Several sections from the uppermost Eocene and Oligocene of northern Slovenia have been investigated with respect to sedimentary facies, foraminiferal assemblages, stable isotopes, carbonate microfacies, and palynology. The main objective was to reconstruct the paleoenvironmental history of the Paleogene Paratethys in this region of the eastern Alpine realm. The sediments exhibit a transgressive succession beginning with conglomerates, sandstones, and mudstones of fluvial and lacustrine origin followed by carbonates and muddy marls indicating marine conditions. The foraminiferal faunal changes from brackish to shallow marine to deeper marine assemblages and the distribution of the palynofloras corroborate the sedimentological results. Microfacies analysis of the limestones shows a wide variation of shallow water, generally mud-rich facies dominated by coralline algae, foraminifera, and corals. Microfaunas adapted to low-oxygen conditions indicate temporal sluggish bottom-water circulation which can be associated with high fresh-water fluxes. These results are discussed as reflecting both the global sea-level rise during the Early Oligocene and the regional tectonic and climatic evolution.  相似文献

Combined paleomagnetic and structural research was carried out in the Mura-Zala Basin including the western and southern surrounding hills in northeastern Slovenia. The Mura-Zala Basin was formed due to ENE–WSW trending crustal extension in the late Early Miocene (18.3–16.5 Ma). First, marine sedimentation took place in several more or less confined depressions, then in a unified basin. During thermal subsidence in the late Miocene deltaic to fluvial sediments were deposited. After sedimentation, the southernmost, deepest depression was inverted. Map-scale folds, reverse and strike-slip faults were originated by NNW–SSE compression. This deformation occurred in the latest Miocene–Pliocene and is reflected also in the magnetic fabric (low field susceptibility anisotropy). After this folding, the Karpatian sediments of the Haloze acquired magnetization, then suffered 30° counterclockwise rotation relative to the present north (40° counterclockwise with respect to stable Europe). This Pliocene (Quaternary?) rotation affected a wide area around the Mura-Zala Basin. The latest Miocene to Quaternary folding and subsequent rotation may be connected to the counterclockwise rotation of the Adriatic microplate.  相似文献

Melt and fluid inclusions were investigated in minerals from igneous rocks and ore (Au-Ag-Pb-Zn) veins of the Stiavnica ore field in Central Slovakia. High H2O (7.1–12.0 wt %) and Cl (0.32–0.46 wt %) contents were found in silicate melt inclusions (65–69 wt % SiO2 and 5.2–5.6 wt % K2O) in plagioclase phenocrysts (An 68–36) from biotite-homblende andesites of the eastern part of the caldera. Similar high water contents are characteristic of magmatic melts (71–76 wt % SiO2 and 3.7–5.1 wt % K2O) forming the sanidine rhyolites of the Vyhne extrusive dome in the northwestern part of the Stiavnica caldera (up to 7.1 wt %) and the rhyolites of the Klotilda dike in the eastern part of the ore field (up to 11.5 wt %). The examination of primary inclusions in quartz and sanidine from the Vyhne rhyolites revealed high concentrations of N2 and CO2 in magmatic fluid (8.6 g/kg H2O and 59 g/kg H2O, respectively). Fluid pressure was estimated as 5.0 kbar on the basis of primary CO2 fluid inclusions in plagioclase phenocrysts from the Kalvari basanites. This value corresponds to a depth of 18 km and may be indicative of a deep CO2 source. Quartz from the granodiorites of the central part of the Stiavnica-Hodrusa complex crystallized from a melt with 4.2–6.1 wt % H2O and 0.24–0.80 wt % Cl. Magmatic fluid cogenetic with this silicate melt was represented by a chloride brine with a salinity of no less than 77–80 wt % NaCl equiv. Secondary inclusions in quartz of the igneous rocks recorded a continuous trend of temperature, pressure, and solution salinity, from the parameters of magmatic fluids to the conditions of formation of ore veins. The gold mineralization of the Svyatozar vein system was formed from boiling low-salinity fluids (0.3–8.0 wt % NaCl equv.) at temperatures of 365–160°C and pressures of 160–60 bar. The Terezia, Bieber, Viliam, Spitaler, and Rozalia epithermal gold-silver-base metal veins were also formed from heterogeneous low-salinity fluids (0.3–12.1 wt %) at temperatures of 380–58°C and pressures of 240–10 bar. It was found that the salt components of the solutions were dominated by chlorides (high content of fluorine, up to 0.45 mol/kg H2O, was also detected), and sulfate solutions appeared in the upper levels. The dissolved gas of ore-forming solutions was dominated by CO2 (0.1–8.4 mol %, averaging 1.3 wt %) and contained minor nitrogen (0.00–0.85 mol %, averaging 0.05 mol %) and negligible methane admixtures (0.00–0.05 mol %, averaging 0.004 mol %). These data allowed us to conclude that the magmatic melts could be sources of H2O, Cl, CO2, and N2. The formation of the epithermal mineralization of the Stiavnica ore field was associated with the mixing of magmatic fluid with low-concentration meteoric waters, and the fluid was in a heterogeneous state.  相似文献

