Variations in the gravity field are introduced by mass or density redistribution in the vicinity of the measuring point as well as far field or global effects but also any crustal process which involves a height variation has a direct implication on the temporal variation of the gravity field. The measuring techniques involved in the WEGENER project include absolute and high precision relative gravity measurements and stationary measurements with superconducting gravity meters. The state of the art for both techniques is discussed and shown that systematic errors or the measurement of their changes can be detected by inter-comparison with other absolute gravimeters and frequently repeated measurements at a reference station monitored by a superconducting gravimeter. In the combination of the available gravity techniques it is possible to achieve a precision at the micro-Gal level for secular trends and a higher accuracy for period events which enable improvements in the modelling of environmental effects induced by ocean, atmospheric and ground water loading effects from the long term processes.  相似文献

Five species belonging to five genera and an unidentified rhynchonellid have been recognised in a Late Eocene (Priabonian) brachiopod assemblage from Castelnuovo in the Euganean Hills, north-eastern Italy. One genus and two species are new, i. e. Venetocrania euganea gen. et sp. nov. and “Terebratulaitalica sp. nov. Orthothyris pectinoides (von Koenen 1894) is recorded for the first time from Italy. The other species are Terebratulina sp. cf. T. tenuistriata (Leymerie 1846) and Lacazella mediterranea (Risso 1826), both already known from the Italian Eocene.  相似文献

The stratigraphic distribution of the principal Upper Cretaceous facies in Sardinia ispresented, with special reference to the eastern part of the Island. Included are remarks on the mid-Cretaceous tectonic activity, which marks the base of the Upper Cretaceous depositional cycle. The presence of Upper Santonian and Lower Maastrichtian (the latter represented by marls with sparse turbidite interbeds) in the Lanaitto syncline (Oliena) is documented. Both contain outer-shelf assemblages rich in planktic Foraminifera. Recognition of rare detrital glaucophane in the Maastrichtian sandstones suggests a source area affected by high-pressure metamorphism, possibly corresponding to the southward extension of alpine Corsica. The Tertiary conglomerates exposed near Oliena include pebbles of facies (Campanienand Upper Maastrichtian rudistid limestones with larger Foraminifera) unknown in outcrop. A preliminary study of the rudists suggests a faunal exchange between different palaeobio-geographical provinces belonging, respectively, to the West European and Adriatic Plates.A palaeontological appendix contains remarks on some representatives of the family Heterohelicidae and on one species of Gunnarites found in the Lower Maastrichtian.  相似文献

Apatite fission‐track analyses on samples from eastern Sardinia document a complex tectonic history, whose reconstruction is problematic because of the reactivation of faults and structures at different times from Jurassic to Miocene. The oldest ages (150–154 Ma) have been detected on the southern margin of the Gulf of Orosei and are related to the extensional tectonics that characterize the European passive margin during Early and Middle Jurassic times. Thermal modelling of these data allows reconstruction of the burial history of the Mesozoic basin and estimation of a sedimentary thickness of 2000 m. Part of these sediments was eroded during the following uplift, documented by mid‐Cretaceous fission‐track ages. A further exhumation episode of Eocene age has been revealed by fission‐track data on granite samples, and has been inferred to be related to the Alpine orogenic phase. This tectonic episode caused the exhumation of crustal blocks bound by faults that were finally reactivated during the Late Oligocene–Early Miocene.  相似文献
