The data on optical, X-ray and gamma emission from proton flares, as well as direct observations of flare-associated phenomena, show energetic proton acceleration in the corona rather than in the flare region. In the present paper, the acceleration of protons and accompanying relativistic electrons is accounted for by a shock wave arising during the development of a large flare. We deal with a regular acceleration mechanism due to multiple reflection of resonance protons and fast electrons from a collisionless shock wave front which serves as a moving mirror. The height of the most effective acceleration in the solar corona is determined. The accelerated particle energy and density are estimated. It is shown in particular that a transverse collisionless shock wave may produce the required flux of protons with energy of 10 MeV and of relativistic electrons of 1–10 MeV.The proposed scheme may also serve as an injection mechanism when the protons are accelerated up to relativistic energies by other methods.  相似文献

The minerals of Oldoinyo Lengai natrocarbonatite lavas are unstable under atmospheric conditions. Subsolidus mineral assemblages in natrocarbonatites were studied in 105 samples from contemporary eruptions ranging from present day to about 100 years old. The subsolidus minerals in natrocarbonatites were formed (i) along cracks on the lava surface from hot gases escaping during cooling, (ii) as atmospheric alteration by solution of water-soluble minerals, in particular halides and gregoryite, and by hydration of nyerereite under the influence of meteoric water and (iii) by reaction with fumarole gases. After solidification, the lavas were cut by a network of thin cracks, the edges of which are covered by polymineralic encrustations. Samples collected 2–24 h after eruption contain nahcolite, trona, sylvite, and halite with accessory kalicinite and villiaumite. Atmospheric humidity results immediately (≥ 2 h after eruption) in alteration of black lavas that is marked by the appearance of white powdery thermonatrite with nahcolite on the lava surface. Subsequent reaction (weeks, months, years) of natrocarbonatite with meteoric water and the atmosphere results in the formation of pirssonite, gaylussite, shortite, trona, thermonatrite, nahcolite and calcite. Generally, the first important step is the formation of pirssonite and the end-members are calcite carbonate rocks or loose aggregates. Fumarolic activity is common for the active northern crater of the volcano. Reaction of hot (54–141 °C) fumarolic gases with natrocarbonatite leads to the formation of sulphur, gypsum, calcite, anhydrite, monohydrocalcite, barite and celestine. Changes in mineralogy of the natrocarbonatite lead to substantial chemical transformation. The most obvious chemical changes in this process are the loss of Na, K, Cl and S, combined with an increase in H2O, Ca, Sr, Ba, F and Mn. The oxygen and carbon isotopic composition of altered natrocarbonatites shows a significant shift from the primary “Lengai Box” to high values of δ18O and δ13C. Calcite exhibits δ13C values between − 2‰ and − 4‰ PDB and δ18O values of + 23‰ to + 26‰ SMOW. The observed assemblages of secondary minerals formed by reaction with atmosphere and meteoric water, the changes in chemical composition of the natrocarbonatite and field observations suggest that alteration of natrocarbonatite is an open-system low-temperature process. It takes place at temperatures between 8 and 43 °C with the addition of H2O to the system and the removal of Na, K, Cl and S from the carbonatites. Low-temperature thermodynamic models developed for alkali carbonate systems can be used for the interpretation of Oldoinyo Lengai subsolidus mineralization.  相似文献

The possibility of obtaining information about oscillation processes in magnetic flux tubes on the Sun by analyzing the undulating frequency drift of the zebra pattern in the dynamic spectrum of solar radio emission is discussed. It is shown that the oscillatory variation in the frequency of zebra stripes can be associated with fast magnetoacoustic (FMA) oscillations in a flux tube, which lead to oscillations in the magnetic field strength and electron number density. The October 25, 1994 event recorded by the radio spectrograph of the Astrophysical Institute Potsdam is used as an example to demonstrate the possibility of determining the parameters of FMA oscillations and the physical conditions in coronal magnetic loops from the observed zebra-pattern characteristics.  相似文献

We examine plasma heating due to the dissipation of acoustic waves excited in coronal magnetic loops by parametric resonance with the five-minute oscillations in the velocity of the photospheric convection. The energy of acoustic waves excited in the coronal magnetic loop, rate of dissipation of acoustic waves, and rate of heating of the coronal plasma are determined. The maximum temperature predicted for the apex of the loop is calculated as a function of the velocity of photospheric oscillations, length of the loop, and electric current in the loop. It is shown that the mechanism proposed can explain the origin of quasi-stationary X-ray loops with temperatures of 3–6 MK. The lengths of these loops are resonant for acoustic waves excited by the five-minute photospheric oscillations. The use of the proposed mechanism to explain heating of the X-ray loops expected to be on stars of late spectral types is discussed.  相似文献

