Summary Chemical and physical properties in 12 lakes in the north-easternmost part of Norway are studied. Geologically the lakes are situated on the pre-cambrian “Baltic shield”, with metamorphic and intrusive rocks that are not easily soluble. Vertical series of temperature, pH, O2 and x18 together with colour measurements and transparency indicate that the lakes are temperate and fundamentally oligotrophic, some with a dystrophic character. Some individual differences are discussed, with special reference to the surroundings, flow-through rate and morphometry. In accordance with the geology of the area the amount of electrolytes is small. Major ions (Ca, Mg, Na, K, HCO3, SO4 and Cl) are analysed. The greatest differences in the composition of these ions in the lakes are shown to be due mainly to the varying proximity to the sea and to geological differences. Rain is shown to be the most important factor in supplying major ions toat least some of the lakes. Individual variations are discussed, and comparisons are made with the ionic composition of water in other districts.
Zusammenfassung An 12 im n?rdlichesten Teil von Norwegen, auf dem pr?kambrischen Baltischen Schild gelegenen Seen werden die chemischen und physikalischen Eigenschaften studiert. Das Einzugsgebiet besteht aus schwerl?slichem, metamorphem und intrusivem Gestein. Die vertikale Verteilung von Temperatur, pH, O2 und x18 samt Farbmessungen und Transparenz zeigt, dass die Seen dem temperierten Typus angeh?ren und im wesentlichen oligotroph sind, einige von dystrophem Charakter. Einige individuelle Unterschiede werden er?rtert mit besonderer Berücksichtigung der Umgebung, der Durchflutungszeit und der Morphometrie. In übereinstimmung mit der geologischen Beschaffenheit der Umgebung ist der Elektrolytgehalt neigdrig. Die dominierenden Ionen (Ca, Mg, Na, K, HCO3, SO4 und Cl) werden analysiert. Es wird nachgewiesen, dass die gr?ssten Unterschiede in der Zusammensetzung dieser Ionen in den Seen auf die verschiedene Entfernung vom Meer und auf geologische Unterschiede zurückzuführen sind. Für einige der Seen wird nachgewiesen, dass der Regen als wichtigster Faktor für ihre Versorgung mit Ionen anzusehen ist. Es werden individuelle Unterschiede er?rtert und Vergleiche mit der ionalen Zusammensetzung von Gew?ssern anderer Gegenden gezogen.

Two new Th ii lines have been identified in the spectrum of the solar photosphere. The abundance derived from these lines together with the previously known Th ii line at 4019 Å, is log Th = 0.85 ± 0.20 in the log H = 12.00 scale. Analysis of three Pb i lines in the photospheric spectrum resulted in an abundance of log pb = 1.90 ± 0.10. The solar Th/Pb ratio is: Th/ Pb = 0.09 -0.005 0.09 .  相似文献

High resolution spectral observations between 500 MHz and 550 MHz on 1972 October 25, revealed an emission event of special interest. The main feature was bursts with a single frequency duration of about 0.09 s and with a bandwidth of the same order of magnitude as the band covered by the spectrograph. The bursts occurred in showers' which lasted for one or two minutes and which were separated by quiet intervals of roughly the same length. Frequently the activity assumed a periodic nature. Periods between 0.1 s and 0.3 s were found. The most remarkable feature of the records was a very large number of bursts with the same duration as the wide band bursts, but showing a bandwidth of a mere 1–2 MHz.The wide band bursts may be plasma waves excited by proton streams trapped in coronal magnetic fields and the narrow band bursts may possibly be explained as perpendicular electrostatic electron cyclotron waves.  相似文献

Atmospheric temperatures from the polar mesopause are deduced from spectrophotometric measurements of hydroxyl bands and lines in the night airglow made at 78°N during December and January 1980/81 and 1982/83. An overall mean temperature of 220 K is found with a range from 172 to 257 K in the daily mean values. Several warm periods lasting 3–6 days may be due to heat dissipated by gravity waves. One week of consistently low temperatures was apparently connected to a stratospheric warming. Both datasets show a warmer mean temperature later in January than for early and mid-December. The polar OH airglow seems to peak at or just above the mesopause. The data also indicate that the mesopause is situated at approx. 90 km with an upper temperature gradient of 1 K km?1 indicating a very shallow mesopause. A superposed epoch analysis of 19 consecutive 24-h periods reveals a semidiurnal variation in the temperature around winter solstice with an amplitude of 5 K. No diurnal variation of amplitude greater than 1 K is apparent. Average wind velocity deduced from the amplitude of the semidiurnal temperature variation is 9 m s?1.  相似文献

