The Sekanina-Farrell particle fragmentation model for the striated tails of dust comets is successfully applied to two images of comet Hale-Bopp to study the motions of 12 striae in a time span of March 12–15, 1997. There is evidence for recurring outbursts with a periodicity of 11h21m, consistent with results based on analysis of dust jets. The ejecta in all the striae appear to have been released from one source on the nucleus between the end of January and the second half of February 1997, some 60 to 40 days before perihelion. The parent particles were subjected to a radiation pressure acceleration of βp ≃ 0.55 and their fragmentation lifetimes in 11 of the 12 striae were practically constant and equal to 13–15 days, when normalized to 1 AU from the Sun. Brief analysis of Watanabe et al.'s measurements of striae on their images from March 5–9, 1997 shows even shorter fragmentation lifetimes for the parent particles, mostly about 7–11 days at1 AU. In Part I we focussed on a convergent representation of the gravitational potential generated bytopographic masses on top of the equipotential surface atMean Sea Level, thegeoid, and by those masses which compensate topography. Topographic masses have also been condensated, namely represented by a single layer. Part II extends the computation of the gravitational field of topographic-isostatic masses by a detailed analysis of itsforce field in terms ofvector-spherical harmonic functions. In addition, the discontinuous mass-condensated topographic gravitational force vector (head force) is given. Once we identify theMoho discontinuity asone interface of isostatically compensated topographical masses, we have computed the topographic potential and the gravitational potential which is generated by isostatically compensated masses atMean Sea Level, the geoid, and illustrated by various figures of geoidal undulations. In comparison to a data oriented global geoid computation ofJ. Engels (1991) the conclusion can be made that the assumption of aconstant crustal mass density, the basic condition for isostatic modeling, does not apply. Insteaddensity variations in the crust, e.g. betweenoceanic and continental crust densities, have to be introduced in order to match the global real geoid and its topographic-isostatic model. The spacetime gravitational field of a deformable body   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
The high-resolution analysis of orbit perturbations of terrestrial artificial satellites has documented that the eigengravitation of a massive body like the Earth changes in time, namely with periodic and aperiodic constituents. For the space-time variation of the gravitational field the action of internal and external volume as well as surface forces on a deformable massive body are responsible. Free of any assumption on the symmetry of the constitution of the deformable body we review the incremental spatial (“Eulerian”) and material (“Lagrangean”) gravitational field equations, in particular the source terms (two constituents: the divergence of the displacement field as well as the projection of the displacement field onto the gradient of the reference mass density function) and the `jump conditions' at the boundary surface of the body as well as at internal interfaces both in linear approximation. A spherical harmonic expansion in terms of multipoles of the incremental Eulerian gravitational potential is presented. Three types of spherical multipoles are identified, namely the dilatation multipoles, the transport displacement multipoles and those multipoles which are generated by mass condensation onto the boundary reference surface or internal interfaces. The degree-one term has been identified as non-zero, thus as a “dipole moment” being responsible for the varying position of the deformable body's mass centre. Finally, for those deformable bodies which enjoy a spherically symmetric constitution, emphasis is on the functional relation between Green functions, namely between Fourier-/ Laplace-transformed volume versus surface Love-Shida functions (h(r),l(r) versus h (r),l (r)) and Love functions k(r) versus k (r). The functional relation is numerically tested for an active tidal force/potential and an active loading force/potential, proving an excellent agreement with experimental results. Zusammenfassung Detaillierte kleintektonische Untersuchungen in Querschlägen auf 5 Tiefbau-Sohlen sowie einiger Bohrkerne und übertage-Aufschlüsse lassen die Konstruktion eines entsprechend genauen Querprofils (Tafel 1) zu. Der Faltenwurf ist ziemlich disharmonisch, offenbar im wesentlichen durch zahlreiche über- und Aufschiebungen bedingt; das gleiche gilt auch für die örtlich konstruierten Faltenspiegel 1. Ordnung. Der Vergenzgrad — abzulesen an der Neigung der Faltenachsen-Flächen bzw. der Schieferung — schwankt erheblich, und zwar zwischen 0 und ± 45 NW. Harnischmylonite und andere Verquarzungen treten vor allem im Zusammenhang mit über- und Aufschiebungen auf; sie scheinen z. T. auch mitgefaltet zu sein und damit eine langfristige bzw. wiederholte Durchbewegung des »Gebirges« anzudeuten.Das Querprofil wird räumlich ergänzt durch einen Horizontalschnitt auf der 4. Sohle mit einer darin eingezeichneten Längsprofil-Serie (Tafel 2).Die offensichtlich recht komplizierte innere Tektonik der Grube »Rosit« wird sodann in Beziehung zu bekannten Strukturen des Taunus zwischen Rhein und Idsteiner Senke gebracht. Offenbar besteht über dem südlichen Mittelrhein ein tektonisches Hoch.
Detailed local explorations of structural features (tectonic analysis) in cross-galaries of 5 underground levels, of some coredrillings and outcrops allow the construction of a corresponding detailed tectonical cross-section (Table 1). The fold structures are rather disharmonious what seems to be caused at all by numerous low-angle and high-angle reverse resp. thrust faults; this disharmony is indicated too by locally constructed fold envelopes. The degree of vergence — given by the dipping of axial planes or cleavages (vertical = 0) — differs in a considerable way from 0 to ± 45 NW. Laminated and slickensided quartz-layers and other quartz-formations seems to be connected at all with thrusts resp. reverse faults. Partly they appear ± folded what indicates a long or repeated deformation of rocks.The cross-section is completed 3-dimensionally by a horizontal section in the 4. level and by a series of longitudinal resp. striking sections (Table 2).Finally the obviously very complicated local features in the mine are brought in relations to the known structures of the Taunus between Rhine and Idsteiner Senke (depression of Idstein). It seems to exist an uplift in the southern part of the middle-Rhine.

