Three different methods are presented to subtract thermal drifts and low-frequency noise from the signal of infrared array. The first is dead pixels with open Indium bumps, the second is reference output as implemented on the Hawaii2 multiplexer, and the third is dark pixels to emulate reference cells having a capacity connected to the gate of the unit cell field-effect transistor (FET). The third method is the most effective and yields a reduction in readout noise from15.4–9.4 erms. A novel method will be described to extend this readout technique to the Aladdin 1 K × 1 K InSb array. Interactive 3-D computation of fault surfaces using level sets   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Deformable implicit surfaces, implemented with level set methods, have demonstrated a great potential in the computational sciences for applications such as modeling, simulation, and segmentation. They allow implicit handling of complex topologies deformed by operations where large changes can occur without destroying the level set representation. The use of level set techniques for the computation and segmentation of plane-like and high positive curvature features is nontrivial. We present a technique for representing and extracting fault surfaces from 3-D seismic attribute data such that 2-manifolds can be interactively computed and segmented. We present our approach as an interactive workflow that generates highly accurate fault surfaces.  相似文献

Regional magnitudes and patterns of Arctic winter climate changes in consequence of regime changes of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) are analyzed using a regional atmospheric climate model. The regional model has been driven with data of positive and negative NAO phases from a control simulation as well as from a time-dependent greenhouse gas and aerosol scenario simulation. Both global model simulations include a quite realistic interannual variability of the NAO with pronounced decadal regime changes and no or rather weak long-term NAO trends. The results indicate that the effects of NAO regime changes on Arctic winter temperatures and precipitation are regionally significant over most of northwestern Eurasia and parts of Greenland. In this regard, mean winter temperature variations of up to 6 K may occur over northern Europe. Precipitation and synoptic variability are also regionally modified by NAO regime changes, but not as significantly as temperatures. However, the climate changes associated with the NAO are in some regions clearly stronger than those attributed to enhanced greenhouse gases and aerosols, indicating that projected global changes of the atmospheric composition and internal circulation changes are competing with each other in their importance for the Arctic climate evolution in the near future. The knowledge of the future NAO trend on decadal and longer time scales appears to be vitally important in terms of a regional assessment of climate scenarios for the Arctic.  相似文献

A large landslide on the urban fringe of metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona   总被引:2,自引:1,他引:2  
A granitic rock avalanche, one of the largest Quaternary landslides in Arizona outside the Grand Canyon with a volume of approximately 5.25 M m3 and a width a little under 0.5 km, ran 1 km from the eastern McDowell Mountains. With lateral levees and pressure ridges, the rock avalanche deposit displays many features found on classic sturzstroms. Failure occurred along a major joint plane paralleling the slope with a dip of 44°, when a major base level lowering event in the Salt River system would have undermined the base of the failed slope, and probably during a period of more moisture than normally available in the present-day arid climate. Failure at the subsurface weathering front highlights the importance of the dramatic permeability change between grussified regolith and relatively fresh bedrock. Rock varnish microlaminations (VMLs) dating, in concert with other geomorphic evidence, suggests that the rock avalanche deposit is slightly older than 500 ka. The rock vanish results also have important implications for sampling strategies designed to use cosmogenic nuclide to date Quaternary landslide deposits. Discovery of a large landslide in close proximity to the extending urban fringe of metropolitan Phoenix argues for a more careful analysis of landslide hazards in the region, especially where rapid development excavates bedrock at the base of steep mountain slopes and where the subsurface weathering front is near the surface.  相似文献

Seismogenic structures underlie many regions of the vast Canterbury Plains on the South Island of New Zealand. Most of these structures are hidden beneath a layer of rapidly deposited Late Pleistocene sediments, the youth and thickness of which make the general application of conventional paleoseismological studies impractical. In an attempt to improve our understanding of potentially active structures in this region, we have acquired, processed and interpreted shallow seismic reflection data across the northwest Canterbury Plains. To separate the useful reflected signals from unusually high amplitude ambient and source-generated noise, we subjected the data to a specially tailored processing scheme that included time- and space-variant spectral balancing, custom static corrections and mutes, F-X deconvolution, DMO corrections and finite-difference migration. The final stacked and migrated seismic sections supply high-resolution images of the basement and overlying layered Cretaceous- to Quaternary-age supracrustal rocks that have been complexly faulted and folded. At one location, the uppermost Late Pleistocene layers appear to have been gently buckled.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Die Magnetiterzlager der Insel Andörja/Nordnorwegen liegen in einer Serie mesozonal metamorphisierter Sedimente des Kambro-Silurs der Kaledoniden: Granatglimmerschiefer Hangender Kalkmarmor (max. 5 Horizonte, die bis 9 m mächtig sind) Amphibolitschiefer (83–175 m mächtig, mit marin-sedimentären Magnetiterzen) Liegender Kalkmarmor (0–4 m mächtig) Granatglimmerschiefer, z. T. Quarzit.Diese Gesteinsfolge hat typisch miogeosynklinalen Charakter. Da sie westlich des Verbreitungsgebiets der eugeosynklinalen kaledonischen Sedimente und nahe dem Westrand des Verbreitungsgebiets kambro-silurischer Gesteine überhaupt auftritt, könnte es sich hier um den Westrand der Kaledoniden handeln. Westlich davon auftretende präkaledonische Gesteine könnten dann zur irischen Plattform gehören.
The magnetite layers on the island of Andörja lie in a series of metamorphosed cambro-silurian sediments with the following sequence: garnet mica schist upper marble (max. 5 layers with up to 5 m thickness) amphibolite schist (83–175 m thickness, with marine sedimentary magnetite ore) lower marble (0–4 m thickness) garnet mica schist, partly quartzite.This rock sequence is of typically miogeosynclinal character. As it is situated to the west of the extension of the eugeosynclinal Caledonian rocks and near the western border of the cambro-silurian rocks on the whole, we might have here the western boundary of the caledonian geosyncline. Precaledonian rocks to the west of Andörja might then belong to the Irish platform.