The magnetic fabric of Late Miocene sediments from the southern Pannonian basin was studied on oriented samples collected from 19 geographically distributed localities. All of them are characterized by near-horizontal magnetic foliation plane after tilt correction, indicating weak deformation. Well-developed lineations were observed for 16 localities, which are interpreted as due to compressional/transpressional deformation, except from three localities, where the fabric must have been formed in an extensional setting. Comparison between the orientation of the map-scale folds and faults and magnetic lineation directions shows that magnetic lineation is either related to NNE-SSW directed compression, leading to the formation of folds or it can be connected to NW–SE or NNE-SSW trending dextral faults.  相似文献

New laser ablation-inductive coupled plasma-mass spectrometry U-Pb analyses on oscillatory-zoned zircon imply Early Miocene crystallization (18.64 ± 0.11 Ma) of the Pohorje pluton at the southeastern margin of the Eastern Alps (northern Slovenia). Inherited zircon cores indicate two crustal sources: a late Variscan magmatic population (~270–290 Ma), and an early Neoproterozoic one (850–900 Ma) with juvenile Hf isotope composition close to that of depleted mantle. Initial εHf of Miocene zircon points to an additional, more juvenile source component of the Miocene magma, which could be either a juvenile Phanerozoic crust or the Miocene mantle. The new U-Pb isotope age of the Pohorje pluton seriously questions its attribution to the Oligocene age ‘Periadriatic’ intrusions. The new data imply a temporal coincidence with 19–15 Ma magmatism in the Pannonian Basin system, more specifically in the Styrian Basin. K-Ar mineral- and whole rock ages from the pluton itself and cogenetic shallow intrusive dacitic rocks (~18–16 Ma), as well as zircon fission track data (17.7–15.6 Ma), gave late Early to early Middle Miocene ages, indicating rapid cooling of the pluton within about 3 Million years. Medium-grade Austroalpine metamorphics north and south of the pluton were reheated and subsequently cooled together. Outcrop- and micro scale structures record deformation of the Pohorje pluton and few related mafic and dacitic dykes under greenschist facies conditions. Part of the solidstate fabrics indicate E–W oriented stretching and vertical thinning, while steeply dipping foliation and NW–SE trending lineation are also present. The E–W oriented lineation is parallel to the direction of subsequent brittle extension, which resulted in normal faulting and tilting of the earlier ductile fabric at around the Early / Middle Miocene boundary; normal faulting was combined with strike-slip faulting. Renewed N–S compression may be related to late Miocene to Quaternary dextral faulting in the area. The documented syn-cooling extensional structures and part of the strike-slip faults can be interpreted as being related to lateral extrusion of the Eastern Alps and/or to back-arc rifting in the Pannonian Basin.  相似文献
