The effect of increase in relative humidity on the angular variation of scattered light intensity distribution function and on asymmetry factor has been studied theoretically for three sizes of particles which are representative of urban aerosols. The increase in relative humidity causes change in physical properties of the particles, like radius (r) and complex refractive index (n?ik). The study is based on these changes in physical characteristics. It has been found that there are almost negligible changes in the functioni at low humidities (≤40%) for all the three aerosol sizes studied, which may be due to insignificant changes in the physical properties. At higher values, however, the physical parameters as well as the functioni show significant changes. The changes ini are systematic for the particle very small compared to the wavelength of incident radiation but for the particles comparable or larger it is not so. The asymmetry factor changes with the increase in relative humidity, for smaller particle it increases and for two larger particles changes are of fluctuative nature.  相似文献

采用自制的光化学反应箱 (160 L),在 254 nm光照射下,研究了光强、湿度、甲苯初始浓度对甲苯光降解效率的影响.实验发现,随着光强的增加,光降解效率逐渐增加;在较低湿度范围内,随着湿度的提高光降解效率逐渐提高,在较高湿度时,光降解效率随湿度增加而逐渐下降;随着甲苯初始浓度的增加,光降解效率逐渐降低.同时也对甲苯在紫外光照射下的光降解机理进行了初步的探讨.  相似文献

喀斯特石漠化治理区不同土地利用方式的小气候效应   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
研究小气候变化对植被恢复的响应机制可为喀斯特地区石漠化综合防治提供理论依据。文章选取喀斯特高原山地和高原峡谷石漠化综合防治示范区4种土地利用类型为研究对象,通过常规的小气候监测方法,在雨季前(4月)、雨季(8月)、雨季后(12月)对4种土地利用类型的大气温度、光照强度、相对湿度、土壤温度日变化进行监测和对比分析。结果表明:(1)4种土地利用方式中,大气温度、光照强度和土壤温度均表现为石漠化裸地>农耕地>灌木林>林地,而相对湿度的变化规律则反之:林地>灌木林>农耕地>石漠化裸地,说明林地的小气候调节作用最优,而石漠化裸地最差,与其石漠化治理和植被恢复效果相对应;(2)高原峡谷的大气温度、光照强度和相对湿度在不同的季节和不同土地利用方式下都显著高于高原山地,不同土层的土壤温度是高原山地显著低于高原峡谷;(3)各土地利用方式的小气候季节差异明显,大气温度、土壤温度均为:雨季(8月)>雨季前(4月)>雨季后(12月),而光照强度、相对湿度为:雨季(8月)>雨季后(12月)>雨季前(4月),8月各小气候指标值最高,且不同土地利用方式和治理区间的差异亦最大,因此,选取8月进行小气候监测以比较各土地利用方式和治理区之间的差异要优于其他两个月份。   相似文献

Intense natural pollution has occurred in the past in Italy corresponding to intense volcanic activity, which appears to have diminished somewhat in recent times. Between 1500 and 1900, Etna, Vesuvius, Vulcano and Stromboli, plus volcanoes outside Italy were very active and there are numerous, well documented episodes of atmospheric acidification which caused widespread damage, especially to the vegetation. Other than the acid rains, volcanic emissions also caused so calleddry fogs which consist of a more or less dense mist composed of foul smelling gases and aerosols, characterized by a reddish color, that could appear and persist when the relative humidity was low as shown by measurements taken on such occasions. This phenomenon appeared most frequently at the beginning of the hot season. In fact, volcanic clouds of gases and aerosols formed especially when the Tyrrhenian sea water was relatively cold giving rise to very stable atmospheric conditions locally and the summer anticyclone meant that the winds were calm. Under such conditions the emissions of Stromboli and Vulcano, especially those emitted at low levels, remained entrapped in the stable layer, which were then transported towards the land reaching Northern Italy at a distance on the order of 103 km. Thedry fogs could persist for days or weeks. Harvests were seriously damaged and frequently the crops were subsequently attacked by parasites. The leaves of the vegetation became discoloured with numerous punctiform lesions or gangrene at the edges of the leaves. The phenomenon was so frequent that, in texts on agricultural meteorology of the 1800s, a distinction was made between the causticdry fogs which damaged the vegetation anddamp fogs which instead were good for it. The most important episode occurred in 1783 due to the activity of Laki Grímsvötn (Iceland) with the contribution of Italian volcanoes. This dry fog lasted many months and affected the greater part of the northern hemisphere including Europe and Asia, harming people, animals and vegetation. Apart from paroxysmal cases, from the 1300s up to today, some tens ofdry fogs have been noted, all of which have been sufficiently well documented. The frequency of these events culminated between the middle of the 1700s and the middle of the 1800s. There is reason to believe that this well documented phenomenon of the past, with sufficient volcanic activity, could recur on the meso and large scale; with present day activity the emissions continue to cause damage to vegetation, both in the Aspromonte mountains (Calabria, Southem Italy) as well as in other parts of Italy.  相似文献

