During winter 1982/83 and in early 1985, abnormal ozone deficiencies in the stratosphere were recorded at northern midlatitude stations. Ozone variations measured by ozonesondes at Hohenpeissenberg are analysed with respect to dynamic transport variations related to the quasibiennial oscillation (QBO). After the elimination of seasonal fluctuations, long-term trends and average QBO related variations, ozone time series are compared to particle surface area densities derived from lidar measurements of the stratospheric aerosol layer at Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The two stations are only 37 km apart. The analysis reveals that the 1985 ozone minimum is a transport effect, as well as most of the 1982/83 minimum. But at 17 to 20 km in 1982/83, 30 to 40% of the ozone deficiency is most probably related to the aerosol perturbation of the lower stratosphere following the April 1982 eruption of the Mexican volcano El Chichón.  相似文献

In the context of 1985—1988 ERBE and 1984—1988 ISCCP planetary scale albedoes and totalcloudiness in combination with Qinghai-Xizang actinometric measurements,investigation wasperformed of the climatic retrieval of surface absorbed shortwave radiation(SASWR)in theresearch highland.Evidence suggests that the method has given higher fitting accuracy with meanerror of 9.8 W m~(-2),whereupon was calculated the monthly mean SASWR flux density at thegridpoints of 2.5°×2.5°resolution over 25—40°N,75—95°E and 63 stations alongside a set of thedistribution maps prepared for its basic features.  相似文献

采用中国强沙尘暴序列及其支撑数据集,对1958—2007年中国沙尘暴的时间序列进行小波分析,揭示了中国沙尘暴多时间尺度的复杂结构和总体变化趋势,给出不同时间尺度下沙尘暴变化的突变点,并对未来变化趋势进行了展望。结果表明:中国沙尘暴呈明显振荡式减少趋势,距平值在1985-1986年出现转折;50a中沙尘暴变化呈现从多到少的振荡形式,其减少趋势的振荡变化主要受6—8a和2~3a尺度变化的叠加影响,6~8a尺度变化出现了4次突变;1966、1985和2001年沙尘暴出现较强的变化是多时间尺度叠加的结果。2008年后的10~15a中,沙尘暴总体减少趋势将减缓,其平均值在1958-2007年平均值和1983-2007年平均值之间,2011年前后可能出现一个接近2001和2002年平均情况的峰值,随后仍和缓减少。  相似文献

A Eulerian air pollution model for Europe with nonlinear chemistry   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A long-range transport model with nonlinear chemical reactions is described. The model contains 35 pollutants and 70 chemical reactions. This is a Eulerian model defined on a space domain containing the whole of Europe. The spherical space domain (corresponding to the Earth's surface covered by the model) is mapped into a square plane domain and discretized by using a 32×32 grid. The grid increments are equidistant (both along the Ox axis and along the Oy axis). The choice of values of the physical parameters involved in the model and the numerical treatment of the model are shortly discussed. The model is tested with meteorological data for 1985 and 1989. The numerical results are compared with measurements at stations located in different European countries. Extensive comparisons of ozone concentrations for July 1985 with measurements taken at 24 European stations are also carried out. Results concerning three episodes in July 1985 as well as results obtained in the study of the sensitivity of the ozone concentrations to variations of NO x and/or anthropogenic VOC emissions are presented. The advantages and the limitations of such a model are discussed. The model is continuously improved by adding new modules to it. The plans for improvements in the near future are outlined.  相似文献

A programme of ground-based stratospheric and total NO2 column measurements was instituted at the Laboratory of Atmospheric Physics (40.5° N, 22.9° E) in August 1985. We present here the results of the first two years of measurements with a modified Canterbury filter photometer, details of which are given in the text. The stratospheric NO2 column, obtained at twilight during low local NO2 levels, shows the seasonal variation with monthly mean values of about 6×10-15 molec. cm-2 in the summertime to about 2.2×10-15 molec. cm-2 in the wintertime. These measurements compare well with measurements obtained with different instruments by other groups at similar latitudes (about 40° N) but in different places. Also, the asymmetry of the evening-to-morning stratospheric NO2 over Thessaloniki was found to be on the average equal to 1.58. Total NO2 column over Thessaloniki has a pronounced seasonal variation with amplitude of 0.68 matm. cm which can be explained partly from measured local NO2 sources which discharge in the mixing layer and partly from photolysis of the NO2 reservoir species.  相似文献