Résumé L'application des méthodes structurales à petite échelle dans les travers-bancs de 5 étages souterrains, ainsi que sur quelques carottes et affleurements, a permis de construire une coupe transversale assez précise (Table 1). Le plissement est relativement disharmonique, disposition qui semble causée surtout par des failles de chevauchement et des charriages; cette disharmonie apparaÎt également dans les surfaces-enveloppes des plis qui ont été construites en quelques endroits. Le degré de vergence — indiqué par la pente des plans axiaux des plis, qui correspond à la schistosité (0 = vertical) — varie dans une large mesure depuis 0 jusque ±45 vers le Nord-Ouest. Des veines de quartz à stries de glissement, ainsi que d'autres accidents quartzeux, semblent pouvoir Être mis en relation avec les failles susdites; ces veines apparaissent partiellement plissées, ce qui indique des mouvements tectoniques de longue durée, ou des mouvements répétés.En vue d'une meilleure représentation tridimensionnelle, la coupe transversale est complétée par une coupe horizontale du 4me étage souterrain accompagnée d'une série de coupes longitudinales (Table 2).Les structures à petite échelle de la mine Rosit, qui sont en fait assez compliquées, sont mises en relation avec les structures connues dans le Taunus entre le Rhin et la dépression d'Idstein. Il semble exister une surélévation tectonique dans la partie méridionale du Rhin moyen.

Zusammenfassung Zunächst wird die offenbar überragende Bedeutung der Diagonal-Störungen in den untersuchten Dachschiefer-Gruben dargelegt. Es ergeben sich ferner sehr spitzwinklig zum tektonischen Streichen verlaufende Drehverschiebungen, die zur gleichartigen Verformung führen, wie auch die örtlich festgestellten Auf- und Überschiebungen sowie Schieferung und Faltung (gleiche Deformationsellipse). — Die Schieferung führt in extremen Fällen zu einer fast völligen Umschichtung (tektonische Mischung).In einem Querprofil des Faltenspiegels zwischen Hunsrück und SE-Eifel kommt besonders die Moselmulde (Form und Schichtmächtigkeiten) zur Darstellung.  相似文献

