The tectonic transition from subduction to collision is a fundamental process during orogenesis, yet the magmatic expression of this transition and related deep geodynamic processes remain unclear. This study focuses on a newly identified volcanic belt within the Moyun–Zaduo–Sulu area of the North Qiangtang Block and presents new zircon U-Pb data that indicate that this belt formed during the Middle Triassic (247–241 Ma), a time characterized by a regional transition from subduction to collisional tectonism. The volcanic belt is located to the south of a Permian to Early Triassic arc and is dominated by high-K calc-alkaline and peraluminous rhyolites. These rhyolites have low Mg#, Nb/Ta, and δEu values, contain low contents of Sr, have high Rb/Sr and whole-rock εNd(t) values, and show positive zircon εHf(t) values, all of which suggest that they formed from magmas generated by the dehydration melting of juvenile crustal material. The migration of Middle Triassic volcanism in this region was most likely caused by rollback of the subducting Longmucuo–Shuanghu Tethyan oceanic slab. Combining our new data with previously published results of numerical modeling of subduction–collisional processes and regional data from north-central Tibet yields insights into the magmatic expressions and related deep geodynamics of the transition from oceanic subduction to continental collision. This combination of data also suggests that variations in oxygen fugacity can be used as a proxy for the discrimination of magmatism related to subduction, the transition from subduction to collision, and collisional tectonism. 相似文献
The scientific satellite SST (Space Solar Telescope) is an important research project strongly supported by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Every day, SST acquires 50 GB of data (after processing) but only 10GB can be transmitted to the ground because of limited time of satellite passage and limited channel volume. Therefore, the data must be compressed before transmission. Wavelets analysis is a new technique developed over the last 10 years, with great potential of application. We start with a brief introduction to the essential principles of wavelet analysis, and then describe the main idea of embedded zerotree wavelet coding, used for compressing the SST images. The results show that this coding is adequate for the job. 相似文献
This paper presents gas compositions and H-, O-isotope compositions of sulfide- and quartz-hosted fluid inclusions, and S-, Pb-isotope compositions of sulfide separates collected from the principal Stage 2 ores in Veins 3 and 210 of the Jinwozi lode gold deposit, eastern Tianshan Mountains of China. Fluid inclusions trapped in quartz and sphalerite are dominantly primary. H-and O-isotopic compositions of pyrite-hosted fluid inclusions indicate two major contributions to the ore-forming fluid that include the degassed magma and the meteoric-derived but rock 18O-buffered groundwater. However, H- and O-isotopic compositions of quartz-hosted fluid inclusions essentially suggest the presence of groundwater. Sulfide-hosted fluid inclusions show considerably higher abundances of gaseous species CO2, N2, H2S, etc. than quartz-hosted ones. The linear trends among inclusion gaseous species reflect the mixing tendency between the gas-rich magmatic fluid and the groundwater. The relative enrichment of gaseous species in sulfide-hosted fluid inclusions, coupled with the banded ore structure indicating alternate precipitation of quartz with sulfide minerals, suggests that the magmatic fluid has been inputted to the ore-forming fluid in pulsation. Sulfur and lead isotope compositions of pyrite and galena separates indicate an essential magma derivation for sulfur but the multiple sources for metallic materials from the mantle to the bulk crust.
1 INTRODUCTION One of the most intriguing phenomena in the late Neoproterozoic (~750 to 543 Ma) is the globa occurrence of thin carbonates that directly overlie glacial deposits in almost every continent (Kennedy 1996; Hoffman et al., 1998; Hoffman and Schrag 2002; Brasier and Shields, 2000; James et al., 2001 Jiang et al., 2003; Nogueira et al., 2003). These “cap carbonates”, commonly several to tens of meters thick, have attracted enormous interests because o their unusually negati… 相似文献
In the Raposos orogenic gold deposit, hosted by banded iron-formation (BIF) of the Archean Rio das Velhas greenstone belt, the hanging wall rocks to BIF are hydrothermally-altered ultramafic schists, whereas metamafic rocks and their hydrothermal schistose products represent the footwall. Planar and linear structures at the Raposos deposit define three ductile to brittle deformational events (D1, D2 and D3). A fourth group of structures involve spaced cleavages that are considered to be a brittle phase of D3. The orebodies constitute sulfide-bearing D1-related shear zones of BIF in association with quartz veins, and result from the sulfidation of magnetite and/or siderite. Pyrrhotite is the main sulfide mineral, followed by lesser arsenopyrite and pyrite. At level 28, the hydrothermal alteration of the mafic and ultramafic wall rocks enveloping BIF define a gross zonal pattern surrounding the ore zones. Metabasalt comprises albite, epidote, actinolite and lesser Mg/Fe–chlorite, calcite and quartz. The incipient stage includes the chlorite and chlorite-muscovite alteration zone. The least-altered ultramafic schist contains Cr-bearing Mg-chlorite, actinolite and talc, with subordinate calcite. The incipient alteration stage is subdivided into the talc–chlorite and chlorite–carbonate zone. For both mafic and ultramafic wall rocks, the carbonate–albite and carbonate–muscovite zones represent the advanced alteration stage.Rare