Spatial variation of long term annual precipitation volume weighted concentrations of major chemical constituents (SO4 ?2, NO3 ?, Cl?, NH4 +, Ca+2, Mg+2, Na+ and K+ ) at all the ten Global Atmospheric Watch (GAW) stations in India for the period from 1981 to 2012 is studied in this paper. Ionic abundance and balance is studied as well. The range of long term annual mean pH at ten stations was 5.25?±?0.82 to 6.91?±?0.76, lowest at Mohanbari and highest at Jodhpur. The long term annual mean pH for the period 1981–2012 showed decreasing trend at all the stations (significant at 5 % level). Decadal mean pH among ten stations for 1981–1990, 1991–2000 and 2001–2012 ranged between 7.31 to 5.76, 7.45 to 4.92 and 6.16 to 4.77 respectively and showed decreasing trend at all the stations during 1981–1990 to 2001–12. The percentage occurrence of acidic pH (<5.65) at ten stations ranged from 3 to 72 %, lowest at Jodhpur and highest at Mohanbari and it increased from 1981–1990 to 2001–2012 almost at all the stations. Temporal variation of annual mean values of nssSO4 ?2, NO3 ?, Ca+2 and pH for the study period were attempted. Variation of nss K (non sea salt Potassium) at all the stations was studied to assess the biomass burning contribution in different regions. Non-marine (terrestrial) contribution dominated for majority of ionic constituents at most of the stations. However marine contribution was found to be dominant for Mg at Port Blair and Minicoy. Also sea salt fraction of SO4 was higher than terrestrial at Minicoy. Sources of measured ionic constituents in rain water are assessed through correlation analysis. The concentrations of all the ionic species were lowest at Kodaikanal, a high altitude hill top station and the total ionic mass was 136.0 μeq/l. Jodhpur, an arid station not only had highest concentrations of Ca+2, SO4 ?2 and K+ but also had highest total ionic content (1051.8 μeq/l) among all the stations. At Srinagar, Jodhpur, Allahabad, Nagpur and Pune stations Ca+2 was the dominant cation while dominant anion was NO3 ? for Srinagar, Allahabad, and Nagpur and Cl? for Jodhpur and Pune; at Mohanbari NO3 ? and Ca+2; at Visakhapatnam, Port Blair and Minicoy Na+ and Cl? were abundant. Temporal variation had shown an increasing trend for nssSO4 ?2 and NO3 ? and obviously decreasing trend for pH at all the stations. However, Ca+2 showed a decreasing trend at all the stations except at Port Blair. With the exception of Pune and Jodhpur stations, nssK showed a decreasing trend at all the stations revealing decreasing influence of soil/biomass burning over Indian GAW stations. Various types of satellite (AIRS/AMSU, MODIS) and ground measurements are used to analyze temperature trends in the four vertical layers (skin/surface, mid-troposphere, and low stratosphere) around the Korean Peninsula (123–132°E, 33–44°N) during the period from September 2002 to August 2010. The ground-based observations include 72 Surface Meteorological Stations (SMSs), 6 radiosonde stations (RAOBs), 457 Automatic Weather Stations (AWSs) over the land, and 5 buoy stations over the ocean. A strong warming (0.052 K yr?1) at the surface, and a weak warming (0.004~0.010 K yr?1) in the mid-troposphere and low stratosphere have been found from satellite data, leading to an unstable atmospheric layer. The AIRS/AMSU warming trend over the ocean surface around the Korean Peninsula is about 2.5 times greater than that over the land surface. The ground measurements from both SMS and AWS over the land surface of South Korea also show a warming of 0.043~0.082 K yr?1, consistent with the satellite observations. The correlation average (r = 0.80) between MODIS skin temperature and ground measurement is significant. The correlations between AMSU and RAOB are very high (0.91~0.95) in the anomaly time series, calculated from the spatial averages of monthly mean temperature values. However, the warming found in the AMSU data is stronger than that from the RAOB at the surface. The opposite feature is present above the mid-troposphere, indicating that there is a systematic difference. Warming phenomena (0.012~0.078 K yr?1) are observed from all three data sets (SMS, AWS, MODIS), which have been corroborated by the coincident measurements at five ground stations. However, it should also be noted that the observed trends are subject to large uncertainty as the corresponding 95% confidence intervals tend to be larger than the observed signals due to large thermal variability and the relatively short periods of the satellitebased temperature records. The EOF analysis of monthly mean temperature anomalies indicates that the tropospheric temperature variability near Korea is primarily linked to the Arctic Oscillation (AO), and secondarily to ENSO (El Niño and Southern Oscillation). However, the low stratospheric temperature variability is mainly associated with Southern Oscillation and then additionally with Quasi-Biennial Oscillation (QBO). Uncertainties from the different spatial resolutions between satellite data are discussed in the trends.  相似文献

