In the Russian climate, the security of populations and economic security are often limited by dangerous ice phenomena. Not only ice-jam floods, but also some processes lead to the violation of operating conditions of various facilities (water intakes, roads, bridges) and damage hydraulic structures and shipping. Currently, rivers’ ice regime characteristics change under the influence of both natural (primarily climatic) and anthropogenic factors. Changes have been analyzed in detail on the basis of observations of 300 hydrological stations in the period from 1936 to 2013. Changes of ice phenomena hazards have been estimated. Hazard assessment of flooding caused by ice jams has been carried out for the Northern Dvina River reach from the Velikiy Ustyug City to Kotlas, the most problematic ice jam flooding area in European Russia. The modeling was performed on the basis of STREAM_2D software complex for current conditions and taking into account the possible construction of various protective structures. Methods for the prevention of negative impact of water at the site are examined.

Natural observations were analyzed to study the distribution of dissolved species of major and trace elements in the Onega and Mezen’ mouth areas and the tendencies in the chemical transformations of the is continental runoff in the river mouths of the White Sea drainage system. It is shown that the migration of major ions and dissolved species of Li, Rb, Cs, Sr, B, F and Mo is consistent with a conservative behavior and is controlled by hydrodynamic processes. The amounts of uranium and barium additionally supplying in the Mezen’ mouth exceed those removed with a continental runoff, whereas the Onega, Severnaya Dvina, and other rivers of the White Sea drainage system are characterized by the conservative behavior of uranium, while barium desorption from particulate matter reaches no more than 33% of its content in the riverine waters. The growth of concentrations of these elements in the Mezen’ mouth is caused by the long-term interaction of solid matters of the continental runoff with saline waters in the tide-affected estuary. 28–59, 12–63, 25–67 and 20–63% of concentrations of iron, aluminum, lanthanum, and cerium are removed from the riverine waters in the mouth areas of all studied rivers of the White Sea drainage system mainly owing to the coagulation and flocculation of organic and organomineral colloids. The distribution of dissolved species of mineral phosphorus and silicon in the Mezen’ mouth is presumably controlled by the remineralization of the organic matter in the bottom sediments, which due to the hydrological features of estuary are regularly stirred up and interact with vertically mixing water sequence. Up to 20–46% of dissolved phosphates and 3–22% of silicon are removed from the continental runoff during vegetation period in the mouths of the Onega, Severnaya Dvina, and other rivers of the White Sea drainage system mainly owing to their biological consumption.  相似文献

冰凌洪水(冰洪)是新疆天山北坡中段河流冬季的一种特殊洪水,其暴发主要受气温、逆温带范围、冬季河流来水量、冰情冰厚、地势.河道弯曲率和河床条件等多种因素影响."冰洪"具有随机性、规律性和不重复性三种特性,冰凌洪水的峰型类似于暴雨洪水具有陡涨陡落的特点,峰前陡峭而落峰则相对缓一些.以四棵树河为典型流域,对冰凌洪水的成因、发展和运动规律进行研究,并发现冰凌洪水具有"水鼓冰开"现象.对四棵树河1967-2006年冰洪流量的年内、年际分布情况看,20世纪70-80年代由于冬季气候寒冷,是"冰洪"发生最多的时期;自进入20世纪90年代以来由于受全球气候变暖等因素影响,冰凌洪水呈现衰退趋势,气候变暖对冰洪影响非常大.  相似文献

Ice jams can sometimes occur in high latitude rivers during winter and the resulting water level rise may generate costly and dangerous flooding such as the recent ice jam flooding in the Nechako River in downtown Prince George in Canada. Thus, the forecast of water level and ice jam thickness is of great importance. This study compares three methods to simulate and forecast water level and ice jam thickness based on field observations of river ice jams in the Quyu Reach of the Yellow River in China. More specifically, simulation results generated by the traditional multi-variant regressional method are compared to those of the back propagation neural network and the support vector machine methods. The forecast of ice jam thickness and water level under ice jammed condition have been conducted in two different approaches, 1) simulation of water level and ice jam thickness in the second half of the period of measurement using models developed based on data gained during the first half of the period of measurement, 2) simulation of water level and ice jam thickness at the downstream cross sections using models developed based on data gained at the upstream cross sections. For this reason, as the results of simulation and field observations indicated, the back propagation neural network method and the support vector machine method are superior in terms of accuracy to the multi-variant regressional method.  相似文献

