This paper reports a study of the field measurements and monitoring of wastewater discharge in sea water at Bari East (Italy). A wastewater sea outfall system is an integral and fundamental part of each wastewater treatment with ultimate sink in the sea water. The design of a water treatment plant and wastewater outfall must take into account the use of the environmental water, the values of physicochemical parameters to be respected in order to safeguard the use itself and the quality of the environmental water where wastewater is issued. In the present study measurements of sea current velocity components were carried out with a VM-ADP (Vessel-Mounted Acoustic Doppler Profiler). Salinity, wind directions and velocities were assessed with, for one survey, the total faecal coliforms and other biochemical parameters. It was emphasized that the measurements necessary for monitoring cannot be concentrated in the wastewater outfall pipe zone only, but should be extended to a neighbouring area of the outfall pipe, with an extension depending on the wastewater discharge, the polluting charge and the magnitude of the sea currents and the winds typical of the zone of interest. The analyses presented in this paper confirm that the sea zones close to the wastewater outfall pipe are particularly sensitive and vulnerable. Such results must be considered in the planning of a wastewater outfall pipe. 相似文献

Seismic profiles and well data from the Doukkala basin unravel the structure of the Palaeozoic basement and suggest that this coastal zone of western Morocco was affected by a compressive phase during the Frasnian. This resulted in the formation of upright, plurikilometric folds associated with reverse faults (North Doukkala), and of asymmetrical folds associated with mostly west verging ramps (South Doukkala). Folding involved all pre-Upper Frasnian formations and caused partial or total hiatus of Upper Frasnian–Strunian strata. This event can be correlated with the orogenic phase reported from more internal domains of the Morocco Hercynian belt, where it is referred to as the ‘Bretonne’ or ‘Eovariscan’ phase. The Neyriz region includes outcrops of metamorphic rocks that are thrust over the Neotethyan ophiolites. These rocks are affected by a major deformational event, the result of which includes a shearing polyphase foliation present in gneissic core domes, overprinted by a crenulation cleavage. These fundamental structures developed contemporaneously with a medium-pressure metamorphism which is characterized by the syn-kinematic crystallization of kyanite and the beginning of anatexis, followed by the development of retrometamorphic mineral parageneses. The major deformation phase in the area occurred during the Early-Cimmerian orogeny in the Late Triassic. Following the orogeny, the gneiss domes started to rise into the upper levels of the crust. From the geodynamic point of view, after the Mid-Permian the studied area was situated at southern passive margin of the Iranian plate; the central Iranian microcontinent at that time was separated by the Neotethys ocean from the Gondwanian supercontinent. After the Late Triassic the region became an active margin associated with an accretionary prism. The margin was finally involved in an orogenic wedge after the closure of the Neotethyan oceanic basin in the Late Mesozoic. Closure of the basin resulted in a major thrusting of the metamorphic rocks of the southern Iranian margin over the Neotethyan ophiolites. 相似文献

The theoretical explosive energy used in blasting is a common issue in many recent research works (Spathis 1999; Sanchidrian 2003). It is currently admitted that the theoretical available energy of the explosives is split into several parts during a blast:
seismic, kinetic, backbreaks, heave, heat and fragmentation energies. Concerning this last one, the energy devoted to the
breakage and to the creation of blocks within the muckpile can be separated from the microcracking energy which is devoted
to developing new and/or extending existing micro cracks within the blocks (Hamdi et al. 2001; López et al. 2002). In order to investigate these two types of energy, a first and important task is to precisely study the main parameters
characterising the two constitutive elements of the rock mass (rock matrix and discontinuity system). This should provide
useful guidelines for the choice of the blasting parameters (type of explosive, blasting pattern, etc.), in order to finally
control the comminution process. Within the frame of the EU LESS FINES research project, devoted to the control of fines production,
the methodology was developed in order to: (1) characterize the in situ rock mass, by evaluating the density, anisotropy,
interconnectivity and fractal dimension of the discontinuity system and (2) evaluate fragmentation (both micro and macro)
energy spent during the blasting operation. The methodology was applied to three production blasts performed in the Klinthagen
quarry (Sweden) allowing to estimate the part of the fragmentation energy devoted to the formation of muck pile blocks on
one side and to the muckpile blocks microcracking on the other side. 相似文献

