Arcellinida (testate lobose amoebae) were examined from 22 surface-sediment samples collected from homogenous environments in eastern Canadian lakes (Lac du Castor Blanc, SW Quebec; Oromocto Lake, SW New Brunswick) to: 1) evaluate the faunal consistency of assemblages within the targeted environments; and, 2) assess the Arcellinida assemblage response evident in samples collected from Oromocto Lake in 2010 CE (n = 10) and 2012 CE (n = 6) to inter-annual changes in environmental conditions. Cluster analysis and detrended correspondence analysis (DCA), redundancy analysis (RDA), and Bray-Curtis Dissimilarity Matrix (BCDM) were used to identify the dominant arcellinidan assemblages, determine physicochemical controls over the Arcellinida distribution, and assess the assemblages’ faunal homogeneity, respectively. Cluster analysis, DCA, and BCDM results revealed two distinct and relatively homogenous arcellinidan assemblages: 1) Lac du Castor Blanc Assemblage; and 2) Oromocto Lake Assemblage, which could further be subdivided into Oromocto Lake 2010 CE (OL10), and 2012 CE (OL12) sub-assemblages. RDA results showed that 65.6% of the variance in the arcellinidan distribution could be attributed to four significant parameters; sand size fraction (32.1%), calcium (29.2%), manganese (2.7%), and organic content (1.5%). The OL10 and OL12 sub-assemblages aligned well with the respective sample collection dates of 2010 CE and 2012 CE, with proportions of the healthy-lake-indicating Diffluggiid taxa being higher in OL12, likely due to a concurrent slight increase in substrate organic content in the 2012 CE sediments. Our results confirm the faunal homogeneity of assemblages in limnologically similar environments, and demonstrate the rapid response of Arcellinida assemblages to changes in lake conditions at inter-annual time scales.  相似文献

Dixidae (Insecta, Diptera) are an interesting ecological component in freshwater ecosystems. They are merolimnic insects with larvae and pupae living in aquatic habitats while adults live in terrestrial habitats in close proximity to water. The goals of this study were to determine the phenology patterns of Dixidae and what influences them, to analyse their preference for microhabitats, and to determine the main ecological factors that have an influence on the composition of Dixidae. Adult Dixidae were collected monthly in the period from 2007 to 2008 at 10 sites, from 2009 to 2010 at four sites, and from 2011 to 2014 at three sites in the Plitvice Lakes National Park. Adult specimens were collected using pyramid-type emergence traps. A total of 1271 Dixidae were collected during eight years of study belonging to five species of the genus Dixa. Dixa submaculata was most abundant species at the spring and upper reach of Bijela rijeka Stream and the upper reach of Crna rijeka Stream. Dixa nebulosa was most numerous at the Kozjak-Milanovac tufa barrier site. Dixa puberula was the dominant species at the rest of the sites. Dixa puberula and Dixa submaculata were univoltine, bivoltine or trivoltine, depending on the site, while Dixa nebulosa was only univoltine. The highest diversity was recorded at the tufa barrier Kozjak-Milanovac, and the highest number of species, four species, was found at the upper reach of the Crna rijeka Stream. The greatest number of specimens was recorded at the Labudovac tufa barrier, 128 specimens in 2014. Water temperature is the main ecological factor that influences the phenology of Dixidae at the tufa barriers and lower streams. Discharge affected the abundance of Dixidae. Dixa puberula prefers moss as a substrate and a faster water velocity.  相似文献