高纬度地区河流冬季常形成冰塞,冰塞堵塞过流断面,使湿周增加,致上游水位升高,常因此产生凌洪灾害,冰塞的解体、溃决又常使下游产生灾害。冰期水位是冰塞演变和发展的重要结果之一,对于防灾减灾具有重要的参考价值。依据实验室资料和黄河河曲段的实测资料,针对直道和弯槽,对比分析了不同冰流量、不同初始水深和流速时模拟冰塞和天然河道冰期水位的变化规律。  相似文献

Hydrological extreme events pose an imminent risk to society and economics. In this paper, various aspects of hydrological hazards in Russia are analysed at different scales of risk assessment. It is shown that the number of hydrological and meteorological hazards in Russia has been growing every year. The frequency of economic losses associated with extreme low flow in this century has increased by factor five compared to the last decade of the previous century. With regard to floods, an interesting spatial patter can be observed. On the one hand, the number of floods in the Asian part of the country has increased, whereas on the other hand, the number and intensity of floods in estuarine areas in the European part of Russia have significantly reduced since the middle of the twentieth century, especially in the 2000s. This decrease can be attributed to runoff flooding in the mouths of regulated rivers, with an effective system of flood and ice jam protection. The analysis shows that there is an 8–12-year periodicity in the number of flood occurrences and that flood surges have intensified over the last 110 years, especially on the European territory of Russia. An integrated index that accounts for flood hazards and socio-economic vulnerability was calculated for each region of Russia. A classification of flood risk was also developed, taking into account more than 20 hydrological and social–economic characteristics. Based on these characteristics, hazard and vulnerability maps for entire Russia were generated which can be used for water management and the development of future water resources plans.

A considerable portion of Northern Eurasia, and particularly its continental shelf, was glaciated by inland ice during late Weichsel time. This was first inferred from such evidence as glacial striae, submarine troughs, sea-bed diamictons, boulder trains on adjacent land, and patterns of glacioisostatic crustal movements. Subsequently, the inference was confirmed by data on the occurrence and geographic position of late Weichselian end moraines and proglacial lacustrine deposits.The south-facing outer moraines in the northeastern Russian Plain, northern West Siberia, and on Taimyr Peninsula are underlain by sediments containing wood and peat, the radiocarbon dating of which yielded ages of 22,000 to 45,000 yr B.P. The youngest late-glacial moraines are of Holocene age: the double Markhida moraine in the lower Pechora River basin, presumably associated with “degradational” surges of the Barents Ice Dome, is underlain by sediments with wood and peat dated at 9000 to 9900 yr B.P.: this suggests that deglaciation of the Arctic continental shelf of Eurasia was not completed until after 9000 yr B.P.The reconstructed ice-front lines lead to the conclusion that the late Weichselian ice sheet of Northern Eurasia (proposed name: the Eurasian Ice Sheet) extended without interruptions from southwestern Ireland to the northeastern end of Taimyr Peninsula, a distance of 6000 km: it covered an area of 8,370,000 km2, half of which lay on the present-day continental shelves and a quarter on lowlands that were depressed isostatically below sea level. Hence, the ice sheet was predominantly marine-based.A contour map of the ice sheet based both on the dependence of the heights of ice domes upon their radii and on factual data concerning the impact of bedrock topography upon ice relief has been constructed. The major features of the ice sheet were the British, Scandinavian, Barents, and Kara Ice Domes that had altitudes of 1.9 to 3.3 km and were separated from one another by ice saddles about 1.5 km high. At the late Weichselian glacial maximum, all the main ice-dispersion centers were on continental shelves and coastal lowlands, whereas mountain centers, such as the Polar Urals and Byrranga Range, played only a local role.The portions of the ice sheet that were grounded on continental shelves some 700 to 900 m below sea level were inherently unstable and could exist only in conjunction with confined and pinned floating ice shelves that covered the Arctic Ocean and the Greenland and Norwegian Seas.The Eurasian Ice Sheet impounded the Severnaya Dvina, Mezen, Pechora, Ob, Irtysh, and Yneisei Rivers, and caused the formation of ice-dammed lakes on the northern Russian Plain and in West Siberia. Until about 13,500 yr B.P. the proglacial system of lakes and spillways had a radial pattern; it included large West Siberian lakes, the Caspian and Black Seas, and ended in the Mediterranian Sea. Later, the system became marginal and discharged proglacial water mainly into the Norwegian Sea.  相似文献

