Scattering of elastic waves by three-dimensional canyons embedded within an elastic half-space is investigated by using a wave function expansion technique. The geometry of the canyon is assumed to be non-axisymmetric. The canyon is subjected to incident plane Rayleigh waves and oblique incident SH, SV and P waves. The unknown scattered wavefield is expressed in terms of spherical wave functions which satisfy the equations of motion and radiation conditions at infinity, but they do not satisfy stress-free boundary conditions at the half-space surface. The boundary conditions are imposed locally in the least-squares sense at several points on the surface of the canyon and the half-space. Through a comparative study the validity and limitations of two-dimensional approximations (antiplane strain and plane strain models) have been examined. It is shown that scattering of waves by three-dimensional canyons may cause substantial change in the surface displacement patterns in comparison to the two-dimensional models. These results emphasize the need for three-dimensional modelling of realistic problems of interest in strong ground motion seismology and earthquake engineering.  相似文献

A three-layer elastic-gravitational fault displacement model using dislocation theory has been developed and used to examine the effect of layering of earth elastic moduli on surface and subsurface displacement fields for a vertical strike-slip fault. The model has been used to examine the effect of depth variation of elastic properties at coseismic and postseismic time scales. For pure strike-slip motion the effect of gravity on coseismic and postseismic horizontal deformation is negligible. For coseismic deformation the model predicts that (for constant Poisson's ratio) an increase in elastic moduli with depth attenuates the displacements within the upper layers with respect to displacement distribution for a uniform half-space, while an inclusion of a soft layer between the top layer and lower half-space amplifies upper layer displacements. The effect of variation in Poisson's ratio on surface and subsurface displacements has also been examined.The effect of postseismic stress relaxation on surface and subsurface displacements for a three-layer model has been calculated and compared with that of a uniformly relaxed half-space model. Layer 1 is assumed to correspond to the upper crust, layer 2 the lower crust and layer 3 the upper mantle. The effect of postseismic stress relaxation within a uniform half-space and within just the lower crust and upper mantle has been examined. Stress relaxation within the whole half-space decreases the amplitude and shortens the wavelength of displacements, while stress relaxation within the lower two layers increases the amplitude and broadens the wavelength of displacements. The difference between uniform and layered postseismic relaxation is particularly pronounced at the base of the crust.Coseismic and postseismic normal and volumetric strains for a vertical strike-slip fault have also been examined. For a uniformly relaxed half-space model, an increase in normal strains is shown with respect to the coseismic elastic solution, whereas the postseismic volumetric strain is effectively zero. For a three-layer model with stress relaxation in the lower layers only, the normal and volumetric strains within the top elastic layer resemble coseismic strains, while in the lower layers which suffer a rigidity decrease, the postseismic volumetric strain is effectively zero.  相似文献

Scattering of plane harmonic SH, P, SV and Rayleigh waves by several inclusions of arbitrary shape, completely embedded into an elastic half-space, is considered. Perfect bonding between the half-space and the inclusions is assumed. The problem is investigated for linear, isotropic and homogeneous elastic materials. The displacement field is evaluated throughout the elastic medium so that the continuity conditions between the half-space and the inclusions are satisfied in mean-square sense. Numerical results of the surface displacement field are evaluated for single and two elliptic inclusions. The results show the following: (a) presence of a subsurface inhomogeneity may lead to large amplifications of the surface ground motion; (2) different surface displacement patterns emerge for different incident waves; (3) the presence of an additional inclusion may change significantly the surface displacement response of a single inclusion; (4) the surface motion extremes strongly depend upon (i) angle of incidence; (ii) frequency of incident field; (iii) embedment depth of the inclusions; (iv) separation distance between the inclusions; (v) material properties of the half-space and the inclusions; and (vi) location of observation point on the surface of the half-space.  相似文献

