The seasonal variation in the trace metals’ concentrations (Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn) were investigated in surface sediments of the Pandoh Lake. The horizontal distribution of TC, TN, and TP reflects spatial and temporal differences in sedimentary organic production. The chemical sequential extraction of heavy metals was carried out by seven-step fractionation scheme (Leleyter and Probst in Int J Environ Chem 73:109–128, 1999). The significant concentrations of Ni and Cd were associated with “water soluble (Eua)” fraction in the monsoon and winter, respectively, while “exchangeable (Exch)” and “carbonate-bound (Carb)” fractions for Ni and Cd were abundant in winter and summer. The Cd, Cu, and Pb associated with “Exch” fraction in the summer season support their availability on exchange sites due to oxidized nature of surface sediments. Enrichment of Co, Fe, Mn, and Zn in “AFeO” fraction showed poor bioavailability, while Cd, Cu, and Mn in the monsoon, Co in the winter and summer, and Zn in the winter season showed significant “organically bound (Org)” fraction. The ANOVA was significant for chemical fractions of trace elements except “Carb” fraction of Pb and Zn and “CFeO” fraction of Pb. Factor analysis revealed that the “Eua”, “Exch”, and “Carb” fractions together control the metal enrichment of “MnO”, “AFeO”, and “CFeO” fractions in the summer season.  相似文献

The existence of mixed pixels in the satellite images has always been an area of concern. Adding to the challenge is an occurrence of non-linearity between the classes, which is generally overlooked. The study makes an attempt to solve the two frequently occurring problems by kernel based fuzzy approach. This research work deals with Possibilistic c-Means (PCM) classifier with local, global, spectral angle and hyper tangent kernels for wheat crop (Triticum aestivum) identification in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, India. The multi-temporal vegetation index data of Formosat-2 have been used which covers the whole phenology of wheat crop. The additional sensor Landsat-8 OLI imagery has been filled the crucial gap of Formosat-2 temporal datasets. Nine types of proposed kernels based PCM classifier have been applied on three temporal datasets (four, five and six date combinations) to classify two classes early sown and late sown wheat crop. These test results have been concluded that at optimized weighted constant KMOD and polynomial kernel was found effective to separate wheat crop. The five and six date combination were sufficient to discriminate early sown and late sown wheat crop.  相似文献

Soil salinity is one of the main agricultural problems which expand to larger areas. Soil scientists categorize salinity level by electrical conductivity (EC) measurement. However, field measurements of EC require extensive time, cost and experiences. Remote sensing is one suitable option to investigate and collect spatial data in larger areas. Many researches estimated soil moisture through microwave, but there are fewer studies which mentioned about direct relationship between EC and backscattering coefficient (BC). Thus, this study aims to propose the estimation of EC directly from BC of microwave. The relationship between EC obtained from field survey and BC from microwave is non-linear, artificial neural network (ANN) is one technique proposed in this study to figure out EC and BC relationship. ANN uses multilayer of interconnected processing resulting in EC value with high accuracy which is acceptable. For this reason, ANN model can be successfully utilized as an effective tool for EC estimation from microwave.  相似文献

Soil formation depends upon several factors such as parent material, soil biota, topography and climate. It is difficult to use conventional soil survey methods for mapping the depth of soil in complex mountainous terrains. In this context, the present study aimed to estimate the soil depth for a large area (330.35 km2) using different geo-environmental factors through a soil-landscape regression kriging (RK) model in the Darjeeling Himalayas. RK with seven predictor variables such as elevation, slope, aspect, general curvature, topographic wetness index, distance from the streams and land use, was used to estimate the soil depth. While topographic parameters were derived from an 8-m resolution digital elevation model, the ortho-rectified Cartosat-1 satellite image was used to prepare the land use map. Soil depth measured at 148 sites within the study area was used to calibrate and validate the RK model. The result showed that the RK model with the seven predictors could explain 67% spatial variability of soil depth with a prediction variance between 0.23 and 0.42 m at the test site. In the regression analysis, land use (0.133) and slope (–0.016) were identified as significant determinants of soil depth. The prediction map showed higher soil depth in south-facing slopes and near valleys in comparison to other areas. Mean, mean absolute and root mean-square errors were used to access the reliability of the prediction, which indicated a goodness-of-fit of the RK model.  相似文献

The present effect of watershed subdivision on simulated water balance components using the thoroughly tested Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model has been evaluated for the Nagwan watershed in eastern India. Observed meteorological and hydrological data (daily rainfall, temperature, relative humidity and runoff) for the years 1995 to 1998 were collected and used. The watershed and sub‐watershed boundaries, slope and soil texture maps were generated using a geographical information system. A supervised classification method was used for land‐use/cover classification from satellite imagery of 1996. In order to study the effect of watershed subdivision, the watershed was spatially defined into three decomposition schemes, namely a single watershed, and 12 and 22 sub‐watersheds. The simulation using the SWAT model was done for a period of 4 years (1995 to 1998). Results of the study showed a perfect water balance for the Nagwan watershed under all of the decomposition schemes. Results also revealed that the number and size of sub‐watersheds do not appreciably affect surface runoff. Except for runoff, there was a marked variation in the individual components of the water balance under the three decomposition schemes. Though the runoff component of the water balance showed negligible variation among the three cases, variations were noticed in the other components: evapotranspiration (5 to 48%), percolation (2 to 26%) and soil water content (0·30 to 22%).
