在单轴压力下对具有锯口面的岩石样品的破裂和摩擦滑动进行了实验室试验。当锯口面与轴应力方向垂直时(拼合样品),研究了岩石的强度,破裂形态和前兆。对于锯口面与加载轴成65°和75°的样品,发现在宏观断裂发生之前有粘滑现象发生。粘滞时的应力降和轴向位移的变化比断裂时要小得多。实验发现,在锯口样品中的断裂往往从锯口一侧发生,穿过间断面而向另一侧发展。本文还简要地讨论了这些结果的意义。  相似文献

This work criticizes the entrenched views according to which the orientation of the principal tectonic stress axes can be determined from local (in time and space) observations of the kinematic indicators which jointly allow estimating the strain rate of a crustal block under study. The criticized approach ignores or replaces by subjective assumptions the following factors: (1) The block’s interaction with a hosting medium expressed in terms of the equilibrium conditions of the block; (2) The stress rate which (in addition to stresses) can affect the strain rate; (3)The specific macroscopic mechanical properties of the block’s material under the unknown sought stresses, including the ratio of the stress relaxation time to the period of observations. This approach, which is developed in some Solid Earth sciences and mainly in tectonophysics, is referred to in our paper as the method of local kinematic reconstruction (MLKR) of stresses. After briefly surveying the concept of forces and stresses and discussing the importance of studying the tectonic stresses, this paper refutes the MLKR notions based on general arguments and by the example of certain thought experiments. It is shown that the use of the MLKR for the conditions of the Earth’s interior does not guarantee against obtaining the results that fundamentally and drastically differ from the true tectonic stresses. In the studied rock block, depending on the factors ignored in the MLKR, the principal axes of the strain rate tensor, on one hand, and the principal stress axes, on the other hand, can be oriented discordantly in any arbitrary given fashion. In particular, in the processes accompanied by the release of elastic energy, the maximal rate of elongation can be oriented along the axis of maximal compression, whereas the maximal rate of shortening can be aligned with the axis of the maximal tension. In this paper, the deformation processes that are most detrimental to the results of stress reconstruction by the MLKR are revealed. We introduce the notion of the inherited stress-state regime in which the orientation of the axes of principal stresses during the observation period does not depend on the deformation process and, hence, cannot be in principle determined by the MLKR. An attempt to directly locally recover the stress axes from the kinematic data is a false objective because neither the physical meaning of the stress tensor nor the way it is introduced has anything to do with strains. It is concluded that the MLKR is physically inadequate and that the tectonophysical concept of locality should be abandoned in favor of returning to the notions of classical physics, namely, to using the conservation laws. By the example of several guides on tectonophysics, this paper exposes typical errors in understanding the stress reconstruction problem.  相似文献

在野外原地对某些自然状态非饱和的土层及含裂隙矽化灰岩电阻率随应变的变化进行了实验.主要结果有:1)低应力下,随体积的压缩电阻率下降;体积膨胀时电阻率上升;2)所测岩、土层电阻率相对变化(/)对微小应变()的变化响应甚为敏感,裂隙岩层比土层更甚.放大系数(/)/与应变量有关,对10-4应变通常有一、二百倍,对10-5应变可达数百乃至上千倍;3)电阻率相对变化幅度随力源强度和尺度的增加而增加,随力源距离的增加而衰减.电阻率变化起始时间随距离的增加显示出滞后现象;4)水平各向同性土层,在应力作用下,不同方向电阻率变化不同,呈现出方向性.通常垂直最大压缩方向的电阻率 下降较多,平行方向的∥下降较小或略有上升,与压力呈45的45下降幅度介于中等.含裂隙矽化灰岩则不同,不同方向电阻率的变化不仅与压缩方向有关,而且还与裂隙方向有关.通常是∥下降较多.当压应力平行裂隙时, 也下降,但当压应力垂直裂隙时, 则明显上升.   相似文献

