Remotely sensed land cover was used to generate spatially‐distributed friction coefficients for use in a two‐dimensional model of flood inundation. Such models are at the forefront of research into the prediction of river flooding. Standard practice, however, is to use single (static) friction coefficients on both the channel and floodplain, which are varied in a calibration procedure to provide a “best fit” to a known inundation extent. Spatially‐distributed friction provides a physically grounded estimate of friction that does not require fitting to a known inundation extent, but which can be fitted if desired. Remote sensing offers the opportunity to map these friction coefficients relatively straightforwardly and for low cost. Inundation was predicted using the LISFLOOD‐FP model for a reach on the River Nene, UK. Friction coefficients were produced from land cover predicted from Landsat TM imagery using both ML and fuzzy c‐means classifiction. The elevetion data used were from combined contour and differential global positioning system (GPS) elevation data. Predicted inundation using spatially‐distributed and static friction were compared. Spatially‐distributed friction had the greatest effect on the timing of flood inundation, but a small effect on predicted inundation extent. The results indicate that spatially‐distributed friction should be considered where the timing of initial flooding (e.g. for early warning) is important. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

In this article, we present the solutions for the stresses induced by four different loads associated with an axially loaded pile in a continuously inhomogeneous cross‐anisotropic half‐space. The planes of cross‐anisotropy are parallel to the horizontal surface of the half‐space, and the Young's and shear moduli are assumed to vary exponentially with depth. The four loading types are: an embedded point load for an end‐bearing pile, uniform skin friction, linear variation of skin friction, and non‐linear parabolic variation of skin friction for a friction pile. The solutions for the stresses due to the pile load are expressed in terms of the Hankel integral and are obtained from the point load solutions of the same inhomogeneous cross‐anisotropic half‐space which were derived recently by the authors (Int. J. Rock Mech. Min. Sci. 2003; 40 (5):667–685). A numerical procedure is proposed to carry out the integral. For the special case of homogeneous isotropic and cross‐anisotropic half‐space, the stresses predicted by the numerical procedure agree well with the solutions of Geddes and Wang (Geotechnique 1966; 16 (3):231–255; Soils Found. 2003; 43 (5):41–52). An illustrative example is also given to investigate the effect of soil inhomogeneity, the type and degree of soil anisotropy, and the four different loading types on the vertical normal stress. There is growing interest in the use of back‐propagation neural networks to model non‐linear multivariate problems in geotehnical engineering. To overcome the shortcomings of the conventional back‐propagation neural network, such as overfitting, where the neural network learns the spurious details and noise in the training examples, a hybrid back‐propagation algorithm has been developed. The method utilizes the genetic algorithms search technique and the Bayesian neural network methodology. The genetic algorithms enhance the stochastic search to locate the global minima for the neural network model. The Bayesian inference procedures essentially provide better generalization and a statistical approach to deal with data uncertainty in comparison with the conventional back‐propagation. The uncertainty of data can be indicated using error bars. Two examples are presented to demonstrate the convergence and generalization capabilities of this hybrid algorithm. The isolation systems are usually made of rubber bearings that are sometimes coupled in hybrid combination with frictional
devices; this is the case of an in-site experimental campaign, performed on a base isolated apartment building in Rapolla
(south of Italy). Several dropout tests at initial displacements up to 17cm allowed to obtain in-site information on the true
dynamic response of the isolation system (building and isolators). The tests carried out allow a comparison between the free
vibration responses of a building, isolated by using a 28 HDRB isolation system only, or an HDRB-Friction Sliders Hybrid one.
The paper highlights the main differences of the response in the superstructure (the structure over the isolation system)
obtained by using only HDRB isolation system, or the Hybrid one (HDRB and Friction Sliders in parallel system). Analysis and
comparisons of experimental data, show the influence of nonlinearities on structural higher modes amplification, especially
observed by using the higher nonlinear Hybrid isolation system. Tests results confirm that, in the case of a regular superstructure,

