The observed long-term trends in extreme temperatures in Hong Kong were studied based on the meteorological data recorded at the Hong Kong Observatory Headquarters from 1885-2008. Results show that, over the past 124 years, the extreme daily minimum and maximum temperatures, as well as the length of the warm spell in Hong Kong, exhibit statistically significant long-term rising trends, while the length of the cold spell shows a statistically significant decreasing trend. The time-dependent return period analysis also indicated that the return period for daily minimum temperature at 4°C or lower lengthened considerably from 6 years in 1900 to over 150 years in 2000, while the return periods for daily maximum temperature reaching 35°C or above shortened drastically from 32 years in 1900 to 4.5 years in 2000. Past trends in extreme temperatures from selected weather stations in southern China from 1951-2004 were also assessed. Over 70% of the stations studied yielded a statistically significant rising trend in extreme daily minimum temperature, while the trend for extreme maximum temperatures was found to vary, with no significant trend established for the majority of stations.  相似文献

This study investigated the impact of multiple-Doppler radar data and surface data assimilation on forecasts of heavy rainfall over the central Korean Peninsula;the Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF) model and its three-dimensional variational data assimilation system(3DVAR) were used for this purpose. During data assimilation,the WRF 3DVAR cycling mode with incremental analysis updates(IAU) was used. A maximum rainfall of 335.0 mm occurred during a 12-h period from 2100 UTC 11 July 2006 to 0900 UTC 12 July 2006.Doppler radar data showed that the heavy rainfall was due to the back-building formation of mesoscale convective systems(MCSs).New convective cells were continuously formed in the upstream region,which was characterized by a strong southwesterly low-level jet(LLJ).The LLJ also facilitated strong convergence due to horizontal wind shear,which resulted in maintenance of the storms.The assimilation of both multiple-Doppler radar and surface data improved the accuracy of precipitation forecasts and had a more positive impact on quantitative forecasting(QPF) than the assimilation of either radar data or surface data only.The back-building characteristic was successfully forecasted when the multiple-Doppler radar data and surface data were assimilated.In data assimilation experiments,the radar data helped forecast the development of convective storms responsible for heavy rainfall,and the surface data contributed to the occurrence of intensified low-level winds.The surface data played a significant role in enhancing the thermal gradient and modulating the planetary boundary layer of the model,which resulted in favorable conditions for convection.  相似文献

Thermal histories of Cretaceous sedimentary basins in the Korean peninsula have been assessed to understand the response of the East Asian continental margin to subduction of the Paleo‐Pacific (Izanagi) Plate. The Izanagi Plate subducted obliquely beneath the East Asian continent during the Early Cretaceous and orthogonally in the Late Cretaceous. First, the Jinan Basin, a pull‐apart basin, was studied by illite crystallinity and apatite fission‐track analyses. Analytical results indicate that Jinan Basin sediment was heated to a maximum temperature of approximately 287°C by burial. The sediment experienced two cooling episodes during ca 95–80 Ma and after ca 30 Ma, with a quiescent period between them. A similar cooling pattern is recognized in the Gyeongsang Basin, the largest Cretaceous basin in Korea. The Jinan and Gyeongsang Basins were cooled mainly by exhumation between ca 95 and 80 Ma, but the former was exhumed slightly earlier than the latter by transpressional force due to the subduction direction change of the Izanagi Plate. Comparison of thermal history of Korean Cretaceous basins with those of granitoids in northeastern China and the accretionary complexes in southwestern Japan reveals that the Upper Cretaceous regional exhumation of the East Asian continental margin including the Korean peninsula during ca 95–80 Ma was facilitated by the subduction of the Izanagi–Pacific ridge, which migrated northeastwards with time, resulting in the end of regional exhumation at ca 80 Ma in this region.  相似文献

