Among several lithostratigraphic subdivisions of the Gaj Formation of Miocene age, the Jhill limestone is entirely different with respect to its colour, texture and structures. This limestone unit has been evaluated to elaborate its geochemical and sedimentological characteristics. The distribution of various elements in the acid-soluble fraction has been studied in order to determine their mineralogy, sedimentary environment, facies and diagenesis. Mineralogy, recrystallization and other diagenetic changes are the main factors affecting the distribution of trace elements and their mutual relationships in the limestones. Samples of the Jhill limestone show depletion in large-sized ions (Sr, Pb & K) and also in the ions that are not compatible with calcite space group. Elements (Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu & Co) having distribution coefficient (D) above unity for natural calcites, are more enriched. Microscopic and X-ray studies revealed nearly complete conversion of aragonite into stable low-Mg calcite. An attempt has also been made to verify the reefal conditions for these limestones on the basis of geochemical studies. The plots of Sr and other facies-indicator elements show that the majority of the beds belong to forereef flank facies with some algal banks. Low Mg/Ca and Sr/Ca ratios suggest that a phreatic diagenetic environment prevailed after the deposition. High concentrations of Cr, Ni, and Co in the Jhill limestone show a positive correlation with a higher amount of insoluble residue, which reflects a relatively high rate of influx of terrigenous material.  相似文献

In the process of combustion of coal organic and inorganic materials in it will undergo a complex variation.Part of thew will become volatiles and,together with coal smoke,enter into atmosphere,some will remain in micro-particulates such as ash and dust and find their way into atmosphere in the form of solid particles,and the rest will be retained in ash and slag.Coal ashes are the residues of organic and inorganic substances in coal left after coal combustion and the compostition of coal ashes in dependent on that of minerals and organic matter in coal.This paper deals with the chemical composition of coal ashes,the distribution of trace elements in them and their petrological characteristics,and also studies the relationship between the yield of coal ashes and the distribution of trace elements.In addition,a preliminary study in also undertaken on the factors that affect the chemical composition of coal ashes.As viewed from the analyses of coal ash samples collected from the Yanzhou mining district,it can be seen clearly that coal ashes from the region studied are composed chiefly of crystalline materials,glassy materials and uncombusted organic matter and the major chemical compositions are SiO2,Al2O3,Fe2O3,and CaO,as well as minor amounts of SO3,PWO5,Na2O,K2O and TiO2.During the combustion of coal,its trace elements will be redistributed and most of them are enriched in coal ashes.At the same time,the concentrations of the trace elements in flying ash are much higher than those of bottom ash,i.e.,with decreasing particle-size of coal ashes their concentrations will become higher and higher.So the contents of trace elements are negatively proportional to the particle-size of coal ashes.There has been found a positive correlation between the trace elements Th.V.Zn,Cu and Pb and the yield of coal ashes while a negative correlation between Cl and the yield of coal ashes.  相似文献

In this study a mathematical expression of trace element abundance relationship for the mul-ti-stage comagmatic fractional crystallization has been established ,based on geochemical studies of the Emeishan basalt-trachyte series and adjacent mafic-ultramafic layered intrusions, as well as on the avail-able data for basalt, andesite, dacite and rhyolite series in southern Andes,Chile ,which have been well documented.It is demonstrated that the abundance constant (R) for a given trace element at dif-ferent stages of fractional crystallization of a parental magma is highly variable,which can be used as a criterion to divide fractional crystallization stages.  相似文献

Based on the sedimentary geochemical studies of the Antarctic Ocean and the various geochemical parameters available,this paper deals with the process of emobilization of iodine in marine sediments during early diagenesis.The results showed that the process is not always controlled completely by organic matter as was expected previously.On average the adsorption and oxide phases of iodine account respectively for 23% and 32% of the total in continental-shelf and hemipelagic surficial sediments.Chemical analysis has revealed that the upward diffusion flux and redox conditions would play an important role in the concentration of iodine in the surface sediments.And the species of iodine in the surfial sediments characteristic of high I/Corg ratios would bepredominated by the oxide and adsorption phases.As experimentally evidenced,it is the early diagenetic remoibilization of iodine associated with the oxide and adsorption phases that led to the decrease of I/Corg with increasing depth.Calculations suggested that the diffusion flux of iodine from the deep parts of te sedimentary columum upwards is on the same order of magnitude as the deposition flux of it from sea water.This may be one of the important factors leading to the depletion of iodine in sedimentary rocks.On the basis of the above discussion and calculations the author has proposed a model for the remobilization of iodine in marine sediments during early diagenesis.  相似文献

Granitoids are widely spread in the Nanling Region of China.Four rockbodies in the region the been studied for their REE,Rb,Sr,Ba and Sc distributions.The four rockbodies occurred in different locations and are characterized as being different in age and type.The rock types are presented as follows:Qinghu monzonite,Guangxi;Fuxi granodiorite,Guangdong;Jiufeng monzonitic granite,Hunan;Zudong K-feldspar granite,Jiangxi.From the major and trace element distributions in these granitoids it is clearly shown that Rb/Sr ratios in the rocks tend to increase with increasing SiO2 content and differentiation index(DI),but LREE/HREE,La/Yb and K/Rb ratios tend to decrease,suggesting a correlation between trace element distribution and major element composition for the granitoids.The distribution characteristics of trace elements in each of the rockbodies are described in detail.From the comparative analysis of the Qinghu monzonite and Fuxi granodiorite it is evidenced that the REE distribution is closely related to the sequence of crystallization for the minerals,and also to the petrochemical types of these granitoids in addition to their crystal chemistry.  相似文献

