Multispectral (MS) and panchromatic (PAN) images contains complementary information. High spatial and spectral resolution is a prerequisite for images to be useful, which can be achieved through image pansharpening. In this paper, we propose a new pansharpening technique which is a combination of nonsubsampled contourlet transform (NSCT) and sparse representation (SR), called NSCT–SR. NSCT is a shift-invariant version of the contourlet transform which combines nonsubsampled pyramid (NSP) and the directional filter banks. NSP splits input MS and PAN images into low-pass and high-pass sub-bands. Fusion of high-pass sub-bands is done using local energy information while low-pass sub-bands are fused using SR. Finally, fused low-pass and high-pass sub-bands are combined to obtain image with high spatial and high spectral resolution. We have quantitatively compared NSCT–SR with other multiresolution algorithms by calculating spatial and spectral quality parameters. It is observed that spatial quality is improved by 0.93 % (for seaside image) and 1.54 % (for urban image). While spectral quality is improved maximum up to 31.39 and 40.47 %, for respective images. NSCT–SR also compared with other state-of-art algorithms by calculating various performance parameters including quality with no reference. It is found that, overall; NSCT–SR performs better compared to algorithms considered in work. 相似文献

The propagationmechanism of low latitude daytime whistlers is investigated on the basis of ground measurements made continuously
during daytime in North India at Jammu (geomag. lat. 22°26°N;L = 1.17). On February 14, 1998 extremely small dispersion (ESD)
whistlers with dispersion varying from 5–10 sec1/2 in surprisingly large numbers were recorded at Jammu during daytime in the late afternoon. The results of a study of the
characteristics of ESD whistlers are presented and the discussion indicates that ESD whistlers recorded are the VLF waves
radiated from the return stroke of the lightning discharge launched at the ionosphere with different initial wave normal angles,
propagated upwards under eitherquasi-longitudinal conditions or pro-longitudinal whistler mode, turned around at different
heights due to quasi-transverse propagation and received at Jammu with the dispersion of the order of 5–10 sec1/2. The validity of this suggestion has been tested by performing actualray-tracing computations in thepresence of equatorial
anomaly model.

The present study demonstrates a spatially distributed application of a field‐scale annual soil loss model, the modified‐MMF (MMMF), to a large watershed using hydrological routing techniques, remote sensing data and geospatial technologies. In this study, the MMMF model is implemented after incorporating the corrections suggested in recent literature along with appropriate modifications of the model to suit the agro‐climatological conditions prevailing in most parts of India. Sensitivity analysis carried out through an Average Linear Sensitivity approach indicates that the model outputs are highly sensitive to soil moisture (MS), bulk density (BD), effective hydraulic depth (EHD), ground cover (GC) and settling velocity for clay (VSc). During calibration and validation, the performance evaluation statistics are mostly in the range of very good to satisfactory for both runoff and soil loss at the watershed outlet. Even spatial validation of the results of intermediate processes in the water phase and the sediment phase, although qualitative, seems to be reasonable and rational. Furthermore, the soil erosion severity analysis for different land‐uses existing in the watershed indicates that about 90% of the watershed area, especially that occupied by agricultural lands, is vulnerable to the long‐term effects of soil erosion. The grid DEM(digital elevation model) generation can be from any of a number of sources:for instance, analogue to digital conversion of contour maps followed by application of the TIN model,or direct elevation point modelling via digital photogrammetry applied to airborne images or satellite images.Currently, apart from the deployment of point-clouds from LiDAR data acquisition, the generally favoured approach refers to applications of digital photogrammetry. One of the most important steps in such deployment i... 相似文献

The impact of increased temperature on the Third Pole, as the Himalayas is referred to, and the likely cascading impacts on the general downstream hydrology have been widely noted. However, the impact on fluvial geomorphology has not received specific attention. Change in the glacial domain in terms of melt increase will change discharge and sediment flux into fluvial system, which will induce changes in fluvial processes and forms. The present work attempts to study this process-based glacio-fluvial coupling in the two neighbouring glaciated river basins in the Northwest Himalaya, viz., the Sutlej and the Yamuna river basins till the mountain front. A total of 194 samples of river, tributary and groundwater of pre- and post-monsoon seasons in the two river basins were analysed for stable isotopes. The trend of δ18O and electrical conductivity along the mainstream gives qualitative idea on the influence of headwaters in the downstream of the catchment thereby allowing inference on melt contribution. Further, two component mixing model using stable oxygen isotope of two seasons water samples showed that melt contributes about 41.1–66.8 and 6.6–10.6% at different points to the total river discharge in the Sutlej and the Tons River (the glaciated, major tributary of the Yamuna River) basins, respectively. For different scenarios of increase in melt, stream power increase in the Sutlej River basin is significant as opposed to the Tons River. River channel in the Sutlej River basin will be significantly more impacted in comparison with the Yamuna River system. 相似文献

AbstractThe strong wet and dry seasons of tropical monsoon hydrology in India necessitate development of storage and flow diversion schemes for utilization of water to meet various social and economic needs. However, the river valley schemes may cause adverse flow-related impacts due to storage, flow diversion, tunnelling and spoil disposal. There may be critical reaches in which altered flows are not able to sustain the river channel ecology and riparian environment that existed prior to implementation of the storage and diversion schemes. In the past, environmental flows in India have usually been understood as the minimum flow to be released downstream from a dam as compensation for riparian rights, without considering the impacts on the river ecosystem. Rivers in India have been significantly influenced by anthropogenic activities over the past 60 years and have great social and religious significance to the vast population. This paper explores various aspects of past, present and future environmental flow assessment (EFA) in India highlighted by case studies from rivers across the nation. It demonstrates that multidisciplinary studies requiring expertise from a range of fields are needed for EFA, and that environmental flows are necessary for aquatic ecosystems to remain in a healthy state and for the sustainable use of water resources. The major focus areas for the development of EFA research in India are the creation of a shareable database for hydrological, ecological and socioeconomic data, developing hydrology–ecology relationships, evaluation of ecosystem services, addressing pollution due to anthropogenic activities and promotion of research on EFA. At the same time, efforts will be needed to develop new methods or refine existing methods for India.

An assessment of cyclone risk and vulnerability at the village level has evolved, which is an important component of the information system for local level development action plans for preparedness and mitigation. Here, a case study for the Nellore district along the east coast of India is considered. Using maximum probable surges along the coast, total water level (TWL) due to the combined effect of surge, tide, and wind wave is computed for the most vulnerable coastal villages of the Nellore district due to any tropical cyclones. The computations suggest that the TWL along the Nellore coast varies from 2 m in the south to 4 m in the north. 相似文献
