摘    要:1 INTRODUCTION Soil erosion is serious in Western China. With the implementation of a development strategy for western China, soil and water conservation and ecological restoration in western China earn more attention because economic development requires parallel efforts on ecological restoration. To protect the ecology of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, integrated management of sediment and ecological restoration are being conducted in Sichuan Province. The Yufeng Watershed…

Abstract:This paper provides first basic watershed information, including natural condition, social and economic status, soil loss, and watershed management; of the Yufeng watershed in south west China and target, scale, and general arrangement and location of measures for soil and water conservation of the watershed. Main restoration approaches are adjusting land-use practices; comprehensive control of hills, water, farmland, forests, and roads to improve the environment for vegetation species; rationalize the composition of forests; and development of three-dimensional agriculture. The approach also includes adjusting rural industrial structure, developing regional characteristic economy, establishing an industrial chain for regional economy, and developing green industry with promising market prospects. The investment budget and benefits also are analyzed, including soil and water control benefit, economic benefit, ecological benefit, and social benefit. The Geographical Information System (GIS) technique is applied to obtain and analyze information on the watershed, actual land use, and rural industry structure.
Keywords:Watershed  Sediment  Integrated management  Soil conservation  Ecology restoration
