The golden cuttlefish, Sepia esculenta Hoyle, 1885 (Cephalopoda: Sepiidae) is a valuable and important fishery resource for China, Japan and Korea. This fishery has experienced severe population decline largely due to overexploitation in past decades. To provide guidelines for fisheries management, we estimated genetic diversity and population structure across four locations along the coast of Japan and one location in China (a total 281 individuals) using nine microsatellite DNA loci. Sepia esculenta showed high genetic variability with mean allele richness ranging from 15.8 to 21.4, and mean heterozygosity from 0.80 to 0.90. Weak but significant genetic differentiation was present and the FST value was 0.020 across all five populations. The useful information obtained in this study will offer insights into how to fine‐tune conservation and fishery management measures for this species and resource in the future.  相似文献

North-seeking bacteria (NSB) with 1 μm diameters migrate to the S pole only. They were applied to identify the S pole determination on a polished surface of magnetite-rich pyroxenite whose natural remanent magnetization (NRM) intensity was 5.64 × 10−3 Am2 kg−1. The microscopic observations were performed under dark-field illumination in a controlled magnetic field to 10 μT. The NSB formed clusters on limited areas of magnetite grains and scattered over the whole magnetite grains.

The NRM decreased to 1.02 × 10−5 Am2 kg−1 by alternating field (AF) demagnetization to 60 mT but no clusters appeared, while small populations of the NSB scattered on each grain. These scattered bacteria may gather toward the S pole resulting from magnetic domain walls.

When the sample acquired saturation isothermal remanent magnetization (SIRM) to 1 T, the NSB formed dense clusters at the opposite side to the applied field direction on the many grains as expected. This evidence indicated that the NSB can be useful micro-organisms for the determination of fine magnetic structures. Some grains also had NSB clusters at the edge of the grains toward the field direction or did not exhibit any clusters. The complicated distribution of the clusters (the S poles) may be explained by shape anisotropy of the magnetic grains.  相似文献

The linear analysis of the instability due to vertical shear in the dust layer of the solar nebula is performed. The following assumptions are adopted throughout this paper: (1) The self-gravity of the dust layer is neglected. (2) One fluid model is adopted, where the dust aggregates have the same velocity with the gas due to strong coupling by the drag force. (3) The gas is incompressible. The calculations with both the Coriolis and the tidal forces show that the tidal force has a stabilizing effect. The tidal force causes the radial shear in the disk. This radial shear changes the wave number of the mode which is at first unstable, and the mode is eventually stabilized. Thus the behavior of the mode is divided into two stages: (1) the first growth of the unstable mode which is similar to the results without the tidal force, and (2) the subsequent stabilization due to an increase of the wave number by the radial shear. If the midplane dust/gas density ratio is smaller than 2, the stabilization occurs before the unstable mode grows largely. On the other hand, the mode grows faster by one hundred orders of magnitude, if this ratio is larger than 20. Because the critical density of the gravitational instability is a few hundreds times as large as the gas density, the hydrodynamic instability investigated in this paper grows largely before the onset of the gravitational instability. It is expected that the hydrodynamic instability develops turbulence in the dust layer and the dust aggregates are stirred up to prevent from settling further. The formation of planetesimals through the gravitational instabilities is difficult to occur as long as the dust/gas surface density ratio is equal to that for the solar abundance. On the other hand, the shear instability is suppressed and the planetesimal formation through the gravitational instability may occur, if dust/gas surface density ratio is hundreds times as large as that for the solar abundance.  相似文献

The M8.5 object SSSPM J0109−5101 has recently been shown to be both a periodic and a flaring variable, based on optical observations in the extreme red. More than 16 h of monitoring in the near-infrared (NIR) reported here failed to show any variability. Similarly, no NIR variability could be detected in intensive monitoring of three other suspected optical variables. This paper also reports on photometry of half a dozen targets monitored over a few weeks, and on the comparison of intensive monitoring at different epochs. In only one case, that of the T dwarf binary ε Indi Bab, is there good evidence for variability. Our results allow stringent limits to be placed on the NIR variability levels in a large sample of ultracool dwarfs.  相似文献

Time-series data of the vertical structure of the Soya Warm Current (SWC) were obtained by a bottom-mounted acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) in the middle of the Soya Strait from September 2006 to July 2008. The site of the ADCP measurement was within the coverage of the ocean-radar measurement around the strait. The volume transport of the SWC through the strait is estimated on the basis of both the vertical structure observed by the ADCP and the horizontal structure observed by the radars for the first time. The annual transport estimates are 0.62–0.67 Sv (1 Sv = 106 m3s−1). They are somewhat smaller than the difference between the previous estimates of the inflow and outflow through other straits in the Sea of Japan, and smaller than those obtained in the region downstream of the strait during 2004–05 (0.94–1.04 Sv). The difference in the two periods may be attributed to interannual variability of the SWC and/or the different measurement locations.  相似文献

We present deep wide-field (16.4×16.4 arcmin2) Washington CT 1 CCD surface photometry of the giant elliptical galaxy NGC 4472, the brightest member of the Virgo cluster. Our data cover a wider and deeper field than any previous CCD photometry. A single King model does not give a good fit to the surface brightness profiles of NGC 4472, but they can be fitted approximately using two King models: with the separate models representing the inner and outer regions . Surface brightness profiles for the outer region can also be fitted approximately by a de Vaucouleurs law. There is clearly a negative colour gradient within 3 arcmin of NGC 4472, in the sense that the colour gets bluer with increasing radius. The slope of the colour gradient for this region is derived to be Δ μ ( C − T 1)=−0.08 mag arcsec−2 for Δ log  r =1, which corresponds to a metallicity gradient of Δ[Fe/H]=−0.2 dex. However, the surface colour becomes gradually redder with increasing radius beyond 3 arcmin. A comparison of the structural parameters of NGC 4472 in C and T 1 images has shown that there is little difference in the shapes of ellipses observed using isochromes or isophotes. In addition, photometric and structural parameters of NGC 4472 have been determined.  相似文献

In situ pH profiles are reported for the first time for Lakes Nyos and Monoun. The pH profiles were converted to CO2 profiles using HCO3 profiles calculated from conductivity data. Recent observations (1993–1996) at Lake Nyos indicates that CO2 still accumulates below 180 m depth at a rate of 125 Mmol year−1. At Lake Monoun, the majority of CO2 is present below a depth of 60 m, only 25 m below the saturation depth. Consequently, a potential danger of gas explosion is high at both lakes, and artificial degassing of the lakes should be performed as soon as possible. A system for industrial degassing of the lakes is proposed. The system, based on the self-sustained gas lift principle, consists of multiple pipes (14 cm in diameter) with different intake depths; 12 pipes for Lake Nyos (four each at 185, 195 and 205 m) and three pipes for Lake Monoun (at 70, 80 and 90 m). The stepped degassing at different depths is intended to keep the maximum stability of the lakes. The proposed degassing operation was simulated using the code for both lakes. In 5 years, approximately 50% of currently dissolved CO2 in Lake Nyos and 90% in Lake Monoun will be removed. The expected changes in the thermal and chemical structures of the lakes as degassing proceeds will be most easily monitored with a carefully calibrated CTD equipped with a pH sensor. The simulation indicates that the discharged degassed water will sink to a level of neutral buoyancy, i.e. to a maximum of 70 m at Lake Nyos and 35 m at Lake Monoun. There would be no possibility of triggering a gas explosion by this plunge of discharged water because the water present there would have already been replaced by water at lower CO2 concentration, during the degassing from shallower pipes.  相似文献