Summary ?The variability of the winter mean precipitation observed at 40 rainfall stations in Emilia-Romagna (a region in northern Italy) from 1960 to 1995 is examined. The results are compared with those obtained for the whole of Italy using records from 32 stations. Temporal variability of the time series is investigated by means of Mann-Kendall and Pettitt tests, in order to estimate the presence of trends and “change points”. Before analysis the original precipitation data set have been tested to detect the inhomogeneity points, using the Standard Normal Homogeneity Test (SNHT). Almost all stations situated in Emilia Romagna exhibit a significant decreasing trend in winter precipitation during the 1960–1995 period. The same characteristics are revealed, more significant in the northern and central part of the region, when the stations for all Italy are analysed. A significant downward shift in the winter precipitation is detected through the Pettitt test in Emilia Romagna, around 1980 at some stations, while the rest of the stations reveal the shift point occurrence around 1985. A significant downward shift in the winter precipitation is detected around 1985, when analysing the time series for all Italy. Spatial variability of winter precipitation is studied using the Empirical Orthogonal Function. The first pattern indicates that a common large-scale process could be responsible for the winter precipitation variability. The second EOF pattern shows an opposite sign of climate variability, which highlights the influence of relief on the precipitation regime. The time series associated with the first precipitation pattern (PC1) at both scales emphasises a significant decreasing trend and a downward shift point around 1985. The internal structure analysis of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) index during the 1960–1995 period reveals a significant increasing trend and an upward shift around 1980. Strong correlation is also detected between PC1 (Emilia Romagna and at the scale of all Italy) and the NAO index. Thus, the changes detected in the winter precipitation around 1985 could be due to an intensification of the positive phase of the [NAO], especially after 1980. 利用中国东部地区75个高空探测站1958-2005年逐日08:00和20:00资料和元数据信息,采用昼夜温度对比和二相线性回归方法,对不同等压面的温度序列进行均一性检测和订正。在此基础上,以最大缺测率30 %作为序列取舍标准,对49个探空站订正前后的年平均温度变化趋势进行了对比分析。结果表明:探空仪器变化和辐射订正方法改变是造成中国东部地区高空温度序列非均一性的主要原因,1966年前后和2000年前后是两个较为可靠的间断点,且1966年前后的非均一性更突出。非均一性最明显的等压面主要在100 hPa。1958-2005年,500 hPa以下等压面温度的上升趋势较订正前减弱,但200 hPa到50 hPa等压面温度的下降趋势也被削弱,削弱幅度为0.04-0.08 ℃/10 a。与1958-2005年相比,1979年以来东部地区对流层各层温度增温趋势明显,而平流层底层降温趋势也更加显著,该时段内订正前后温度变化趋势差异较小。  相似文献

