Abstract The vertical profiles of streamwise velocities are computed on flood plains vegetated with trees. The calculations were made based on a newly developed one-dimensional model, taking into account the relevant forces acting on the volumetric element surrounding the considered vegetation elements. A modified mixing length concept was used in the model. An important by-product of the model is the method for evaluating the friction velocities, and consequently bed shear stresses, in a vegetated channel. The model results were compared with the relevant experimental results obtained in a laboratory flume in which flood plains were covered by simulated vegetation. 相似文献

ABSTRACT Geomorphological instantaneous unit hydrograph (GIUH) theory has been applied for the estimation of the parameters of two conceptual models: a linear cascade model and a Laurenson-type model. Conceptual models, especially the linear cascade model, are more convenient for operational forecasting than the original GIUH model. A single linear reservoir model is suggested, with limited storage to represent the subsurface flow component. Subsurface flow is significant in Polish mountainous river catchments. Preliminary results of applying the model to operational flood forecasting are described. 相似文献

Abstract The possible impacts of modifications in rainfall patterns due to the greenhouse effect on the function of a sewerage system are studied based on a case study of the city of Lund, Sweden. The Storm Water Management Model is used to simulate changes in the runoff pattern. The paper lists the possible effects of increases in rainfall intensity on the urban water cycle, quantifies changes in the runoff pattern, and discusses the significance of detected changes in terms of economic and environmental consequences and the possibilities to undertake preventative measures. For the purpose of the present study, 10%, 20% and 30% levels of rainfall increase were assumed. In spite of considerable uncertainty regarding the potential future rate of hydrological changes, the examples given of possible impacts of the greenhouse effect on the function of the sewerage system bear witness to the great vulnerability of sewerage systems to the results of climate changes. 相似文献

Determination of recent deposition rates in Lake Constance with radioisotopic methods 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Sedimentation rates were determined with the 210Pb method in eight sediment cores from Lake Constance. The rate of deposition in the main basin (Obersee) varies from about 0.06 g cm?2 y?1 in the central part to 0.13 g cm?2 y?1 in the eastern part of the lake and then increases rapidly towards the Rhine delta. In the central lake area the rate of deposition has been approximately constant since 1900, and dating with the 210Pb method is in good agreement with sedimentological observations. In the Konstanzer Trichter area, the deposition rate has been increasing since about 1955 as a result of eutrophication and subsequent high carbonate production. Dating with 137Cs is fairly accurate for sediments deposited at a high rate, but is questionable for slowly accumulating ones. A positive correlation of 210Pb fluxes and sedimentation rates indicates that 210Pb flux into sediments follows the distribution pattern of solids. 210Pb profiles in four sediment cores interpreted in terms of a constant flux model display synchronous fluctuations of the sedimentation rate; however, their relation to long-range particulate input variations remains to be proved. Sedimentation rates determined with the 210Pb method were used to calculate recent nutrient and heavy metal fluxes. Anthropogenic fluxes of Zn and Pb are in the same range of magnitude as in other polluted areas in Europe and America. 相似文献