The extinct Quaternary Kerimasi volcano located in the southern part of the Gregory Rift, northern Tanzania, contains both intrusive and extrusive calciocarbonatites. One carbonate mineral with a high content of Na and Ca has been found in a sample of volcanic carbonatite, which is probably a cumulate rock. On the basis of Raman spectroscopy and SEM/EDS, this mineral was identified as nyerereite, ideally Na2Ca(CO3)2. It occurs as solid inclusions up to 300 × 200 μm in size in magnetite and contains (wt. %) 25.4–27.4 Na2O, 26.0–26.8 CaO, 1.6–1.9 K2O, 0.6–1.8 FeO, 0.3–0.6 SrO, <0.4 BaO, 1.4–2.3 SO3, and 0.6–0.9 P2O5. The average mineral formula is (Na1.84K0.08)Σ1.92(Ca1.00Fe0.03Sr0.01)Σ1.04[(CO3)1.91(SO4)0.05(PO4)0.02]Σ1.98. A few inclusions in magnetite also contain calcite, which is considered here to be a late-stage, subsolidus mineral. The occurrence of nyerereite in carbonatite supports Hay’s (1983) idea that some of the extrusive carbonatites at the Kerimasi volcano were originally alkaline rich and contained both calcite and nyerereite as primary minerals.  相似文献

Simultaneous analysis of carbon and nitrogen isotope ratios by SIMS was applied for the first-time to a natural diamond from the Kelsey Lake kimberlite, State Line Distinct, Colorado (UWD-1). This in situ procedure is faster, reduces sample size for analysis, and measures both isotope ratios from a single ~ 10 μm diameter pit, a critical advantage for zoned diamonds. The carbon isotope ratio (expressed as δ13CVPDB) of the bulk UWD-1 crystal, determined by the conventional combustion method in the present study, is -5.9‰ ± 0.2‰ (VPDB, 2s). Nitrogen mass fraction ([N]) and isotope ratio (expressed as δ15NAir) were determined by stepwise combustion and gas-source mass-spectrometry, resulting in 553 ± 64 μg g-1 and -6.7‰ ± 1.1‰ (Air, 2s), respectively. Secondary ions of 12C2-, 12C13C-, 12C14N-, and 12C15N- were simultaneously measured by SIMS using three Faraday cups and one electron multiplier. The spot-to-spot reproducibility of δ13C and δ15N values for the UWD-1 (178 spots on sixteen chips, 10 μm spots), were 0.3‰ and 1.6‰, respectively (2s). While 12C14N-/12C2- ratios, which are an indicator for [N], varied up to 12% among these sixteen chips, such variation did not correlate with either δ13C or δ15N values. We propose that UWD-1 is a suitable reference sample for microscale in situ analysis of δ13C and δ15N values in diamond samples.  相似文献

Results of polarimetric observations of a high-albedo asteroid 64 Angelina obtained in the phase-angle range from 0.8° to 24.3° are presented. The observations were carried out in the period from September 28 to October 9, 2008, and on November 15, 2011, and September 18, 2012, with the 1.25-m and 2.6-m telescopes of the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory equipped with a five-color double-beam photopolarimeter and a single-channel photometer-polarimeter, respectively. Our observations confirm the polarimetric opposition effect in asteroid 64 Angelina at small phase angles and well agree with the other observations. The obtained results are discussed in terms of the currently available models of the light scattering by regolith surfaces.  相似文献

An interpretation is suggested for the rain type radio bursts on the basis of a pulsating regime of the stream instability. This regime may occur in ejected stabilized ion streams trapped in the region in which the magnetic field of the corona has a typical bipolar structure.  相似文献

The analysis of observational data has shown that the duration of a pulse train in type IV radio bursts decreases with increasing hardness of the spectrum of high-energy protons and increases with decreasing proton fluxes from the Sun. It is shown that such a correlation corresponds to a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) model of pulsations and is inexplicacable within the framework of a nonlinear periodical regime of plasma instabilities. The pulse train duration is determined by proton pitch-angle diffusion caused by Alfvén waves in coronal magnetic loops. A method of predicting solar proton hardness and proton fluxes using type IV radio burst pulsations is proposed.  相似文献
