We investigate a possibility that non-thermal X-ray emission in a supernova remnant(SNR) is produced by jitter radiation, which is the analogue of synchrotron radiation in small-scale random magnetic fields. We can fit the multi-wavelength data of SNRs RX J1713.7-3946 (G347.3-0.5) and RX J0852.0-4622 (G266.6-1.2) by constructing pure jitter and inverse Compton (IC) emission models. We find that the physical fit parameters of random magnetic fields take values of several tens of μG strength and of the order of ∼107 cm correlation length. These properties of random magnetic fields in collisionless shock of SNRs are discussed.   相似文献

Anorthositic series apatites of the Duluth Complex, Minnesota, USA, have high spontaneous fission‐track densities of up to ~107 cm–2 and a homogeneous age of ~900 Ma, allowing high‐precision fission‐track dating based on LA–ICP–MS U analysis. Absolute fission‐track dating, track‐length measurement and chemical composition analysis were performed to evaluate a cooling history, which is essential for age reference materials. Preliminary inverse modelling for a sample with a shortened track‐length distribution yielded a monotonic cooling history from ~100°C at 925 Ma. The apatites incur an over‐etching problem when employing the commonly used etching protocol involving 5.5 M HNO3.  相似文献

Quantification of spatially and temporally resolved water flows and water storage variations for all land areas of the globe is required to assess water resources, water scarcity and flood hazards, and to understand the Earth system. This quantification is done with the help of global hydrological models (GHMs). What are the challenges and prospects in the development and application of GHMs? Seven important challenges are presented. (1) Data scarcity makes quantification of human water use difficult even though significant progress has been achieved in the last decade. (2) Uncertainty of meteorological input data strongly affects model outputs. (3) The reaction of vegetation to changing climate and CO2 concentrations is uncertain and not taken into account in most GHMs that serve to estimate climate change impacts. (4) Reasons for discrepant responses of GHMs to changing climate have yet to be identified. (5) More accurate estimates of monthly time series of water availability and use are needed to provide good indicators of water scarcity. (6) Integration of gradient-based groundwater modelling into GHMs is necessary for a better simulation of groundwater–surface water interactions and capillary rise. (7) Detection and attribution of human interference with freshwater systems by using GHMs are constrained by data of insufficient quality but also GHM uncertainty itself. Regarding prospects for progress, we propose to decrease the uncertainty of GHM output by making better use of in situ and remotely sensed observations of output variables such as river discharge or total water storage variations by multi-criteria validation, calibration or data assimilation. Finally, we present an initiative that works towards the vision of hyperresolution global hydrological modelling where GHM outputs would be provided at a 1-km resolution with reasonable accuracy.  相似文献

As the classical linear theory of secular perturbations for asteroids is known not to be adequate for computing the perturbations of asteroids with high eccentricities and/or inclinations, a seminumerical method to calculate the secular perturbations by including higher-degree terms in the disturbing function has been developed. It is here applied to asteroids with small values of (1 ? e2)12cos i, since the secular variations as well as their deviations from the results derived by the classical linear theory are generally large for such asteroids. It is found that the arguments of perihelion for five of the numbered asteroids are librating around 90 or 270°. For asteroids with (1 ? e2)12cos i less than 0.85 the results of the secular variations are tabulated. Also the stability of such orbits is discussed by comparing the orbital properties of short-periodic comets with them. Generally speaking, orbits of the asteroids are more stable than those of the short-periodic comets, and asteroids with librating arguments of perihelion are more stable than those with circular coplanar orbits although their orbital elements are changed more by secular perturbations.  相似文献

The Active Variable Stiffness (AVS) system is proposed as a seismic response control system. It actively controls structural characteristics, such as stiffness of a building, to establish a non-resonant state against earthquake excitations, thus suppressing the building's response. It consumes a relatively small amount of energy and maintains the safety of the building in moderate to severe earthquakes. In order to accumulate practical data and investigate them, a building has been constructed as a trial. This paper describes the applied system, the control algorithm, verification of stiffness selection, results of tests for verifying system characteristics, some observed earthquake records and simulation analyses. Responses in controlled and uncontrolled states have been compared to show the effectiveness of the proposed system.  相似文献

