Low-flow indices have been determined from long-term daily streamflow data for 13 catchments in Dongjiang Basin in southern China. The Brutsaert-Nieber method was applied to estimate catchment-scale effective groundwater parameters; representative values were 4.5?×?10?4 ms?1 for the hydraulic diffusivity; 3.19?×?10?5 m2 s?1/2 for the hydraulic desorptivity; 2.27?×?10?4 m s?1 for the hydraulic conductivity; and 0.2617 for the drainable porosity. The response constants correlate well with the total stream length and catchment area. Solutions of the linearised Boussinesq equation were used to guide the development of regional multivariate regression models for estimating low-flow indices from the catchment-scale effective parameters. Results showed that these catchments exhibit similar low-flow characteristics. The 7-day lowest average streamflows with return periods of 10 and 2 years (7Q10 and 7Q2) are highly correlated with the catchment-scale response constants. The low-flow ratio Q95/Q50 (ratio of daily streamflow exceeded 95 and 50% of the time, respectively) varied between 0.3 and 0.5, indicating a high proportion of groundwater in the streamflow. The advantage of the regional regression model is its conceptual basis and use of the catchment-scale effective parameters. The method has the potential to be applied to ungauged catchments for estimating low-flow statistics from stream length and catchment area.  相似文献

本文介绍了一种高粘度非牛顿模型材料流变性能的实验测定原理和方法。此法不仅可以得到材料的表观剪应变速率和非牛顿剪应变速率,还可以得到流变指数、应力指数和表观粘度。采用夹心式流变仪对M503模型材料进行了试验测定。M503是一种聚合物模型材料,由橡胶腻子XM-50(一种黑色密封材料)与滑石粉按重量1:1混炼而成。实验结果表明:M503是一种假塑性材料,当非牛顿剪应变速率控制在7.52-105.56×10-5s-1范围时,其应力指数n变化范围为1.15-3.33,表观粘度变化范围为4.69-0.99×107Pa·s。   相似文献

4He accumulated in fluids is a well established geochemical tracer used to study crustal fluid dynamics. Direct fluid samples are not always collectable; therefore, a method to extract rare gases from matrix fluids of whole rocks by diffusion has been adapted. Helium was measured on matrix fluids extracted from sandstones and mudstones recovered during the San Andreas Fault Observatory at Depth (SAFOD) drilling in California, USA. Samples were typically collected as subcores or from drillcore fragments. Helium concentration and isotope ratios were measured 4?C6 times on each sample, and indicate a bulk 4He diffusion coefficient of 3.5?±?1.3?×?10?C8 cm2?s?C1 at 21°C, compared to previously published diffusion coefficients of 1.2?×?10?C18 cm2?s?C1 (21°C) to 3.0?×?10?C15 cm2?s?C1 (150°C) in the sands and clays. Correcting the diffusion coefficient of 4Hewater for matrix porosity (??3%) and tortuosity (??6?C13) produces effective diffusion coefficients of 1?×?10?C8 cm2?s?C1 (21°C) and 1?×?10?C7 (120°C), effectively isolating pore fluid 4He from the 4He contained in the rock matrix. Model calculations indicate that <6% of helium initially dissolved in pore fluids was lost during the sampling process. Complete and quantitative extraction of the pore fluids provide minimum in situ porosity values for sandstones 2.8?±?0.4% (SD, n?=?4) and mudstones 3.1?±?0.8% (SD, n?=?4).  相似文献

Although in situ analysis by LA-ICP-MS is considered a rapid technique with minimal sample preparation and data reduction, mapping areas of millimetres in size using a small beam (< 15 μm) can be time consuming (several hours) when a quadrupole ICP-MS is used. In addition, fully quantitative imaging using internal standardisation by LA-ICP-MS is challenging in samples with more than one mineral phase present due to varying ablation rates. A new protocol for the quantification of multiple coexisting phases, mapped at a rate of about 12 mm2 h-1 and a resolution of 12 μm × 12 μm per pixel, is presented. The protocol allows mapping of most atomic masses, ranging from 23Na to 238U, using a time-of-flight mass spectrometer (ICP-ToF-MS, TOFWERK) connected to a 193 nm excimer laser. A fast-funnel device was successfully used to increase the aerosol transport speed, reducing the time usually required for mapping by a factor of about ten compared with a quadrupole ICP-MS. The lower limits of detection for mid and heavy masses are in the range 0.1–10 μg g-1, allowing determination of trace to ultra-trace elements. The presented protocol is intended to be a routine analytical tool that can provide greater access to the spatial distribution of major and trace elements in geological materials.  相似文献

