At the present time, there is a need for a rational approach for the analysis and design of three-dimensional structures subjected to multi-component earthquake motions. In this paper, a general design criterion for multi-component earthquake input is proposed. A new method for three-dimensional dynamic analysis is presented which estimates maximum displacements, forces or stresses for specified points within a structure. For each maximum value calculated, the corresponding critical angle of earthquake input is evaluated. The method is readily incorporated into existing computer programs for earthquake analysis, allowing one computer run to produce mean maximum response values for all possible angles of earthquake input. Combined axial and bending stresses are calculated at the modal level. It is shown that combining modal stresses yields lower estimates than if stresses are evaluated from maximum axial forces and moments. In addition, the method can be used without modifications to perform design checks for arbitrary blast or seawave spectra.  相似文献

A two dimensional linear filter operator based on Strakhov's method for the extraction of a potential field signal (gravity or magnetic) from a background of homogeneous random noise has been developed. An algorithm to solve for the coefficients of the operator is given together with the corresponding computer program in FORTRAN language. It may be used on any machine using FORTRAN IV. One of the main difficulties in transport modeling and calibration is the extraordinarily long computing times necessary for simulation runs. Improved execution time is a prerequisite for calibration in transport modeling. In this paper we investigate the problem of code acceleration using an adaptive grid refinement, neglecting subdomains, and devising a method by which the Courant condition can be ignored while maintaining accurate solutions. Grid refinement is based on dividing selected cells into regular subcells and including the balance equations of subcells in the equation system. The connection of coarse and refined cells satisfies the mass balance with an interpolation scheme that is implicitly included in the equation system. The refined subdomain can move with the average transport velocity of the subdomain. Very small time steps are required on a fine or a refined grid, because of the combined effect of the Courant and Peclet conditions. Therefore, we have developed a special upwind technique in small grid cells with high velocities (velocity suppression). We have neglected grid subdomains with very small concentration gradients (zero suppression). The resulting software, MODCALIF, is a three-dimensional, modularly constructed FORTRAN code. For convenience, the package names used by the well-known MODFLOW and MT3D computer programs are adopted, and the same input file structure and format is used, but the program presented here is separate and independent. Also, MODCALIF includes algorithms for variable density modeling and model calibration. The method is tested by comparison with an analytical solution, and illustrated by means of a two-dimensional theoretical example and three-dimensional simulations of the variable-density Cape Cod and SALTPOOL experiments. Crossing from fine to coarse grid produces numerical dispersion when the whole subdomain of interest is refined; however, we show that accurate solutions can be obtained using a fraction of the execution time required by uniformly fine-grid solutions.  相似文献

在地震数据处理中,地震数据插值方法常常用来解决地震数据空间采样率低和不规则的问题.本文提出了一种基于边缘保持滤波器的地震数据插值方法.在该方法中,对于一个1D信号,逐点滑动一个处理窗口,将信号分成多个信号片段.对于某一个待恢复的缺失采样点,存在多个包含(或邻近)该采样点的信号片段可以用来估计它.采用多项式来拟合这些信号片段,并选择拟合误差最小的信号片段估计此缺失采样点,达到边缘保持的目的.对于2D地震信号,先沿不同方向扫描抽取1D信号,然后采用上述1D边缘保持插值算法分别进行处理,得到沿不同方向的插值结果.对于任一待插值采样点,选取对应拟合误差最小的方向的插值结果作为最后输出的2D数据的插值结果.理论模型和实际资料的处理结果表明,所提方法具有保边缘、抗假频及能够进行不规则数据重建等特点,既能有效的实现不规则地震数据的重建,又能很好的保持原有数据的边缘特征.  相似文献

This paper describes the results of an experimental and numerical study that focused on multi‐directional behavior of unreinforced masonry walls and established the requisite of the related proposed design equations. The tests were conducted following several sets of multi‐directional loading combinations imposed on the top plane of the wall along with considering monotonic and cyclic quasi‐static loading protocols. Various boundary conditions, representing possible wall–roof connections, were also considered for different walls to investigate the influence of rotation of the top plane of the wall on the failure modes. The results of the tests were recorded with a host of high precision data acquisition systems, showing three‐dimensional displacements of a grid on the surface of the wall. Finite element models of the walls are developed using the commercial software package ABAQUS/Explicit compiled with a FORTRAN subroutine (VUMAT) written by the authors. The experimental results were then used to validate the finite element models and the developed user‐defined material models. With the utility of validated models, a parametric study was performed on a set of parameters with dominant influence on the behavior of the wall system under in‐plane and out‐of‐plane loading combinations. The experimental and numerical results are finally used to investigate the adequacy of ASCE 41 empirical equations, and some insights and recommendations are made. The analytic element method is a mesh-free approach for modeling ground water flow at both the local and the regional scale. With the advent of the Python object-oriented programming language, it has become relatively easy to write analytic element programs. In this article, an introduction is given of the basic principles of the analytic element method and of the Python programming language. A simple, yet flexible, object-oriented design is presented for analytic element codes using multiple inheritance. New types of analytic elements may be added without the need for any changes in the existing part of the code. The presented code may be used to model flow to wells (with either a specified discharge or drawdown) and streams (with a specified head). The code may be extended by any hydrogeologist with a healthy appetite for writing computer code to solve more complicated ground water flow problems.  相似文献