湖、库水体是重要的N2O排放源,在全球氮素循环及全球气候变化中具有重要作用.本文综述了目前有关湖、库水体N2O排放研究进展,重点介绍湖、库水体N2O产生和排放的过程、不同时空尺度的排放特征、N2O排放的影响因子框架及监测方法.湖、库水体N2O不仅源于内部微生物硝化作用、反硝化作用、硝化-反硝化耦合作用、脱氮作用以及极少数底栖无脊椎动物代谢过程,同时流域上游河流汇入、地表径流输入、污水排放以及地下水排泄等构成湖、库水体N2O的重要外源,但目前对内源/外源的相对贡献的定量化研究不足;湖、库水体N2O排放方式包括扩散、植物传输及少量气泡排放,对水库而言,大坝下游水电涡轮机形成的脱气作用可能是N2O排放的潜在途径.对文献综合分析表明,湖、库水体N2O排放通常呈现明显的季节变化(夏季>冬季)和日变化,同时在全球(一般低纬度>高纬度)、区域及水体内部等不同尺度上表现出显著的空间变异性;这种时空变异特征主要受到湖、库自身理化因子(温度、营养盐、溶解氧、C/N、水文)、生物因子(水生植物、藻华)以及陆域人类活动(污水排放、农业活动以及城市化等)的影响;湖、库N2O排放不同监测方法的差异也是潜在的影响因素,传统的漂浮箱法和薄边界层法均可能低估水体N2O排放通量,未来需将传统的监测方法与新型的涡度相关法相结合,减小监测方法的不确定性.结合当前湖、库水体N2O排放的研究不足,建议未来可以从湖、库N2O产生的微生物机制,区域尺度上人类活动与湖、库群N2O排放的耦合关系,水陆交错带的产、排过程,变化环境下的湖、库N2O排放以及监测方法等方面深入研究.  相似文献

为研究广州市湖泊水体中的防腐剂及其毒性,在广州市选择15个湖泊采集水样,采用液液萃取-气质联用法对湖泊水体中的对羟基苯甲酸甲酯、对羟基苯甲酸乙酯等5种防腐剂进行浓度检测和毒性分析.结果表明:广州市区内15个湖泊水体中均检出防腐剂,但其浓度略低于国外天然水体中的浓度,溶解相的防腐剂平均浓度为5.06 ng/L,颗粒相的平均浓度为0.78 ng/L;广州市区的湖泊水体中溶解相浓度最高的防腐剂为对羟基苯甲酸丁酯,占总量的30.45%,对羟基苯甲酸苯甲酯所占比例最小,占6.71%;以防腐剂对发光细菌光强的抑制强弱来表征其毒性的大小,对羟基苯甲酸苯甲酯的毒性最强,对广州市湖泊水体环境的影响最大.  相似文献

为探究典型精神类药物及其代谢产物在高宝邵伯湖——宝应湖、高邮湖和邵伯湖表层水体的污染水平、分布特征及生态风险,利用超高效液相色谱-串联质谱法,对研究区域18个采样点位表层水体中3类(抗抑郁药物、抗癫痫药物和抗精神病药物)21种精神类药物及其代谢产物的浓度水平进行检测分析.结果表明,除奥卡西平外,其余20种典型精神类药物及代谢产物均有不同程度地检出,检出率范围为22.2%~100%,总检出浓度范围为1.4~224.5 ng/L.其中抗精神病药物利培酮检出浓度最高,浓度范围为0.1~64.1 ng/L.不同采样点精神类药物及其代谢产物的浓度存在空间差异,呈现邵伯湖和高邮湖南部浓度较高,高邮湖北部和宝应湖浓度较低的趋势.由聚类分析可知,点位S1、S7单独形成聚类,浓度分别为175.7和102.9 ng/L.对精神类药物及其代谢产物的来源分析发现,污水处理厂、生活污水和农业废水排放可能是高宝邵伯湖地表水中精神类药物及其代谢产物的主要来源.采用风险商值法(risk quotient,RQ)进行生态风险评估,结果表明高宝邵伯湖表层水体中卡马西平和环氧卡马西平对水生生物具有高风险(RQ>1).精神类药物及其代谢产物在环境中持续性赋存的风险需引起重视.  相似文献

We have jointly analysed space gravimetry data from the GRACE space mission, satellite altimetry data and precipitation over the East African Great Lakes region, in order to study the spatiotemporal variability of hydrological parameters (total water storage, lake water volume and rainfall). We find that terrestrial water storage (TWS) from GRACE and precipitation display a common mode of variability at interannual time scale, with a minimum in late 2005, followed by a rise in 2006–2007. We argue that this event is due to forcing by the strong 2006 Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) on East African rainfall. We also show that GRACE TWS is linked to the El Niño-Southern Oscillation cycle. Combination of the altimetry-based lake water volume with TWS from GRACE over the lakes drainage basins allows estimating soil moisture and groundwater volume variations. Comparison with the WGHM hydrological model outputs is performed and discussed.  相似文献

