The last few years there has been a growing number of body-wave observations in noise records. In 1973, Vinnik conjectured that P-waves would even be the dominant wavemode, at epicentral distances of about 40 degrees and onwards from an oceanic source. At arrays far from offshore storms, surface waves induced by nearby storms would not mask the body-wave signal and hence primarily P-waves would be recorded. We measured at such an array in Egypt and indeed found a large proportion of P-waves. At the same time, a new methodology is under development to characterize the lithosphere below an array of receivers, without active sources or local earthquakes. Instead, transmitted waves are used which are caused by distant sources. These sources may either be transient or more stationary. With this new methodology, called seismic interferometry, reflection responses are extracted from the coda of transmissions. Combining the two developments, it is clear that there is a large potential for obtaining reflection responses from low-frequency noise. A potential practical advantage of using noise instead of earthquake responses would be that an array only needs to be deployed for a few days or weeks instead of months, to gather enough illumination. We used a few days of continuous noise, recorded with an array in the Abu Gharadig basin, Egypt. We split up the record in three distinct frequency bands and in many small time windows. Using array techniques and taking advantage of all three-component recordings, we could unravel the dominant wavemodes arriving in each time window and in each frequency band. The recorded wavemodes, and hence the noise sources, varied significantly per frequency band, and – to a lesser extent – per time window. Primarily P-waves were detected on the vertical component for two of the three frequency bands. For these frequency bands, we only selected the time windows with a favorable illumination. By subsequently, applying seismic interferometry, we retrieved P-wave reflection responses and delineated reflectors in the crust, the Moho and possibly the Lehmann discontinuity.  相似文献

应用气枪震源子波模拟软件,针对海上常用的6子阵,进行了不同气枪阵列组合情形下的震源子波模拟试算,提出了适应深水区地震勘探要求的立体阵列组合和交错排列组合的气枪阵列.子波模拟试算结果表明,多子阵立体阵列的设计能优化震源子波,同时,将传统的子阵列排列改成交错排列,将气枪阵列的大容量气枪放置在子阵中间位置可以明显提高子波性能,为深水区复杂地质结构条件下的震源设计参数优化提供理论依据.  相似文献

为了评估观测质量,本文结合大柏舍地震台电测深资料,采用水平层状介质模型分析了该台站对称四极装置深井地电阻率观测时影响系数随电极深度和观测极距的变化。分析结果表明:大柏舍台现有的深井地电阻率观测水平测道虽然能有效地抑制来自地表的干扰,但是由于观测极距较小,不能很好地反映深部介质电阻率的变化信息;垂直测道因电极埋深位于地下水位变动层位,观测数据受地下水位波动影响较大,较难识别来自深部介质的信息。为有效地记录可能的孕震信息,水平测道极距AB/2取250~350 m、埋深H>150 m能满足需求,并建议增加NS向水平测道观测。  相似文献

多年冻土区输电线路塔基基础附近活动层厚度和地下冰变化与基础稳定性密切相关,塔基施工的热扰动和混凝土基础的热效应使得基础周围冻土易发生退化,不利于基础的稳定。高密度电法是冻土工程环境研究中常用的地球物理方法,其探测结果的可靠性和分辨能力受数据采集方式、目标体地电结构影响。为减小对输电线路塔基附近冻土特征识别的不确定性,通过建立基础周围多年冻土地电模型的正反演模拟,发现活动层处于融化状态时各种装置方式数据采集均能较好地反映活动层厚度的起伏,但由于冻融锋面附近显著的电阻率差异,难以识别多年冻土层内的地下冰空间分布特征。而活动层处于冻结状态时进行探测能显著提高对多年冻土层内的地下冰空间分布特征识别精度,其中偶极-偶极装置可较好地识别高、低含冰量区域的发育位置和形态特征。在青藏直流输电线路塔基基础附近冻土探测中证实了方法的有效性,探测结果揭示了施工过程和基础热效应导致的塔基基础附近的地下冰退化。以上研究表明,通过正反演模拟,根据具体探测目标选择合适的探测时机和数据采集方式,能显著提高高密度电法探测结果的有效性和精度。  相似文献