We present results of processed microseismic events induced by hydraulic fracturing and detected using dual downhole monitoring arrays. The results provide valuable insight into hydraulic fracturing. For our study, we detected and located microseismic events and determined their magnitudes, source mechanisms and inverted stress field orientation. Event locations formed a distinct linear trend above the stimulated intervals. Source mechanisms were only computed for high‐quality events detected on a sufficient number of receivers. All the detected source mechanisms were dip‐slip mechanisms with steep and nearly horizontal nodal planes. The source mechanisms represented shear events and the non‐double‐couple components were very small. Such small, non‐double‐couple components are consistent with a noise level in the data and velocity model uncertainties. Strikes of inverted mechanisms corresponding to the nearly vertical fault plane are (within the error of measurements) identical with the strike of the location trend. Ambient principal stress directions were inverted from the source mechanisms. The least principal stress, σ3, was determined perpendicular to the strike of the trend of the locations, indicating that the hydraulic fracture propagated in the direction of maximum horizontal stress. Our analysis indicated that the source mechanisms observed using downhole instruments are consistent with the source mechanisms observed in microseismic monitoring arrays in other locations. Furthermore, the orientation of the inverted principal components of the ambient stress field is in agreement with the orientation of the known regional stress, implying that microseismic events induced by hydraulic fracturing are controlled by the regional stress field.  相似文献

Rayleigh wave exploration is based on an elastic layered half-space model. If practical formations contain porous layers, these layers need to be simplified as an elastic medium. We studied the effects of this simplification on the results of Rayleigh wave exploration. Using a half-space model with coexisting porous and elastic layers, we derived the dispersion functions of Rayleigh waves in a porous layered half-space system with porous layers at different depths, and the problem of transferring variables to matrices of different orders is solved. To solve the significant digit overflow in the multiplication of transfer matrices, we propose a simple, effective method. Results suggest that dispersion curves differ in a lowfrequency region when a porous layer is at the surface; otherwise, the difference is small.  相似文献

Natural hydrofracturing caused by overpressure plays an important role in geopressure evolution and hydrocarbon migration in petroliferous basins. Its mechanism is quite well understood in the case of artificial hydraulic fracturing triggered by high-pressure fluid injection in a well. This is not so for natural hydraulic fracturing which is assumed to initiate as micro-cracks with large influence on the permeability of the medium. The mechanism of natural hydraulic cracking, triggered by increasing pore pressure during geological periods, is studied using a fracturing model coupled to the physical processes occurring during basin evolution. In this model, the hydraulic cracking threshold is assumed to lie between the classical failure limit and the beginning of dilatancy. Fluid pressure evolution is calculated iteratively in order to allow dynamic adjustment of permeability so that the fracturing limit is always preserved. The increase of permeability is interpreted on the basis of equivalent fractures. It is found that fracturing is very efficient to keep a stress level at the rock’s hydraulic cracking limit: a fracture permeability one order of magnitude larger than the intrinsic permeability of the rock would be enough. Observations reported from actual basins and model results strongly suggest that natural hydraulic cracking occurs continuously to keep the pressure at the fracturing limit under relaxed stress conditions.  相似文献

The spatial and temporal characteristics exhibited by earthquake ground motions at points below the soil surface have important implications for both deeply embedded structures and for spatially extended constructed facilities. In most cases, the characteristics of the seismic motion are known only at the surface, since it is there where most (but not all) of the historical earthquake records have been obtained. While downhole arrays can provide valuable additional information on motion statistics below the surface, it is both possible and desirable to supplement the available database with predictive computational models. With this goal in mind, this paper presents an analytical model to estimate the statistical properties of seismic motions at any point in the ground on the basis of the statistical properties obtained from records on the surface. The emphasis is on the particular cases of stationary SH-waves propagating in a multi-layered soil, and of stationary P-waves propagating in a half-space. The stochastic deconvolution model considered here is based on a formulation with matrices of spectral density functions. Together with the existing formulation based on cross-correlation matrices proposed earlier by Kausel and Pais (J. Engng Mech. Div., ASCE 113 (2) (1998) 266–277), this stochastic deconvolution technique will be referred to as the Complete Stochastic Deamplification Approach (CSDA). The results obtained show that the reduction in the intensity of shaking with embedment is more pronounced when SH-waves propagate in a stratified soil than when they propagate in a homogeneous half-space. Also, it is found that incident P-waves exhibit greater coherency than incident SH-waves, an indication that it is important to distinguish between such wave types when developing coherence models from array data.  相似文献

