The spectral variability of Triton from 1997-2000

We present the results of a three-year observational program of long-slit spectroscopy and UBVRI photometry of Triton. We find evidence for short-lived albedo variations at wavelengths less than 0.5 μm with the most notable reddening event measured in October 1997 and “normal” colors returning by May 1998. We report a possible variation in the relative 0.73/0.89 μm methane absorption band strengths, suggesting that the transport or denudation of this species may play a major role in the reddening events.  相似文献

Rhombic cell analysis as outlined in the first paper of the present seriesis applied to samples of varying depths and liming luminosities of the IRAS/PSCzCatalogue. Numerical indices are introduced to summarize essential information.Because of the discrete nature of the analysis and of the space distribution of galax-ies, the indices for a given sample must be regarded as each having an irreduciblescatter. Despite the scatter, the mean indices show remarkable variations acrossthe samples. The underlying factor for the variations is shown to be the limitingluminosity rather than the sampling depth. As samples of more and more luminousgalaxies are considered over a range of some 2.5 magnitudes (a factor of some 75in space density), the morphology of the filled and empty regions defined by thegalaxies degrades steadily towards insignificance, and the degrading is faster for thefilled than the empty region.  相似文献   

Survival,growth and shell deformities of copper- and cadmium-exposed mussels (Mytilus edulis L.) in brackish water

Mussels, Mytilus edulis L., were exposed to elevated concentrations of copper or cadmium in the laboratory, then placed in cages in the sea (salinity 7‰). One year later maximum lengths of the mussels were measured and shells screened for deformities. Growth was 0·6 cm year^?1 in the control cages and retarded in cages of exposed mussels. A total of 63% of cadmium-exposed and 46% of copper-exposed mussels had shell deformities. In the control cages 26% were deformed while in a natural population only 3% were deformed. The proportion of deformities to growth was inversely related. Low concentrations showed their injuriousness in this long-term test, probably due to the closing of the valves during exposure to high concentrations.  相似文献   

Factors affecting the distribution and abundance of Macrobrachium petersi (Hilgendorf) in the Keiskamma River and estuary,South Africa

A dry (1979–1980) and a wet (1980–1981) season had a marked effect on the freshwater inflow into the Keiskamma estuary. Under low inflow conditions, which results in elevated salinities in the upper reaches, an upstream migration of adult Macrobrachium petersi (Hilgendorf) to freshwater takes place. During periods of increased river inflow adult M. petersi move downstream to the more saline reaches of the estuary. These two migratory responses have been interpreted as (a) a breeding migration under high inflow conditions which ensures that larvae are in close proximity to salinities that favour growth and development, and (b) an adult upstream migration back to freshwater to escape elevated estuarine salinities as a result of the low freshwater inflow.  相似文献

本矿床是我国金红石矿床重要的成因及工业类型，为具有特定化学成分的岩石在特定变质条件下形成的。本文通过对大量数据的处理，查明了化学成分与成矿的关系：高Ａｌ２Ｏ３、ＭｇＯ、Ｆｅ２Ｏ３＋ＦｅＯ、Ｋ２Ｏ、Ｐ２Ｏ５、Ｈ２Ｏ＋、ＭｎＯ，低ＳｉＯ２、ＣａＯ、Ｎａ２Ｏ、ＣＯ２、Ｓ等，利于钛富集；高ＴｉＯ２、ＭｇＯ、Ｐ２Ｏ５、Ｓ，低ＳｉＯ２、ＣａＯ、Ｋ２Ｏ、Ａｌ２Ｏ３、Ｆｅ２Ｏ３／ＦｅＯ，利于金红石形成；高Ｓｃ、Ｚｒ、Ｎｉ、Ｚｎ及Ｌａ／Ｙｂ，低Ｙ、Ｎｂ、Ｔｈ、Ｃｄ、Ｂａ、Ｂｅ、ΣＲＥＥ，利于金红石纯度提高。对研究矿床成因及寻找新的同类矿床等有重要意义  相似文献

通过杂质对导电类型的影响的研究,得出了同种矿物的不同导电类型与矿物形成温度的规律:电子型(n型)导电矿物的形成温度大于电子与空穴混合型导电矿物的形成温度,又大于空穴型(p型)导电矿物的形成温度,绝缘体矿物的形成温度低于上述三种导电类型矿物。应用矿物热电图谱仪,天然金刚石半导体测试仪对闪锌矿、黄铁矿、金刚石等矿物的导电类型进行了测试,并探讨了导电类型成因,证实了上述规律的正确性。  相似文献