Aerosol optical depth (AOD) at 630 nm wavelength over the oceanic regions adjoining the Asian Continent is examined using a seven-year long data base derived from the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) on board NOAA satellite to study the mean spatial and temporal variations as well as to understand the impact of aerosols advecting from the continent. Depending on the prevailing meteorological conditions and nature of synoptic circulation, the AOD over the oceanic region shows a systematic annual variation. This annual pattern inturn also shows an inter-annual variability because of the corresponding variations in the meteorological features over the continent as well as small-scale deviations in the nature of synoptic circulation. The annual variation over the oceanic regions also shows a pronounced spatial heterogeneity depending on the influence of continental aerosols. Making use of the wind speed dependence of sea-salt AOD at far-oceanic environments and monthly mean wind speeds at small grids of size 5° × 5°, the annual variation of sea-salt AOD at different locations is studied to understand the spatial heterogeneity of this component. The residual component obtained by subtracting this from the measured AOD is the non-oceanic component due to advection from continent. The source regions for major continental advections are delineated from the analysis of air-mass back trajectories at appropriate locations identified from the annual pattern of non-oceanic component. The long-term effect of the continental impact is examined from the mean trend of AOD over the three major oceanic regions. This study shows that the continental influence is most significant over the Arabian Sea, followed by the Bay of Bengal and is almost insignificant in most of the regions over the Southern Hemispheric Indian Ocean, except for the effect of smoke aerosols over a few locations near Indonesia and Madagascar.  相似文献

Characteristics of aerosols in the Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL) obtained from a bistatic CW lidar at Trivandrum for the last one decade are used to investigate the role of ABL micro-meteorological processes in controlling the altitude distribution and size spectrum. The altitude structure of number density shows three distinct zones depending on the prevailing boundary layer feature; viz, the well-mixed region, entertainment region and upper mixing region. In the lower altitudes vertical mixing is very strong (the well-mixed region) the upper limit of which is defined as aerosol-mixing height, is closely associated with the low level inversion. The aerosol mixing height generally lies in the range 150 to 400 m showing a strong dependence on the vertical eddy mixing processes in ABL. Above this altitude, the number density decreases almost exponentially with increase in altitude with a scale height of 0.5–1.5 km. The aerosol mixing height is closely associated with the height of the Thermal Internal Boundary Layer (TIBL). Sea-spray aerosols generated as a result of the interaction of surface wind with sea surface forms an important component of mixing region aerosols at this location. This component shows a non-linear dependence on wind speed. On an average, depending on the season, the mixing region contributes about 10–30% of the columnar aerosol optical depth (AOD) at 0.5Μm wavelength. A long term increasing trend (∼ 2.8% per year) is observed in mixing region AOD from 1989 to 1997. A study on the development of the aerosols in the nocturnal mixing region shows that the convectively driven daytime altitude structure continues to persist for about 4–5 hrs. after the sunset and thereafter the altitude structure is governed by vertical structure of horizontal wind. Stratified aerosol layers associated with stratified turbulence is very common during the late night hours.  相似文献

