The present paper reports the K-Ar ages determined on glauconitic samples collected from the Ukra Member of the Mesozoic Bhuj Formation in two different sections, one located on the Ghuneri-Ghaduli road near Katesar Mahadeo temple and the other at the base of the Ukra hill in the northwestern part of the Kutch Mainland area. Three glauconite samples viz., UkraKT-1, UkraKT-4 and UkraUH-3 have yielded K-Ar ages of 107.9 ± 3.4 Ma, 105.5 ± 3.3 Ma and 103.5 ± 3.4 Ma, respectively. The sample UkraKT-l treated with 0.5N HC1 and analysed in duplicate has yielded a mean age of 104 ± 2.3 Ma while the sample UkraKT-4 treated with 0.1N HCl has given an age of 106.5 ± 3.3 Ma. The ages of the treated and untreated glauconites are indistinguishable within 2σ uncertainty with a mean of 105.2 ± 1.3 Ma, which has been interpreted as the depositional age of the Ukra Member of the Mesozoic Bhuj Formation. The study has further indicated that mild acid treatment (up to 0.5N HCl) does not lead to any loss of radiogenic argon in the glauconites and can be helpful in purification of the samples.  相似文献

The Mendocino Fracture Zone, a 3,000-km-long transform fault, extends from the San Andreas Fault at Cape Mendocino, California due west into the central Pacific basin. The shallow crest of this fracture zone, known as the Mendocino Ridge, rises to within 1,100 m of the sea surface at 270 km west of the California Coast. Rounded basalt pebbles and cobbles, indicative of a beach environment, are the dominant lithology at two locations on the crest of Mendocino Ridge and a40Ar/39 Ar incremental heating age of 11.0 ± 1.0 million years was determined for one of the these cobbles. This basalt must have been erupted on the Gorda Ridge because the crust immediately to the south of the fracture zone is older than 27 Ma. This age also implies that the crest of Mendocino Ridge was at sea level and would have blocked Pacific Ocean eastern boundary currents and affected the climate of the North American continent at some time since the late Miocene. Basalts from the Mendocino Fracture Zone (MFZ) are FeTi basalts similar to those commonly found at intersections of mid-ocean ridges and fracture zones. These basalts are chemically distinct from the nearby Gorda Ridge but they could have been derived from the same mantle source as the Gorda Ridge basalts. The location of the 11 Ma basalt suggests that Mendocino Ridge was transferred from the Gorda Plate to the Pacific Plate and the southern end of Gorda Ridge was truncated by a northward jump in the transform fault of MFZ.  相似文献

The Hercynian late-orogenic granites from the Gerês massif, northern Portugal, underwent intense hydrothermal activity along tectonic structures striking N-S and NE-SW. The first hydrothermal stage is characterized by the albitization of feldspars (primary K-feldspar and plagioclase) followed by the dissolution of magmatic quartz, the chloritization of biotite, and the muscovitization of magmatic biotite and feldspars and occasionally of authigenic albite. Whole-rock geochemistry shows a decrease of SiO2, K2O and Rb and an increase of Na2O, Al2O3 and Sr amounts during the albitization. The second hydrothermal stage is characterized by a mineral assemblage consisting of secondary quartz, albite, chlorite, hematite, apatite, muscovite, epidote, sphene and carbonates, which infilled the cavities produced by the early quartz leaching.Mass balance calculations demonstrate a noticeable element mobilization during the granite alteration. The average ∑REE of the Gerês granite is nearly constant at 154 ppm, but ranges from 91 to 163 ppm in the altered rocks. A relative LREE depletion and a slight HREE enrichment associated with a negative Eu anomaly characterize the feldspathization process of Gerês granite. The average ∑REE of the Carris granite is at 159 ppm but in the altered epidote + chlorite + hematite assemblage it reaches about 201 ppm with a slight HREE increase.Two different fluids were involved in the hydrothermal alteration. A first aqueous fluid (Lw1), with a low to intermediate salinity (<10 wt.% eq. NaCl) circulated along the main structures (N-S, NE-SW and NW-SE), characterized by entrapment temperature lower than 350 °C and maximum pressure of 115 MPa followed by a later colder and more saline fluid (Lw2) under a temperature of 220 °C and a pressure of about 27 MPa.Oxygen isotope data obtained on magmatic quartz indicate δ18Oquartz of + 9.3 and + 11.0‰, pointing to an interaction of magmatic fluids with others of meteoric origin. For the secondary quartz, δ18Owater of +0.5 and +0.7‰ were calculated for a temperature of 250 °C, suggesting a meteoric fluid with a possible seawater signature.The K-Ar data of K-feldspar from the altered rocks confirm an age of 273.6 ± 11.7 Ma, attributed to the first alteration process. Younger K-Ar ages between 155.8 ± 6.7 Ma and 124 ± 5.3 Ma were also obtained in the feldspathized rocks, confirming the late hydrothermal activity.Albitization and quartz dissolution of granitic rocks from the Gerês massif occurred at depths shallower than 5 km, induced by the circulation of fluids along brittle structures, during the orogenic uplift and extensional tectonics which affected the Iberian Massif in the Early Permian. A second major event is attributed to late hydrothermal circulations of aqueous brines until a depth of about 3 km, presumably derived from interaction with sub-surface evaporites throughout Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous. These late hydrothermal events probably reflect the rifting episodes and the rising of geothermal gradient, associated with the opening of the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Biscay, respectively.  相似文献

