from 0.80 m at the entrance to 0.17 m in the upper lagoon. Tidal water level and flow asymmetries in the subtidal channels are separated by a 1.7 h phase difference. Variations in the net discharge through the inlet result from changing flow cross‐sections rather than from variations in current velocities. Both the tidal‐averaged volume and the tidal compartment of the lagoon vary through the lunar cycle, from maxima at spring tides to minima at neap tides.

Freshwater inflows vary from less than 11 m3.s‐1 to more than 750 m3.s‐1. During storms, water level in the lagoon rises rapidly by 2–3 m, then declines to normal over several days. Three water masses, two with salinity and turbidity largely controlled by antecedent rainfall, normally occur in the lagoon. Suspended sediment concentrations in both freshwater inflows and lagoon waters are normally low but increase during floods. Most sediment is supplied by the Waitangi‐taona River or by erosion of tidal channel margins. The lagoon is floored with organic‐rich mud and sandy mud, deposited predominantly from suspension. Surface sediment is consistently muddier than subsurface sediment, probably reflecting an increase in the mud supply since diversion of the Waitangi‐taona River in 1967.

Comparisons of the estimated sediment yield and water inflow effects of the 1967 river diversion with short‐term observations during selective logging suggest that the effects of logging on sediment yield, water balance of the lagoon, and dissolved solids inputs will be small compared with changes caused by diversion of the Waitangi‐taona River.  相似文献

利用福建沿海海域南日岛、金门岛与广东南澳岛的近海面气象、水文观测资料及台湾海峡西南部与南部的浮标观测资料,通过COARE(Coupled-Ocean Atmosphere Response Experiment)算法(V3.0),计算了台湾海域近海面空气动力粗糙度、曳力系数及海气表面动量通量,并研究它们关于水平风速的分布规律。结果得出:摩擦速度与10m风速基本上呈线性分布,线性拟合系数在0.042~0.045之间。曳力系数对10m风速的线性分布与过去研究结果相近,线性拟合系数在0.064~0.067之间。海面空气动力粗糙度对10m风速的线性拟合系数在0.053~0.058之间。海面动量通量与10m风速呈明显的二次关系,其线性与非线性拟合系数对于进一步了解台海地区大气湍流结构,建立和完善台海地区数值预报模式可提供重要的参数依据。  相似文献

A numerical experiment is made using a barotropic model for the western boundary currents. The time-dependent, non-linear vorticity equation is integrated with and without the variable of bottom topography. The inertial and frictional boundary flow is resolved with a fine grid size of 10 km. Connection of the western boundary currents with the general circulation is facilitated by giving the fixed Sverdrup transport at the eastern boundary of the model (400 km offshore).For the flat bottom topography, steady flow forRe=35 shows dynamical balance essentially of a frictional model. The transient response leading to the formation of the western boundary currents in the model seems to support theLighthill's theory (1969). ForRe=350, unsteady features revealed byBryan (1963) is re-established. A phenomenon of barotropic instability is also observed with sufficient resolution. For the model with a continental slope the steady flow is also obtained forRe=35. The boundary currents flow over the continental slope, deviating offshore as they flow northward.  相似文献

Historical observations of the surface current and daily mean sea level during the period 1965–1985 are analyzed in order to examine the geostrophic balance of the Kuroshio current in the Tokara Strait and near the Izu Islands. The variation in the sea level difference across the Kuroshio is associated with a variation in surface current velocity as predicted by the theory of geostrophic balance. However, the slope of the linear relation between the current velocity and sea level difference is smaller than the theoretically predicted value by about 30%. This disagreement may be ascribed to the effects of the centrifugal force and the occasional rise in sea level due to storm surges.Absolute mean sea level differences between the tidal stations are estimated by making use of the empirical relationship between the surface current and sea level difference. Estimated differences are: 87.4±22.1 cm between Naze and Nishinoomote, 24.3±9.2 cm between Miyake and Minamiizu, 41.3±17.7 cm between Miyake and Mera and 45.1±8.8 cm between Hachijyo and Miyake. The absolute value of sea level difference between Miyake and Minamiizu and that between Miyake and Mera may be about 30 cm, since geodetic levelling tells us that the mean sea level at Minamiizu is nearly equal to that at Mera.  相似文献