Bivalves are commonly used to detect metal pollution in the marine environment. Commercially cultured Milky oysters (Saccostrea commercialis) were transplanted in various sites along the North Queensland coast and analyzed for two metals of potentially anthropogenic origin (Cd, Zn). To provide additional information, naturally occurring Black Lip oysters (Saccostrea echinata) were also collected at the transplantation sites. The study demonstrated that the oysters species transplanted are good bioindicators of these metal concentrations in tropical waters, sensitive to variations in the environment at concentrations which are much smaller than pollution signals commonly reported for temperate waters. Three transplant experiments were carried out from May 1999 to February 2000. Milky oysters transplanted to offshore areas (Orpheus Is., Kelso Reef) accumulated Cd in the soft parts whereas oysters sampled from cages placed in Ross Creek and the Herbert River estuaries showed a decrease in Cd concentration, which resulted from an increase in dry weight. Dry weight appeared to be an important covariant affecting Cd concentration in the oysters whereas it does not unambiguously affect Zn concentrations. For the duration of the experiments, oysters sampled from the Magnetic Is. reference site showed effectively constant Cd concentrations and total Cd contents which indicates that any seasonal cycle affecting metal concentration is weak. It was found that Cd accumulation in oysters increased as ambient dissolved Cd concentration decreased, from which it was concluded that for these oysters, the predominant source of Cd was from the particulate phase rather than the dissolved phase.  相似文献

The LMDZ4 general circulation model is the atmospheric component of the IPSL–CM4 coupled model which has been used to perform climate change simulations for the 4th IPCC assessment report. The main aspects of the model climatology (forced by observed sea surface temperature) are documented here, as well as the major improvements with respect to the previous versions, which mainly come form the parametrization of tropical convection. A methodology is proposed to help analyse the sensitivity of the tropical Hadley–Walker circulation to the parametrization of cumulus convection and clouds. The tropical circulation is characterized using scalar potentials associated with the horizontal wind and horizontal transport of geopotential (the Laplacian of which is proportional to the total vertical momentum in the atmospheric column). The effect of parametrized physics is analysed in a regime sorted framework using the vertical velocity at 500 hPa as a proxy for large scale vertical motion. Compared to Tiedtke’s convection scheme, used in previous versions, the Emanuel’s scheme improves the representation of the Hadley–Walker circulation, with a relatively stronger and deeper large scale vertical ascent over tropical continents, and suppresses the marked patterns of concentrated rainfall over oceans. Thanks to the regime sorted analyses, these differences are attributed to intrinsic differences in the vertical distribution of convective heating, and to the lack of self-inhibition by precipitating downdraughts in Tiedtke’s parametrization. Both the convection and cloud schemes are shown to control the relative importance of large scale convection over land and ocean, an important point for the behaviour of the coupled model.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to evaluate current knowledge and uncertainties associated with the impact of increasing greenhouse gas and aerosol concentrations on the West African monsoon. For this purpose, coupled and time-slice simulations are used. A global measure of the monsoon changes is defined in order to avoid regional biases and to try and obtain significant results. The position and width of the monsoon in latitude are the main focuses. There is almost no agreement between the Coupled General Circulation models from the Coupled models Inter-Comparison project—Phase II in regard to the impact of climate change on the monsoon. Moreover, very simple discriminations between the models seem inappropriate to get a better signal. The role of the different forcings in time-slice simulations is then investigated. The sea surface temperature (SST) and particularly the pattern of the SST are shown to be the most important forcing. This accounts for the diversity of the results either from the coupled or the forced simulations with different SST changes. With a fixed SST, but of a smaller magnitude in AMJ, there are still uncertainties, coming first from the Atmospheric General Circulation models and the way they balance greenhouse gas and global SST increase. Finally the uncertainty due to the Land Surface models (LSMs) is not negligible. The greenhouse gas and the LSMs are shown to have more impact in August, when the monsoon is at its highest latitude on the continent.  相似文献

The PRUDENCE project has generated a set of spatially and temporally high-resolution climate data, which provides new opportunities for assessing the impacts of climate variability and change on economic and human systems in Europe. In this context, we initiated the development of new approaches for linking climate change information and economic studies. We have considered a number of case studies that illustrate how linkages can be established between geographically detailed climate data and economic information. The case studies included wheat production in agriculture, where regional climate data has been linked to farm enterprise data in an integrated model of physical conditions, production inputs and outputs, and farm management practices. Similarly, temperature data were used to assess consequences of extreme heat and excess mortality in urban areas. We give an introduction of an analytical approach for assessing economic impacts of climate change and discuss how economic concepts and valuation paradigms can be applied to climate change impact evaluation. A number of methodological difficulties encountered in economic assessments of climate change impacts are described and a number of issues related to social and private aspects of costs are highlighted. It is argued that, in particular, detailed climate information matters in relation to understanding how private agents react to observed climate data.  相似文献