本次研究利用MODIS、CALIPSO等卫星观测资料以及MERRA-2再分析资料分析了2007–2017年撒哈拉地区气溶胶光学厚度的空间分布特征。结果表明,撒哈拉地区气溶胶光学厚度的空间分布具有明显的季节变化,夏季沙尘气溶胶光学厚度高值区位于撒哈拉北部地区,高达0.6以上;而冬季沙尘气溶胶光学厚度高值区位于撒哈拉南部地区,最大值约为0.5。此外,撒哈拉地区在不同季节的主要气溶胶类型均为沙尘,但在撒哈拉南部地区沙尘气溶胶光学厚度对总气溶胶光学厚度的贡献有明显的季节性差异。基于CALIPSO体积退偏比的研究结果表明,在撒哈拉南部地区,夏季人为气溶胶占比大,气溶胶粒子趋于球形,冬季气溶胶粒子的退偏比则明显高于夏季,粒子非球形程度更高。夏季撒哈拉北部地区位于脊前槽后的位置,以南地区近地面主要为偏西风,携带了大量水汽的气流由大西洋吹向撒哈拉地区,使撒哈拉南部地区进入雨季,增强了沙尘气溶胶的沉降,因此夏季撒哈拉地区沙尘气溶胶光学厚度分布北高南低;冬季高压控制着撒哈拉北部地区,撒哈拉南部地区近地面盛行偏东风,且冬季温度偏低,容易形成逆温,不利于沙尘气溶胶和局地污染物扩散,导致沙尘气溶胶光学厚度南高北低。此外,局地温度变化也进一步促进了撒哈拉地区沙尘气溶胶空间分布的季节性差异。  相似文献

若尔盖高原牧场处于中国偏远洁净高海拔地区,大气沉降是污染物主要来源途径之一。由于季风的影响,污染源的辨析较为困难。本文通过多点大气气溶胶不同季节同时采样方式,利用热电离固体同位素质谱仪可有效校正质谱分析中同位素分馏效应的优点,对若尔盖地区土壤和大气气溶胶的铅同位素比值进行精确分析,并结合季风特征对该地区污染物的来源进行解析。结果表明:土壤的208Pb/204Pb比值变化范围为38.79059±0.00194~38.94461±0.00135,206Pb/207Pb为1.18551±0.00002~1.19362±0.00002;大气气溶胶的208Pb/204Pb比值变化范围为37.49571±0.00117~38.48980±0.00105,206Pb/207Pb为1.12894±0.00001~1.16734±0.00001。该地区土壤铅同位素的特征是放射成因铅高,来自于自身天然存在的岩石矿物,与大气污染关系不大;大气气溶胶的铅同位素组成与土壤差异较大,显示为多元混合模式,受到了天然物质和人类活动来源的混合影响,机动车尾气及来自北部(兰州)和西北部(青海、新疆、哈萨克斯坦、俄罗斯)的大气远程运移是若尔盖大气气溶胶及污染物质的主要来源。  相似文献

Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) observations of the pulsar B0833–45 have been carried out as part of the scientific program of the RadioAstron mission. Ground support was provided by the Long Baseline Array, which includes radio telescopes in Australia and other countries in the southern hemisphere. The VLBI observations of the pulsar are analyzed in order to derive the parameters characterizing the scattering of the pulsar radio emission: the angular size of the scattering disk, the spatial scale of the diffraction pattern, the drift velocity of this pattern relative to the observer, the pulse scattering time scale, and the characteristic scintillation time and frequency scales, as well as the index of the electrondensity fluctuation spectrum. Comparison of these values with the predictions of the theory of scattering on a thin screen enables the determination of the position of the effective screen along the line of sight. Estimates made using various methods give distances to the screen from the observer of 0.79 to 0.87 times the total distance to the pulsar. Although the position of the screen is beyond the boundary of the Vela supernova remnant, this object may play the dominant role in the scattering. The scattering disk is an ellipse with a 2:1 axis ratio and with the inferred position angle of the major axis being ≈ 50°, based on the changes in the visibility-function amplitude for various orientations of the projected baseline. This conclusion is supported by the shape of the visibility-function amplitude as a function of the delay.