利用1958—2005年我国116个站探空温度序列研究了我国高空温度变化趋势。首先通过静力学质量控制和两相回归法对原始序列进行了均一化处理。我国探空温度序列存在明显的间断点, 间断点的订正对于序列的趋势影响较为显著。缺测率是影响我国探空温度序列应用性的重要因子, 也是区域平均趋势统计中台站取舍的指标, 减少台站总数会削弱我国对流层升温和平流层降温的变化趋势。分析表明: 70%作为最小资料有效率标准最为合理。为满足最小资料有效率, 选取92个站统计我国高空温度变化趋势的区域平均值。结果表明: 1958-2005年, 平流层下层和对流层上层降温, 对流层中、低层升温; 高空温度变化趋势与研究时段明显相关, 1958-1978年我国高空大气整层均为降温; 1979—2005年, 对流层中低层升温最为明显, 增暖的幅度随高度增加而减小, 400 hPa以上各层转为降温。对流层的升温始于20世纪80年代, 升温幅度与全球尺度的平均值有所不同。  相似文献

In this paper, the daily precipitation data measured at 58 meteorological stations were used, and the spatial and temporal variability of daily precipitation and precipitation extrema in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) during 1958–2007 was investigated using the indicator of discrete wavelet entropy; then, the urbanization effects were further analyzed. Results indicate that the daily precipitation variability in YRD, especially in the mid YRD with highly urbanized city clusters, is determined by the comprehensive impacts of atmospheric circulation, urbanizations, and the Taihu Lake. Compared with the results in 1958–1985, the variability of daily precipitation and precipitation extrema becomes more complex in 1986–2007, and daily precipitation variability is more complex in the mid YRD relative to the north and south. The precipitation extrema with bigger magnitudes show more complex variability. Urbanizations cause more complexity and fluctuations of daily precipitation in the mid YRD in 1986–2007, reflecting more uncertainty of daily precipitation variability, while the urbanization effects vary with regions and precipitation magnitudes. The variability of precipitation extrema with maximum values is mainly determined by natural atmospheric circulation but has little relationship with urbanizations; however, the variability of those precipitation extrema with general values is determined by both urbanizations and the Taihu Lake in YRD over the last three decades.  相似文献

Solar radiation is an important variable for studies related to solar energy applications, meteorology, climatology, hydrology, and agricultural meteorology. However, solar radiation is not routinely measured at meteorological stations; therefore, it is often required to estimate it using other techniques such as retrieving from satellite data or estimating using other geophysical variables. Over the years, many models have been developed to estimate solar radiation from other geophysical variables such as temperature, rainfall, and sunshine duration. The aim of this study was to evaluate six of these models using data measured at four independent worldwide networks. The dataset included 13 stations from Australia, 25 stations from Germany, 12 stations from Saudi Arabia, and 48 stations from the USA. The models require either sunshine duration hours (Ångstrom) or daily range of air temperature (Bristow and Campbell, Donatelli and Bellocchi, Donatelli and Campbell, Hargreaves, and Hargreaves and Samani) as input. According to the statistical parameters, Ångstrom and Bristow and Campbell indicated a better performance than the other models. The bias and root mean square error for the Ångstrom model were less than 0.25 MJ m2 day?1 and 2.25 MJ m2 day?1, respectively, and the correlation coefficient was always greater than 95 %. Statistical analysis using Student’s t test indicated that the residuals for Ångstrom, Bristow and Campbell, Hargreaves, and Hargreaves and Samani are not statistically significant at the 5 % level. In other words, the estimated values by these models are statistically consistent with the measured data. Overall, given the simplicity and performance, the Ångstrom model is the best choice for estimating solar radiation when sunshine duration measurements are available; otherwise, Bristow and Campbell can be used to estimate solar radiation using daily range of air temperature.  相似文献

