Branched and isoprenoidal glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraether (GDGT) membrane lipids have been widely used to reconstruct past climate and environmental change. They are not, however, widely applied to peat deposits and the controls on their distributions in peats remain unclear. Here, we present a high resolution record of branched and isoprenoid GDGT concentrations and distributions from a peat core from the Tibetan Plateau that spans the last 13 kyr, a period characterised by distinct dry and wet periods in the region. The lowest concentrations of total branched glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers (brGDGTs) occurred during a presumably dry interval in the mid-Holocene, suggesting that brGDGTs-producing bacteria are less productive under such conditions, perhaps reflecting their putative anaerobic ecology. The mean annual air temperature (MAT) estimates derived from the methylation index of brGDGTs and cyclisation ratio of brGDGTs (MBT′/CBT) are higher than present mean annual temperature in the region and closer to summer temperatures, perhaps due to seasonal production of brGDGTs. The downcore distributions of isoprenoidal and branched GDGTs are dominated by GDGT-0 and brGDGT II, respectively. The high fractional abundances of GDGT-0 in warm and especially wet intervals suggest that these conditions are favourable for some groups of methanogenic archaea. The mid-Holocene dry interval is associated with an increase in the fractional and absolute abundance of crenarchaeol, which could be indicative of enhanced ammonia-oxidising archaeal-mediated nitrogen cycling under these conditions. Taken together, variations of GDGT concentrations in peats appear to document the response of microbial processes to climate change and variations in the biogeochemical environment.  相似文献

南海礼乐盆地自渐新世以来持续发育碳酸盐岩礁体,礁体区地温场可能受到礁体与周围低温海水间水热循环的扰动.为了解礁体与周围海水间的热交换过程及其对礁体区地温场的影响,以便从位于礁体区的钻井测温数据中提取深部热信息,本文以过礁体区S-1井的地震剖面为基础,在流热耦合条件下对礁体内的水热活动进行数值模拟.结果表明,礁体与海水间存在水热交换,该水热活动对礁体区温度场有明显的扰动,使得礁体上部温度和地温梯度明显降低,进入礁体下伏地层后,地温梯度逐渐趋于正常;水热循环对礁体区地温场的影响程度与礁体的厚度和渗透率密切相关,礁体厚度越大、渗透率越高,礁体及其下伏地层温度越低;计算剖面中,2100 m厚礁体之下可能存在约400 m厚、渗透率约为3×10^-12 m^2的高渗碎屑岩层,高渗层上覆礁体平均渗透率估计介于1×10^-13~5×10^-12 m^2之间.分析表明,在受水热活动影响的礁体区,礁体下伏地层中的热流可近似代表礁体区的深部热背景,S-1钻井深部热流介于65~75 mW·m^-2之间.  相似文献

南海是存在强湍流混合的边缘海之一, 但前人对南海湍流混合的研究更多关注的是中上层, 对底层则鲜有关注。本文基于高分辨率温度传感器于2019年5月在南海东北部22个站位海底上方0.5m处持续观测4.4d的温度数据, 分析了2216~3200m深度范围内底层海水温度的时间变化特征, 并探讨了地形粗糙度和内潮对底层湍流混合的影响。分析结果表明, 南海东北部各站位底层海水的温度变化量级约为10-4~10-3℃; 温度变化趋势与正压潮变化趋势不同, 温度能谱显示多数站位在全日和半日频带区间出现谱峰, 温度变化更多地受斜压潮影响, 全日、半日内潮起主要调制作用。陆坡-深海盆过渡区及深海盆底层的湍动能耗散率量级为10-10~10-9m2∙s-3, 涡扩散系数量级为10-4~10-3m2∙s-1。观测数据未能显示底层湍流混合与地形粗糙度存在明显的相关性。底层湍流混合的空间分布与过去观测到的南海北部深海盆内潮的南北不对称性分布一致。  相似文献

