The effectiveness of various formulations of the Lorentzian procedure for estimating Schumann resonance (SR) characteristics of the Earth-ionosphere waveguide from transient electromagnetic signals is tested in the limits of a simplified, spherically uniform model of the resonator. It is shown that the major improvement, in comparison with the “classic” Lorentzian formulation, is achieved by consideration of the intra-modal phase interference. The effect of the “limited frequency dispersion” inherent in the “classic” Lorentzian approach – that is of substantial importance at the lowest SR modes – can be effectively neutralized by interpolating the values for the propagation parameter between the adjacent modal frequencies. Several practical aspects of applying the Lorentzian procedure to transient signals are also discussed.  相似文献

The numerical simulation of typhoons has been found to be very sensitive to the vertical resolution of the model. During the updating of the TRAMS model from version 1.0 to 3.0, the horizontal resolution has been increased from 36 km to 9 km, while the vertical layer number only increased from 55 to 65 layers. The lack of high vertical resolution limits the performance of the TRAMS model in typhoon forecasting to a certain extent. In order to study the potential improvement of typhoon forecasting by increasing the vertical resolution, this paper increases the vertical resolution of the TRAMS model from 65 to 125 layers for the first time for a comparative simulation test. The results of the case study with Typhoon Hato (2017) show that the model with high vertical resolution can significantly enhance the warm structure caused by water vapor flux convergence and vertical transport, thus accurately simulating the rapid strengthening process of the typhoon. Meanwhile, the model with 125-layer vertical resolution can simulate the asymmetric structural characteristics of the wind field, which are closer to the observations and can help to reduce the bias in typhoon track forecasting. The improvement of vertical resolution is also trialed by using the batch test results of several landfalling typhoons in 2016-2017. The experimental results show that the typhoon forecast of the model becomes consistent with the observations only when the number of vertical layers of the model increases to about 125 layers, which in turn causes a large computational burden. In the next step, we will try to solve the computational burden problem caused by ultra-high vertical resolution with the top boundary nesting technique, and realize the application of high vertical resolution in the actual operation of the TRAMS model.  相似文献

The major purpose of this study was to develop a predictive model of the yearly frequency of typhoon.Based on historical data, a predictive model of yearly frequency of typhoon that landed in South China was proposed during the season of typhoon using the basic thinking and its algorithm of Pro.jcction Pursuit Regression (PPR). 就2009年8月台风"天鹅"对"莫拉克"台风暴雨增幅的影响问题进行客观分析,并通过WRF数值模拟试验的方式进行研究探讨.利用NCEP/NCAR客观再分析资料分析发现"莫拉克"台风从"天鹅"台风环流中获取正涡度和水汽供应,有利于其台风强度的长期维持,是造成台湾地区超强降水的重要条件之一.进一步运用WRF数值模式对剔除"天鹅"台风的敏感性试验进行诊断分析,发现"天鹅"台风向"莫拉克"台风环流中有正涡度及水汽供应,与客观分析较为一致,最终估算出"莫拉克"台风在台湾地区南部造成的超强降水中有近三成来自于"天鹅"台风的动力和水汽贡献.  相似文献

Growth in subsonic air traffic over the past 20 years has been dramatic, with an annual increase of }6.1% over the decade between 1978 and 1988. Furthermore, aircraft activities in the year 2000 are predicted to be double those of 1990, with a shift towards more high-flying, longhaul subsonics. Aircraft exhaust gases increase the amount of nitrogen oxides (NO x ) in the upper troposphere/lower stratosphere through injection at cruise altitudes. Given that NO x is instrumental in tropospheric ozone production and stratospheric ozone destruction, it is important to determine the influence of subsonic aircraft NO x emissions on levels of atmospheric ozone. This paper describes calculations designed to investigate the impact that subsonic aircraft may already have had on the atmosphere during the 1980s, run in a 2-D chemical-radiative-transport model. The results indicate a significant increase in upper tropospheric ozone over the decade arising from aircraft emissions. However, when comparing model results with observational data, certain discrepancies appear. Lower stratospheric ozone loss over the 1980s does not appear to be greatly altered by the inclusion of aircraft emissions in the model. However, given the trend in greater numbers of long-haul subsonic aircraft, this factor must be considered in any further calculations.  相似文献