During an early phase of the Last Ice Age (Weichselian, Valdaian), about 90 000 yr ago, an ice sheet formed over the shallow Barents and Kara seas. The ice front advanced on to mainland Russia and blocked the north‐flowing rivers (Yenissei, Ob, Pechora, Dvina and others) that supply most of the freshwater to the Arctic Ocean. The result was that large ice‐dammed lakes were formed between the ice sheet in the north and the continental water divides to the south. Here we present reconstructions and calculations of the areas and volumes of these lakes. The lake on the West Siberian Plain was nearly twice as large as the largest lake on Earth today. The well‐mapped Lake Komi in northeast Europe and a postulated lake in the White Sea Basin would also rank before the present‐day third largest lake. The lakes overflowed towards the south and thus the drainage of much of the Eurasian continent was reversed. The result was a major change in the water balance on the continent, decreased freshwater supply to the Arctic Ocean, and increased freshwater flow to the Aral, Caspian, Black and Baltic seas. 1997年3月29日额尔齐斯河南湾水文站发生了有记录资料(1985年12月至今)以来唯一一次特殊“武开河”解冻冰情现象,冰情极其特殊且影响后果严重,有必要全面分析其特殊冰情现象、特征及其影响因素。利用“1997·3·29”推冰前后的实测冰情、气温、水位等资料,对特殊“武开河”推冰现象、特征及其主要影响因素进行分析,结果显示:相较于其他年份解冻期气温缓慢稳定上升,这次“武开河”推冰现象发生前气温偏低;受气温转正时间短,气温偏低和冰厚较厚因素制约,“武开河”冰情发生前整个河流断面无推冰迹象,岸边无融冰,只有冰上流水现象;上游开河略早,来水量增加迅猛。“武开河”发生与最大冰厚间无必然因果关系,但上游来水量的急剧增加,水位快速上涨对于“武开河”解冻冰情现象的发生起了决定性作用。新疆阿勒泰地区发生冰凌溃坝型洪水的风险较低,对冰凌灾害的研究与预防方面应主要加强对推冰现象及过程的研究与预警方面。  相似文献

冰厚是冰凌成因分析及预报的重要基础信息,可为防凌减灾提供重要依据。以黄河内蒙古段包头至头道拐水文站为例,利用Sentinel-1雷达影像结合Sentinel-2光学影像对研究区河冰厚度进行估算,首先对Sentinel-2光学影像进行处理,提取凌汛期前黄河主河道边界;然后对Sentinel-1雷达影像进行处理,提取2个强度信息和4个极化分解参数,分析6个雷达特征参数与河冰厚度的相关性;选择相关性最高的参数,采用统计回归方法建立冰厚反演线性回归模型,模型的调整R2为0.657,验证RMSE为9.82 cm,MRE为13.46%,MAE为8.26 cm;对凌汛期黄河冰厚进行反演,分析冰厚时空变化特征,并估算冰储量,同时讨论了河冰的散射机制。研究证明了主动微波遥感数据在黄河冰厚反演中的可行性,可为黄河内蒙古段防凌减灾提供科学参考。  相似文献

This paper presents an application of the TOPEX/Poseidon (T/P) satellite altimetry data to estimate river discharge at three sites along the Amazon River. We discuss the methodology to establish empirical relationships between satellite-derived water levels and daily estimations of river discharges based on rating curves and in situ level measurements at gauging stations. Three sites are chosen: Manacapuru (River Solimões), Jatuarana (nearby the confluence of the Solimões and Rio Negro rivers) and Óbidos (Amazon River). We then reconstruct the satellite-based river discharge over a 10-year time span (1992–2002). Comparison between satellite-derived and river discharge at the gauging stations shows that the T/P data can successfully be used for hydrological studies of large rivers, in providing in particular discharge estimates when in situ data are not available.  A large river ice jam and associated flooding in February 1996 on the Blackfoot and Clark Fork Rivers of western Montana mobilized large amounts of fine-grained sediment. Metal concentrations in sediment downstream from a reservoir containing large amounts of contaminated sediment were enriched in metals after the ice jam, while open reaches above the reservoir were diluted by ice-jam processes. This varied response shows the importance of understanding ice jam events to sediment and metal transport and suggests that ice jams must be considered as important agents affecting sediment metal concentrations in rivers. This paper analyses the data on the distribution of mercury in the surface layer of bottom sediments (0–5 cm) obtained in course of sampling trips within the mouth region of the Severnaya Dvina River and the White Sea area. A total of 170 analyses for mercury were performed. Such wide-scale determination of the mercury content in the bottom sediments was carried out for the first time in the study region. The patterns of mercury distribution in the Severnaya Dvina River-White Sea transect are revealed and described. It is shown that the marginal filter of the Severnaya Dvina River facilitates cosedimentation of the main portion of anthropogenic mercury with suspended matter. This drastically decreases the risk of penetration of mercury to the White Sea waters and partially (with the gravity current) to the Barents Sea waters. In general, the Severnaya Dvina River is characterized by mercury pollution of a local scale within the urban territories. No regional pollution of the White Sea off the marginal filter was revealed.  相似文献