The air-sea exchange is one of the main mechanisms maintaining the abundances of trace gases in the atmosphere. Some of these, such as carbon dioxide and dimethyl sulphide (DMS), will have a bearing on the atmospheric heat budget. While the former facilitates the trapping of radiation (greenhouse effect) the latter works in the opposite direction through reflectance of radiation back into space by sulphate aerosols that form from oxidation of DMS in atmosphere. Here we report on the first measurements made on DMS in the Bay of Bengal and the factors regulating its abundance in seawater. Phytoplankton alone does not seem to control the extent of DMS concentrations. We find that changes in salinity could effectively regulate the extent of DMSP production by marine phytoplankton. In addition, we provide the first ever evidence to the occurrence of DMS precursor, DMSP, in marine aerosols collected in the boundary layer. This suggests that the marine aerosol transport of DMSP will supplement DMS gaseous evasion in maintaining the atmospheric non-sea salt sulphur budget.  相似文献

It has been shown that the capillary state of aqueous solutions in the unsaturated zone (UZ) modifies chemical equilibria due to the decreasing capillary pressure of the whole system (isobaric scenario) or of the aqueous phase only (anisobaric scenario). Meanwhile, the role of salinity in capillary solutions has not been explicitly taken into account up to now, at least not in a manner independent to capillarity. A consistent way to do so is considered in this paper by calculating activity coefficients as a function of capillary pressure through the extrapolation of the Davies model. The integrated approach thus defined is applied to the interpretation of some laboratory experiments (taken from the literature) carried out under different capillary conditions. Calculations and measurements of the boehmite ↔ bayerite hydration equilibrium in an atmosphere of varying humidity agree very satisfactorily if the anisobaric scenario is selected. The solubility of reactive gases O2 and CO2 is found to increase in the pore water when the relative humidity decreases. Consequently, and in agreement with experimental measurements, the extent of the pyrite oxidation depends on the relative humidity. The proposed model refines the manner with which chemical equilibria and mineralogical assemblies may be interpreted. In particular, the different scenarios that may be envisioned (isobaric, anisobaric and dual) are considered in the light of the possible modes of precipitation of the minerals (precipitation within the capillary solution, epitaxial type precipitation). Finally, it should be noted that the geochemical approach proposed here for the UZ fully ties in with and conforms to the methods used in the water-saturated zone (SZ).  相似文献

Characteristics of trace gases (O3, CO, CO2, CH4 and N2O) and aerosols (particle size of 2.5 micron) were studied over the Arabian Sea, equatorial Indian Ocean and southwest part of the Bay of Bengal during the monsoon transition period (October–November, 2004). Flow of pollutants is expected from south and southeast Asia during the monsoonal transition period due to the patterns of wind flow which are different from the monsoon period. This is the first detailed report on aerosols and trace gases during the sampled period as the earlier Bay of Bengal Experiment (BOBMEX), Arabian Sea Monsoon Experiment (ARMEX) and Indian Ocean Experiments (INDOEX) were during monsoon seasons. The significant observations during the transition period include: (i) low ozone concentration of the order of 5 ppbv around the equator, (ii) high concentrations of CO2, CH4 and N2O and (iii) variations in PM2.5 of 5–20μg/m3.  相似文献

This paper presents a fundamental study on the effect of the relative humidity on the rockfill crushing strength. This aspect plays an important role in the mechanical behaviour of rockfill, and it is known that certain characteristics of the granular materials, such as compressibility and shear strength, depend on the confining stress, which is a function of the particles crushing. An increased interest has been observed regarding the effect of the relative humidity in the mechanical behaviour of rockfill. Unfortunately, limited research has been conducted until now regarding the study of individual particle crushing. Therefore, this paper thoroughly investigated particle crushing, by performing single-particle crushing tests on rockfill particles divided into four size ranges, under different relative humidity conditions. The experimental results reveal a considerable influence of the relative humidity in the studied rockfill particles, whose strength of the particles with the greatest dimensions in saturated conditions was reduced by half. Consistent macro-mechanical evidence demonstrates that particle’s size and relative humidity conditions depict the most important factors that influence particle crushing strength.

With respect to atmospheric impact, the 1982 eruption of the El Chichón volcano in Mexico is one of the most significant volcanic events of this century. The presence in the stratosphere, during several years, of an unusally high amount of sulfuric acid aerosols produced by this eruption is thought to be responsible for severe windshield damages on high-flying commercial jets. This problem took epidemic proportions in 1983–1984 and the cost to commercial aviation companies is estimated at several tens of millions of U.S. dollars.  相似文献