The formation of highly phosphatized soils on sites of avian activity is a common feature of oceanic islands. We characterized a toposequence of phosphatic soils on Rata Island, to evaluate the soil genesis based on local topographic variations. For this purpose, four soils ranging from the upper hill down to the lowest landscape position on the island, representing a range of parent materials (basalt and calcareous sands), were analyzed. In the lowest landscape position a shallow Regosol was identified, strongly influenced by birds and marine sprays, developed on “karstified” Pleistocene calcarenites; the three other soils in the upper part of the toposequence are Ornithogenic Cambisols, ranging from a deep Cambisol profile on Basalt lava to intermediate Cambisols on mixed colluvial sediments of the basalt/calcareous. The lowermost Regosol is associated with a rugged landscape with strong calcarenite dissolution and karstification. The soil phosphatization is clearly an inherited process of the Late Quaternary age, when climate conditions were different. Initial weathering took place in the last interglacial period, under wetter conditions during which the Tertiary basalts were strongly weathered, leaving corestones in a saprolitic, oxidized mass. In the late Pleistocene, a gentle surface distributed these weathering products along the pediment slopes as colluvial materials, whereas in the coastal areas aeolian processes formed large sand dunes composed of reworked calcareous sands from marine sources during a time of very low sea level. During this time, widespread bird activity accounted for secondary apatite formation on the surface of calcareous oolites. Finally, the Holocene warming was accompanied by increasing sea level, enhanced tropical weathering, Fe and Al mobility and variscite formation superimposed on degraded Ca-phosphates, forming two phase phosphatic aggregates.  相似文献

We hypothesize that the weathering of building stones can be attributed to surface dissolution processes. We assume that chemical interactions occur on grain boundaries and/or microcracks and that diffusion is the controlling process. A dissolution layer (rind) develops adjacent to the weathering surface. We quantify the extent of dissolution by introducing a damage variable f; f=0 for pristine rock, and when f=1 the rock disintegrates. We assume that the variations of the damage variable are given by the diffusion equation. We solve two problems. The first is for the structure of the transient dissolution boundary layer prior to surface disintegration. We find an incubation time ti, before active weathering (disintegration) begins. The second is the solution for steady-state weathering with a constant weathering velocity vw. Our results are entirely consistent with weathering studies on Carrara marble gravestones in the United Kingdom. Typical incubation times are ti=20–30 years, and typical steady-state weathering velocities are vw=5–50 m year–1.  相似文献

With the increasing availability of data, geo-sciences have experienced deep changes in handling and processing it. One of the presently explored research directions concerns the systematic decomposition and understanding of topographical features, without the subjective interactions of humans. This can eventually lead to fully automated algorithms for topographic analysis and understanding. This paper aims at being a contribution to this broad research area for the specific cases of stratovolcanoes, whose general geometry are very similar to a perfect cone. More specifically, this paper addresses two issues: (1) is it possible to separate erosion features (local variations) from structural features (large variations) on stratovolcanoes, through mathematical expression; (2) can information on volcanic activity??intensity, age, etc.??be retrieved from a topographic analysis? The study has been conducted from two volcanoes in Central Java (Indonesia): the Merapi and the Merbabu. The DEM of these volcanoes has been sampled using concentric circles with a radius ranging from 500 to 5,000?m (horizontal distance) to the summit. The data conversion and sampling was performed in ArcMap?, while the data analysis was carried out with Matlab?, using Discrete Meyer wavelet decomposition. Results provide an insight on large-scale topographic variations (long-wave wavelet) that have been separated from rapidly varying topographic features such as lahar channels (short-wave wavelets). Observations proved that flanks where the most recent volcanic activity occur??like at Merapi Volcano on the S-SE flank??present a very low variability of long-wave variations, whereas short-wave variations are important. The author argues that this feature is due to highly erosive lahars that dig the valleys combined with a recent production of material and volcanic growth keeping the overall structure regular. Flanks with lesser activity are characterized at the two volcanoes by important long-wave variations??most certainly due to long-term differential erosion??and different level of short-waves variations. Comparing the two volcanoes, results show that the valleys of Merapi and Merbabu volcanoes are deeply incised, indicating recent periods of high activity, with reworkable material eroded by lahars and other channels deepening processes. The topography of the summit area of Merapi Volcano is smoother than at Merbabu Volcano, where deep erosion features extend up to the summit area. This difference is most certainly due by the material production at the summit of Merapi Volcano. Developing such classification is important for automated mapping and computer recognition of volcanic past activities and their impacts on landscapes. It is the based for the development of decision trees that assist computer assisted and automated computer vision.  相似文献

敦煌莫高窟北区岩体长期以来在特殊的地形地貌、气象水文、岩土性质、地质构造条件下,受人工开挖、重力、风蚀、雨蚀和洪水冲刷等共同作用,岩体发生风化、卸荷等变异以及崩塌、坍塌和危岩、开裂与裂隙(构造裂隙、卸荷裂隙)等多种变形,严重影响岩体的稳定和洞窟的安全。针对上述变异、变形破坏情况,采用PS材料加粉煤灰浆液灌浆封闭裂隙和岩面喷浆加固相结合的修复方法,有效地防止了岩体变异的进一步扩展和表面风化的加剧,减少了岩体变形和表面风化程度,使石窟得以保护和修复。该方法对黄土及干旱地区石窟保护具有良好的借鉴作用。  相似文献