为估算松花江干流哈尔滨至同江段相距660 km的河冰厚度分布,用松花江干流短期实测水文和气象资料,在静态水域斯蒂芬冰厚计算公式基础上,引入水流流速的动能效应。假设河流内水流量相等,建立流速同河流宽度的简单关系,估算了一些调查断面的冰下平均流速;用地表温度资料,对干流域内缺少气象资料的调查断面,在证明结冰期间属于同一天气系统的前提下,用距离平方反比法进行空间插值。最后获得松花江干流河冰厚度统计关系式。用计算的哈尔滨至同江河冰厚度与有限的实测数据比较,发现该方法能够体现人为调节流速对冰生长速率的影响,对计算长距离河冰厚度具有一定精度。  相似文献

The paper discusses results of the lithogeochemical examination of recent bottom sediments in the lower course of the Severnaya Dvina River and White Sea. It has been established that the average concentration of several trace elements (Hf, Sc, Co, Y, Ni, V, Cr, Zr, Ba, and others) therein correlates with the content of the silt-pelite fraction. Maximal concentrations of the majority of above elements are confined to the silty-clayey sediments at the Basin/Dvina Bay boundary. They localized near the coastal zone only for some clastophile (Zr, Cr, and others). Typical values of the hydrolyzate module, chemical index of alteration, and Al2O3/SiO2 ratio in the aleuropelitic and pelitic sediments of the Severnaya Dvina River delta, Dvina Bay, and the Dvina Bay Basin boundary suggest that these sediments are confined to sufficiently cold climate settings. Data points of sediment composition in discriminant paleotectonic diagrams are scattered over a large field probably due to high contents of the weakly weathered plagioclases, micas, and amphiboles, as well as the hydrogenic process promoting the accumulation of Fe and Mn. The PAAS-normalized spectra of rare earth elements (REE) in bottom sediments of the Pinega and Severnaya Dvina rivers, marginal filter of the latter river, Dvina Bay, and the Dvina Bay Basin boundary are similar to the REE distribution in clayey rocks of the ancient platform cover (except for a slight positive Eu anomaly). The REE systematics and distribution pattern of compositional data points of recent bottom sediments in the GdN/YbN-Eu/Eu* and Eu/Eu*-Cr/Th diagrams and values of several indicator ratios of trace elements suggest that the studied rocks were formed by the mixing of clastic materials from geochemically contrast provenances: northwestern provenance (Kola-Karelia geoblock), which is mostly composed of the Archean and Early Proterozoic crystalline complexes, and the southeastern provenance (northwestern periphery of the Mezen syncline), which is almost totally composed of Phanerozoic sedimentary rocks. The latter provenance likely played a crucial role in the geochemical signature of recent bottom sediments over a significant area of the White Sea.  相似文献

大尺度流域水文模型一般只模拟河道径流,对河流水深和流速并不关注。在进行河流-地下水相互作用模拟时,河流水深(水位)是一个重要因素,其时空变化及其对河流-地下水水量交换的影响应加以考虑。本文就流域分布式水文模型中河流水深的时空变化计算及其与地下水的实时耦合模拟进行了研究,提出了相应的计算方法,改进了大尺度水文模型WATLAC,并通过V-型流域考题进行了检验。模拟结果显示,模型有效地模拟了V-型流域的河流水深、地下水水位沿河道的时空变化以及河流与地下水的水交换量,揭示了河流-地下水相互作用关系在降雨过程中的变化规律及主控因子。此外就河床糙率对河流水深及河流与地下水间水交换量的影响做了模拟分析,发现河床糙率的改变将影响河流水深,从而进一步影响河流与地下水的水交换量。本文提出的算法较为真实地模拟了河流洪水演进过程及其对河流-地下水相互作用的影响,模型适用于河流-地下水相互作用明显的区域,可作为评估地表-地下水相互影响的有效计算工具。  相似文献