Experiments on dissolution kinetics of galena were performed in 1 mol l−1 NaCl solutions at pH 0.43–2.45 and 25–75 °C. When the dissolution reaction is far from equilibrium, a linear relation exits between the dissolution rate, r, and the H+ ion activity, [H+]. The rate law for galena dissolution is given by the following equation: r=k[H+]. With respect to H+, the dissolution reaction is in the first order. The apparent rate constant, k, has values of 2.34×10−7 mol m−2 s−1 at 25 °C, 1.38×10−6 mol m−2 s−1 at 50 °C, and 7.08×10−6 mol m−2 s−1 at 75 °C. The activation energy of dissolution reaction is 43.54 kJ mol−1. The mechanism of dissolution is suggested to be surface chemical reaction, and the rate determining step is the dissociation of the Pb–S bond of the surface complex, which releases Pb2+ into the solution.  相似文献

Compacted sewage sludge as a barrier for tailing impoundment   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
The feasibility of compacted sewage sludge serving as a barrier for tailing impoundment was evaluated by the batch test and hydraulic conductivity test with respect to heavy metal retardation and impermeability. The batch test results showed that the effective removal of heavy metals approached 97.8 and 93.4% for Zn and Cd, respectively. Formation of precipitation of oxy(hydroxide) and carbonate minerals was mainly responsible for the attenuation of heavy metals in the early period of the test. Nevertheless, the further removal of heavy metals can be attributed to the sulfate reduction. The hydraulic conductivity test indicated that almost all of the heavy metals contained in simulated acid pore water were retarded by compacted sewage sludge. The hydraulic conductivity of the compacted sewage sludge ranged from 3.0 × 10−8 to 8.0 × 10−8 cm s−1, lower than 1.0 × 10−7 cm s−1, which is required by regulations for the hydraulic barrier in landfill sites. Thus, this study suggested that compacted sewage sludge could be used as a bottom barrier for tailing impoundment.  相似文献

The gaseous state and chemical inert behavior of radon make it important tracer for the radon transport study through the building materials. The radon resistant property of building construction materials is important parameter to control the indoor radon levels in living and workplaces. The materials with higher radium content can be made less severe by the use of some building materials of low diffusion coefficient and diffusion length. This makes the study of radon diffusion through building material more important along with the study of exhalation and radioactivity content. Keeping this in mind the radon diffusion study was carried out through different building construction materials used for wall and floor by active and passive techniques. The diffusion coefficient from these building materials measured by passive methods varied from (0.9 ± 0.5) × 10?7 to (22.95 ± 13.19) × 10?6 m2s?1 and radon diffusion length varied from 0.21 to 3.31 m for cement, soil, sand, wall putty and plaster of Paris (POP) etc. The radon diffusion coefficient measured by active technique varied from 1.93 × 10?10 to 1.36 × 10?7 m2s?1 for samples with definite geometry like paper, polyethylene, marble, granite etc. The radon diffusion coefficient and diffusion length depend upon the porosity and density of materials for powder samples.  相似文献

本文对塔里木盆地二叠纪大火成岩省中瓦吉里塔格地区超镁铁质隐爆角砾岩进行了铂族元素(PGE)和主、微量及稀土元素分析和研究。结果显示,隐爆角砾岩中Os、Ir、Ru、Rh、Pt和Pd含量分别为0.36×10-9~1.08×10-9、0.23×10-9~0.44×10-9、0.29×10-9~0.92×10-9、0.11×10-9~0.18×10-9、1.88×10-9~3.16×10-9和1.39×10-9~3.52×10-9,均低于原始地幔,与夏威夷苦橄岩相似。该岩石的Pd/Ir比值在3.6~11.9之间,PGE分配模式呈一条正倾斜的曲线,表现出一定程度的分异,具有非俯冲背景下产生的基性-超基性岩的PGE配分特点。略高于原始地幔但变化较小的Cu/Pd比值(5.1×104~12.1×104)表明其岩浆在上升侵位过程中并没有发生明显的饱和硫化物熔离作用,而岩浆源区在部分熔融过程中可能有少量残留的硫化物存在。隐爆角砾岩全岩的IPGE元素与MgO之间基本上呈正相关,而PPGE元素与MgO之间则略成负相关或无明显相关性,指示PGE的分异主要受到橄榄石结晶分异作用的控制。地球化学特征显示隐爆角砾岩的稀土元素总量高度富集(964.1×10-6~1299×10-6)和轻、重稀土强烈分馏((La/Yb)N=45.88~64.90),且微量元素蛛网图上大离子亲石元素富集和Nb、Ta的轻微亏损以及Zr、Hf的明显贫化,表明岩石可能遭受一定程度的地幔交代作用影响。但是,角砾与胶结物具有相近的PGE特征表明交代作用对PGE的影响并不大,暗示PGE可能主要赋存于禁锢在硅酸盐矿物内的硫化物包裹体中。  相似文献