Dykes of monchiquites of Cainozoic age (37.5±2.3 Ma) are intrusive in Cretaceous sandstones in the Tchircotché area, Upper Benue valley (northern Cameroon). The differentiation of the monchiquites is explained by crystal fractionation of olivine, clinopyroxene, magnetite, ilmenite and apatite. A studied rock has low Sr-isotope ratio , which is similar to those of the alkali basalts of the Cameroon Line. Therefore the continental crust appears to have no significant role in the genesis of the monchiquites. 相似文献

The review of the seismic reflection and well data from the coastal Abda Basin (western Morocco) shows that its Triassic and Jurassic sequences were deposited in a submeridean sag basin, whose eastern margin is characterised by progressive truncations and pinching out of these sequences against a prominent Palaeozoic high. The uplift of this latter is interpreted as a response to an Upper Triassic–Middle Jurassic local compressional event that controlled Triassic–Jurassic sedimentation within the Abda Basin. The present day ‘West Meseta Flexure’ is a surface expression of this uplift. To cite this article: H. Echarfaoui et al., C. R. Geoscience 334 (2002) 371–377. 相似文献

The purpose of the present work is to study the hydrodynamic aspects in the Mar Piccolo, a coastal basin located on the northern side of the Gulf of Taranto in the Ionian Sea (Italy), by means of mathematical modelling and field measurements. The latter were assessed during three surveys carried out in the spring–summer of 2002. Collected data have been utilized as input by the 3-D Princeton Ocean Model, which is a sigma coordinate, free surface ocean model which was developed in the late 1970s by Blumberg and Mellor. Simulations in baroclinic condition were forced by a homogeneous and stationary wind field, a simple tidal wave, a constant outflow and vertical stratification of temperature and salinity. A comparison was made between the mathematical modelling results and the field measurements collected during the surveys, in terms of velocity. It was observed that during small tides, when the wind effect prevails over the stratification effect, the best model results were obtained for the most superficial layer and that superficial patterns reproduced by the model are more sensitive to wind direction than to stratification. On the contrary, when the wind effect decreases or the thermohaline effect rises, best results occurred in deeper layers. 相似文献

Homogenization in fractured rock analyses is essentially based on the calculation of equivalent elastic parameters. In this paper, a new numerical homogenization method that was programmed by means of a MATLAB code, called HLA-Dissim, is presented. The developed approach simulates a discontinuity network of real rock masses based on the International Society of Rock Mechanics (ISRM) scanline field mapping methodology. Then, it evaluates a series of classic joint parameters to characterize density (RQD, specific length of discontinuities). A pulse wave, characterized by its amplitude, central frequency, and duration, is propagated from a source point to a receiver point of the simulated jointed rock mass using a complex recursive method for evaluating the transmission and reflection coefficient for each simulated discontinuity. The seismic parameters, such as delay, velocity, and attenuation, are then calculated. Finally, the equivalent medium model parameters of the rock mass are computed numerically while taking into account the natural discontinuity distribution. This methodology was applied to 17 bench fronts from six aggregate quarries located in Tunisia, Spain, Austria, and Sweden. It allowed characterizing the rock mass discontinuity network, the resulting seismic performance, and the equivalent medium stiffness. The relationship between the equivalent Young’s modulus and rock discontinuity parameters was also analyzed. For these different bench fronts, the proposed numerical approach was also compared to several empirical formulas, based on RQD and fracture density values, published in previous research studies, showing its usefulness and efficiency in estimating rapidly the Young’s modulus of equivalent medium for wave propagation analysis. 相似文献