earth and trace element analyses of metabasalt and its alteration products suggest a tholeiitic protolith for this wall rock. In the case of the ultramafic schists, the precursor may have been peridotitic komatiite. The Eu anomaly of the Raposos BIF suggests that it was formed proximal to an exhalative hydrothermal source on the ocean floor. The ore fluid composition is inferred by hydrothermal alteration reactions, indicating it to having been H2O-rich containing CO2 + Na+ and S. Since the distal alteration halos are dominated by hydrated silicate phases (mainly chlorite), with minor carbonates, fixation of H2O is indicated. The CO2 is consumed to form carbonates in the intermediate alteration stage, in halos around the chlorite-dominated zones. These characteristics suggest variations in the H2O to CO2-ratio of the sulfur-bearing, aqueous-carbonic ore fluid, which interacted at varying fluid to rock ratios with progression of the hydrothermal alteration. 相似文献
Thermal groundwater occurs in bedrock aquifers consisting of the dolomite of the Wumishan Group of the Jixianin System and
the Cambrian carbonate in the Xiaotangshan geothermal field near the northern margin of the North China Plain, China. The
hot water in the geothermal field of basin-type discharges partly in the form of the Xiaotangshan hot spring under natural
conditions. The hot water has TDS of less than 600 mg/L and is of Na·Ca-HCO3 type. The geothermal water receives recharge from precipitation in the mountain area with elevation of about 500 m above
sea level to the north of the spring. Thermal groundwater flows slowly south and southeast through a deep circulation with
a residence time of 224 years estimated with the Ra–Rn method. The Xiaotangshan hot spring dried up in the middle of the 1980s
owing to the increasing withdrawal of the hot water in the geothermal field in the past decades. The water level of the geothermal
system still falls continually at an annual average rate of about 2 m, although water temperature changes very little, indicating
that the recharge of such a geothermal system of basin-type is limited. Over-exploitation has a dramatic impact on the geothermal
system, and reduction in exploitation and reinjection are required for the sustainable usage of the hot water. 相似文献
There is a growing interest in modeling and analyzing karst phenomena in three dimensions. This paper integrates geology,
groundwater hydrology, geographic information system (GIS), database management system (DBMS), visualization and data mining
to study karst features in Huaibei, China. The 3D geo-objects retrieved from the karst area are analyzed and mapped into different
abstract levels. The spatial relationships among the objects are constructed by a dual-linker. The shapes of the 3D objects
and the topological models with attributes are stored and maintained in the DBMS. Spatial analysis was then used to integrate
the data in the DBMS and the 3D model to form a virtual reality (VR) to provide analytical functions such as distribution
analysis, correlation query, and probability assessment. The research successfully implements 3D modeling and analyses in
the karst area, and meanwhile provides an efficient tool for government policy-makers to set out restrictions on water resource
development in the area. 相似文献
Unconsolidated sand, gravel and clay deposits near Beihai and in the Leizhou Peninsula in southern China form an unconfined
aquifer, aquitard and a confined aquifer. Water and soil samples were collected from the two aquifers in the coastal Beihai
area for the determination of chemical compositions, minerals and soluble ions. Hydrogeochemical modeling of three flow paths
through the aquitard are carried out using PHREEQC to determine water–rock interactions along the flow paths. The results
indicate that the dissolution of anorthite, fluorite, halite, rhodochrosite and CO2, and precipitation of potash feldspar and kaolinite may be occurring when groundwater leaks through the aquitard from the
unconfined aquifer to the confined aquifer. Cation exchanges between Na and Ca can also happen along the flow paths. 相似文献
The Nernst partition coefficient of nickel (DNi) between Cr-spinel and silicate melt in natural systems has been investigated using mid-ocean ridge basalts (MORB) and other volcanic rocks. The Cr-spinel/olivine DNi values in volcanic rocks are between 1.2 and 0.3, indicating that the Cr-spinel/liquid DNi values vary from slightly higher to significantly lower than the olivine/liquid DNi values in natural systems. The Cr-spinel/liquid DNi values from the MORB samples vary between 6 and 11, slightly higher than those from the S-bearing experiments of Satari et al. [Satari P., Brenan J. M., Horn I. and McDonough W. F. (2002) Experimental constraints on the sulfide- and chromite-silicate melt partitioning behavior of rhenium and platinum-group elements. Economic Geology97, 385-398]. The results of the MORB samples and the experiments of Satari et al. (2002) indicate a negative correlation between the Cr-spinel/liquid DNi and the XCr values in Cr-spinels (Cr cation number on the basis of 3 total cations in the spinel structure). Variations of Cr-spinel/liquid DNi values with Cr-spinel compositions can be estimated from an empirical equation based on the results of the MORB samples and the experiments by Satari et al. (2002). The choice of Cr-spinel/liquid DNi = 10 for numerical modeling by Righter et al. [Righter K., Leeman W. P. and Hervig R. L. (2006) Partitioning of Ni, Co, and V between spinel-structured oxides and silicate melts: importance of spinel composition. Chemical Geology227, 1-25] is reasonable for basaltic systems. For picritic and komatiitic systems a lower value of ∼5 is more appropriate. 相似文献