Petrophysical measurements were carried out on dry specimens of mica-gneiss, amphibolite and serpentinite from KTB core samples and samples of surface outcrops in order to determine the effect that a deviatoric stress field, as observed at the KTB area, may have on the in-situ rock properties. Simulating the variation of the actual principal stresses and temperature with depth, seismic wave velocities, densities, linear and volumetric strain (porosity) have been measured, taking into account the overall spatial orientation of the foliation at the KTB area with respect to the principal stress axes. Comparison with respective data evaluated for lithostatic pressure conditions revealed that the stress-related (crack-related) effect on wave velocities respectively on velocity anisotropy is in the range 1–3%, due to microcracks which are selectively closed or kept open by the deviatoric stress. The effect of the deviatoric stress is particularly documented by shear wave splitting due to microfractures that are oriented normal to the minimum principal stress axis.  相似文献

We study wave propagation through isotropic and anisotropic scatterer distributions in order to observe azimuthal variations in velocity and apparent attenuation. Using thin aluminum plates as physical models, we obtained seismograms for compressional and shear wave propagation through heterogeneous media. Three random distributions of scatterers are studied: circular scatterers in isotropic distributions (modeling circular scatterers), elongated scatterers in isotropic distributions (modeling randomly oriented elliptical scatterers), and elongated scatterers in anisotropic distributions (modeling aligned elliptical scatterers). All scatterers had approximately the same cross-sectional area and were filled with epoxy in order to reduce the impedance contrast. In addition to seismograms recorded for no scatterers, seismograms were recorded for several scatterer volume fractions. Azimuths were measured relative to the long axis of the aligned elongated scatterers. Velocities were calculated using travel times and phase shifts at low frequencies. The velocities measured from the data were compared to simple low-frequency average-velocity theories based on thin lamellae or on distributions of penny-shaped cracks. The apparent attenuation for different scatterer distributions was computed using spectral ratios.Comparisons of the results for circular and randomly oriented elongated scatterers were made to determine the effects of scatterer shape. As expected, the circular and randomly oriented elongated scatterers showed no systematic azimuthal variation in velocity. The velocity anomalies were systematically larger for the randomly oriented elongated scatterers than for the circular scatterers. Both methods of theoretical estimation for the isotropic velocities produced velocities significantly larger than those measured. The spectral ratios showed more apparent attenuation for the randomly oriented elongated scatterers than for the circular scatterers.Comparisons of the results for the randomly oriented and aligned elongated scatterers were made to determine the effects of anisotropy in the scatterer distribution. Compressional waves for the aligned elongated scatterers with wave propagation parallel to the scatterers had larger velocities than for the aligned elongated scatterers with wave propagation perpendicular to the scatterers for all velocity calculations. Shear wave velocities were complicated by an anomalous phase change in the shear wave seismograms for azimuths less than 40° and were not as conclusive. The general trend of the theoretical velocities is similar to the velocities calculated from the data. There are, however, what appear to be significant differences. The spectral ratios showed more apparent attenuation for the randomly oriented elongated scatterers than for the aligned elongated scatterers with wave propagation parallel to the scatterers, and less attenuation than for the aligned elongated scatterers with wave propagation perpendicular to the scatterers.  相似文献

In situ stress measurements in a borehole close to the Nojima Fault   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Abstract In situ stress was measured close to the fault associated with the 1995 Kobe Earthquake (Hyogo-ken Nanbu earthquake; January 1995; M 7.2) using the hydraulic fracturing method. The measurements were made approximately 2 years after the earthquake. The measured points were approximately 40 m from the fault plane at depths of about 1500 m. The maximum and the minimum horizontal compressive stresses were 45 MPa and 31 MPa, respectively. The maximum compressive stress and the maximum shear stress are very small in comparison with those of other seismically active areas. The azimuth of the maximum horizontal compressive stress was estimated from the observed azimuths of well bore breakouts at depths between 1400 m and 1600 m and was found to be N135° (clockwise). The maximum stress axis is perpendicular to the fault strike, N45°. These features are interpreted in terms of a small frictional coefficient of the fault. The shear stress on the fault was released and dropped almost to zero during the earthquake and it has not yet recovered. Zero shear stress on the fault plane resulted from the perpendicular orientation of one of the principal stress to the fault plane.  相似文献