Three long-term fixed acoustic Doppler current profilers were first used for investigating the vertical structure of tidal currents in Xuliujing Section of Changjiang River Estuary. Combining an intensive hydrographic data survey with a numerical primitive equation model by data assimilation, the main features of dominant mesoscale to subbasin-scale variability in the Strait of Sicily (Mediterranean Sea) during the summer of 1996 are estimated, revealed and described, and several hydrographic and dynamical properties of the flow and variabilities discussed. The feature identification is based on two independent real-time analyses of the variability. One analysis “subjectively” evaluates and studies physical field forecasts and their variations. The other more “objectively” estimates and forecasts the principal components of the variability. The two independent analyses are found to be in agreement and complementary. The dominant dynamical variations are revealed to be associated with five features: the Adventure Bank Vortex, Maltese Channel Crest, Ionian Shelfbreak Vortex, Messina Rise Vortex, and temperature and salinity fronts of the Ionian slope. These features and their variations are found to have links with the meanders of the Atlantic Ionian Stream. For each feature, the characteristic physical scales, and their deviations, are quantified. The predominant circulation patterns, pathways and transformations of the modified Atlantic water, Ionian water and modified Levantine intermediate water, are then identified and discussed. For each of these water masses, the ranges of temperature, salinity, depth, velocity and residence times, and the regional variations of these ranges, are computed. Based on the estimated fields and variability principal components, several properties of the dynamics in the Strait are discussed. These include: general characteristics of the mesoscale anomalies; bifurcations of the Atlantic Ionian Stream; respective roles of topography, atmospheric forcings and internal dynamics; factors controlling (strengthening or weakening) the vortices identified; interactions of the Messina Rise and Ionian Shelfbreak vortices; and, mesoscale dynamics and relatively complex features along the Ionian slope. For evaluation and validation of the results obtained, in situ data, satellite sea surface temperature images and trajectories of surface drifters are employed, as well as comparisons with previous studies.  相似文献

A three-dimensional Large Eddy Simulation (LES) model is used to simulate oscillating tidal boundary layers and test previous results obtained from one-dimensional boundary layer models and turbulence measurements in tidal channels. The LES model produces low-order turbulence statistics in agreement with the semi-analytic theory and observations. It shows a logarithmic layer in the mean velocity profile and a linear distribution of Reynolds stress with water depth. However, the eddy viscosity profile predicted by the LES model is not parabolic but better matches a parabolic profile modified by wake effect observed in the outer part of depth-limited steady boundary layers. Low-order turbulence statistics can be scaled by the instantaneous friction velocity at the bottom boundary. Although turbulence intensities in three directions fluctuate over a tidal cycle, their normalized values are in good agreement with those determined from laboratory experiments of steady open-channel flows. The LES model confirms that tidal turbulence is in quasi-equilibrium. However, it also demonstrates the importance of flow acceleration/deceleration term in the depth-integrated momentum balance for the mean flow. In order to reconstruct the circulation in the northern Greenland Sea, between 77°N and 81°N, and the exchanges with the Arctic Ocean through Fram Strait, a variational inverse model is applied to the density field observed in summer 1984 during the MIZEX 84 experiment. An estimate of the three-dimensional large-scale pressure field is obtained in which the solution is decomposed into a limited number of vertical modes and the mode amplitudes are described by piece-wise polynomials on a finite-element grid. The solution should be consistent with a frictional depth-integrated vorticity balance and with the density data. The global model parameters are tuned to ensure agreement between the retrieved geostrophic velocity and independent currentmeter data. In a companion paper (Schlichtholz and Houssais, 1999b), the same method, but without dynamical constraint, is applied to the same hydrographic dataset to perform a detailed water mass analysis and to estimate individual water mass transports.A comprehensive picture of the summer geostrophic circulation in Fram Strait is obtained in which northward recirculations in the East Greenland Current (EGC) and various recirculations from the West Spitsbergen Current (WSC) to the EGC are identified. It is suggested that the branch of the WSC following the upper western slope of the Yermak Plateau turns westward beyond 81°N and recirculates southward along the lower slope, then merging with a westward recirculating branch south of 79°N. At 79°N, a southward net transport of 6.5 Sv is found in the EGC which, combined with a northward net transport of only 1.5 Sv in the WSC, results in a fairly large outflow of 5 Sv from the Arctic Ocean to the Greenland Sea.The inverse solutions show that, in summer, the local induction of vorticity by the wind stress curl or by meridional advection of planetary vorticity should be small, so that, in the EGC and in the WSC, the vorticity balance is mainly achieved between the bottom pressure torque and dissipation of vorticity through bottom friction. A substantial barotropic flow associated with along-slope potential energy gradients is indeed identified on both sides of the strait.  相似文献