Field evidence from intrusive and effusive carbonatites supportsthe existence of calciocarbonatite magmas. Published experimentalevidence in the model system Na2O–CaO–Al2O3–SiO2–CO2indicated the formation of nearly pure (99%) CaCO3 immiscibleliquids from a carbonated silicate liquid. This evidence hasbeen used to support interpretations of extremely CaCO3-richcalciocarbonatite magmas, and immiscible liquids with compositionsof almost pure CaCO3 in metasomatized mantle peridotite andeclogite. Detailed phase relationships are constructed in themodel system, based on phase fields intersected by the joinNaAlSi3O8–CaCO3 (Ab-CC) at 1.0, 1.5, and 2.5 GPa between1100 and 1500C, and analyzed immiscible liquids. The miscibilitygap between silicate-rich liquid and carbonate-rich liquid intersectedby the join Ab-CC contracts considerably with decreasing pressure:2.5 GPa, between Ab10CC90 (by wt%) and Ab65CC35 above 1310C;1.5 GPa, betweenAb23CC77 and Ab43CC57 above 1285C; 1.0 GPa,not intersected. The liquidus piercing point between calciteand silicates becomes enriched in CaCO3 with decreasing pressure,from Ab80CC20 at 2.5 GPa to Ab47CC53 at 1.0 GPa. No immiscibleliquid contains more than 80% dissolved CaCO3, and all containat least 5% Na2CO3. A round CaCO3 phase exhibiting morphologysimilar to that displayed by immiscible liquid globules is determinedto be crystalline calcite under experimental conditions. Thetopology of the phase fields and field boundaries illustratesthe kinds of processes and controls existing in magmatic systems.Calciocarbonatite magmas cannot be produced by equilibrium immiscibilityprocess in the mantle. Carbonated silicate magmas in the crustyield residual calciocarbonatite magmas by fractionation alongthe silicate-calcite field boundary, reached either directlyfrom the silicate liquidus or more commonly via the miscibilitygap. Immiscible carbonaterich magmas when freed from the silicateparent cool down a sleep silicate liquidus until they reacha silicate-carbonate field boundary. There is no experimentalevidence for immiscible calciocarbonatite magmas with > 80%CaCO3, and calcite lapilli cannot be formed from 99% CaCO3 magmas.Sovites are surely cumulates. The South Kawishiwi intrusion, located along the western marginof the Duluth Complex, Minnesota, is one of several compositeintrusions that are found in the Complex. The Duluth Complexis the principal exposed plutonic portion of the 1.1 Ga MidcontineniRift system. In the Spruce Road area the South Kawishiwi intrusionis divided into seven distinct units that are part of the broaderSouth Kawishiwi Troctolite Series defined by Severson (Tech.Rep. NRRI/TR-91/13a, Natural Resources Research Institute, Universityof Minnesota, Duluth, 1994). Units may be characterized as follows:Unit I—basal accumulation of heterogeneous gabbro, troctolite,and norite; Unit II—norite with abundant inverted pigeonite;Unit III—troctolite and olivine gabbro with local oxide-richlayers; Unit IV—mlatroctolite, troctolite, olivine gabbro;Unit VI—increased plagioclase abundance in troctolitesand leucocratic troctolites; Unit VI—strongly alteredtroctolite; Unit VII—similar to Unit V, troctolite andleucocratic troctolite. Country rocks in the Spruce Road areaare granodiorite to quartz monzonite of the Archean Giants RangeBatholith. Sutfide mineralization, consisting of 1–5 vol.% of disseminated pyrrhotitt, cubanite, chalcopyrite and pentlandite,occurs in Units I, II, III, and VI. Oxygen isotopic analysesindicate that Unit II has experienced extensive crustal contamination.18O values of Unit II range from 6.9 to 7.1% and are 18O enrichedcompared with values of 5.1–6.8% found in other units.Silica contamination is indicated based not only on 18O values,but also by the predominance of orthopyroxene in the unit. Possiblehigh-18O contaminant rocks include the Giants Range Batholithand pelitic rocks of the Lower Proterozoic Virginia Formationor Biwabik Iron Formation. Mass balance computations suggestthat units in the Spruce Road area may be related through varyingdegrees of fractionation of a high-Al, olivine tholeiite magma.Modeling of trace element concentrations and variations in mineralchemistry suggest that discontinuities within the major unitsdeveloped by in situ boundary-layer equilibrium crystallizationof solidification zones 20–50 m in thickness, followedby recharge of fresh magma. Upward enrichment of incompatibleelements, olivine Fa content, and plagioclase Ab content maybe effectively explained by this process. 18O values of uncontaminatedrock types are strongly correlative with modal mineralogy, andcan also be modeled by boundary-layer fractionation, A parentalmagma 18 O value of 6.3% is calculated for Unit VII based onolivine and plagioclase values, and is similar to that of severalother large, layered mafic intrusives. Seismic data are usually separated into P-waves and S-waves before being put through a scalar (acoustic) migration. The relationship between polarization and moveout is exploited to design filters that extract the desired wavetype. While these filters can always be applied to shot records, they can only be applied to a triaxial common-receiver gather in special cases since the moveout of scattered energy on the receiver gather relates to path differences between the surface shots and the scatterer while the polarization is determined by the path from scatterer to downhole geophone. Without the ability to separate wavefields before migration, a ‘vector scalar’ or an elastic migration becomes a necessity. Here the propagation of the elastic wavefield for a given mode (e.g. P-S) is approximated by two scalar (acoustic) propagation steps in a ‘vector scalar’ migration. ‘Vector’ in that multicomponent data is migrated and 'scalar’ in that each propagation step is based on a scalar wave equation for the appropriate mode. It is assumed that interaction between the wavefields occurs only once in the far-field of both the source and receiver. Extraction of the P, SV and SH wavefields can be achieved within the depth migration (if one assumes isotropy in the neighbourhood of the downhole receiver) by a projection onto the polarization for the desired mode. Since the polarization of scattered energy is only a function of scatterer position and receiver position (and not source position), the projection may be taken outside the migration integral in the special case of the depth migration of a common-receiver gather. The extraction of the desired mode is then performed for each depth migration bin after the separate scalar migration of each receiver gather component. This multicomponent migration of triaxial receiver gathers is conveniently implemented with a hybrid split-step Fourier-excitation-time imaging condition depth migration. The raytracing to get the excitation-time imaging condition also provides the expected polarization for the post-migration projection. The same downward extrapolated wavefield can be used for both the P-P and P-S migrations, providing a flexible and efficient route to the migration of multicomponent data. The technique is illustrated on a synthetic example and a single-level Walk-away Seismic Profile (WSP) from the southern North Sea. The field data produced images showing a P-P reflector below the geophone and localized P-P and P-S scatterers at the level of the geo-phone. These scatterers, which lie outside the zone of specular illumination, are interpreted as faults in the base Zechstein/top Rotliegendes interface.  相似文献