The accurate radiative transfer model GOMETRAN, initially designed to yield radiances at TOA in the wavelength range 240–790 nm, has been extended to allow for the computation of actinic fluxes down to 175 nm and for the calculation of photolysis frequencies in the atmosphere. The capability of the extended model PHOTOGT (PHOTOGOMETRAN) is demonstrated in a number of successful comparison studies both with recent experiments (ground-based, balloonborne, airborne) and model calculations of radiances, actinic fluxes and photolysis frequencies in the stratosphere and troposphere. In an atmospheric case study, the impact of new quantum yield data for the O3 » O2+O(1 d) photodissociation channel on the photolytic production of O(1 d) atoms in the lower atmosphere has been quantified.  相似文献

Two semi-asymmetric flow patterns of typhoons are chosen to qualitatively determine the effect of exchange of horizontal momentum between inflow and outflow layers and the environment on the motion of typhoons. The results show that only the asymmetric flow component (residual after azimuthal mean flow has been removed) could cause a net momentum input into or output from a typhoon and therefore contribute to the changes in speed and direction of the typhoon movement. A typhoon with major inflow and/or outflow channels on its right (left) side would tend to accelerate and turn left (decelerate and turn right); On the other hand, a typhoon with major inflow and/or outflow channels in the rear (front) semicircle would tend to accelerate and turn right (decelerate and turn left).  相似文献

基于自动站观测和ECMWF再分析资料,针对中国气象局上海台风研究所区域高分辨率台风模式(Shanghai Tropical Cyclone High Resolution Analysis and Prediction System,STI-THRAPS)和业务常用的4个数值模式,即欧洲中期天气预报中心(European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasts,EC)全球模式,美国全球预报系统(The Global Forecast System,GFS),日本气象厅(Japan Meteorological Agency,JMA)全球模式和我国T639(T639L60)全球模式,对1323号台风"菲特"登陆过程的预报性能进行了综合检验评估。结果显示:对暴雨以上的强降水预报STI-THRAPS有明显优势。仅有该模式对超过500 mm的极端降水做出预报,且各项评分均好于全球模式,漏报率也明显优于其他模式。对暴雨以下的降水预报各个模式差距不大。美国GFS和STI-THRAPS较好地预报了大风区,STI-THRAPS预报的风场与实况的空间相关程度最高。从漏报率上来看,STI-THRAPS模式的风场预报具有明显优势。虽然预报最大风速偏大,但是STI-THRAPS在24 h后的路径预报有较大优势。  相似文献

本文提出一种中心抽头差分电感模型,可以有效地替代电磁仿真文件进行电路的仿真,并不影响电路仿真结果.将提出的中心抽头差分电感模型应用于振荡器电路,并对模型结果与测试结果进行比较,验证电感模型的有效性.测试结果表明,模型可以在一定程度上取代S参数,并能与测试结果保持一致.  相似文献

2005年第5号台风"海棠"登陆福建省前后所引发的降水呈明显的南北非对称分布特征。逐时MT1R静止气象卫星IR1云图分析揭示,陆地上台风环流云系呈南北非对称分布。浓白色的降水云区主要位于台风北侧,而在此期间,台风南侧云系则相对较暗。在WRF模式成功模拟的基础上,分析模拟的700 hPa高度上相对湿度和垂直上升运动场表明,垂直上升运动场呈现出与降水场相似的南北非对称分布特征,而台风南北两侧空气相对湿度呈均匀分布。进一步改进的湿Q矢量(Q*)以及地形抬升和地表摩擦作用(简称地形因子)分析表明,Q*矢量散度辐合区、地形因子强迫产生的垂直上升速度区都呈南北非对称分布特征。综合考虑指出,"海棠"台风降水分布的南北非对称性,主要由动力因子(Q*矢量(相当于上升运动)、地形抬升与地表摩擦以及垂直上升运动场)引起的,而热力条件(包括相对湿度)是不重要的。  相似文献