Instrumental neutron activation analysis(INAA) of 14 single oldhamite grains separated from the Qingzhen chondrite (EH3) for refractory(La,Ce,Sm ,Eu,Yb,Lu,Ca,Sc,Hf, and Th),volatile (Na,Cr,Zn,Se,Br,etc.)and siderophile elements (Fe,Ni,Co,Ir,Au ,and As) revealed that oldhamite is highly rich in refractory elements.The mineral serves as the principal carrier of REE and contains about 80% of the REEs in the Qingzhen enstatite chondrite .Furthermore, the large enrichment of LREE relative to HREE is noticed in oldhamite from the Qingzhen .In general, the oldhamite from metal-sulfide assemblages is richer in REE than that from the matrix,i.e.,the earlier the oldhamite grains condensed, the richer they are in REE. Meanwhile.oldhamite is also rich in vol-atile elements such as Se,Br, etc.In terms of the distribution of trace elements in oldhamitc from the Qingzhen ,the chondrite is srggested to have resulted from high-temperature condensation of solar nebula.  相似文献

Presented in this paper are the trace element abundances of 16 samples of Hannuoba ultramafic inclusion-bearing aldali basalts,which were determined by instrumental neutron activation analysis and X-ray fluorescence spectrometry.The Petrogenesis of the alkali basalt suite has been modeled by batch partial melting and and Rayleigh fractional crystallization processes,The geochemical characteristics of the mantle source from where alkali basalts were derived are described in terms of variations in trace element abundances of the alkali basalt suite.  相似文献

Trace elements in cassiterite,including Ta,W,Fe,Mn,Ti,Zr,V,Sc,Si,Al,In,Ga,Ge,Be,Bi,Ag,Sb,As,Cu,Pb,Zn,Co and REE,have been studied by many workers (Shan Zhenhua etal.,1998;Huang Zhou Tianren et al.,1987;Wu Qingsheng et al.,1988;Hu Zening,1988,Li Zhong-qing 1988 Mingzhei et al.,1988;Wang Lihua et al.,1988;Liu Kanghuai,1990).Up to now,however,most of the previous studies are concerned with trace-element variations in cassiterites of different occurrences and colors from different types of ore deposits,Data concerning the modes of occurrence of these trace elements are rare,except for the contention that Nb-Ta,Fe^2 -Mn-Fe^3 and W-Fe^3 may substitute isomorphously for Sn as pointed out by Zhou Tianren et al.(1987) and Moller et al.(1988).In this paper we are concerned with the compositional characteristics as well as the modes of occurrence of trace elements in cassiterites from quartz veins and greisens in the Dupangling tin field,Guangxi,based on multivariate statistical analyses.Tin mineralization in the Dupangling area is found associated with the medium-to fine-grained protolithionite-albite granite(γ5^2b) and its outer contacts.Cassiterite occurs,with wolframite,both in quartz veins in the contact and in greisens within the granite.^1) Spatially,greisens become dominant over quartz veins in the contact andin greisens with the granite.^1)Spatialy,gresens become dominant over quartz veins in going from the contact to the interior of the granite and with increasing depth.The greisens are of various shapes.The vein-shaped and the sheet-shaped greisens at the top of the granie are rich in quartz and the chambered greiens always constitute rich ores and contain abundant topaz or mica.Genetically,Sn,W mineralizations associated with the protolithionite-albite granite(γ5^2b) are considered to have been formed from fluid melt derived from the ore-forming magma responsible for the granite(γ5^2b).  相似文献

It is suggested in this paper that the famous Taylor‘s model for the composition and evolution of the continental crust consists of three closely related key links.These links include an assumption that the surfical environment has no effect on the sedimentary REE patterns and the REE patterns in sdhales can reflect the composition of their provenance,a discovery about the discrepancy of sedimentary REE patterns between Archean and Proteroxoic,and a deduction that there was a global scale K-granitoid event at the end of the Archean.Based on a detailed discussion,this paper substantially negates the rationality of the Taylor‘s model and argues that its three critical links be three great errors indeed.Moreover,some other deficiencies or problems it confronts are described in this paper.The authors suggest that what led to the errors invoved in the Taylor‘s model is its wrongly neglecting the effect of the sedimentary envronment on the chemical composition of sediments.and that the environment should be an important factor affecting the distribution patterns of trace elements in the sediments.  相似文献

The Phanerozoic granitoid rocks include the Caledonian,Indosinian and Yenshanian granitoid rocks.The existence of Caledonian and Indosinian granites was evidenced by zircon U-Pb ages,The study of the characteristics of major,trace and rare-earth elements,isotopic composition and petrogenesis for the granitoid rocks has been made,The Caledonian and Indosinian granites were derived from partial melting of the Proterozoic basement rocks and the two tectonic activities were weak,The Yenshanian grantoid rocks were derived from mixing of mantle and crustal materials,It implies that the crustal accretion took place in Mesozoic time.  相似文献