The displacements of the surface of the homogeneous elastic half-space subjected to a vertical concentrated load acting at the surface are calculated. The solution is shown to approach Lamb's simple formula for the far-field. The solution for the concentrated load can be used to calculate displacements due to distributed loads with high accuracy and economically. The results are applied to define the regions ‘near-field’ and ‘far-field’. Some near-field phenomena are described.  相似文献

利用弹性形变模型, 并以走滑型断层为例, 对地震同震形变场进行了模拟研究。 结合雷达成像几何关系, 得到干涉雷达的LOS向形变场以及干涉相位条纹图像。 对比分析了不同雷达波段(X波、 C波、 L波)以及不同雷达入射角(30°和50°)的同震形变场和干涉相位图。 结果表明, 同一雷达波段不同雷达入射角的LOS向形变场会有不同的效果, 入射角逐渐增大时, LOS向形变量随之增大, 体现了发震断层走滑特征; 采用不同雷达入射角, 其探测到的地表形变垂向分量和水平分量信息量不同, 表明入射角较大或较小时能够分别较好地对地表形变的水平变化和垂向变化进行监测; 同一雷达入射角, 不同雷达波段的干涉相位条纹有明显区别, 波长越短, 干涉条纹越密集, 容易出现去相关现象, 长波长的干涉相位条纹比较清晰。 从某种意义上讲, 尽管长波长的干涉相位反映地表形变信息的细节会减少, 但受噪声影响较小, 抗干扰性能较短波长的强, 干涉像对相干性高。 地表形变表现为长期缓慢的小幅度渐变性形态, 也表现为短期迅速的大面积突发性形态。 不同雷达波长探测到的地表形变有效信息不同, 为了更好地利用干涉雷达对各种尺度和不同变化速率的地表形变进行监测, 需要在满足精度的条件下尽可能地选择波长较长及多样化的雷达数据。  相似文献

水力压裂是页岩气开发过程中的核心增产技术,微地震则广泛用于压裂分析、水驱前缘监测和储层描述.微地震反演过程中,用于反演的速度模型往往基于测井、地震或标定炮资料构建,忽略了压裂过程中裂缝及孔隙流体压力变化对地层速度的影响.本文首先基于物质守恒、渗流理论和断裂力学模拟三维水力压裂过程,得到地下裂缝发育特征和孔隙压力分布.继而根据Coates-Schoenberg方法和裂缝柔量参数计算裂缝和孔隙压力对速度场的影响,得到压裂过程中的实时速度模型.最后利用三维射线追踪方法正演微地震走时和方位信息,并采用常规微地震定位方法反演震源位置及进行误差分析.数值模拟结果表明,检波器空间分布影响定位精度,常规方法的定位误差随射线路径在压裂带中传播距离增加而变大,且不同压裂阶段的多点反演法与单点极化法精度相当.  相似文献

One of the great classical problems in theoretical seismology is Garvin’s problem, which deals with the response of an elastic half-space subjected to a blast line source applied in its interior. However, Garvin (Exact transient solution of the buried line source problem. Proceedings of the Royal Society of London, Series A 1956;528–541[4]) himself provided only the solution for points on the free surface of the half-space. Although a rigorous extension to points in the interior of the half-space was given nearly decade-and-a-half later by Alterman and Loewenthal (Algebraic expressions for the impulsive motion of an elastic half-space. Israel Journal of Technology 1969; 7 (6):495–504[1]), these scientists published their paper in a technical journal of rather restricted circulation, as a result of which their complete solution remained largely unnoticed by the geophysical and soil dynamics communities. This article revisits Garvin’s generalized problem, presents a concise rendition and summary together with a very effective and accurate simplification, and examines the response characteristics for a pair of buried source-receiver location. It also includes a compact and very effective Matlab program for its evaluation.  相似文献

The correspondence principle is used to get the Laplace transformed solution of the problem of the quasi-static deformation of a viscoelastic half-space by a shear displacement dislocation from the corresponding static elastic results. The transformed solution is inverted for the Voigt and the Maxwell viscoelastic models. It is shown that, for a vertical dip-slip fault, the surface displacements for the viscoelastic case are identical with the elastic displacements. In the case of a vertical strike-slip fault, detailed numerical results are obtained for both a point source and a finite rectangular source. It is found that the results for the viscoelastic models differ significantly from the corresponding elastic results.  相似文献