南海北缘属于非火山型大陆边缘。过去的研究在洋陆转换带北部的地震剖面上曾观测到一些疑似岩席和火山体的高振幅异常体, 但对这些高振幅异常体的属性却缺乏进一步的研究。本文在南海东北部大陆坡上的两个多道地震剖面(SO1E和SOY)中也发现了一个长度超过15km、厚度约为1.2km的巨大高振幅异常体, 它为研究者提供了一个探究洋陆转换带北部是否存在岩浆活动的机会。本研究对该高振幅异常体进行了速度分析与AVO(amplitude variation with offset)分析。结果表明, 与周围岩层相比, 该高振幅异常体内部有较高的P波速度和泊松比。结合区域地质背景和异常体内部的反射特征及大小形状, 推测该高振幅异常体为火成侵入岩, 并将其进一步归类为岩盖, 揭示了中新世以后南海北部洋陆转换带北部曾发生过多期次的岩浆活动。  相似文献

Low reference inventories of the fallout radionuclide 137Cs in low latitudes may limit its present and future application for studies of soil erosion and sediment redistribution in Southeast Asia. 137Cs reference inventories and concentrations in surface materials measured in nine and five areas, respectively, across Southeast Asia are here reported and reviewed. The compiled reference inventories decrease from north to south. Three global estimates of 137Cs total fallout are also reviewed and compared to the measured data while taking into account factors that affect the fallout estimates and the reference inventory. The results are presented as a schematic regional distribution map of 137Cs reference inventories for the year 2012. A relationship between a reference inventory and topsoil concentration is also provided. The measured 137Cs concentrations suggest that a minimum detectable activity (MDA) less than 0.5 Bq/kg is required for detection of 137Cs activity in topsoils in the lowest reference inventory areas. This sensitivity should allow, at present, 137Cs to be a useful tool for analysis of soil erosion in Southeast Asia, should also be a useful chronometer, and will be a useful tracer at least where the reference inventory is more than 500–600 Bq/m2. This level of MDA has been demonstrated in previous studies to be achievable by gamma-ray spectrometry using non-destructive sample treatment. As the nuclide decays, sufficient will remain to be useful until the middle of this century in most areas in Peninsular Malaysia and southern maritime Southeast Asia, and a few decades more in the rest of the region.  相似文献

Compound-specific isotope measurements of organic compounds are increasingly important in palaeoclimate reconstruction. Searching for more accurate peat-based palaeoenvironmental proxies, compound-specific fractionation of stable C, H and O isotopes of organic compounds synthesized by Sphagnum were determined in a greenhouse study. Three Sphagnum species were grown under controlled climate conditions. Stable isotope ratios of cellulose, bulk organic matter (OM) and C21–C25 n-alkanes were measured to explore whether fractionation in Sphagnum is species-specific, as a result of either environmental conditions or genetic variation. The oxygen isotopic composition (δ18O) of cellulose was equal for all species and all treatments. The hydrogen isotopic composition (δD) of the n-alkanes displayed an unexpected variation among the species, with values between −154‰ for Sphagnum rubellum and −184‰ for Sphagnum fallax for the C23 n-alkane, irrespective of groundwater level. The stable carbon isotopic composition (δ13C) of the latter also showed a species-specific pattern. The pattern was similar for the carbon isotope fractionation of bulk OM, although the C23 n-alkane was >10‰ more depleted than the bulk OM. The variation in H fractionation may originate in the lipid biosynthesis, whereas C fractionation is also related to humidity conditions. Our findings clearly emphasize the importance of species identification in palaeoclimate studies based on stable isotopes from peat cores.  相似文献

超临界浊流影响下的周期阶坎广泛分布在南海东北部台西南盆地的西澎湖峡谷中。由于频繁的构造活动, 常年的台风影响, 以及来自中国台湾河流的大量沉积物供给, 导致这个区域的浊流活动经常发生。本文利用高分辨率的地貌资料, 对西澎湖峡谷发育的23个净侵蚀周期阶坎和10个净沉积周期阶坎进行了形态的定量分析, 并且统计了流经这些周期阶坎的浊流流速。结果显示, 浊流在流经净侵蚀周期阶坎过程中的速度有明显突变, 而在净侵蚀到净沉积周期阶坎的过程中速度也发生了明显的降低, 前者由峡谷中的坡折带导致, 后者则是由限制性环境到非限制性环境的转变造成的。此外, 净沉积周期阶坎主要分布于靠近峡谷口外的西南侧, 这是由于科氏力对浊流影响的结果。研究此区域周期阶坎的形态特征和形成机制能够帮助我们更好地理解海底地形地貌与浊流的相互关系, 对于理解峡谷中的地貌演化具有重要意义。  相似文献