Tracer diffusion coefficients of 153Gd and 152Eu in olivine tholeiite have been determined at temperatures between 1150 and 1440°C. The results are identical for both tracers within experimental error. Between 1440 and 1320°C the diffusion coefficients are given by D(Eu, Gd) = 0.058 exp(?40,600/ RT). Between 1320 and 1210°C, the diffusion coefficients are constant at D = (1.4 ± 0.4) × 10?7 cm2s?1 and between 1210 and 1150°C, the D values drop irregularly to 4 × 10?9 cm2s?1. The liquidus temperature (1270°C) lies within the region of constant D. Such anomalous behavior has not been encountered in previous studies of Ca, Sr, Ba and Co diffusion in basalt. To explain the constant D value near the liquidus, we speculate that the structure of the melt changes as a function of temperature in such a way that the normal temperature dependence of the diffusivity is compensated. For example, the rare earth ions may be displaced from their (high temperature) octahedral coordination sites to other sites where they are more readily dissociated and therefore become progressively more mobile. The behavior below 1210°C may be the result of relatively stable complexes or molecules in the melt or of the formation of a REE bearing crystalline phase that has so far escaped detection. Preliminary results for Eu diffusion in obsidian are D (Eu, 800°C) = 5 × 10?13 cm2 s?1 and D (Eu, 950°C) = 1.5 × 10?11 cm2 s?1. These data are consistent with an activation energy of 59 Kcal mole?1. These low diffusivities indicate that the partitioning of REE in crystallizing intermediate and acidic melts may be controlled by diffusion in the melt rather than equilibrium between the crystal surface and the bulk melt.The diffusion data are applied to partial melting in the mantle, in an attempt to explain how LREE enriched tholeiites may be derived from a LREE depleted mantle source. In this model LREE diffuse from garnet bearing regions that have small melt fractions into garnet free regions that have relatively large melt fractions. REE diffusion is so slow that this process is quantitatively significant only in small partially molten bodies (diameter ~1 km or less) or in larger, but strongly flattened bodies. Internal convective motion during diapiric rise would also increase the efficiency of the process.  相似文献

Strain rate during testing, uniaxial or triaxial, has important influence on the measured mechanical properties of rocks. Uniaxial compression tests were performed at nine pre-specified static-to-quasistatic strain rates (ranging from 1 × 10?5 to 1 × 10?1 s?1) on coarse crystal marble. The aim is to gain deep insight into the influence of strain rate on characteristic stresses, deformation properties and conversion of strain energy of such rock. It is found that the strain rate of 5 × 10?3 s?1 is the threshold to delineate the failure modes the tested coarse marble behaves in. At a strain rate less than this threshold, single-plane shear and conjugate X-shaped shear are the main failure modes, while beyond this threshold, extensile and splitting failures are dominant. The stress for crack initiation, the critical stress for dilation, the peak stress, and Young’s modulus are all found to increase with strain rate, with an exception that the above stresses and modulus appear relatively low compared to the strain rate in the range of between 1 × 10?4 and 5 × 10?3 s?1. The pre-peak absorbed strain energy, damage strain energy and elastic strain energy are found to increase with strain rate. In addition, the elastic strain energy stored before peak point favors brittle failure of the specimen, as the more stored elastic energy in the specimen, the stronger the fragmenting.  相似文献

A workflow is described to estimate specific storage (S s) and hydraulic conductivity (K) from a profile of vibrating wire piezometers embedded into a regional aquitard in Australia. The loading efficiency, compressibility and S s were estimated from pore pressure response to atmospheric pressure changes, and K was estimated from the earliest part of the measurement record following grouting. Results indicate that S s and K were, respectively, 8.8?×?10?6 to 1.2?×?10?5 m?1 and 2?×?10?12 m s?1 for a claystone/siltstone, and 4.3?×?10?6 to 9.6?×?10?6 m?1 and 1?×?10?12 to 5?×?10?12 m s?1 for a thick mudstone. K estimates from the pore pressure response are within one order of magnitude when compared to direct measurement in a laboratory and inverse modelled flux rates determined from natural tracer profiles. Further analysis of the evolution and longevity of the properties of borehole grout (e.g. thermal and chemical effects) may help refine the estimation of formation hydraulic properties using this workflow. However, the convergence of K values illustrates the benefit of multiple lines of evidence to support aquitard characterization. An additional benefit of in situ pore pressure measurement is the generation of long-term data to constrain groundwater flow models, which provides a link between laboratory scale data and the formation scale.  相似文献