The basic computational procedure of a newly developed seismic performance test méthod is presented and examined in this paper. This method uses a direct step-by-step integration technique to compute the displacement response of a test specimen subjected to a numerically specified seismic excitation record, utilizing the non-linear restoring forces actually developed by the specimen during the experiment. Due to the limitations of the experimental procedure and conditions, special analytical assumptions and numerical methods must be adopted. The adequacy of such analytical techniques is evaluated and possible computational errors are identified. An improved numerical integration algorithm is also proposed for this specific application. It has been found that the method can be a reliable and powerful experimental tool provided appropriate analytical and numerical criteria, as discussed in this paper, are observed.  相似文献

Percentiles such as D50 and D84, calculated from weights retained on different sieves, are widely used to characterize grain size distributions (GSDs) of bulk samples of sedimentary deposits or sediment fluxes. The sampling variability of such percentiles is not well known, and few sampling guidelines exist for reliable characterization of GSDs. We report results from computer sampling experiments on the variability of sample percentiles in different-sized samples from populations with a log-normal GSD by weight and different sorting coefficients. Sample sizes are scaled by the volume of a median-sized grain so that results can be applied to any log-normal GSD. Sampling is random for the GSD by number that is equivalent to a specified GSD by weight. Results show important differences from standard sampling theory applicable to pebble-count GSDs. In small bulk samples all percentiles, including the median, are underestimated (more so for smaller samples, coarser percentiles and poorer sorting), and precision does not improve with the square root of sample size until fairly large sample sizes are exceeded. Non-dimensional equations fitted by eye to the results give good approximations to expected bias and precision in any percentile from 50 to 95 for any given sample size and population sorting coefficient. They are inverted to estimate the sample size required to avoid significant bias, or achieve specified precision, in any percentile of interest given estimates of the population D50 and sorting coefficient. Target sample sizes are sometimes considerably smaller, but in other circumstances larger, than suggested by previous guidelines relating to estimation of the entire grain size distribution. Bias is likely in small samples of river bedload and good precision requires very large samples of poorly sorted gravel deposits. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Abstract. WATIN is a FORTRAN 77 program for creating and modifying input files of analytical data for WATEQF, the aqueous geochemical speciation/saturation model. WATIN uses menus to display information about the data file and to accept new information from the user. In addition to providing basic editing functions, WATIN provides default values for WATEQF parameters and checks for errors and inconsistencies in the data file. WATIN simplifies and streamlines access to WATEQF for both researchers and students, and along with WATEQF, can be an important part of a geochemical data analysis system.  相似文献

In this paper a centrifuge model that is capable of realistically representing soil-structure systems subjected to earthquake-like excitation is used to create a data pool which demonstrates the influence of (i) the frequencies of the structure, (ii) the foundation embedment and (iii) the foundation shape on radiation damping and soil-structure interaction effects for a structure on a semi-infinite soil layer over bedrock. The centrifuge model used in this study was developed and validated by the authors in an earlier publication,1 and employs an internal method of earthquake simulation, and the clay-like material, Duxseal, to absorb wave reflections at the boundary of the soil sample. The results of the experimental study are used to compute damping and stiffness values of a two-degree-of-freedom piecewise-linear numerical model of the soil-structure systems. The experimental parameter values are then compared to the values computed using classical text book formulae. The analysis demonstrates the value of the experimental data in validating and developing soil-structure interaction theory, and confirms the accuracy of classical text book formulae in the linear range.  相似文献

The objective of in situ thermal treatment is typically to reduce the contaminant mass or average soil concentration below a specified value. Evaluation of whether the objective has been met is usually made by averaging soil concentrations from a limited number of soil samples. Results from several field sites indicate large performance uncertainty using this approach, even when the number of samples is large. We propose a method to estimate average soil concentration by fitting a log normal probability model to thermal mass recovery data. A statistical approach is presented for making termination decisions from mass recovery data, soil sample data, or both for an entire treatment volume or for subregions that explicitly considers estimation uncertainty which is coupled to a stochastic optimization algorithm to identify monitoring strategies to meet objectives with minimum expected cost. Early termination of heating in regions that reach cleanup targets sooner enables operating costs to be reduced while ensuring a high likelihood of meeting remediation objectives. Results for an example problem demonstrate that significant performance improvement and cost reductions can be achieved using this approach.  相似文献

