Uranium in coastal sediments of Tokyo Bay and Funka Bay   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The sediment cores from Tokyo Bay and Funka Bay were analyzed for U and its isotopic ratio,234U/238U, after dissolving them in 0.1 M HCl, and 30% H2O2 in 0.05 M HCl. A small fraction of U in the anoxic sediments was dissolved in 0.1M HCl and even the added yield tracer,232U, was lost. The isotopic ratio of H2O2 soluble U in the sediments was equal to that of seawater, suggesting that the H2O2 soluble U in the sediments is authigenic. The 6M HCl solution dissolved part of the lithogenic U besides the authigenic U. The depth profiles of U from the two bays resembled each other. The authigenic U comprised more than half of the total U even at the surface and increased with depth down to 70 cm, showing small maxima at about 20 cm. The concentration of refractory U was nearly constant with depth and similar to that of the pelagic sediments. The highest U concentration, 6 µg g–1 which was about 5 times that of the pelagic sediments, was observed in the layer between 70 and 160 cm depth in Tokyo Bay. The annual sedimentation rates of U in the Tokyo Bay sediments were 2.6 tons at the surface and 7.0 tons at the 70–160 cm depth. The increase in U with depth should be due to the deposition of interstitial U either diffusing downward from the surface indicating the trapping of seawater U, or otherwise diffusing upward from the deeper layer indicating the internal cycling of U within the sediments.  相似文献

New photometric elements,i=89°.5,r a =0.24,r b =0.25 andL a =0.82(Y), 0.88(B), 0.94(U), are deduced for the eclipsing system TU Mon, using the incomplete Fourier method for the analysis of its light curve. They are based upon three-colour photoelectric observations obtained in 1966–68 with the 36-inch reflector of the Okayama Astrophysical Observatory. From discussion combined with the spectroscopic data byDeutsch (1945) and byPopper (1967), it seems fair to conclude that TU Mon is an ordinary semi-detached close binary system consisting of a detached brighter B5V star and an A5 subgiant in contact at its Roche limit.  相似文献

Histological examination of gonads as well as chemical analysis of organotin compounds in tissues of the giant abalone, Haliotis madaka, was conducted to evaluate continuing endocrine disruption in abalone populations in Japan. Abalone specimens were collected from two different areas, Tsushima as a reference site and Jogashima as a site representative of declining abalone populations where serious organotin contamination had been observed, each month from January 1998 to March 1999. Scores were given to the development stages of reproductive cells in the ovary and testis. The degree of sexual maturation was evaluated by calculating the mean value of a histogram of these scores for the reproductive cells of each abalone. The temporal variations in degree of sexual maturation showed that female and male abalone from Tsushima matured synchronously, while those from Jogashima did not, which were similar to results of the previous study during September 1995–November 1996. Approximately 19% of the female abalone from Jogashima were masculinized with an ovo-testis, which was also similar to the result of the previous study. The masculinization of female abalone is reported to be induced by tributyltin (TBT) and triphenyltin (TPhT) from antifouling paints. Concentrations of the sum of butyltins (TBT, dibutyltin (DBT) and monobutyltin (MBT): ΣBTs) and the sum of phenyltins (TPhT, diphenyltin (DPhT) and monophenyltin (MPhT): ΣPhTs) in the muscle of abalone from Jogashima (n = 73) of 7.8 ± 9.0 ng/g wet wt. and 4.5 ± 6.8 ng/g wet wt., respectively, were significantly higher than those from Tsushima (n = 87) of 4.7 ± 4.9 ng/g wet wt. and 0.8 ± 1.7 ng/g wet wt., respectively (p < 0.05 for ΣBTs; p < 0.001 for ΣPhTs), although concentrations of TBT and TPhT in the muscle of abalone from Jogashima (n = 73) of 2.2 ± 2.5 ng/g wet wt. and 5.8 ± 5.1 ng/g wet wt., respectively, were insignificantly and significantly higher than those from Tsushima (n = 87) of 0.4 ± 0.6 ng/g wet wt. and 0.5 ± 0.9 ng/g wet wt., respectively, (p > 0.05 for TBT; p < 0.001 for TPhT). Thus, endocrine disruption as well as contamination by organotins in the giant abalone from Jogashima is still persisting.  相似文献

The dominantly passive volcanic Vøring and Møre Margins, NE Atlantic, are separated by the 200 km long Vøring Transform Margin (VTM). The southern Vøring Basin and the VTM have been studied by use of four regional Ocean Bottom Seismograph (OBS) profiles, combined by gravity modelling. The models demonstrate a complex pattern of magmatism along the transform margin. The distribution of magmatism seems to be related to the existence and trend of a lower crustal 8+ km/s body, interpreted as eclogitized rocks, present in the southern Vøring Basin. Early Tertiary breakup related magmatic ‘leakage’ across the Continent–Ocean-Transition (COT) appears to be facilitated where this layer is absent. These results support earlier workers who have concluded that the Jan Mayen Fracture Zone originated from a Caledonian zone of weakness. We propose that partly eclogitized rocks were uplifted into the lower crust close to this zone during the Caledonian orogeny and that this body acted as a barrier to magma emplacement during the Late Cretaceous–Early Eocene phase of rifting/breakup. The eclogitized terrain also appears to have caused northeastward channeling of the Late Cretaceous–Early Tertiary intrusions within the Vøring Basin. An up to 10 km thick pre-Cretaceous sedimentary basin in the southern Vøring Basin may be genetically related to the NS-trending Late Paleozoic and Mesozoic rift basins in North-East Greenland.  相似文献

Regional differences in climatic change are of importance in order to establish the counter-measures for the damage by anomalous climate to agricultural production. It is not unusual for some regions to suffer floods while droughts occur in nearby regions at the same time. This paper deals mainly with the regionality of climatic change in E Asia during recent years, using the year-climate method expressed by the Köppen's system of climatic classification. Occurrence frequencies of BW, BS, Cf, Cw, Dwa, Dwb, and Dwc-type showed striking regionalities, which were obtained from the data at the 134 observatories over E Asia during the period from 1951 to 1970. The distribution of climatic types in each year shows various tendencies: Wet and cold as in 1954 and 1957 shows a pattern in which the boundary between C-type and D-type runs south and the Cfa-zone is broad, extending from middle E China to SW Japan. In contrast, in dry and warm years like 1965, the Dwa regions disappear in the N of E China and the BS region is located just north of the Cwa region, which is distributed broadly from China to Japan. Occurrence frequencies of year climate during the last 100 years were calculated for the 4 stations: Hong Kong, Manila, Shanghai and Tokyo. The results were compared with the distribution types of winter temperature and summer precipitation in China. It seems that the precipitation conditions in summer were reversed between the Philippines and China. Summarizing the results obtained, a schema of the regionality of climatic fluctuation in E and SE Asia was given in relation to the upper air streams. The position of the subtropical jet stream in winter shows a close relationship to the N limit of the Aw and Am year climate regions and in summer with the S limit of Dw region in NE China and North Korea. The Cw and Cf year climate regions in E Asia are located roughly in the regions bounded by the axes of subtropical jet streams in winter and in summer. The Dw year climate region in the E of the Tibetan Plateau reflects the altitudinal effect of the Cw climate of SE China. The N of E China has the variable BS year climate, which may related to the summer and winter jet stream conditions. Finally, the interannual change of the agricultural production index was dealt with in relation to the occurrence frequency of year climate types over E Asia during the years 1967–1970. As far as this period is concerned, the drier conditions are more effective than the wetter conditions in reducing agricultural production.  相似文献
