Seismic and sequence stratigraphy analyses, petroleum-well control and surface data studies of the Majoura–El Hfay region in the Central Atlas of Tunisia had led to identify and calibrate Jurassic seismic horizons. Seismic stratigraphic sections, seismic tectonics analyses, isochron and isopach mapping of Jurassic sequences show a differentiated structuring of platform and depocentre blocks limited by deep-seated NE–SW, north–south east–west and NW–SE faults intruded by Upper Triassic salt. The early salt migration seems to have started by the platform fracturing during the Lower Liassic rifting event. These movements are fossilized by thickness variations of Jurassic horizons, aggrading and retrograding onlap and toplap structures between subsiding rim-syncline gutters and high platform flanks intruded by salt pillows and domes. The salt migration is also attested by Middle and Upper Jurassic space depocentre migrations. Around the Majoura–El Hfay study blocks bounded by master faults, Triassic salt have pierced the Cretaceous and Tertiary sedimentary cover in a salt diapir extrusion and salt wall structures. Liquefaction of soils is a natural phenomenon associated with a dramatic loss of the soil shear strength in undrained conditions due to a development of excess pore water pressure. It usually causes extensive damages to buildings and infrastructures during earthquakes. Thus, it is important to evaluate extent of influential parameters on the liquefaction phenomenon of soils in order to clearly understand the different mechanisms leading to its triggering. The soil gradation is one of the most important parameters affecting the liquefaction phenomenon. In this context, a series of undrained compression triaxial tests were carried out on eighteen natural loose (Dr = 25%) sandy samples containing low plastic fines content of 2% (Ip = 5%) considering different extreme sizes (1.6 mm ≤ Dmax ≤ 4 mm and 0.001 mm ≤ Dmin ≤ 0.63 mm) and two mean grain size ranges (0.25 mm ≤ D50 ≤ 1.0 mm) and (1.0 mm ≤ D50 ≤ 2.5 mm). The initial confining pressure for all tests was kept constant (P′c = 100 kPa). The obtained test results indicate that the mean grain size (D50) and extreme grain sizes (Dmax and Dmin) have a significant influence on the undrained shear strength (known as liquefaction resistance) and appear as pertinent factors for the prediction of the undrained shear strength for the soil gradation under study. The undrained shear strength and the excess pore water pressure can be correlated to the extreme grain sizes (Dmax and Dmin) and the mean grain size (D50) of tested wet deposited samples.  相似文献

In this paper, undrained triaxial compression tests were performed on specimens obtained in Oued Rass sand (Chlef, Algeria). The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of specimen deposition methods, the initial density, and the confining pressure on the undrained behavior of this sand. The test results show that the initial confining pressure and the relative density affected, in a significant manner, the resistance to liquefaction. However, it increases with confining pressure and relative density. The results also show that the specimens prepared by dry deposition method have a greater resistance to liquefaction than those prepared by moist tamping. A nondestructive comparative analysis of the deposits by X-ray microtomography carried out at the granular scale made it possible to characterize more precisely the difference of the obtained structures for the two deposition modes.  相似文献

Between 1995 and 2001, the soft-bottom communities along the 1180 km of the Algerian coast were sampled in nine gulfs and 12 harbours, providing a total of 655 samples. Eight macrozoobenthos-based biotic indices (S, N, H′, BQI, AMBI, BENTIX, BO2A and ITI) were selected to describe the general patterns of the coastal water quality status and to establish a quality diagnosis for the different zones subjected to anthropogenic pressure (e.g., harbour construction, industrial and urban pollution). Reference values were determined for each of the eight indices selected by analyzing the indices’ parameter distribution. The Ecological Quality Ratio (EQR) was estimated for each index, resulting in an EQR Mean Score and an EQR Bad Score. From these EQR, we defined an EQS for each sample. The agreement between these EQS was analysed using the Kappa method in order to propose a survey strategy for the Algerian coastal waters that would take into account the soft-bottom biological compartment. The results clearly indicate that high and good quality assessments are prevalent in the gulfs, while quality assessments in harbours vary greatly from bad to good. The effect of pollution observed in the harbours can be classified in two main groups, according to when they were constructed and their relative degree of openness to the sea, which permits better water circulation and probably dilutes the pollution.  相似文献

We use a sample of Swift gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) to analyze the Amati and Yonetoku correlations. The first relation is between E p,i , the intrinsic peak energy of the prompt GRB emission, and E iso , the equivalent isotropic energy. The second relation is between E p,i and L iso , the isotropic peak luminosity. We select a sample of 71 Swift GRBs that have a measured redshift and whose observed $E^{obs}_{p}$ is within the interval of energy 15–150 keV with a relative uncertainty of less than 70 %. We seek to find correlation relations for long-duration GRBs (LGRBs) with a peak photon flux P ph ≥2.6 ph/cm2/s. Uncertainties (error bars) on the values of the calculated energy flux P, the energy E iso , and the peak isotropic luminosity L iso are estimated using a Monte Carlo approach. We find 27 Swift LGRBs that satisfy all our constraints. Results of our analyses of the sample of 71 GRBs and the selected subsample (27 GRBs) are in good agreement with published results. The plots of the two relations for all bursts show a large dispersion around the best straight lines in the sample of 71 LGRBs but not so much in the subsample of 27 GRBs.  相似文献
