A new method is presented for efficient calculation of auto- and cross-spectral densities in the stochastic modelling of ocean waves and wave loads. As part of the short-term response analyses, the method may contribute to more efficient long-term response prediction. Specifically the cross-spectral densities of the first order wave excitation forces are considered, but the method is straightforwardly generalized to other cross-spectral densities, e.g. for wave elevation, wave kinematics or second order loads. The method can be used with any choice of directional spreading function, but special attention is given to the commonly used cos-2s type directional distribution. In addition to the development of the new method, the traditional method using the trapezoidal rule for numerical quadrature is improved by developing an adaptive way of choosing the number of integration points. The accuracy of the adaptive method and the new method is investigated, revealing rapid convergence for both methods. However, the new method appears more robust as it avoids so-called spurious hat errors. When applied to two different pontoon type floating bridges the adaptive method and the new method both achieve a great improvement in computational effort compared to the traditional trapezoidal rule method. When the dimensions of the floating bridge increase, i.e. the number of pontoons and their relative distances increase, the new method is superior with respect to computation time.  相似文献

Inclined piles are prohibited by many codes in seismic areas. Nevertheless the battered effect has not yet been clarified because very few data are available. The present work is a comparison, at reduced scale in the centrifuge, of the response of two simplified pile groups: a 1 × 2 vertical piles and 1 × 2 pile group with one inclined pile. Two configurations are considered: end-bearing and floating pile group, both with pile heads rigidly fixed with a massive cap. First, repeatability tests under horizontal cyclic loading were performed on both floating pile groups. Secondly, repeated horizontal impact tests were performed on both end-bearing pile groups. These impact tests, which highlight the influence of inclined piles on the inertial response of a group, are a first step for the more complex analysis of the performance of such groups under seismic loads where inertial and kinematic interactions are combined. The first part of this work revealed the influence of sand structure around the inclined pile tip on the repeatability of the tests performed on floating pile groups. The second part highlighted differences in the dynamic response between the two end-bearing pile groups through measurements of the pile cap acceleration, the bending moment profile and the axial load in the piles.  相似文献

This paper describes a methodology developed for the preliminary design of floating production platforms. The preliminary design approach interlinks the mathematical design model with global optimization techniques. To illustrate the design procedure, the initial intermediate and final results are presented. They provide a clear understanding of the mathematical model and the decision support system. The preliminary design approach described here is based on the commercial software which is interfaced to what is called the FPS system and linked to a SEARCH package for design solutions. The paper summarizes the preliminary design approach, the mathematical model optimization and presents semisubmersible and TLP platform examples.  相似文献

In this work, the problem of optimizing the shape of a thin floating plate (sometimes called a dock) to maximize radiation damping is investigated. The plate is modeled with zero draft and floats on the surface of an irrotational, incompressible ocean of infinite extent. For simplicity, only rigid heave motions are considered. The flow problem is analyzed using the Chen and Mei variational principle wherein the potential field inside a hemisphere surrounding the plate is represented using a spherical harmonic expansion and matched on the hemisphere to an outer field described by distributing sources on the hemisphere. The plate shape is parameterized using a Fourier series which is suitable for use with the variational principle. Gradients of the damping coefficient with respect to the shape parameters are developed by solving an adjoint flow problem whose potential is shown to be a scalar multiple of the original flow potential. Optimal plate shapes are determined using the well-known optimization code NPSOL which makes use of the damping coefficient calculation and gradients.  相似文献

The motions and time-mean horizontal drift forces of floating backward-bent duct buoy wave energy absorbers in regular waves are calculated taking account of the oscillating surface-pressure due to the pressure drop in the air chamber above the oscillating water column within the scope of the linear wave theory. The present numerical results show that the time-mean drift forces of backward-bent duct buoys are in the reverse direction of propagation of the incident waves over specific frequency ranges as found by McCormick through his experimental work. The drift force has been calculated by the near-field method. A brief discussion on Maruo’s formula which shows that the time-mean drift force must be in the direction of propagation of the incident waves, has also been presented.  相似文献