An analytical model that predicts how much of the temperature–humidity covariance within the marine atmospheric surface layer (ASL) originates just above the ASL and just near the surface is proposed and tested using observations from the Risø Air Sea Experiment (RASEX). The model is based on a simplified budget for the two-scalar covariance that retains three basic terms: production, dissipation, and vertical transport. Standard second-order closure formulations are employed for the triple moments and the dissipation terms, and the canonical mixing length for the closure model is assumed linear with height (z) from the surface. Despite the poor performance of the gradient–diffusion closure in reproducing the measured triple moment, the overall covariance model was shown to be sufficiently robust to these assumptions. One of the main findings from the analytical treatment is the origin of the asymmetry in how the top and bottom boundary conditions affect the two-scalar covariance in the ASL. The analytical model reveals that ‘bottom-up’ boundary-condition variations scale with \(z^{-\sqrt{a}}\) , while ‘top-down’ variations scale with \(z^{\sqrt{a}}\) , where a is a constant that can be derived from similarity and closure constants. The genesis of this asymmetry stems from the flux-transport term but is modulated by the dissipation, and persists even in the absence of any inhomogeneity in the local production function. It is shown that the local production function acts to adjust the relative proportions of these two boundary conditions with weights that vary with the Obukhov length. The findings here do not provide ‘finality’ to the discussions on the covariance between humidity and temperature or the role of entrainment in modulating the turbulence within the ASL. Rather, they are intended to guide new hypotheses about interpretations of existing field data and identify needs for future field and numerical experiments.  相似文献

Forecasting the rapid intensification of tropical cyclones over offshore areas remains difficult. In this article, the Weather Research and Forecast (WRF) model was used to study the rapid intensification of Typhoon Haikui (1211) off the shore of China. After successful simulation of the intensity change and track of the typhoon, the model output was further analyzed to determine the mechanism of the rapid change in intensity. The results indicated that a remarkable increase in low-level moisture transportation toward the inner core, favorable large-scale background field with low-level convergence, and high-level divergence played key roles in the rapid intensification of Typhoon Haikui in which high-level divergence could be used as an indicator for the rapid intensity change of Typhoon Haikui approximately 6 h in advance. An analysis of the typhoon structure revealed that Typhoon Haikui was structurally symmetric during the rapid intensification and the range of the eyewall was small in the low level but extended outward in the high level. In addition, the vertically ascending motion, the radial and tangential along wind speeds increased with increasing typhoon intensity, especially during the process of rapid intensification. Furthermore, the intensity of the warm core of the typhoon increased during the intensification process with the warm core extending outward and toward the lower layer. All of the above structural changes contributed to the maintenance and development of typhoon intensity.  相似文献

The present work evaluates the stress effects in two epiphytic lichen species with different thallus morphology, the foliose Parmelia caperata and the fruticose Evernia prunastri, as resulting from transplanting from an unpolluted to an air-polluted area. Lichen samples were collected in Portugal in a clean area, during the spring 2003, and transplanted (1) to the same zone nearby and (2) to a polluted area as affected by an industrial complex. Transplant samples were taken periodically during four months in both places. At the same time lichen samples from the clean-air site native (in-situ) populations were also collected. For each sample were measured the chlorophyll content, the chlorophyll degradation and the cell membrane damage, the latter represented by leacheate conductivity. During the experiment the meteorological conditions were registered. The results indicate the absence of stress effects of transplanting as such, and suggest that leachate conductivity may be the more sensitive indicator of general lichen vitality.  相似文献

根据热力学第二定律推导出熵平衡方程,并在数值模拟输出结果的基础上利用熵平衡方程中的熵流项来分析2005年台风"麦莎"发生、发展和消亡各阶段的熵流特征.(1) 从对流层的低层到对流层的高层,台风中心附近的熵流分布会逐渐由负熵流占优势互补趋向于以正熵流为主;(2) 对流层中层500 hPa的负熵流分布显示出,随着台风的强度加强(减弱),台风中心附近的负熵流强度也会随之加强(减弱);(3) 台风中心附近的负熵流分布和强度特征对于台风强度和未来移动路径有一定的指示意义.  相似文献