将城市场强与空间自相关结合起来,研究中国661个城市辐射场强和城市间的互动关联强度。从场强看,北京、上海、广州等超大城市辐射作用增长迅速,已形成全国性的辐射圈层结构;围绕沿海特大城市及武汉、郑州、重庆、成都等中西部的区域中心城市,已具备孵化若干区域级城市群的城市化土壤;在地区尺度范围,全国大量地区性中心城市所形成的辐射场强,则培育了都市区发育的城市化土壤。从互动关联强度看,沿海地区城市间相互作用和互动关联性明显高于内陆地区,不仅促进了珠三角、长三角、环渤海等超级城市群的日趋成熟,而且推动辽中南、山东半岛等次级城市群发展壮大。然而,内陆地区大部分城市目前还处于相对孤立发展状态,城市间互动关联性较弱,城市群发育潜力尚未得到真正激发。 相似文献

The parameterization of friction velocity, roughness length, and the drag coefficient over coastal
zones and open water surfaces enables us to better understand the physical processes of air-water interaction.
In context of measurements from the Humidity Exchange over the Sea Main Experiment (HEXMAX), we recently proposed
wave-parameter dependent approaches to sea surface friction velocity and the aerodynamic roughness by using the
dimensional analysis method. To extend the application of these approaches to a range of natural surface conditions,
the present study is to assess this approach by using both coastal shallow (RASEX) and open water surface measurements
(Lake Ontario and Grand Banks ERS-1 SAR) where wind speeds were greater than 6.44 m s-1. Friction velocities,
the surface aerodynamic roughness, and the neutral drag coefficient estimated by these approaches under moderate wind
conditions were compared with the measurements mentioned above. Results showed that the coefficients in these approaches
for coastal shallow water surface differ from those for open water surfaces, and that the aerodynamic roughness length
in terms of wave age or significant wave height should be treated differently for coastal shallow and open water surfaces. 相似文献

为充分了解板式橡胶支座对斜交连续梁桥地震反应的影响,利用OpenSees软件建立简化的斜交桥计算模型进行时程分析,研究板式橡胶支座摩擦滑移效应,以及支座动摩擦系数、剪切刚度、局部脱空等参数对斜交桥地震反应的影响。结果表明:板式橡胶支座考虑摩擦滑移后,不仅桥面位移和转角显著增大,而且出现残余位移和残余转角;随着支座剪切刚度的增大,桥面位移和转角均明显减小;随着桥墩处支座动摩擦系数的增大,桥面位移、转角均呈增长趋势,然而桥台处支座动摩擦系数的影响与之相反;桥墩处局部支座脱空对斜交桥的影响明显大于桥台支座。 相似文献

结合基桩承载过程中的桩周土体应力状态分析和桩土界面摩擦特性分析,推导出基于土体应力状态的沿桩土界面的土体抗剪强度计算模型和基于界面摩擦特性的界面抗剪强度计算模型。通过对比土体抗剪强度和界面抗剪强度,推导出受该两种强度耦合作用影响的极限侧阻力计算模型,并用上海某工程算例验证该模型的合理性和可行性,同时利用该模型分析不同类型的土的极限侧阻力随埋深的分布规律。结果显示:因内摩擦角和侧压力系数之间的不同关系,极限侧阻力随埋深表现出不同的分布特点,在特定关系下,存在一个临界深度,超过该深度极限侧阻力维持在一个稳定值甚至不断减小直至为零。 相似文献

加筋土挡墙因其特有的景观性能、协调变形性能而日益受到设计者青睐。面板作为加筋土挡墙的组成部分,对墙体的承载能力影响显著。针对现有设计规范无法考虑面板形式对结构自身力学变形特性的影响,设计并开展了整体式与分块式面板的离心模型试验。数据测试分析显示:整体式面板加载期的位移小于分块式面板位移;由于分块式面板位移较大,所以其水平土压力小于整体式面板土压力;加筋土挡墙面板底部存在应力集中现象;分块式面板筋-土界面的摩擦系数发挥值大于整体式面板数值,但两者均小于设计规范建议值;由于模型筋材长度较长并且连接件的存在,导致原型设计较为保守。 相似文献