The radiation and diffraction problems are considered in the frequency domain for a thin elastic plate of rectangular planform floating in an irrotational, incompressible ocean of infinite depth. The inner potential field inside a hemisphere surrounding the plate is represented using a spherical harmonic expansion which suits the geometry and zero-draft nature of the plate. Problems associated with distributing sources in the free surface are avoided. The Chen and Mei variational principle is used to weakly match this inner solution and its normal derivative to an outer field described by distributing sources on the exterior of the hemisphere. The validity of the procedure is first illustrated by considering a heaving circular disk. Numerous hydrodynamic coefficients are presented as benchmark data for floating flexible structures. The transient motion of the plate is simulated using rational approximations (in the frequency domain) to the radiation impedance and diffraction mapping which are implemented as ODE's in the time domain.  相似文献

The movement of floating pollutants such as oil slicks on the surface of the sea is due to a number different factors, among which wave drift is certainly significant.In principle, it has been known since Stokes' time that a floating particle is subject to the movement caused by the orbital motion of water particles and that an average drift velocity results because the trajectories are not closed. In the past, however, this effect was often either disregarded or simply included with the surface wind induced current. In recent times the difference between the two effects has been conceptually clarified, so that the average wave drift in random one-dimensional seas has been the object of research and the results are now included in most handbooks and models for oil slick forecasting.Due to the chaotic nature of the wave field, however, the drift also causes floating substances to disperse, and this phenomenon is a much more neglected area of research. Recent work by Bovolin et al. [IAHR Congress, 1997] and Sobey and Barker [J. Coast. Res. 13 (1997)] has brought the subject to attention, and computational tools can now be made to quantify the effect and to verify when and how it should be taken into consideration in oil slick accident practise.The work presented in this paper is based on random simulation of the wave induced Eulerian velocity field in a directional sea, by making use of standard offshore wave directional models and on the ensemble averaging of floating particles trajectories in order to compute the spatial dispersion.  相似文献

As the capability of polar plots becomes better understood, improved dynamic positioning (DP) systems are possible as the control algorithms greatly depend on the accuracy of the aerodynamic and hydrodynamic models. The measurements and estimation of the environmental disturbances have an important role in the optimal design and selection of a DP system for offshore platforms. The main objective of this work is to present a new method of predicting the Capability-Polar-Plots for offshore platforms using the combination of the artificial neural networks (NNs) and the capability polar plots program (CPPP). The estimated results from a case study for a scientific drilling vessel are presented. A trained artificial NN is designed in this work and is able to predict the maximum wind speed at which the DP thrusters are able to maintain the offshore platform in a station-keeping mode in the field site. This prediction for the maximum wind speed will be a helpful tool for DP operators in managing station-keeping for offshore platforms in an emergency situation where the automation of the DP systems is disabled. It is obvious from the obtained results that the developed technique has potential for the estimation of the capability-polar-plots for offshore platforms. This tool would be suitable for DP operators to predict the maximum wind speed and direction in a very short period of time.  相似文献

This paper deals with the hydrodynamic analysis of an array of Oscillating Water Column (OWC) devices, made up of coaxial cylinders, which are floating either independently or as a unit forming a floating platform. The platform is considered either free – floating or as TLP configuration connected to the sea bottom. Numerical results concerning the three boundary value problems, namely, the diffraction, the motion – and the pressure – dependent radiation ones are given. They have been obtained through an analytical solution method using matched axisymmetric eigenfunction expansion formulations. In all cases the interaction phenomena with neighbouring bodies have been taken properly into account using the physical idea of multiple scattering. Numerical results for the first – and the mean second – order wave forces, the hydrodynamic interaction coefficients along with pressure hydrodynamic parameters, inner air pressure and free–surface oscillation amplitude inside and outside of each device are parametrically evaluated and supplemented by experimental data.  相似文献