Forest harvesting often increases catchment quickflow (QF, water delivered rapidly to the stream channel), a metric of high‐flow events controlling a catchment's solute and sediment export. Nevertheless, our understanding of QF responses to various silvicultural strategies (e.g., clearcutting, selection harvest, and shelterwood harvest) is incomplete. We present a 31‐year examination of QF delivery from treatment (clearcut, selection harvest, and shelterwood harvest) and control catchments in a deciduous forest landscape in central Ontario, Canada. Growing season root‐zone storage capacity was estimated using a water balance approach to evaluate temporal changes in QF response to precipitation (P) for pretreatment and posttreatment periods. Threshold relationships between QF and P were assessed for control and treatment catchments for pretreatment and posttreatment periods using piecewise regression. Root‐zone storage capacity demarcated shifts in the hydrologic regime arising from forest harvesting and subsequent regeneration. This was particularly pronounced for clearcutting where postharvest decline in root‐zone storage capacity was followed by a rise to preharvest values. Similar pretreatment threshold relationships between QF and P, and near‐identical P thresholds for producing significant QF, reflected similar soil and overburden depths in the catchments. Harvesting effects were indicated by increases in QF/P ratios for relative small P and the number of P events that generated QF, thus changing treatment QF vs. P threshold relationships. Prior to harvesting there was no significant increase in QF with P below a threshold P of 35–45 mm; however, there was a significant QF vs. P relationship below this threshold for all treatments postharvest. Clearcutting increased the number of QF events for the entire postharvest period and the first 9‐year postharvest compared to the other treatments; nevertheless, evidence for intertreatment differences in total QF depth delivered from the catchments during the growing season was inconclusive. Our work suggests that changes in threshold relationships between QF and P, coupled with knowledge of the physical processes underlying them, are useful when evaluating hydrologic responses to forest harvesting.  相似文献

We developed an index (MESHMacroinvertebrates in Estonia: Score of Hydromorphology) to assess hydromorphological quality of Estonian surface waters based on macroinvertebrate taxonomic composition. The MESH is an average score based on the affinities of selected indicator taxa to flow velocity and bottom type. As both parameters were highly correlated (r = 0.65) indicator response to both parameters were combined. The list of MESH indicators includes 394 freshwater macroinvertebrate taxa derived from 3282 samples collected from rivers and lakes during 1985–2009. The indicators were selected out of 690 taxa, by applying the information-theoretical Kullback–Leibler divergence. The individual scores of macroinvertebrates range from 0 to 3, the higher scores indicating faster flow and/or solid bottom substrate. For standing waters, flow velocity was always considered zero. Among the reference waterbodies, mean MESH was the highest for small streams followed by middle streams, large streams, and lakes. In lakes with medium water hardness (the prevailing type in Estonia), the MESH decreased gradually from stony to muddy bottom. The highest MESH values for standing waters were observed in the stony surf zone of very large lakes (area > 100 km2). The lowest values occurred for small lakes with exceptional hydrochemical characteristics (soft- and darkwater, and calcareous types). Similarly, MESH indicated stream degradation by damming. Mean MESH in reservoirs with a muddy bottom was significantly lower than in reservoirs with a hard bottom, or in unregulated stream sections.  相似文献

We investigate seasonal variations in the diet and drinking water of four Great Lakes mastodon (Mammut americanum) specimens using stable isotope analysis of serially sampled inner-enamel bioapatite structural carbonate (δ13Csc, δ18Osc), and previously published bulk analyses. Isotopic analyses and thin section measurements showed that mastodon tooth enamel extension rates (~ 12–4 mm/yr, decreasing toward the cervix) were lower than those of mammoths or modern elephants. Mastodons had distinct and highly regular seasonal variations in δ13Csc and δ18Osc, which we interpret in the context of local glacial history and vegetation changes. Seasonal variations in δ18O were large but variations in δ13C were small, and may have been obscured if coarser sampling methods than our inner-enamel sampling approach were used. Thus, our approach may be particularly useful for understanding relatively small seasonal changes in δ13C within C3 environments. The seasonal patterns, though not entirely conclusive, suggest that the Ontario mastodons did not migrate over very long distances. Rather, the climate and seasonal dietary patterns of mastodons within the region changed over time, from ~ 12,400 to 10,400 14C yr BP (~ 15,000 – 12,000 cal yr BP). Insights gained using these methods can contribute to a better understanding of megafaunal extinctions and Paleoamerican lifeways.  相似文献