Sulfide minerals commonly occur in sediments and basement rocks in southern New Zealand, as authigenic precipitates from groundwater below the oxygenated surface zone. There are two principal potential sources for sulfur in the groundwater system: weathering of sulfide minerals in the metamorphic basement and rainwater-derived marine aerosols. We present data for these two key sulfur sources: metamorphic sulfide and associated hydrothermal Au-bearing veins within the Otago Schist (average δ34S = −1.8 ± 2.4‰), and an inland saline lake (S derived entirely from rainwater, δ34S = 21.4 ± 0.8‰). We use these two end member δ34S values to estimate the contributions of these sources of sulfur in authigenic groundwater sulfide minerals and in waters derived from oxidation of these sulfide minerals, across a range of environments. We show that authigenic groundwater pyrite along joints in the Otago schist is derived primarily from metamorphic basement sulfur. In contrast, authigenic groundwater pyrite cementing Miocene-Recent aquifers shows a substantial marine aerosol component, and represents a distinct hydrogeological system. We suggest that marine aerosols represent a significant flux to the terrestrial sulfur cycle that has been present through the groundwater system in Otago over the past 20 million years.  相似文献

Using literature data on approximately 400 compact radio sources detected with the Very Large Array and located in the direction of the Galactic center within 2° of the compact source Sgr A*, 69 sources whose angular sizes are determined by scattering on electron density inhomogeneities were distinguished. Fifty-five of these are extragalactic, two are supercompact HII regions, ten are sources of maser emission, and two are variable Galactic sources. The excess of the apparent angular sizes of maser sources within 2° of the Galactic center above the mean size of objects of this class in other parts of the Galaxy found in many studies cannot be explained purely by the effect of scattering of their radio emission on interstellar plasma inhomogeneities. The angular sizes of these objects are increased due to scattering only within Galactic longitudes of about 0.4° and Galactic latitudes less than 0.1°. The turbulent medium responsible for scattering of radio emission of compact sources in the immediate vicinity of the Galactic center is strongly concentrated toward the compact source Sgr A* at the Galactic center. No extragalactic sources are observed within 0.4° in longitude and 0.2° in latitude of the Galactic center, because of their low brightness due to the superstrong scattering in this region. Data on scatter broadening can be used to study the distribution of turbulent plasma near the Galactic center.  相似文献

The recent development of the Lithosphere–Atmosphere–Ionosphere (LAI) coupling model and experimental data of remote sensing satellites on thermal anomalies before major strong earthquakes have demonstrated that radon emanations in the area of earthquake preparation can produce variations of the air temperature and relative humidity. Specific repeating pattern of humidity and air temperature variations was revealed as a result of analysis of the meteorological data for several tens of strong earthquakes all over the world. The main physical process responsible for the observed variations is the latent heat release due to water vapor condensation on ions produced as a result of air ionization by energetic α-particles emitted by 222Rn. The high effectiveness of this process was proved by the laboratory and field experiments; hence the specific variations of air humidity and temperature can be used as indicator of radon variations before earthquakes.We analyzed the historical meteorological data all over the Mexico around the time of one of the most destructive earthquakes (Michoacan earthquake M8.1) that affected the Mexico City on September 19, 1985. Several distinct zones of specific variations of the air temperature and relative humidity were revealed that may indicate the different character of radon variations in different parts of Mexico before the Michoacan earthquake. The most interesting result on the specific variations of atmosphere parameters was obtained at Baja California region close to the border of Cocos and Rivera tectonic plates. This result demonstrates the possibility of the increased radon variations not only in the vicinity of the earthquake source but also at the border of interacting tectonic plates. Recent results on Thermal InfraRed (TIR) anomalies registered by Meteosat 5 before the Gujarat earthquake M7.9 on 26 of January 2001 supports the idea on the possibility of thermal effects at the border of interacting tectonic plates.  相似文献

The influence of aerosols in the visible and near infrared part of the electromagnetic spectrum was studied by simulations of Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper measurements. The radiative transfer model used is based on the matrix-operator-method and was applied to different surface types, represented by specific spectral albedo values. On the basis of a single scattering approach for atmospheric correction, an algorithm was developed to correct for the influences of aerosols, air molecules and athmospheric trace gases on Thematic Mapper measurements above land surfaces using additional measurements above nearby located ocean surfaces to estimate the optical properties. The optical thickness of a cloud-free atmosphere has therefore been varied in the model for different aerosol types and surface reflectances.  相似文献
