In a barotropic atmosphere,new Reynolds mean momentum equations including turbulent viscosity,dispersion,and instability are used not only to derive the KdV-Burgers-Kuramoto equation but also to analyze the physical mechanism of the cascades of energy and enstrophy.It shows that it is the effects of dispersion and instability that result in the inverse cascade.Then based on the conservation laws of the energy and enstrophy,a cascade model is put forward and the processes of the cascades are described.  相似文献

利用涡度拟能、散度平方项(简记为散度能量)和总变形平方项(简记为变形能量)来表征涡度、散度和变形的强度,并推导这3个物理量的倾向方程。这些方程中既包含代表这些物理量相互转化的符号相反项,也含有代表共同强迫的符号相同项,其中,涡度拟能局地变化主要由涡度拟能与变形能量的共同强迫项、涡度拟能与变形能量的转化项以及涡度拟能与散度能量的转化项组成。针对2009年第8号台风莫拉克,利用美国全球预报系统分析场资料计算这些方程中的强迫项,分析涡度拟能及其收支特征,以此来探讨影响台风莫拉克涡度拟能局地变化的主要物理因素。结果表明,在莫拉克发展和衰减阶段,涡度拟能与变形能量的共同强迫项(涡-形相同项)和涡度拟能与散度能量的转化项(涡-散转化项)是影响涡度拟能局地变化的重要强迫项。涡度拟能与变形能量转化项(涡-形转化项)的贡献相对来说弱一些。影响位涡拟能局地变化的重要物理因素是涡-形相同项和涡-形转化项中的平流输送项和散度耦合项,以及涡-散转化项中散度耦合项。变形能量一方面通过涡-形转化项向涡度拟能转化,直接促进涡度拟能增长;另一方面通过散-形转化项向散度能量转化,再通过涡-散转化项散度能量向涡度拟能转化,间接促进涡度拟能增长。  相似文献

文中利用WKB近似,讨论了非均匀层结对惯性重力内波和纯重力内波能量传播路径的影响,得到了波的能量密度,广义波作用密度,和广义拟能密度守恒的条件,导得了重力内波不稳定的必要条件,给出了在波的传播过程中控制波射线折射的方程,得到了两类不同的临界层,最后还利用四阶Runge-Kutta方法计算了不同层结分布下的波射线。  相似文献

本文利用能量变化的观点,分析了正压波动发展的机制。结果表明,大地形的作用只能影响涡度拟能的变化,而不能直接影响动能。但基本气流的特征,对于动能与涡度拟能都起一定的作用。如果基本气流是均匀的而且地形的影响可略,则平均动能和涡度拟能都是守恒的,也就是说,这些量都是有界的。但是在切变气流或者波状基本气流中,波动的发展与基本气流的特征以及波动本身的结构具有非常密切的关系。在一般情况下,动能与涡度拟能就不再是守恒的。在本文中,还对某些简单地形作了分析与讨论。  相似文献

In this note, equations for enstrophy and enstrophy advection are derived in terms of well-known quantities, assuming horizontal frictionless flow on a beta-plane. Specifically, enstrophy can be written in terms of the geopotential (or pressure), relative vorticity, zonal wind, and resultant deformation. Enstrophy advection is shown to be related to the time evolution of deformation and ageostrophic relative vorticity. Based on previous research, these terms may contribute to instability associated with atmospheric blocking development and decay.  相似文献

In this paper a set of new Reynolds averaged equations which contain both the dissipation and dispersion effects are derived by using Prandtl's mixing length theory. The dispersion effects. (b) The dispersion effects alone could result in the inverse energy cascade dispersion effects. (b) The dispersion effects alone could result in the inverse energy cascade which represents the eddies giving up kinetic energy to the mean flow in large-scale motion. The dispersion effects are also necessary for the eddies to gain kinetic energy from available potential energy. The necessary and sufficient conditions of an inverse energy cascade are given. (c) The dispersion effects are used to analyse atmospheric balance motions of the planetary boundary layer and produce a more satisfactory Ekman spiral fit to the observed wind hodograph.  相似文献

In this paper the influences of nonuniform stratification on the propagating paths of internal inertial-gravity and pure gravity wave energy are discussed by using the WKB approximation method.The conditions for conservation of wave energy,generalized wave action and wave enstrophy are obtained.The necessary condition of instability for internal gravity waves and the equation governing the refraction of wave rays are derived.Two types of critical levels are given.Finally,the wave rays for different distributions of stratification are calculated by using the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method.  相似文献

