Active faults aligning in NW–SE direction and forming flower structures of strike-slip faults were observed in shallow seismic data from the shelf offshore of Avcılar in the northern Marmara Sea. By following the parallel drainage pattern and scarps, these faults were traced as NW–SE-directed lineaments in the morphology of the northern onshore sector of the Marmara Sea (eastern Thrace Peninsula). Right-lateral displacements in two watersheds of drainage and on the coast of the Marmara Sea and Black Sea are associated with these lineaments. This right-lateral displacement along the course of these faults suggests a new, active strike-slip fault zone located at the NW extension of the northern boundary fault of the ?ınarcık Basin in the Marmara Sea. This new fault zone is interpreted as the NW extension of the northern branch of the North Anatolian Fault Zone (NAFZ), extending from the ?ınarcık Basin of the Marmara Sea to the Black Sea coast of the Thrace Peninsula, and passing through B üy ük ?ekmece and K ü ? ük ?ekmece lagoons. These data suggest that the rupture of the 17 August 1999 earthquake in the NAFZ may have extended through Avcılar. Indeed, Avcılar and İzmit, both located on the Marmara Sea coast along the rupture route, were strongly struck by the earthquake whereas the settlements between Avcılar and İzmit were much less affected. Therefore, this interpretation can explain the extraordinary damage in Avcılar, based on the newly discovered rupture of the NAFZ in the Marmara Sea. However, this suggestion needs to be confirmed by further seismological studies. 相似文献

Mineral resource evaluation requires defining grade domains of an ore deposit. Common practice in mineral resource estimation
consists of partitioning the ore body into several grade domains before the geostatistical modeling and estimation at unsampled
locations. Many ore deposits are made up of different mineralogical ensembles such as oxide and sulfide zone: being able to
model the spatial layout of the different grades is vital to good mine planning and management. This study addresses the application
of the plurigaussian simulation to Sivas (Turkey) gold deposits for constructing grade domain models that reproduce the contacts
between different grade domains in accordance with geologist’s interpretation. The method is based on the relationship between
indicator variables from grade distributions on the Gaussian random functions chosen to represent them. Geological knowledge
is incorporated into the model by the definition of the indicator variables, their truncation strategy, and the grade domain
proportions. The advantages of the plurigaussian simulation are exhibited through the case study. The results indicated that
the processes are seen to respect reproducing complex geometrical grades of an ore deposit by means of simulating several
grade domains with different spatial structure and taking into account their global proportions. The proposed proportion model
proves as simple to use in resource estimation, to account for spatial variations of the grade characteristics and their distribution
across the studied area, and for the uncertainty in the grade domain proportions. The simulated models can also be incorporated
into mine planning and scheduling. 相似文献

Textural characteristics are a major factor in determining the mechanical behaviour of rocks and in the prediction of performance of rock cutting and drilling equipment. The principal textural characteristics of rocks are grain size, grain shape, grain orientation, relative proportion of grains and matrix material which were herein quantitatively measured using a modern image analysis system. These features resulted in a texture coefficient represented by a single number for each rock specimen. In this study a range of both textural and mechanical data for a range of rock types are given with some of the textural determination methodology. Correlation between textural and physical properties are also highlighted. The results of drilling tests using polycrystalline diamond compact (pin and hybrid) and impregnated diamond core bits in the rocks are presented which demonstrate the influence of rock texture on drillability. The rock texture can be used as a predictive factor for assessing the drillability and cuttability, mechanical and wear performance of rocks. 相似文献

The Tsunami of August 17, 1999 in Izmit Bay,Turkey 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2

The Kocaeli 1999 Earthquake with an Mw = 7.4 caused major hazards throughout the NW of Turkey from Tekirdag to Bolu. Historical data indicates that some of the earthquakes around Izmit Bay have caused tsunamis. In this study, tsunami research for the Kocaeli 1999 Earthquake has been made also taking into consideration historical data. In this research more than about 70 data at 35 localities have been used to determine the tsunami evidences in the bay. Coastal observations indicated runups which were ranging from 1 to 2.5 m along the shores. However, the wave runups are more complex along the south coast due to the presence of coastal landslides (Deirmendere, Halidere, Ulasli, Karamürsel) and subsided areas (Kavakli to Yeniköy) along the shore. West of Yalova, evidence of tsunami rapidly diminished. In addition, possible tectonic mechanism has been determined by using 33 single-channel high-resolution digital seismic reflection profiles which were acquired following the Kocaeli 1999 Earthquake. As a result it has been determined that the Kocaeli Earthquake has created tsunami in Izmit Bay. 相似文献

Hydrogeochemistry, environmental isotopes and the origin of the Hamamayagi-Ladik thermal spring (Samsun,Turkey) 总被引:3,自引:3,他引:0
Hamamayagi thermal spring (HTS) is located along the North Anatolian Fault Zone. The thermal spring has a temperature of 36°C,
with total dissolved solids ranging from 485.6 to 508.5 mg/L. Hard, brittle, and gray limestones Permian aged are the reservoir
rocks of the HTS. δ18O–δ2H isotope ratios clearly indicate a meteoric origin for the waters. The δ34S value of sulfate in the thermal water is nearly 4.1‰ and implies a diagenetic environment characterized by reduced sulfur
compounds. The δ13C ratio for dissolved inorganic carbonate in the HTS lies between −1.78 and −1.62‰, showing that it originates from the dissolution
of fresh-water carbonates. Quartz geothermometry suggests a reservoir temperature of 52–85°C for the Hamamayagi geothermal
field, but chalcedony geothermometers suggest reservoir temperatures between 30 and 53°C. 相似文献