A method for interpolation of multicomponent streamer data based on using the local directionality structure is presented. The derivative components are used to estimate a vector field that locally describes the direction with the least variability. Given this vector field, the interpolation can be phrased in terms of the solution of a partial differential equation that describes how energy is transported between regions of missing data. The approach can be efficiently implemented using readily available routines for computer graphics. The method is robust to noise in the measurements and particularly towards high levels of low‐frequent noise that is present in the derivative components of the multicomponent streamer data.  相似文献

Algorithm for determination of all two-point rays of a given elementary wave by means of the shooting method is presented. The algorithm is designed for general 3-D models composed of inhomogeneous geological blocks separated by curved interfaces. It is independent of the initial conditions for rays and of the initial-value ray tracer. The algorithm described has been coded in Fortran 77, using subroutine packages MODEL and CRT for model specification and for initial-value ray tracing.  相似文献

基于Yang和E lgam al等人提出的砂土液化大变形本构模型,对该模型的建立过程进行了详细的推导,基于新的嵌套屈服面硬化规则,对原有模型的硬化规则的不连续性做了改进,把该本构模型扩展应用到三维液化大变形的数值分析中,实现了基于ABAQUS大型商用软件计算平台上砂土液化大变形的计算子程序的开发,基于该计算平台和开发的本构模型,对动三轴试验体系中砂土试样的液化过程进行了数值试验分析,给出了试验过程中试样的竖向动位移、整体竖向应力应变关系滞回曲线和动孔压时程曲线的数值计算结果。文中初步验证了该模型在ABAQUS上开发的子程序的可靠性和数值计算模型的可行性,模型的可靠性及其子程序的稳定性还需通过试验结果和数值计算结果的对比分析与进一步验证。  相似文献

An efficient method of computing spectrum and cross-spectrum of large scale aero-magnetic field (or of any other two-dimensional field) has been developed and programmed for a digital computer. The method uses fast Fourier transform techniques. Briefly, the method is as follows: a digitized aeromagnetic map is divided into a number of rectangular blocks. Fourier transforms of these blocks are computed using a two-dimensional fast Fourier transform method. Finally, the amplitude of the Fourier transforms is averaged to give the desired spectrum. Computation of cross-spectrum follows the same lines. In fact, the same programme may be used to a compute the spectrum as well as cross-spectrum. The method has a number of computational advantages, in particular it reduces greatly computational time and storage requirements. The programme has been tested on synthetic data as well as on real aeromagnetic data. It took less than 30 seconds on an IBM 360/50 computer to compute the spectrum of an aeromagnetic map covering an area of approximately 4500 square miles.  相似文献

A rapid, computer-based method of simulating ‘geomorphologically-sensible’ three-dimensional terrain data by modelling landform morphology is presented. For some engineering applications such an approach, even in a simple form, is preferable to the synthesis of terrain data by purely stochastic methods, and additionally can be useful where real data sets are difficult to obtain. The approach adopted utilizes a computer program which models landscape evolution by establishing a stream network on a tilted surface, with accompanying fluvial downcutting and slope adjustment. This is achieved by an iterative mechanism that combines deterministic and stochastic processes with geomorphological theory. The end-product is a matrix of high-resolution altitude data that has been used as the terrain model for a vehicle simulation exercise.  相似文献

在地球动力学和气候模拟等领域, 数值模拟产生的数据规模达到Tb至Pb量级。 实现这些海量数据的实时可视化和实时诊断分析面临很大的困难, 时空多尺度数据抽取可以解决这一瓶颈。 高精度数据的可视化结果展示需要高分辨率的显示设备, 并行的大屏幕显示技术是解决这一问题的有效手段。 地球科学数值模拟、 并行数据抽取和高分辨率显示都需要搭建高性能计算机集群。 本文在基于Lagrange插值的多维度、 多尺度、 多分辨率并行数据抽取算法的同时, 利用并行计算节点及LCD显示器, 基于Rocks cluster系统搭建起一个176核, 4×10×1024×1280分辨率的高性能计算模拟、 数据抽取和并行显示输出的集成平台, 并将该平台成功应用到气候模式模拟产生的海量数据的并行抽取和并行显示。  相似文献