Résumé Les couches de magnétite du gisement d'Andörja se trouvent dans une série de sediments cambro-siluriens métamorphiques avec la séquence suivante: marbre supérieur (max. 5 horizons qui ont une épaisseur jusqu'à 9 m) amphibolite (83–175 m d'épaisseur, avec gisements de magnétite) marbre inférieur (0–4 m d'épaisseur) schistes de grenat et mica, en partie quartzites.La séquence est d'un caractère typiquement miogeosynclinal. Parce qu'elle apparaît à l'ouest de l'extension des roches eugéosynclinales calédoniennes et à la bordure des roches cambro-siluriennes en général, on y a probablement la frontière occidentale de la géosynclinale calédonienne. Les roches précalédoniennes plus à l'ouest pourraient alors appartenir à la plateforme d'Irlande.

Within the German Tropospheric Research Programme (TFS) numerous kinetic and mechanistic studies on the tropospheric reaction/degradation of the following reactants were carried out: oxygenated VOC, aromatic VOC, biogenic VOC, short-lived intermediates, such as alkoxy and alkylperoxy radicals.At the conception of the projects these selected groups were classes of VOC or intermediates for which the atmospheric oxidation mechanisms were either poorly characterised or totally unknown. The motivation for these studies was the attainment of significant improvements in our understanding of the atmospheric chemical oxidation processes of these compounds, particularly with respect to their involvement in photooxidant formation in the troposphere. In the present paper the types of experimental investigations performed and the results obtained within the various projects are briefly summarised. The major achievements are highlighted and discussed in terms of their contribution to improving our understanding of the chemical processes controlling photosmog formation in the troposphere.  相似文献

Atmospheric oxidation of isoprene and its oxidation products methacrolein (MACR) and methyl vinyl ketone (MVK) have an important impact on the photochemical activity in the boundary layer, in particular in forested areas. The oxidation of isoprene by OH radicals was investigated in chamber experiments conducted under tropospheric conditions in the atmosphere simulation chamber SAPHIR at the Research Center Jülich. The aim was to determine the product yield of MVK and MACR in the OH-induced isoprene oxidation and the rate constant of their reaction with OH under real atmospheric conditions. The recently published updated degradation scheme for isoprene from Geiger et al. (2003) was used to determine rate constants and product yields. The fractional yields in the isoprene peroxy radical reaction with NO were found to be 0.41±0.03 for MVK and 0.27±0.03 for MACR. The rate coefficient for MACR with OH was found to be in very good agreement with the recommended value of IUPAC Atkinson (Atkinson et al., 2005). while the rate coefficient for MVK with OH was 27% lower.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung In Westnorwegen auftretende Magnetit-Ilmeniterze sind teilweise an intrusive, gabbroide Gesteine und teilweise an wahrscheinlich extrusive Amphibolite gebunden. Das TiO2Fe-Verhältnis der Amphiboliterze beträgt 0,14–0,15 und ist innerhalb der einzelnen Vorkommen konstant. In den Gabbroerzen liegt das Verhältnis zwischen 0,21 und 0,35 und schwankt auch innerhalb der Einzelvorkommen stark.
Magnetite-ilmenite ore in western Norway occurs partly in intrusive, gabbroic rocks, partly in amphibolites which seem to be extrusive. The relation TiO2: Fe in the amphibolite ores is 0.14–0.15 and is constant within every deposit. In the gabbro ores the relation TiO2Fe lies between 0.21 and 0.35 and varies also within every single deposit.

Résumé Dans l'Ouest de la Norvège des gisements de magnétite-ilménite se trouvent en partie dans des roches gabbroïques et intrusives, en partie dans des amphibolites qui sont probablement extrusives. Le rapport TiO2Fe dans les minerais amphibolitiques est de 0,14–0,15 et se montre très constant d'un gisement à l'autre. Dans les minerais gabbroïques, le rapport TiO2Fe varie entre 0,21 et 0,35 et diffère selon le gisement.