本工作遵循保真计算原理与方法,对正压原始方程气象传统全球(拟)谱模式方案进行改造,构造了正压原始方程拟能完全守恒(拟)谱模式新型保真计算方案,解决了正压原始方程的(非线性)计算稳定性问题和拟能守恒整体性质保持问题,改进了相应正压原始方程气象传统全球(拟)谱模式方案的计算效能。新型保真方案的数值实验表明,计算实践中,新方案在解决拟能守恒问题的同时,可解决(非线性)计算稳定问题,并在一定条件下可解决非线性计算收敛性问题。进一步的比较数值实验还表明,计算实践中,新型保真计算方案在提高相应气象传统方案的计算精度、  相似文献

Summary Rotational energy spectra are examined in experiments with two energy and enstrophy conserving schemes defined on the semi-staggered grid. One of the schemes conserved enstrophy as defined on an equivalent staggered grid, and the other conserved enstrophy as defined on the semi-staggered grid.As predicted by the theory (Janji, 1984), the rotational energy corresponding to the scheme conserving enstrophy as defined on an equivalent staggered grid decreases faster with increasing intensity of the wave number vector than that of the scheme conserving enstrophy as defined on the semistaggered grid. Moreover, the spectrum obtained with the scheme conserving the equivalent staggered grid enstrophy resembles the observed atmospheric spectra in a large part of the admissible wave number range.With 2 Figures  相似文献

应用正、斜压涡度拟能方程,对1998年6月3~11日发生在鄂霍次克海的一次阻塞环流进行诊断。结果表明:阻塞区内总涡度拟能和正压涡度拟能具有显著的变化,它清楚地揭示了阻塞过程中酝酿、维持和崩溃阶段中的不同特征,而正、斜压动能所显示的阻塞过程的变化特征则不明显。正、斜压涡度拟能场相互转换及阻塞区内外正、斜压涡度拟能场的净通量机制是鄂霍次克海阻塞环流建立和维持的两项主要因子。其过程是:首先通过斜压涡度拟能净通量机制,使斜压涡度拟能增长;又通过正斜压涡度拟能场的转换机制将增长的斜压涡度拟能转为正压涡度拟能;与此同时,通过正压涡度拟能净通量机制使正压涡度拟能增长。这两种不同的机制相互结合,从而使正压涡度拟能增长和维持,形成阻塞环流。而斜压涡度拟能增长甚微。  相似文献

We discuss the nonlinear transfers possible in a quasigeostrophic fluid with a basic stratification taken from oceanic data. The energy and enstrophy conservation laws imply a cascade of energy to larger total scale (including both the horizontal scale, defined as wavelength/2π, and the deformation radius of the vertical mode). The triplet interactions among components with various horizontal scales and vertical structures, represented by the vertical mode numbers, are considered in detail for exchanges involving the barotropic and first three baroclinic modes. The initial transfer rates from one component into the other two are estimated and the most rapid transfers described as a function of the initial scale and mode number. These results suggest that barotropic motions will cascade to larger-scale barotropic motions, first baroclinic small-scale motions will transfer to first baroclinic larger scales, and first baroclinic large-scale motions will cascade to barotropic and first baroclinic motions at the deformation scale. Second and third mode motions prefer to transfer energy into small-scale (second or third mode deformation radius) first and third baroclinic mode motions.We also show the relationship of these triplet interactions to Rossby wave instabilities and resonant triads. For the latter motions, the weakness of the nonlinearity adds additional constraints which impty that the motions will tend to become zonal.  相似文献

A theory is presented both for spectral energy transfer and for the transfer of spectral components of pseudo-potential enstrophy in a homogeneous quasi-geostrophic turbulent field which is rendered anisotropic by the distortion caused by a random collection of vortices superimposed on the principal motions. The fluid is, thus, subjected to an almost irrotational distortion. The random vortices cause straining effects on turbulent velocity and temperature fluctuations and modify the energy spectrum in the spectral ranges of interest. The strain imposed by the distortion is assumed to be homogeneous. For three-dimensional quasi-geostrophic turbulence that conserves pseudo-potential enstrophy as well as energy, this theory predicts –8/3 and –4 power inertial-range energy spectra.The predictions favourably corroborate the observed spectrum of energy in the atmosphere in the region of hemispheric wave-numbers 10–16 with a –8/3 slope and at higher wave-numbers with –4 slope on a log-log energy-wave-number diagram. The transfer rates of pseudo-potential enstrophy in the range 10n16 and of energy in the rangen>16 are identically zero, while the transfer of energy in the first range is from higher to lower wave-numbers and that of the pseudo-potential enstrophy in the second range is from lower to higher wave-numbers.As compared with the earlier two-dimensional turbulence theory of Kraichnan and the quasigeostrophic turbulence theory of Charney, the present theory predicts more realistic shapes of the energy spectra of atmospheric motions at scales shorter than the baroclinic excitation scales.  相似文献