On the basis of the satellite maps of sea level anomaly(MSLA) data and in situ tidal gauge sea level data,correlation analysis and empirical mode decomposition(EMD) are employed to investigate the applicability of MSLA data,sea level correlation,long-term sea level variability(SLV) trend,sea level rise(SLR) rate and its geographic distribution in the South China Sea(SCS).The findings show that for Dongfang Station,Haikou Station,Shanwei Station and Zhapo Station,the minimum correlation coefficient between the closest MSLA grid point and tidal station is 0.61.This suggests that the satellite altimeter MSLA data are effective to observe the coastal SLV in the SCS.On the monthly scale,coastal SLV in the western and northern part of SCS are highly associated with coastal currents.On the seasonal scale,SLV of the coastal area in the western part of the SCS is still strongly influenced by the coastal current system in summer and winter.The Pacific change can affect the SCS mainly in winter rather than summer and the affected area mostly concentrated in the northeastern and eastern parts of the SCS.Overall,the average SLR in the SCS is 90.8 mm with a rising rate of(5.0±0.4) mm/a during1993–2010.The SLR rate from the southern Luzon Strait through the Huangyan Seamount area to the Xisha Islands area is higher than that of other areas of the SCS.  相似文献

Under-ice current measurements reveal a homogeneous flow of water along Fury and Hecla Strait; it had a westward direction during the passage, over Igloolik, of low pressure cells in the atmosphere and an eastward direction at other times. It is presumed that barometric pressure differences between the Gulf of Boothia and Foxe Basin control partly the direction of the flow. The diurnal and semidiurnal components of the tidal currents also have a simple structure across the section of measurements. The subtidal and tidal components of the current all have the same order of magnitude, namely some 15 cm/s. The vertical tide progresses eastward; the diurnal component diminshhes abruptly once it enters Foxe Basin while the semidiurnal component increases steadily, its mean amplitude rising from 48 to 68 cm between the two extremities of the channel. Convective and frictional effects are evident in the water level records, indicating marked non-linear effects in the tides and currents, an eastward decrease in the diurnal currents and an increase in the semidiurnal ones.  相似文献

Uldolmok waterway, located between an island off the southwestern tip of Korean peninsula and mainland, is famous for its strong tidal current that has a maximum current of about 6.0m/s. A series of field observations along with numerical modeling have been carried out in order to understand the tidal dynamics in terms of the force balance along the whole waterway and the energy balance in the narrowest part of the waterway. First, analysis of the ADCP current and the tide level variation data reveals that the tidal dynamics along the total waterway (channel) is balanced dominantly between the pressure gradient and linear bottom frictional forces, with the phase lag of sea level difference for the semi-diurnal constituents leading the current phase about by 10°. Secondly, the result of the numerical modeling reveals that the tidal energy flux vector flows toward the narrowest section, indicating that there should be related nonlinear processes. Through the numerical model experiment with multi-components, the convergence of (M2 + S2) tidal energy flux of 6.68 × 107 Joule/s in the narrow area of the Uldolmok waterway is explained mainly by the energy consumption of 73% through the nonlinear generation of shallow water components and by the bottom frictional energy dissipation of 27%. This reveals that the remarkably strong nonlinear process dominates in the narrowest section of the Uldolmok waterway, compared with other areas, such as Yellow and East China Seas where the total M2 energy flux through the open boundary is balanced in terms of the bottom dissipation (Kang et al. 2003; Choi 1980).  相似文献