Regional topographic and geomorphic analyses reveal first-order topographic variations from high-elevation and low-relief interior plateau to the relatively low elevation, high-relief marginal plateau in eastern Tibet. Field investigation and slip distribution modeling after 2008 Ms. 8.0 Wenchuan earthquake indicate significant along-strike variability during the rupture that appears to correspond to different segments of a single fault system. This observation motivates a more careful examination of topographic features along the Longmen Shan to explore the connection between the seismic cycle and mountain building. Analyses of topographic relief, hillslope gradient, and channel gradient indices reveal significant differences in the character of topography along the Longmen Shan mountain front. The central portion of the range exhibits the highest slope, relief and steepness of river longitudinal profiles. Whereas the southern Longmen Shan exhibits only subtle differences associated with slightly lower hillslope and channel gradients, the northern Longmen Shan is characterized by topography of significantly lower relief, lessened hillslope gradients, and low-gradient channels. We consider two explanations for these topographic differences; first, that the differences in topographic development along the Longmen Shan reflect different stages of an evolutionary history. Alternatively, these may reflect differences in the rate of differential rock uplift relative to the stable Sichuan Basin.  相似文献

Seismic waves traveling in the water/sediment or sub-bottom sediment interface have been the subject of considerable interest in underwater acoustics in recent years. Some progress has been made in understanding the propagation and attenuation characteristics of interface waves in different geological environments. However, the generating mechanisms are poorly understood. In particular, what is the acoustic-seismic energy conversion process? As seismic waves involve both time and space parameters it should be able to relate directly the propagation characteristics of the ocean bottom interface waves to the shear properties of the sediments over the propagation area. To address these problems we have applied the wavelet correlation method (WCR) to examine the variations of bottom characteristics and their role in coupling waterborne sound into the sea bottom. To confirm the validity of the developed modeling technique, we applied the wavelet correlation analysis for synthetic seismograms and field data. In this discussion paper we present images of the first and second shear modes and the interface wave component as a function of arrival time and frequency. We also discuss the possibility of inverting phase and group velocity information directly from the wavelet cross-correlation function and propose the way of using the WCR method to predict physical dynamic parameters of marine sediments.  相似文献

The rare earth elements (REE) are a group of 17 metals that include the lanthanides, Sc and Y, which are critical for many modern technologies including consumer electronics, medicine and communication. One of the major controls on the concentrations of the REE in regolith material (including soils) is the abundance of these elements in the parent material. It is known that REE concentrations are largely inherited from the protolith rather than acquired during pedogenic processes but our understanding of how pedogenesis affects fractionation and accumulation of REE to produce potentially economic deposits of these critical metals is limited. This study provides a review of (1) the biogeochemical controls on REE distribution and mobility during pedogenesis and (2) the potential for REE extraction from regolith material. Factors that control mobilisation of REE during weathering include (1) the initial distribution of the REE in protolith minerals and the resistivity of these phases to weathering, (2) adsorption and absorption of REE to Fe- and Mn oxides, clay minerals and organic matter and (3) variations in pH and Eh conditions. We also discuss the relative importance of biogeochemical controls on REE mobility in soils in southern Australia, where REE concentrations are demonstrated to be largely a function of weathering of REE-enriched protoliths, the sorption of REE to weathering products and the accumulation of resistant minerals in soils.  相似文献

The relevance of research underlies in the fact that numerical models of technogenic rock arrays can predict and evaluate structural and mechanical properties, which are very difficult or even impossible to study instrumentally. It is possible to simulate the technogenic rock array’s structure by the method of discrete elements, where each particle in the array structure is described separately. The article contains the method of numerical simulation of structure of bulk disjointed rock array, describes the basic initial and boundary conditions of the model; represents the visualization of numerical model of the array created with peripheral dumping (as the array with more textured and visual segregated granulometric composition). The ways of application of technogenic rock array numerical modeling in the mining process are described. Comparative analysis of real and simulated array structure shows the adequacy of the numerical model and the algorithm developed for its creation. In addition, the adequacy of the model is supported by a high convergence of the experimental and calculated dependence of the filtration rate values upon the particle size distribution of technogenic rock arrays.  相似文献