— We developed a 3-D simulation model for long-term crustal deformation due to steady plate subduction in and around Japan by incorporating viscoelastic slip-response functions into a realistic 3-D plate interface model, constructed on the basis of the topography of ocean floors and hypocenter distributions of earthquakes. The lithosphere-asthenosphere system is modelled by an elastic surface layer overlying a Maxwellian viscoelastic half-space. Kinematic interaction at plate interfaces is rationally represented by the increase of tangential displacement discontinuity (fault slip) across the interfaces. With this model, giving the steady slip rates at plate interfaces calculated from NUVEL-1A, we simulated long-term crustal deformation due to steady plate subduction in and around Japan. The simulated crustal deformation pattern is characterized by steep uplift at island arcs, sharp subsidence at ocean trenches and gentle uplift at outer rises. The numerical results show the strong dependence of the deformation pattern on the 3-D geometry of plate interfaces.  相似文献

以基岩上单一土层场地为例, 计算分析了在斜入射平面SH波作用下弹性层状半空间中无限长洞室附近的地表位移. 研究表明, 层状半空间中地下洞室对波的散射与均匀半空间情况存在显著差别. 层状场地由于考虑了场地自身的动力特性, 使得洞室附近地表位移幅值的空间变化更为复杂, 基岩与土层刚度比、 土层厚度对散射效应均有着重要影响. 随着基岩与土层刚度比的增大, 地表位移幅值整体上逐渐增大; 随着土层厚度的增大, 土层对地表位移幅值的影响逐渐减小. 在频域解答的基础上, 给出了层状半空间中洞室对斜入射SH波散射的时域解答, 并以Ricker波为例进行了数值计算.   相似文献

用布希涅斯克定义的弹性半空间内的垂直位移包括两项积分,除了积分号前面系数的差别之外,第一项积分是单层位势而第二项积分为双层位势。若扁壳基础是正高斯曲率的几何曲面,则壳底与半空间表面间的挤压强度就是半空间表面作用的分布垂直荷载。当越过边界时,双层势位的函数值和单层势位的法向导数值发生跳跃。利用这些性质,本文得出布希涅斯克积分的反演公式,从而避开要求解偏微分—积分方程组的巨大数学困难而易于得出解析解。以椭园抛物面扁壳为例说明本文方法的应用。  相似文献

A five-parameter discrete model that approximates the dynamic force4isplacement relationship for rigid foundations undergoing vertical vibrations on a uniform elastic half-space is presented. The model involves a combination of two springs, two viscous dampers and a mass. Values of the parameters for circular, square and rectangular foundations placed on the surface or embedded in an elastic half-space are listed. The parameters are obtained by minimizing the discrepancy between the force4isplacement relation for the model and that obtained by solution of the mixed boundary-value problem of the rigid foundation on an elastic half-space. The definition of an appropriate input motion to represent wave excitation is also discussed. The input motion to the discrete model differs from the input motion that should be used in a continuum model.  相似文献

Monitoring of induced microseismic events has become an important tool in hydraulic fracture diagnostics and understanding fractured reservoirs in general. We compare microseismic event and their uncertainties using data sets obtained with surface and downhole arrays of receivers. We first model the uncertainties to understand the effect of different acquisition geometries on location accuracy. For a vertical array of receivers in a single monitoring borehole, we find that the largest part of the final location uncertainty is related to estimation of the backazimuth. This is followed by uncertainty in the vertical position and radial distance from the receivers. For surface monitoring, the largest uncertainty lies in the vertical position due to the use of only a single phase (usually P‐wave) in the estimation of the event location. In surface monitoring results, lateral positions are estimated robustly and are not sensitive to the velocity model. In this case study, we compare event location solutions from two catalogues of microseismic events; one from a downhole array and the second from a surface array of 1C geophone. Our results show that origin time can be reliably used to find matching events between the downhole and surface catalogues. The locations of the corresponding events display a systematic shift consistent with a poorly calibrated velocity model for downhole dataset. For this case study, locations derived from surface monitoring have less scatter in both vertical and horizontal directions.  相似文献