The intracloud to cloud-to-ground lightning flash ratio (Z) has been estimated for the first time in Southeastern Brazil and in the tropical region using the Lightning Imaging Sensor (LIS) and Brazilian lightning detection network (BrasilDat) lightning data obtained from 1999 to 2005. Geographical variations of Z and their relation to elevation, latitude, precipitation, total lightning density and percentage of positive CG lightning will be discussed. Daily variations of Z will also be presented. The results suggest that Z values are similar to studies outside the tropics and that are influenced by orographic features.  相似文献

A one-dimensional atmospheric boundary-layer model is developed using the finite element method and a 1.5-order e-l turbulence closure scheme. A vertical adaptive strategy is implemented, based upon an heuristic error estimator that depends upon properties of the layer, such as the stratification. The model is used to simulate a moderately stratified stable boundary layer as described in the GABLS (GEWEX Atmospheric Boundary-Layer Study, where GEWEX is the Global Water and Energy Cycle Experiment) First Intercomparison Project, and then a more complicated diurnal cycle, as used in the GABLS Second Intercomparison Project. In the stable boundary-layer experiment, it is shown that including the adaptive strategy can improve the performance of the model such that the error in the model is significantly less (greater than an order of magnitude with an effective resolution of 8 m) than that of the model without adaptivity. The model’s turbulence closure scheme and the adaptivity strategy also successfully simulate the different stability regimes present in the diurnal cycle simulation, and represented all of the expected features.  相似文献

A study of the neutrally-stratified flow within and over an array of three-dimensional buildings (cubes) was undertaken using simple Reynolds-averaged Navier—Stokes (RANS) flow models. These models consist of a general solution of the ensemble-averaged, steady-state, three-dimensional Navier—Stokes equations, where the k-ε turbulence model (k is turbulence kinetic energy and ε is viscous dissipation rate) has been used to close the system of equations. Two turbulence closure models were tested, namely, the standard and Kato—Launder k-ε models. The latter model is a modified k-ε model designed specifically to overcome the stagnation point anomaly in flows past a bluff body where the standard k-ε model overpredicts the production of turbulence kinetic energy near the stagnation point. Results of a detailed comparison between a wind-tunnel experiment and the RANS flow model predictions are presented. More specifically, vertical profiles of the predicted mean streamwise velocity, mean vertical velocity, and turbulence kinetic energy at a number of streamwise locations that extend from the impingement zone upstream of the array, through the array interior, to the exit region downstream of the array are presented and compared to those measured in the wind-tunnel experiment. Generally, the numerical predictions show good agreement for the mean flow velocities. The turbulence kinetic energy was underestimated by the two different closure models. After validation, the results of the high-resolution RANS flow model predictions were used to diagnose the dispersive stress, within and above the building array. The importance of dispersive stresses, which arise from point-to-point variations in the mean flow field, relative to the spatially-averaged Reynolds stresses are assessed for the building array.  相似文献

针对海洋区域尤其远海缺乏探空资料,且常用的Bevis经验模型在海区存在模型系统误差的问题,研究基于ERA-Interim再分析资料构建海洋区域E-T_m回归模型。利用不同时间的ERA-Interim数据及近海探空资料,对E-T_m回归模型的拟合效果及预报能力进行检验,并与常规T_m获取方法进行比较,结果表明,E-T_m回归模型拟合效果较好,相比Bevis经验模型,其预报稳定性及精度更高;在典型海区与基于探空资料建立的本地化模型进行了预报精度的比较,结果表明,2. 5°×2. 5°分辨率的E-T_m模型与探空资料建立的本地化模型精度相当,可以在无法建立探空站的海域进行使用,仅存在1%的平均转换误差。  相似文献