The abundance and morphology of microdiamond in dolomite marble from Kumdy‐kol in the Kokchetav Massif, are unusual; a previous study estimated the maximum content of diamonds in dolomite marble to be about 2700 carat ton?1. Microdiamond is included primarily in garnet, and occasionally in diopside and phlogopite pseudomorphs after garnet. They are classified into three types on the basis of their morphology: (1) S‐type: star‐shaped diamond consisting of translucent cores and transparent subhedral to euhedral very fine‐grained outer parts; (2) R‐type: translucent crystals with rugged surfaces; and (3) T‐type: transparent, very fine‐grained crystals. The S‐type is the most abundant. Micro‐Laue diffraction using a 1.6‐µm X‐ray beam‐size demonstrated that the cores of the star‐shaped microdiamond represent single crystals. In contrast, the most fine‐grained outer parts usually have different orientations compared to the core. Laser–Raman studies indicate that the FWHM (Full Width at Half Maximum) of the Raman band of the core of the S‐type diamond is slightly larger than that for the outer parts. Differences in morphology, crystal orientations, and in the FWHM of the Raman band between the core and the fine‐grained outer‐parts of S‐type microdiamond suggest that the star‐shaped microdiamond was formed discontinuously in two distinct stages.  相似文献

— An event rate decays either exponentially in earthquake swarms, or according to the power law in aftershock sequences, suggesting different physics for these decays. In order to investigate the physics, I measured decays in the rate of acoustic emissions (AE) that occur to relax thermal stress after turning off a home cooking apparatus. Such AE are analogous to an earthquake induced by fluid intrusion because thermo-elasticity was precisely analogous to poro-elasticity. To consider what controlled the decays, different heating rates and durations were specified in several experimental runs for which the mechanical and thermal properties were identical. Temperature decayed exponentially with the same time constant. However, both a power-law decay with a p value roughly equal to two and an exponential decay were observed. To ascertain what was occurring at the AE source, the stress and frictional strength at the AE source were numerically estimated. The stress at the AE source decayed exponentially for both power-law decay and exponential decay. In power-law decay, strength was initially very low and recovered immediately and significantly. However, in exponential decay, the change in strength during the initial stage was not as large as that in power-law decay. It was demonstrated that the time constant of exponential event-rate decay was identical to that of temperature decay if strength is constant.  相似文献

Abstract   The present paper describes the newly discovered early Miocene unconformity in the northern Noto Peninsula, on the Japan Sea side, central Japan. The unconformity marks the boundary between an early Miocene non-marine to marine succession and a more extensive, late early to early middle Miocene marine succession, and contains a time gap of an order of 1 million years or less from 18 Ma or earlier to 17 Ma. The early Miocene succession likely represents an early phase of marine transgression and initial slow rifting. The overlying early to early middle Miocene succession records the climax of the opening of the Japan Sea at ca  16 Ma with widespread, rapid subsidence of the Japan Arc. The unconformity between the two transgressive successions may represent a global sealevel fall or, more likely, crustal uplifting because no upward-shallowing or regressive facies remains between the two successions. Early Miocene unconformities that are thought to be correlative with this unconformity in the northern Noto Peninsula occur in places along the Japan Sea coast of Sakhalin and Japan. They are likely to have been produced during rifting in response to upwelling of asthenospheric mantle, although more accurate age constraints are necessary to evaluate this idea.  相似文献

Kokchetav ‘lamproite’ occurs in the east end of Kokchetav massif and consists of phenocryst (mainly clinopyroxene) and matrix (mainly feldspar). The compositions of clinopyroxene, magnetite and biotite phenocryst were determined using wavelength dispersive spectrometry on a JEOL Super-probe 8900 electron microprobe for the purpose of revealing the process of magma evolution. Analyses revealed a core–rim variation, which is consistent with three stages of magmatic evolution: Mg-rich clinopyroxene cores (diopside) and biotite cores (phlogopite) crystallized in a deep magma chamber (stage I); Fe-rich clinopyroxene rim (salite) and biotite rim crystallized at low pressure in a shallow magma chamber (stage II); Magnetite phenocryst core also crystallized in a shallow magma chamber, and co-exists with Fe-rich clinopyroxene rim and biotite rim. The magnetite rims probably formed during magma eruption at the same time when groundmass crystallized (stage III). The calculated temperatures for ilmenite–magnetite pair range from 679 to 887°C, log fO2 values range from −11.1 to −14.9 log units. These values represent the latest conditions of magma as ilmenite exsolution in magnetite probably occurred during magma eruption from the shallow chamber to surface.  相似文献

Exact differential equations relating the perturbations to satellite orbital elements by the motion of the Earth's equatorial plane are derived, and they are solved to second order in precession. The system proposed in a previous paper (Kozai, 1960), in which the inclination and the argument of perigee are referred to the equator of date and the longitude of the ascending node is measured from a fixed point along a fixed plane and then along the equator of date, can still be recommended for precise studies of satellite motion even when the second-order perturbations are taken into account.  相似文献