Fine- to medium-grained sand transported as bedload moves in lanes parallel to the flow that are thought to be preserved as parting lineation. A series of six flume experiments was designed to discover the morphology and spacing of these lanes, here called sand streaks, as functions of local shear velocity, U* (9 × 10-3 to 4.8 × 10-2 m s-1), depth (5 × 10-2 and 9.5 × 10-2 m), mean grain diameter (150, 200, 290, 1380 μm), and sediment bedload concentration (0.0–0.39). Low U* flows produce predominantly straight, non-intersecting sand streaks, moderate U* flows produce sub-parallel and en échelon sand streaks, and moderate to high U* flows produce wavy sand streaks and secondary streaks with a spacing an order of magnitude larger. The wavy sand streaks are thought to be composed of sand grains in suspension close to the bed. An upper grain-size limit for the sand streak structure occurs at a grain size between 290 and 1380μm. The spacings of the fine-and medium-grained sand streaks, at low to moderate U* (0.9 × 10-2 to 3 × 10-2m s-1), are similar to those predicted for low-speed fluid streaks, although the fine-grained sand forms more closely-spaced streaks than the medium-grained sand. The spacings of sand streaks formed at moderate to high U* and at bedload concentrations greater than 0.15, are wider than those predicted for the low-speed fluid streaks. The wider spacing is thought to reflect a new type of flow immediately above the moving bed layer in which the formation of low-speed streaks is inhibited. This results from an increase in either grain concentration or grain size. The spacing of parting lineation, also wider than that predicted for low-speed streaks, may reflect this.  相似文献

Solubilities of noble gases in magnetite were determined by growing magnetite in a noble-gas atmosphere between 450 and 700°K. Henry's law is obeyed at pressures up to 10?2 atm for He, Ne, Ar and up to 10?5 atm for Kr, Xe, with the following distribution coefficients at 500° (cc STP g?1 atm?5): He 0.042, Ne 0.016, Ar 3.6, Kr 1.3, Xe 0.88, some 102–105 times higher than previous determinations on silicate and fluoride melts. Apparent heats of solution in kcal/mole are: He ?2.42 ±0.12, Ne ?2.20 ±0.10, Ar ?15.25 ±0.25, Kr ?13.0 ±0.3, Xe ?12-5 ± 0.5. These values, too, stand in sharp contrast with earlier determinations on melts which were small and positive, but are comparable to the values for clathrates. Presumably the gases are held in anion vacancies.Extrapolation of the magnetite data to the formation temperature of C1 chondrites, 360°K, shows that the Arp36 content of Orgueil magnetite could be acquired by equilibrium solubility at a total nebular pressure of 4 × 10?6 atm. In the absence of data for silicates (the principal host phase of planetary gas), an attempt is made to estimate the solubilities required to account for planetary gases in meteorites. These values do not appear grossly unreasonable in the light of the magnetite data, when structural differences between the two minerals are taken into account. It seems that equilibrium solubility may be able to account for four features of planetary gas: elemental ratios, amounts, correlations with other volatiles and retentive siting. It cannot account for the isotopic fractionation of planetary gas, however.  相似文献