介质的弹性常数为三维四阶张量的分量,共有81个,由于应力张量和应变张量的对称性及能量密度是应变的二次函数,一般各向异常性介质的独立弹性常数可减为21个,如果介质具有较高的对称性,独立弹性常数的数目会更少。 对于地壳和上地幔,具有5个独立弹性常数的横向各向同性介质是一个非常好的近似,本研究中横向各向同性介质的对称轴方向可以是任意的(即对称轴可以不平等于铅直方向),在此情况下,需要进行坐标变换,如果已知介质在某一坐标系(其坐标轴平行或垂直于介质的对称轴)中的弹性常数,我们能够容易地利用变换公式得到变换后新坐标系中的弹性常数。 本文提出了一种方案,利用伪谱法既能模拟横向各向同性介质中的平面波,也能模拟点源激发的波场。在勘探地球物理和地震学中,模拟横向各向同性介拮中传播的平面波及区域源产生的波是最重要的研究课题之一。然而在一般各向异性介质中,很难或不可能确定弹性波的相速度和偏振方向,但在横向各向同性介质中,则可以通过坐标变换来实现,这里我们所提出的方法可以用于横向各向同性介质中弹性波的模拟。  相似文献

Vertical variations in magnetic fabric and paragenesis of the ferrimagnetic minerals for a virtually upright dyke of the Altenberg syenogranite porphyry were investigated using profile data of borehole E-16 to a depth of 922.7 m (Eastern Kru né hory Mts., NW Bohemia). It was revealed that this dyke likely consists of two magma pulses indicated both by magnetic fabric and by opaque mineralogy. In most of the profile, the magnetite grains are oriented parallel to the sub-vertical dyke. Only at the base of the upper magma pulse, in a depth interval of 200–400 m, are these grains oriented sub-horizontally being thus perpendicular to the dyke walls. This pattern can be interpreted as a consequence of a static vertical compaction of the magma of the basal portions of the upper pulse due to the pressure of the ascending lower pulse. The large planes of the ferrimagnetic minerals are oriented perpendicular to the shortening direction.  相似文献

Analytical results are presented for the dynamic interaction of an elastic flexural plate and an elastic half-space subjected to harmonic seismic waves. Displacements and contact stresses are presented for square, massless plates having a practical range of flexural stiffness and subjected to incident waves oriented parallel to either an edge or a diagonal of the plate. The behaviour of massive plates is also briefly discussed; such plates exhibit additional resonances higher than those normally associated with the motion of a rigid mass.  相似文献

用光学法和发射-接收法研究了水与流体饱和孔隙介质界面上声波的非镜面反射声场.测量了入射角θi为16°-80°范围内的反射系数R,记录了θi在Rayleigh波临界角θc附近±4°范围内两束反射波的反射角、波束位移△、波形和频谱.实验发现:(1)在θc附近±4°范围内,观察到θi两束反射波A和B,其中波束B沿界面有波束位移△,实验测出△随θi增大而减小,并非在θic时最大.(2)反射角等于θi的波束的频谱很接近于入射波的频谱,反射角等于θc的波束的频谱相对于入射波有频谱的负偏移.(3)波束A的相位与发射换能器直达波的相位一致,波束B的相位与波束A相反  相似文献

A review ofin situ stress measurements at eight regional localities in Africa south of the 15°S parallel shows that average directions of the horizontal pricipal stresses are N-S and E-W. These directions agree with principal stress orientations deduced from earthquake fault plane solutions. However, the maximum and minimum principal horizontal stresses are not consistently oriented parallel to either the N-S or E-W direction; they may vary within an individual region because of local geological structures and from region to region. At the sites within the Witwatersrand sediments (all at depths greater than 500 m) the maximum stress tends to lie NW-SE but at three of the four sites outside the Witwatersrand sediments (all at depths less than 500 m) this stress is oriented approximately N-S.The data reported here are compared with horizontal stresses predicted for Southern Africa bySolomon, Sleep andRichardson (1975) from various plate tectonic driving force models. The agreement between orientations is fair for all sites but only the deép sites in the Witwatersrand sediments have comparable stress magnitudes.  相似文献