内蒙古阿巴嘎旗北部的梅勒图组呈北东向展布,向北东延入蒙古,区域地质调查归于二连打布苏组一岩段(K2e1),经剖面测制、采样分析等综合研究,该地层应属于梅勒图组,岩性组合为安山玄武岩、玄武岩、玄武安山岩、辉石安山岩等。辉石安山岩全岩K-Ar年龄为122~136Ma,为早白垩世岩浆喷溢活动的产物。该火山岩形成于伸展构造环境,物质来源于上地幔。  相似文献

The Plio-Pleistocene volcanic rocks of the Bohemian Massif comprise a compositional spectrum involving two series: an older basanitic series (6.0–0.8 Ma) and a younger, melilititic series (1.0–0.26 Ma). The former consists of relatively undifferentiated basaltic rocks, slightly silica-undersaturated, with Mg# ranging from 62 to almost primitive mantle-type values of 74. The major and trace element characteristics correspond to those of primitive intra-plate alkaline volcanic rocks from a common sub-lithospheric mantle source (European Asthenospheric Reservoir – EAR) including positive Nb, and negative K and Pb anomalies. 87Sr/86Sr ratios of 0.7032–0.7034 and 143Nd/144Nd of 0.51285–0.51288 indicate a moderately depleted mantle source as for other mafic rocks of the central European volcanic province with signs of HIMU-like characteristics commonly attributed to recycling of subducted oceanic crust in the upper mantle during the Variscan orogeny. The melilititic series is characterized by higher degrees of silica-undersaturation, and high Mg# of 68–72 values, compatible with primitive-mantle-derived compositions. The high OIB-like Ce/Pb (19–47) and Nb/U (32–53) ratios indicate that assimilation of crustal material was negligible. In both series, concentrations of incompatible elements are mildly elevated and 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.7034–0.7036) and 143Nd/144Nd ratios (0.51285–0.51288) overlap. Variations in incompatible element concentrations and isotopic compositions in the basanitic series and melilititic series can be explained by a lower degree of mantle melting for the latter with preferential melting of enriched mantle domains. The Sr and Nd isotopic compositions of both rock series are similar to those of the EAR. Minor differences in geochemical characteristics between the two series may be attributed to: (i) to different settings with respect to crust and lithospheric mantle conditions in (a) Western Bohemia (WB) and (b) Northeastern Bohemia (NEB) and the Northern Moravia and Silesia (NMS) areas, (ii) a modally metasomatized mantle lithosphere in WB in contrast to cryptically metasomatized domains in the NEB and NMS, (iii) different degrees of partial melting with very low degrees in WB but higher degrees in NEB and NMS. The geochemical and isotopic similarity between the Plio-Pleistocene volcanic rocks and those of the late Cretaceous and Cenozoic (79–6 Ma) suggests that their magmas came from compositionally similar mantle sources, that underwent low degrees of melting over an interval of ∼80 Ma. The Oligocene to Miocene basanitic series that accompanied the Plio-Pleistoicene basanitic series in the NMS region indicate that they shared a common mantle source. There is no geochemical evidence for thermal erosion of the lithospheric mantle or significant changes in mantle compositions within the time of a weak thermal perturbation in the asthenospheric mantle. These perturbations were caused by a dispersed mantle plume or passively upwelling asthenosphere in zones of lithospheric thinning.  相似文献

应用K-Ar法对青海省都兰县五龙沟金矿主断裂带内的3个断层泥样品进行同位素测定,以确定该脆性断裂的活动时代,初步探讨该段脆性断裂与成矿之间的关系.测试得到的断层泥样品中自生伊利石的年龄为(185.54±3.06) ~(165.11 ±3.28) Ma,表明该矿床内的脆性断裂活动时代为早侏罗世晚期—中侏罗世,结合野外地质情况,推测脆性断裂的活动对成矿起到了改造和破坏的作用.  相似文献

在阿尔金断裂与祁连山北缘逆冲断裂交汇处的昌马盆地和酒西盆地内,产出一套中基性火山岩,多为玄武岩和粗面玄武岩,属于碱性玄武岩系列。火山岩富集轻稀土元素,(La/Yb)N比值为7.28~18.01,富集大离子亲石元素(K、Rb和Ba等),亏损高场强元素(Nb、Ta等),显示出与OIB类似的地球化学特征。阿尔金断裂带东端火山岩的Sr同位素较高,87Sr/86Sr值在0.706~0.708,Nd同位素较低,εNd(t)值多为负值(0.53~-6.13),显示出EMⅡ型富集地幔来源的特征。K Ar同位素年代学测试结果表明,阿尔金断裂带东端火山岩形成于(120.1±2.5)~(102.2±2.9) Ma,属于早白垩世晚期。火山岩的地球化学特征反映其形成于一个广泛的陆内伸展环境中,区域上可能受到阿尔金断裂带的影响,是阿尔金断裂白垩纪再活化的重要佐证。  相似文献

运用油气组成非均质性,以大民屯凹陷丰富详实的分析测试资料为基础,"反演"了两大油气系统的油气主运聚方向.结果表明,大民屯凹陷油气总体组成非均质性、分子构成非均质性以及含氮化合物分布三方面的运移示踪效应基本一致,可以相互印证."反演"结果表明,正常油和高蜡油都是围绕各自生油洼陷中心向周围构造高部位的斜坡带运移,在有利的圈闭中成藏.沿着该运移路径上如果有合适的圈闭条件就会聚集成藏,这为下一步勘探目标预测提供了依据.流体定年技术分析结果表明,大民屯凹陷主成藏时期为沙一、二到东营早期.安福屯洼陷成藏稍早于荣胜堡洼陷,因而高蜡油成藏略早于正常油.  相似文献