对琼东南盆地陆架区晚中新世以来的断层活动性进行研究, 有助于理解南海西北部晚中新世以来的构造演化, 也对该区钻井平台的安全性评估、海洋工程勘查以及区域稳定性评价等有重要意义。研究区断层走向主要为NWW向, 多数断层在晚中新世时期停止活动。通过对断层几何形态的统计分析以及使用高分辨率断层落差图法(T-Z图示法)对断层活动性进行量化分析, 结果显示: 断层活动性在晚中新世末期(5.5Ma)发生转变; 研究区南部的断层落差值大于北部; 南部断层停止活动的时间较北部断层稍晚。这些研究成果表明, 晚中新世末期研究区断层受构造应力变化的影响, 在生长发育过程中断层活动性质发生了改变, 由逆断层转为正断层。红河断裂带对琼东南盆地的构造演化起着重要的控制作用, 文章推测研究区断层活动性变化是由红河断裂带的构造反转所导致, 因为红河断裂带在5.5Ma时发生了走滑运动的反转, 与研究区的断层活动性变化在时间和性质上相耦合。  相似文献

Sediment sources, transport and deposition in the South China Sea (SCS) are addressed based on multiple proxies of 111 surface sediment samples, including clay minerals and rare earth elements. Results reveal that sediment sources in the SCS generally contain volcanic, biogenic and terrigenous materials. Volcanic material is typically distributed west of Luzon Island (including adjacent to Huangyan Island). Carbonate biogenic materials (e.g., coral and foraminifera) develop strongly around the Nansha and Xisha Islands. Terrigenous materials mainly derive from the continent via large rivers (e.g., the Pearl, Red and Mekong Rivers) and from islands via mountainous rivers (e.g. the Gaoping River in Southwest Taiwan and Rajang River in northern Kalimantan). According to clay mineral distributions of surface sediments from the SCS, the sediment transport route is traced. It extends to the central basin and even connects with the Sulu Sea through the Mindoro Strait. Further, based on rare earth element (REE) distribution patterns of the fine-grained fraction and clay mineral assemblage of surface sediments, contributions of various sediment sources are estimated at various locations on the SCS slope.  相似文献

为了更好地认识上扬子褶皱带和中扬子褶皱带走向差异的机制,我们对中、上扬子褶皱带过渡的关键地区重庆市万州和云阳两个地区的中、晚侏罗世砂岩进行了古地磁研究.逐步热退磁分离出两个组分,低温组分(LTC)在所有样品中均分离出来,为现代地磁场的重磁化;中侏罗世样品和万州地区的晚侏罗世样品分离出来的高温组分(HTC)也为现代地磁场的重磁化.云阳地区晚侏罗世样品分离出来的高温组分通过逐步展平褶皱检验显示:在褶皱展平至33.8%时,精度参数达到最大,相应的古地磁方向为D=19.1°,I=48.9°(α95= 6.3°),古地磁极为73.5°N,198.2°E(dp=5.5°, dm=8.3°),与白垩纪参考古地磁极对比,此高温组分揭示云阳地区在褶皱变形的后期经历了7.7°±6.1°的顺时针旋转.结合前人的数据,我们认为中扬子褶皱带普遍存在弯山构造(orocline),这可能与华北板块向华南板块的挤入作用有关;但是中、上扬子褶皱带过渡地区的弧形弯曲总体上不是由弯山构造形成的,很可能是在太平洋板块向北西方向俯冲的宏观板块构造背景下的应变分异作用形成的.  相似文献