Consideration of the behaviour of elastic bodies shows that it is not possible for a set of overcoring measurements that are made within isolated blocks to show residual strains or stresses that have a non-zero average, unless the size of the equilibrium volume over which the residual stresses balance is both considerably larger than the volume of the overcore and smaller than the size of the isolated block. Since some results have been reported that do not match these constraints, non-elastic behaviour must have occurred during overcoring. A possible explanation, is that oriented microcracks are somehow opened by the overcoring. In some cases, stress fields induced by microcracking near the overcoring cut may explain measured strain changes far from the cut. Consideration of various reported measurements in terms of relative sizes of overcoring and equilibrium volumes shows that care is necessary when interpreting residual stress measurements.  相似文献

The regional stress field at Wald-Michelbach (Odenwald Mountains, Germany) induces a secondary stress field around the space of the local railway tunnel. Resulting maximum shear stresses produce microfractures, which emit electromagnetic radiation (EMR). From EMR measured along the cross section and the long axis of the tunnel, the regional stress field is determined by a correlation of detected impulses per time with stresses calculated from the orientation of the tunnel, its diameter, and topographic load. The major horizontal principal stress has an azimuth of 103°. At times, strongly alternating EMR values are observed, which indicate electromagnetic disturbances of unknown origin. Such disturbances are identified by repeated measurements and are not evaluated. The repeated measurements, which are not disturbed, differ with median 112 impulses per 100 ms. This difference corresponds to 0.037 MPa and indicates a good reproducibility of the results. Regional stress magnitudes and the WNW-ESE orientation of the major horizontal principal stress indicate a minor N – S directed tensional force at the western shoulder of the Upper Rhine Graben.  相似文献

Complex electrical resistivity and permeability were measured on two gneiss samples and nine amphibolites (originally located at a depth of 4150 m to 5012 m) from the main drilling of the German deep drilling project (KTB). Measurements were performed as a function of hydrostatic pressures up to 240 MPa on core samples (30 mm in diameter and 10–20 mm high). For each measurement, two samples were used, one being parallel, and one perpendicular to the borehole axis. At low pressures and again at maximum pressure the frequency dispersion (1 kHz up to 1 MHz) of the complex resistivity was measured using a two electrode device. An unusual pressure effect was detected on some of the samples and was established to be due to the oriented deposition of good conducting phases in the foliation. Rock fabric and the orientation of ore mineralization was measured on thin sections and polished sections prepared from the same samples.  相似文献

本文在实验室对所获取的东营地区层理发育的低孔隙度页岩和泥岩的各向异性裂纹演化特性进行了研究,获得了各向同性条件下泥页岩的力学与超声波响应特性,分析了应力幅度对于页岩声波速度和各向异性的影响.主要结论包括:(1)泥页岩在循环载荷下存在滞后效应,表明其经历了去压实或油气产生导致的超压;(2)泥岩和页岩具有不同程度的各向异性,随着各向同性压力的增高微裂隙逐渐闭合,样品的各向异性程度减弱;(3)分析了岩石韧度和裂纹损伤参数随压力的变化特征,相比泥岩,页岩各向异性程度更高,随压力变化更明显,其裂纹导致的附加各向异性更强;(4)分析了各向异性岩石的动态弹性模量特征,由于软裂隙空间的闭合,动态弹性模量在低压条件下都随着围压的增加有硬化趋势.  相似文献

Wave action is a fundamental mechanism in seacliff erosion, whereby wave undercutting creates an unstable cantilevered seacliff profile and can lead to large catastrophic cliff failures, thus threatening coastal infrastructure. This study investigated the instability of two such failures that occurred in Solana Beach, California, by combining terrestrial LIDAR scanning, cantilever beam theory and finite element analysis. Each landslide was detected by evaluating the surface change between subsequent high resolution digital terrain models derived from terrestrial LIDAR data. The dimensions of failed cantilever masses were determined using the surface change measurements and then incorporated into failure stress analysis. Superimposing stress distributions computed from elastic cantilever beam theory and finite element modeling provided a method to back‐calculate the maximum developed tensile and shear stresses along each failure plane. The results of the stress superposition revealed that the bending stresses caused by the cantilevered load contributed the majority of stress leading to collapse. Both shear and tensile failure modes were investigated as potential cliff failure mechanisms by using a comparison of the back‐calculated failure stresses to material strengths found in laboratory testing. Based on the results of this research, the tensile strength of the cliff material was exceeded at both locations, thus causing the cliffs to collapse in tension.