用1958~2000年中国160站月降水量通过经验正交函数分解方法研究了中国汛期4~9月相邻及相隔月份降水量年际变化异常型的相关性。结果表明,就相邻月份而言,当5月份中国东南部地区降水偏多(少),则6月份长江中下游至江南地区的降水也偏多(少);7月长江流域的降水量异常与8月长江和黄河之间地区的降水量异常有很好的同号性;8月沿江西-湖南-广西一带的降水偏多(少),则9月在华南中、东部的降水也偏多(少)。另外,对相隔月份,6月南方的降水量与8月广西北部-湖南-江西一带的降水量有显著的反相关系;而7月广西北部-湖南-江西一带的降水量则与9月华南中东部降水量有显著反相关。  相似文献

NASA/GEWEX (National Aeronautics and Space Administration/Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment) Surface Radiation Budget (SRB) has released its latest radiation dataset, version 3.0. We examine the accuracy of the monthly mean global radiation in China using surface-observed radiation (SOR) data at 42 stations during the period 1984?C2004. Overall comparison shows a general overestimation of satellite retrieval radiation data with a bias of 14.6?W?m?2 and a root mean square error of 25.9?W?m?2. Differences at individual stations suggested satellite data are consistently higher than surface measurements over eastern China (110°E), but occasional underestimation occurs in Western China, especially Southwest China. Intra-annual variation analysis indicates that SRB satellite radiation can capture the annual cycle well. For trend of global radiations, there are evident discrepancies between satellite retrievals and surface measurements for both the entire period and segmental terms. For the entire period from 1984 to 2004, most stations show a positive trend based on surface measurements, while the majority of collocated pixels show a negative trend. Segmental trends demonstrated that the principal difference occurred during the first period of 1981?C1994. After 1994, the two datasets change similarly. Therefore, trend analysis in terms of detecting global dimming/brightening remains very difficult as surface measurements and satellite products do not agree yet. In addition, some proposals are made towards better understanding of the bias of satellite products and to improve further the satellite retrieval algorithm with better representation of both cloud and aerosol properties.  相似文献

This paper studies the urban heat island in Quebec City and its suburbs on one summer night. The region under study covers an area of 20 km by 20 km which streches from lake Saint-Charles on the north to Levis on the south and from the western suburb of Cap-Rouge to Beauport on the east. The total population of the region is about 400 000.On August 22, 1979 from 22:00 to 23:30 EDT, 109 measurements of wet- and dry-bulb temperatures were taken at preselected points. On that day, a large high pressure system gave clear skies to central Quebec while Quebec City Airport recorded a maximum temperature of 23 °C. The average wind measured at Duberger meteorological tower between 6 and 121 m above ground was 1.8 m s-1 at 22:00 EDT and 0.9 m s-1 at 23:30 EDT. Additional data were obtained from three thermographs installed at strategic points and five regular climatological stations, which were used to estimate cooling rates.During the period of measurement, the cooling rate averaged over the eight reference points was about 0.7 °C h-1. However, the maximum cooling rate, which occured earlier, ranged from 2.2 °C h-1 at Duberger to 4.4 °C h-1 at Courville-de-Poissy. No relation seems to exist, in our case, between the maximum cooling rate and the heat island spatial structure. Comparison of these results with the ones given by Oke et al. (1972) shows that the eight stations behaved more like rural stations than urban ones.The temperature gradient measured between the center of old Quebec City and the suburbs averaged 6 °C while it was 9 °C for the coldest spot. Clo units were used to characterize the microclimates prevailing on the region for that night; 1 clo would be sufficient for comfort downtown while 1.5 clo is needed in the coldest spot for a slowly walking person. Large open areas like parks or the Laval University campus had a definite effect on temperature.The humidity was calculated for each point using standard psychrometric tables; no significant difference could be found over the area expect at points near or above the St. Laurent river where the average dew point was 1.5 °C higher.Each point was classified into 6 categories according to its predominant land-use as reported by the observers. A multiple regression between temperature on the one hand and altitude and land-use on the other hand was tried; it showed that temperature was significantly correlated with both. Such an equation could be used by town-planners to locate temperature gradients in future urban development over the area; land uses could be planned to enhance or reduce these gradients.This study confirms the idea that urban climate is a mosaic of interacting micro-climates. More measurements, including possibly airborne infra-red thermal imagery, will be taken during winter in order to assess the winter urban climate of Quebec City.  相似文献