Physical and hydraulic properties of sediment from two karst aquifers were measured to determine (1) the similarity of sediment between karst aquifer systems and (2) the importance of sediment in modeling flow through karst aquifers. The sediment from the two systems was similar in size and composition. Within both aquifers, the silt-sized sediment was composed primarily of quartz, with minor amounts of plagioclase and clays. Hydraulic conductivity of the sediment measured directly (falling-head test) ranged from 1.61×10−7 to 1.33×10−6 m s–1 and estimated using the Campbell equation ranged from 8.30×10−8 to 8.98×10−7 m s–1. These values of hydraulic conductivity fall within the span of hydraulic conductivities for carbonate rocks, indicating that the sediment and carbonate matrix could be represented as one mathematical unit in modeling flow through karst aquifers. Statistical agreement in the hydraulic conductivity values generated by the two methods indicates that the estimation technique could be used to calculate hydraulic conductivities; thus allowing karst scientist to collect bulk sediment samples instead of having to collect cores from within karst aquifers. Heat flow and the origin of helium in natural gases from fault basins of the continental rift-valley in eastern China are discussed in terms of helium isotope geochemistry.3He/4He ratios in natural gases from the rift-valley range from 2.23 × 10−7 to 7.21 × 10−6, which are directly proportional to the concentration of helium and ΣNHC/ΣHC ratio in natural gases. Geological and isotope geochemical data suggest that helium in natural gases consists predominantly of crustal radio-genic and upper mantle-derived helium. In a simple mixing pattern between crustal He and mantle-derived He, mantle-derived helium in natural gases would account for 10–60%. Calculated values for heat flow (Q) range from 59.7 to 82.4mWm−2, of which about 60 percent in the rift-valley is derived from the upper mantle. Natural helium reservoirs would be found in the areas where the upper mantle uplifted greatly and heat flow is large in the continental rift-valley. We have analyzed HCN(1-0) and CS(2-1) line profiles obtained with high signal-to-noise ratios toward distinct positions in three selected objects in order to search for small-scale structure in molecular cloud cores associated with regions of high-mass star formation. In some cases, ripples were detected in the line profiles, which could be due to the presence of a large number of unresolved small clumps in the telescope beam. The number of clumps for regions with linear scales of ~0.2–0.5 pc is determined using an analytical model and detailed calculations for a clumpy cloud model; this number varies in the range: ~2 × 104–3 × 105, depending on the source. The clump densities range from ~3 × 105–106 cm?3, and the sizes and volume filling factors of the clumps are ~(1–3) × 10?3 pc and ~0.03–0.12. The clumps are surrounded by inter-clump gas with densities not lower than ~(2–7) × 104 cm?3. The internal thermal energy of the gas in the model clumps is much higher than their gravitational energy. Their mean lifetimes can depend on the inter-clump collisional rates, and vary in the range ~104–105 yr. These structures are probably connected with density fluctuations due to turbulence in high-mass star-forming regions.  相似文献

Electron transport properties of single crystal and polycrystalline natural mineral galena (PbS) samples from the Trep?a mine, Yugoslavia, were determined using the photoacoustic frequency transmission technique. Their thermal diffusivity (D T≈0.16 × 10?5 m2 s?1), the coefficient of diffusion (D between 0.15×10?2 0.16×10?2 m2 s?1) and lifetime of the excess carrier (τ≈35 μs and the front and rear recombination velocity (s g≈65.5 m s?1 and s b≈66.4 m s?1, respectively), were calculated by comparing the experimental results and the theoretical photoacoustic amplitude and phase signals. The lattice parameter obtained by X-ray work was a?=5.936?Å. The free carrier concentration of these single-crystal samples was measured using the Hall method (N?=?3×1018 cm?3). Measurements of the optical reflectivity of the same samples, as a function of wavelength, in the infrared and far infrared ranges, were performed. In the far infrared range a free electron plasma frequency was observed and numerically analyzed, using the least-squares fitting procedure. The values of optical parameters were calculated and the value of the free carrier concentration obtained by the Hall method was confirmed.  相似文献

Interdiffusion coefficients of Al + Al vs. Mg + Si in the gehlenite–åkermanite system of melilite were determined by coupled annealing of synthesized end-member single crystals. The observed diffusion coefficients for a couple-annealed sample vary for about 2 orders of magnitude, showing strong dependence on the gehlenite–åkermanite composition: diffusion coefficient observed at 1350 °C, for example, is 3 × 10?13 cm2 s?1 at 5 mol% åkermanite composition (Ak5), increases to 2 × 10?11 cm2 s?1 at Ak80, and then decreases to 1 × 10?12 cm2 s?1 at Ak95. The diffusion coefficient–temperature relation indicates high activation energy of diffusion of about 420 kJ mol?1 for gehlenite-rich melilite. The observed diffusion coefficient–composition relation may be explained by a combination of (1) the diffusion coefficient–melting temperature relation (Flynn's rule) and (2) the feasibility of local charge compensation, which can possibly be maintained more easily in the intermediate chemical composition. The high activation energy value for gehlenitic melilite appears to correspond to the complex diffusion mechanism. The observed highly variable diffusion coefficients suggest that gehlenite–åkermanite zoning in the melilite crystals in Ca, Al-rich inclusions in the carbonaceous meteorites may provide a sensitive indicator for the thermal history of the inclusions.  相似文献