在湍流局地平衡假设下 ,建立了齐次湍能输运方程封闭模型 (HKE) ,并在平板边界层的两种经典流动中加以检验 ,给出 HKE封闭下的流速、湍流动能和湍流混合系数剖面的形式解。结果表明 ,HKE可以避免在流速剪切为零时的无湍流混合问题 ,其解与 L aufer湍流实验吻合 ,因而HKE模型比混合长理论有更合理的内涵。文中还给出 HKE封闭的浅海动力学模型 ,以湍应力和水位梯度力的平衡为运动的基本受力平衡 ,进行了模型的量阶分析和运动分析 :当阻尼频率和运动频率同量阶时 ,惯性运动不可忽略 ;在潮振荡占优的浅海中 ,对流非线性相对于惯性运动为小量 ;当阻尼频率足够大时 ,科氏力项相对于湍应力也可能为小量。  相似文献

基于非结构有限体积法海洋模型FVCOM(Finite-Volume Community Ocean Model), 建立了马六甲海峡及其毗邻海域高分辨率水动力数值模型, 研究了风和潮流作用下的余环流结构以及水体输运特征。结果表明, 马六甲海峡航道中央潮流运动以往复流为主, 边缘存在旋转流; 主要研究区域内落潮流速略大于涨潮流速, 东南窄道处流速最大; 因峡道束窄变浅, 在涨落潮过程中潮流发生汇聚与分离; 主要研究区域东南段存在3个显著的潮致余环流; 东北季风驱动时模型响应为海峡海流整体向西北方向流动, 西南季风时反之; 季风期间潮致表层余环流结构被破坏, 但底层余流仍存在水平环流结构, 且随着风速增加, 底层余环流的数目、大小、形状、位置均会产生变化; 季风过渡期余环流结构也会发生部分改变, 尤其是小潮期间风场影响效果显著。  相似文献

潮汐变化研究对于沿海地区海洋工程、洪涝灾害预防和海洋资源开发利用等各方面都有着非常重要的意义。之前的潮汐变化研究主要基于多年逐时验潮站观测,而验潮站数据无论是站点的个数还是站点的位置,都存在很大的局限性,这对我们研究海盆尺度的潮汐变化规律形成了一定程度的阻碍。前人基于25年的T/P-Jason卫星高度计数据发现南海中央深海海盆主要分潮振幅存在异常大的趋势,这是由于中尺度海洋运动对潮汐调和分析干扰导致的虚假结果。本文首次使用了X-TRACK软件处理过的长达27年的T/P-Jason卫星高度计观测来研究整个南海的主要分潮振幅的长期趋势。经过X-TRACK处理后的卫星观测数据在整个南海的准确性和完整性都有了显著的提升。同时,我们使用了权重最小二乘法来消除长周期采样导致的潮汐混淆的影响。我们发现在南海大部分海域,4大主要分潮的振幅都存在显著的变化趋势。振幅和迟角变化的极值主要分布在吕宋海峡西部、马六甲海峡和台湾海峡等水深和岸线变化剧烈的近海海域,振幅最大的上升趋势可达2.75 mm/a,振幅最大的下降趋势可达–2.16 mm/a。南海主要分潮振幅的长期趋势与河流径流以及人类活动密切相关。  相似文献

Tidal dissipation at the ocean floor has long been regarded as an adquated explanation to the behaviour of lunar orbit and Earth's rotation, although the actual mechanism involved is yet a fascinating research subject to date. The most common way to evaluate the dissipation is to find the rate of work done per unit surface by the current on the sea floor (Munk and Mac Donald 1960, Lambeck 1975). The success of this approach rely on the knowledge of the frictional coefficient which links the frictional force at the ocean floor, either quadratically or linearly, with the current velocity. Not only is the frictional coefficient important in this context, a variety of storm surge and tidal modelling problems also require a similar dissipation meachanism (Heaps 1969, Grace 1930, Stock 1976 etc.).