Airborne observations during August 1985 over Greenland and the North American Arctic revealed that dense, discrete haze layers were common above 850 mb. No such hazes were found near the surface in areas remote from local sources of particles. The haze layers aloft were characterized by large light-scattering coefficients due to dry particles (maximum value 1.24 × 10–4m–1) and relatively high total particle concentrations (maximum value 3100 cm–3). Sulfate was the dominant ionic component of the aerosol (0.06 – 1.9 g m–3); carbon soot was also present. Evidence for relatively fresh aerosols, accompanied by NO2 and O3 depletion, was found near, but not within, the haze layers. The hazes probably derived from anthropogenic sources and/or biomass burning at midlatitudes.It is hypothesized that the scavenging of particles by stratus clouds plays an important role in reducing the frequency and intensity of hazes at the surface in the Arctic in summer. Since the detection of haze layers aloft through measurements of column-integrated parameters from the surface (e.g., by lidar) cannot be carried out reliably when clouds are present, such measurements have likely underestimated the occurrence of haze layers in the Arctic, particularly in summer.  相似文献

Summary In this paper some statistical characteristics of air temperature variations over the Mediterranean are presented. The study is based on temperature data at stations in Marseille (1851–1985), Rome (1851–1985), Athens (1858–1985), and Jerusalem (1864–1985). First the homogeneity of temperature data for each station is examined by means of the short-cut Bartlett test. In another step, the existence of abrupt climatic changes towards warm or cold periods at all stations, with the exception of Athens is pointed out. Some statistical significant persistence of the annual and seasonal time series is also shown. Finally, the temperature fluctuations are examined and discussed in respect to possible causes where particularly the role of the Mediterranean Sea and the topography is considered.With 4 Figures  相似文献

Highly concentrated precipitation, where a large percentage of annual precipitation occurs over a few days, may include a high risk of flooding and severe soil erosion. Thus, areas with severe erosion such as the Loess Plateau in China are particularly vulnerable to highly concentrated precipitation events due to climate change. In this study, we investigated spatial and temporal patterns in the concentration of rainfall in the Middle Yellow River (MYR) from the last 56 years (1958–2013). We used daily and monthly precipitation data from 26 meteorological stations in the study area to calculate the precipitation concentration index (PCI) and the concentration index (CI). The southern and northern parts of the MYR were characterized by a lower CI with a decreasing trend, while the middle parts had a higher CI with an increasing trend. High PCI values occurred in the southern MYR, while lower PCIs with a more homogenous rainfall distribution were found mainly in the northern parts of the MYR. The annual PCI and CI exhibited positive trends at most stations, although only a minority of stations had significant trends (P < 0.05). At seasonal scales, CI exhibited significantly increasing trends in winter at most stations, while a few stations had significant trends in the other three seasons. These findings provide important reference information to facilitate ecological restoration and farming operations in the study region.  相似文献

Summary Recently a method has been developed to classify local-scale flow patterns from the wind measurements at a dense network of stations. It was found that in the area around Basel twelve characteristic near-surface flow patterns occur. However, as the dense network of stations was running for one year only during the MISTRAL field experiment, no reliable climatology of the flow patterns can be inferred from these data. Mainly the annual cycle is not well determined from a single year of observations. As there exist several routinely operated meteorological stations with longer data records in and near the area discussed, a method was searched to identify the local flow patterns from the wind observations at these few permanent stations. A linear discriminant analysis turned out to be the best method. Based on wind data from 11 stations which were simultaneously in operation during 1990–1995, a six-year climatology of the flow patterns could be obtained and compared to synoptic weather types. Although there are relations to existing synoptic classes there is no unique correspondence between them and the flow patterns. Received February 24, 1997 Revised June 9, 1997  相似文献