ABSTRACT Stokes surfaces in aeolian deposits are caused by wind scour of unconsolidated material to a roughly planar horizon controlled by near-surface water-tables (Stokes, 1968). A water-table forms a downward limit of scour through the cohesion of damp or wet sand near water-table, and through early cementation by evaporites precipitated in the sediments as water evaporates near the sand-air interface. Study of modern analogues reveals that Stokes surfaces exist in a variety of depositional settings, including a coastal offshore prograding sand sea (Jafurah, Saudi Arabia); a coastal onshore prograding sand sea (Guerrero Negro, Mexico) and a continental sand sea (White Sands, New Mexico, USA). These modern analogues indicate that our concept of Stokes surfaces must be broadened to include the following: (i) modern analogues for Stokes surfaces described here cover areas on the order of 25 km2. These may be as representative of similar surfaces in ancient rocks as hypothesized plains of deflation requiring removal of entire sand seas; (ii) Stokes surfaces occupy a continuum in scale from local to extensive, and erosional surfaces of different magnitude may be stacked closely in the sediments; (iii) Stokes surfaces, although erosional in nature, are commonly associated with deposits both above and below the Stokes bounding surface which plainly reveal the influence of a near-surface groundwater control on wind sedimentation. Moreover, the erosional relief of the bounding surface itself (as well as other features) reveals the influence of a groundwater-table; (iv) Stokes surfaces may be diachronous, representing the lateral shift of a zone of scour within a sand sea rather than simultaneous removal of all dunes from the area encompassed by the erosional surface; (v) Stokes surfaces and associated deposits are often laterally transitional to surfaces and deposits of adjacent depositional environments, including interdunes, tidal flats, lagoons, beaches, lakes and non-aeolian sabkhas. Finally, modern examples from different depositional settings suggest that while most Stokes surfaces have many features in common (such as erosional ridges due to early cementation), there are some features which may, with further study, be revealed to be distinctive of an individual depositional setting.  相似文献

黄河经常改道,给中国带来肥沃的耕地,也带来灾难。历代黄河河道变迁反映在地图上,可以断定地图的成图年代。先秦至宋代,黄河基本在华北平原用不同河道进入渤海。自1194年开始,黄河夺淮,分两支,北入渤海,南注黄海。1580年治河后,黄河只有南支汇淮河入黄海,到1855年再恢复单支入渤海。黄河4次大改道的历史可以印证地图成图年代。《坤輿万国全图》上的黄河分两支,为1194—1580年状态,不是利玛窦与李之藻时代的黄河,他们应该目击而未更正,证明两者均没有参加《坤輿万国全图》的测绘,地图存在远较二人时代为早。卫匡国的《中国新地图集》,黄河只表示南支入黄海,是1580年以后的材料,比1541年的《广舆图》资料更新。地图制作有勘探、测绘、拼合、制版、印刷、翻译等步骤。严格来说,地图最重要的创作者是勘探测绘者,其他的任务是后勤,翻译重绘更是省事。《中国新地图集》主要制作人不是卫匡国,实为中国历代省、县、乡分工测绘,明代统其成,已用经纬线,球形投影绘制。《坤輿万国全图》则是郑和等率领大航海的经验总结。卫、利、李等人只参与翻译,添加地名和序言。这两份外国保存的中国地图重现中国历史,证明郑和时代的大航海是世界地理大发现的先驱,近代地图学为中国原创,中国地图学西传才更接近史实。  相似文献