Naturally weathered olivine occurring as phenocrysts in Hawai’ian volcanic rocks from several volcanic centers and regolith/outcrop settings, and as tectonized olivines from several metadunite bodies in the southern Appalachian Blue Ridge, are all similarly corroded by natural weathering. Conical (funnel-shaped) etch pits occur as individual pits, base-to-base pairs of cone-shaped pits, or en echelon arrays. Etch-pit shapes and orientations in the smallest etch-pit arrays visible in conventional scanning electron microscopy resemble even smaller features previously reported from transmission electron microscope investigations of olivine weathering. Etch pits occur in samples with chemical and/or mineralogical evidence of weathering, and/or are associated with, or proximal or directly connected to, fractures or exposed outcrop surface, and therefore are formed by weathering and not inherited from pre-weathering aqueous alteration (e.g., serpentinization, iddingsitization) of these parent rocks. Many etch pits are devoid of weathering products. Natural weathering of olivine is surface-reaction-limited. Similarity of corrosion forms from naturally weathered olivine from multiple igneous and metamorphic parent-rock bodies suggests that olivine weathers in the same manner regardless of its specific crystallization/recrystallization history, eruption/weathering/exposure ages of the olivine’s host rock, and the local regolith history.  相似文献

Recurrence characteristics of a Quaternary fault are generally investigated on the basis of field properties that are rapidly degraded by chemical weathering and erosion in warm humid climates. Here we show that in intense weathering environments, mineralogical and micromorphological investigations are valuable in paleoseismological reconstruction. A weathering profile developed in Late Quaternary marine terrace deposits along the southeastern coast of the Korean Peninsula was disturbed by tectonic movement that appears to be a simple one-time reverse faulting event based on field observations. A comparative analysis of the mineralogy, micromorphology, and chemistry of the weathering profile and fault gouge, however, reveals that both the microfissures in the deformed weathering profile and larger void spaces along the fault plane were filled with multi-stage accumulations of illuvial clay and silt minerals of detrital origin, suggesting a repetition of fissuring and subsequent sealing in the weathering profile as it underwent continuous mineralogical transformation and particle translocation. We reconstruct a sequence of multiple faulting events unrecognized in previous field surveys, which requires revision of the view that the Korean Peninsula was tectonically stable, during the Late Quaternary.  相似文献

This work presents a geomorphometric approach for outlining anomalies of the topographic surface that may be related to geological structures or to geomorphological phenomena. It is based on 2D discrete wavelet transform of digital elevation models. This transform is used to extract singularities of a series of data. This is specifically applied to a digital elevation model, in order to get its detail coefficients and to have evidence about their variations and values. In particular, this approach can be helpful for the delineation and identification of landforms singularities, like landslides and geological structures. The potential and effectiveness of this approach is shown by an application to a case study about a large deep-seated landslide, located at the central-south front of the Apennine in South Italy.  相似文献

Near-surface diffractors are one of the problems in land seismic exploration. They can scatter the surface wave energy emanating from the seismic source and contaminate the signal received by seismic receivers. The scattered energy from the near-surface diffractors manifests itself on seismic shot gathers as strong hyperbolic events, called diffractions, masking the weakly reflected body waves. Diffractions present complications to most of surface-wave suppression schemes, especially when they have been scattered by scatterers outside the receiver line. Different methods have been used to eliminate diffractions from seismic data, including geophone arrays, filtering, and inverse scattering. Each of those methods has its own limitations. In this study, we present processing algorithms to map and attenuate near-surface diffractors of surface waves in seismic shot gathers. The mapping algorithm is based on semblance measurements and time–offset relations, while the attenuation algorithm is based on the least-square fitting of a source wavelet. The algorithms are applied on synthetic data from two different models. The first model has three near-surface diffractors, while the second model has three clusters of near-surface diffractors. Each cluster consists of three near-surface diffractors with a different geometry for each cluster. The results show that the proposed algorithms are successful in locating and attenuating most near-surface diffractors, except when the separation between individual diffractors is below the wavelength of the diffracted surface wave.  相似文献

滇西临沧花岗岩中段岩性主体为黑云母二长花岗岩,是离子吸附型稀土矿的天然成矿母岩。研究区湿热的气候使得在地势相对平缓的中山地区形成巨厚的花岗岩风化带,依据风化程度由地表至基岩依次分为腐殖土层、亚黏土层、全风化层、半风化层、弱风化层和新鲜基岩。全风化层是本区离子吸附型稀土矿的主要赋矿层位,该层位元素地球化学特征显示,经过风化后稀土元素发生了富集和分馏,稀土矿化是以轻稀土为主。轻稀土又以La和Ce这两种元素为主。依据本区不同地貌类型建立了倾缓的山脊、平缓的山顶和低缓的山丘3种离子吸附型稀土矿成矿模式。  相似文献