The basement of northern Nicaragua is still a great problem stratigraphically. Enclosed tuffits (mainly basic, partly also intermediate to acid) appear of importance for both petrology and sedimentology. Not in the least they are guide horizons for a more accurate mapping. The vast regional distribution, commonly proved yet, suggests that the composition of the basement is considerably uniform and it seems that they do not belong to different periods and formations. Structurally the region is exceedingly complicated. The folding direction as regards plication and overthrusts is mainly to the North, but partly also to the East. Probably the “Totogalpa formation” (fanglomerates, conglomerates and sandstones, mainly reddish) which follows disconformably over the basement, already indicated, belongs to the sequence of tertiary tuffites, agglomerates, lavas etc. as they conformably form a formation of uniform composition. The relation of basement to lower Cretaceous (marine Albian; “Metapan”), which follows immediately to the south, is less clear. The lower Cretacious shows intensive and complicated folding at Siuna and it appears almost unmetamorphosed (? basement in a wider sense). The marine sediments (upper Cretacious - Miocene) of South Nicaragua are orogenetically only slightly efected (folding direction to E-N). To the North follows a thick serie of Tertiary and Quarternary volcanites (initially mainly submarinal, later on continental). Together with the NW/SE lineaments (Nicaragua depression, lines of volcanoes, coast line in the SW etc.) also NS directed ones clearly appear (coastline in the East). This direction can be found e. g. in the “granite ridge of Susucayan” and the accompanying faults in the vicinity. These latter structures may have taken an active part in the development of the flexured border of the Nicaraguan depression NW of Managua.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Einleitend wird auf die vielfältige Problematik des Hunsrückschiefers hingewiesen. Hinsichtlich der Petro-Fazies ergibt sich ein Vorwalten der feinsandigen Komponente mit einem Feldspaltgehalt von durchschnittlich 10–13%. Die. Ergebnisse spektroskopischer und autoradiographischer Untersuchungen werden mitgeteilt. Die Mächtigkeit scheint in der SE-Eifel am größten zu sein und zum SE-Rand des Schiefergebirges hin ständig abzunehmen. Die Bio-Fazies wird vor allem hinsichtlich der sehr häufigen Fress-Bauten und Kriechspuren von Würmern behandelt, welche ein reiches Bodenleben im Hunsrückschiefer-Meer beweisen. Die Ansicht, daß der Hunsrückschiefer hauptsächlich aus Sedimenten eines Flach- und Wattenmeeres besteht, wurde bestätigt.  相似文献

Multiple regional chironomid–climate calibration datasets are available to reconstruct quantitatively July air temperatures from fossil chironomid assemblages. We examined the relationship between July air temperature and the 40 most common chironomid taxa in three independent Eurasian calibration (training) sets. The estimated temperature optimum of each chironomid taxon is systematically lower (by ~1–2 °C) in a Norwegian calibration set compared to Finnish and Russian calibration sets. This result might partly be explained by the fact that the Norwegian calibration set extends further at the cold end of the temperature gradient. A difference in continentality between the Russian sites and the European sites might also contribute to this pattern. The number of taxa that show a statistically significant unimodal response to temperature is higher in the Norwegian calibration set (34 out of 40 taxa) compared to the modern Finnish (11 of 37 taxa; 3 common taxa absent) and the Russian calibration set (20 of 40 taxa), probably due to the longer temperature gradient incorporated in the Norwegian calibration set. We applied all three calibration sets to fossil chironomid assemblages from the high-latitude study site of Sokli (northeast Finland), a site with a unique series of lacustrine deposits covering (amongst others) the Holocene, part of early MIS 3 (at ~53 ka) and MIS 5d–c (at ~110–95 ka) and with independent proxy-records for comparison. In the early Holocene and during MIS 5c, the chironomid-based temperature inferences from all three inference models had similar values. Temperature reconstructions based on the Norwegian calibration set are 2–4 °C lower for the late Holocene, early MIS 3 and MIS 5d than the inferred temperatures based on the other calibration sets. Although the lakes included in the Finnish calibration set are located closest to the site of Sokli, evaluation tests and a comparison with independent proxy data suggests that the Norwegian calibration set provides the most suitable analogues for reconstruction purposes for most of the fossil assemblages. Our results imply that when choosing a calibration set for quantitative climate reconstructions on glacial timescales, regional proximity of the fossil site may not be a sufficient basis, and the length of the temperature gradient of the calibration dataset and factors such as the continentality gradient covered by the calibration set must also be considered.  相似文献

A new formulation is presented for the perturbed Lambert problem. The formulation employs the variation-of-parameters method in the KS transformed state space to determine perturbations of a Keplerian Lambert solution. The approach is universal (in that its validity is not restricted to a particular energy domain). For the case of the second zonal harmonic (oblateness) perturbation, first order perturbations are carried out entirely analytically; non-iterative corrections are determined through solution of a pair of algebraic equations. For more general perturbations, numerical quadratures are required.  相似文献