It is increasingly recognized that uncertainty concerns more than statistical errors and incomplete information. Uncertainty becomes particularly important in decision-making when it influences the ability of the decision-makers to understand or solve a problem. While the literature on uncertainty and the way in which uncertainty in decision-making is conceptualized continue to evolve, the many uncertainties encountered in policy development and projects are still mostly represented as individual and separated issues. In this paper, we explore the relationship between fundamentally different uncertainties – which could be classified as unpredictability, incomplete knowledge or ambiguity – and show that uncertainties are not isolated. Based on two case studies of ecological engineering flood defence projects, we demonstrate that important ambiguities are directly related to unpredictability and incomplete knowledge in cascades of interrelated uncertainties. We argue that conceptualizing uncertainties as cascades provides new opportunities for coping with uncertainty. As the uncertainties throughout the cascade are interrelated, this suggests that coping with a particular uncertainty in the cascade will influence others related to it. Each uncertainty in a cascade is a potential node of intervention or facilitation. Thus, if a particular coping strategy fails or system conditions change, the cascades point at new directions for coping with the uncertainties encountered. Furthermore, the cascades can function as an instrument to bridge the gap between actors from science and policy, as it explicitly shows that uncertainties held relevant in different arenas are actually directly related.  相似文献

研究表明,正压涡度拟能的增强和减弱是乌拉尔山上空阻塞过程的重要特征,正压涡度拟能增强的主要机制是斜压涡度拟能向正压涡度拟能的转换,而斜压涡度拟能的来源则是阻塞区外斜压涡度拟能向阻塞区的净输送和阻塞区内斜压涡度拟能的净生成。正压涡度拟能减弱的主要机制足耗散机制和β效应。因此。阻塞过程是正、斜压涡度拟能相互作用的结果。纬向斜压风对斜压涡度的输送在阻塞的维持和崩溃中具有重要的作用,经向斜压风对斜压涡度的输送在阻塞环流的建立中具有重要的作用,经向正压风对正压涡度拟能的净输送和斜压风对涡度拟能的净输送也具有重要贡献。  相似文献

考察了一般多层准地转模式中初值与参数共同扰动的情形。在初始扰动场仅依赖于初始扰动位势涡度、初始扰动边界速度环量与扰动参数的条件下,给出了扰动能量、扰动位涡拟能发展上(下)界精细的显式估计。进而在Lyapunov意义下广义非线性稳定性概念的基础上,得到了对应于Arnold 第二定理的非线性稳定性判据。本文工作推广了仅考虑模式中初值扰动情形所得到的相应结果。  相似文献

Structures of adjoint sensitivities to potential vorticity for specific initial and final norm are investigated for a short-range cyclone forecast in a three-dimensional quasigeostrophic (QG) model. Moreover, adjoint sensitivities to potential vorticity are compared with nonlinear sensitivities calculated for the same cyclogenesis case in the QG model. The adjoint sensitivities using different initial and final norms (e.g., total QG disturbance energy and potential enstrophy) show approximately similar characteristics for the horizontal and vertical structures and evolutions. Consistent with previous studies, the horizontal structure of the adjoint sensitivity is smaller for the energy norm than for the potential enstrophy norm. The dynamical mechanism of cyclone development by adjoint sensitivity coincides with that of nonlinear sensitivity, with slight differences in the region of sensitivity maxima over the upstream (nascent) low for the adjoint (nonlinear) sensitivity. The adjoint sensitivities show different vertical distributions from the nonlinear sensitivities. Consistent with the sensitive regions denoted by singular vectors and error evolution in the QG model, maxima of the adjoint sensitivities are located at both the upper and lower boundaries, with prominent secondary peaks in the lower to mid-troposphere of the domain. The level of the secondary maxima changes depending on the initial and final norm used. The secondary peak is located in the lower to mid- (mid-) troposphere for the total QG disturbance energy (potential enstrophy) as the initial and final norm. Based on the correspondence in the level of the sensitivity maxima in the interior of the domain between the adjoint and nonlinear sensitivities, adjoint sensitivities may serve as an alternative to nonlinear sensitivities given the enormous computing expenses in nonlinear sensitivity calculation.  相似文献

推导得到普遍形式的位涡度守恒方程,其条件是外源G和摩擦F组成的矢量散度为零,放松了位涡守恒的绝热无摩擦限制,对准地转位涡方程,利用WKB近似,得到了层结可变情况下的ROssby波的能量、波作用和拟能守恒的条件,对于空间缓变的基本气流,它们分别是基本气流与空间坐标无关,基本气流与x无关和基本气流是空间坐标的函数。最后还给出了地形存在情况下的Rocsby波的能量、波作用和拟能守恒的条件。  相似文献
