酒泉早白垩世半地堑断陷呈南北向或北东向展布,进一步分为多米诺骨牌式、对倾式和背倾式三种。其充填物明显地受近南北向或北东向正断裂控制,其中的火山岩均为碱性玄武岩,可能由地幔熔融形成。初步认为,酒泉半地堑断陷是早白垩世陆内地幔热隆诱发的近南北向伸展构造。在新生代,由于印度板块的挤压作用,北祁连山前展式北向推覆作用可能使早白垩世半地堑断陷的南部地区转换成山脉,现今的半地堑南部边界被掩伏于北祁连山之下;同时,印度板块的挤压作用使控制半地堑沉积体系的近南北向或北东向正断裂转换为逆冲断裂.发生反转。  相似文献

宁芜火山岩盆地边缘主要由北东和北西向边界断裂构成。西界为长江破碎带,发育早,属张扭性,切割较浅;东界为方山—小丹阳断裂,属压扭性,切割较深;南、北边界均属扭性,发育最晚。新生代玄武岩喷发受边界断裂性质及其构造演化控制,分三期:早期始于早第三纪,沿长江破碎带分布,属高铝拉斑玄武岩,生成较浅;中期喷发于晚第三纪,主要沿方山—小丹阳断裂分布,先后为响碧玄岩—碱性橄榄玄武岩,多幔源二辉橄榄岩包体、捕虏晶及下伏岩层碎块,生成很深;晚期喷发属早更新世,以富钛响碧空岩为主,受北西及东西向断裂交叉点控制。经计算比较,本区玄武岩不具备找金刚石矿产的前景,但从一些岩筒中深部地层碎块看,盆缘地带仍可能是寻找宁芜盆地本身深部铁矿的目标区。  相似文献

东昆仑巴颜喀拉浊积盆地内沿扎拉依-哥琼尼洼断裂带及约古宗列断裂带的断夹块内出露有一套二叠纪马尔争组火山岩, 火山岩呈构造岩片形式产出, 扎拉依-哥琼尼洼断裂带火山岩岩石组合主要为玄武岩、玄武安山岩, 少量玄武岩具枕状构造, 岩石SiO2含量均匀, TiO2的含量较高, ALK的含量较低, 为拉斑系列的玄武岩, 玄武岩稀土总量较高, 稀土配分曲线为轻稀土富集型, 与洋岛型火山岩的稀土配分曲线相一致, 火山岩大离子亲石元素较富集, 高场强元素及重稀土元素较平坦, 稀土、微量元素特征及构造环境判别显示其形成于较富集的洋岛环境, 少数为洋中脊的构造环境.约古宗列断裂带火山岩岩石组合为玄武岩、玄武安山岩, 岩石SiO2含量较高, TiO2含量较低, 均 < 1%, 为钙碱性系列火山岩, 玄武安山岩的稀土配分曲线与扎拉依-哥琼尼洼断裂带一致, 而英安岩的轻稀土富集程度高, 与岛弧高钾安山岩的稀土配分曲线相吻合, 构造环境判别显示其形成于岛弧构造环境.根据扎拉依-哥琼尼洼断裂带两侧火山岩成分的差异以及断裂带两侧巴颜喀拉群碎屑物成分的差异, 可以把巴颜喀拉山三叠纪浊积盆地进一步划分为北亚带和南亚带.   相似文献

通过断裂发育及分布特征、火山岩中天然气分布规律和二者之间时空匹配关系研究得到,徐家围子断陷主要发育徐西早期走滑伸展断裂系统、徐中走滑长期活动断裂系统、徐东走滑断裂系统、早期伸展晚期张扭长期活动断裂系统以及晚期张扭断裂系统。断裂的主要活动时期为火石岭组至营三段沉积时期和泉头组沉积晚期至青山口组沉积时期。火山岩中天然气分布具有纵向分布层位多、深度范围大和平面上分布于生气凹陷内或附近,且沿断裂带分布的特征。断裂对火山岩天然气成藏与分布的控制作用表现在:火山岩天然气源岩的形成与分布,火山岩体和其内部裂缝形成与分布,火山岩天然气藏形成的层位及火山岩圈闭的形成与分布。  相似文献

Ordovician rocks of the Lachlan Orogen consist of two major associations, mafic to intermediate volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks (Macquarie Arc), which aerially comprise several north–south-trending belts, and the quartz-rich turbidite succession. Relationships between these associations are integral to resolving their tectonic settings and opinions range between contacts being major thrusts, combinations of various types of faults, and stratigraphic contacts with structural complications. Stratigraphic contacts between these associations are found with volcaniclastic-dominant units overlying quartz-turbidite units along the eastern boundary of the eastern volcanic belt and along the southern boundary of the central volcanic belt. Mixing between these major associations is limited and reflects waning quartzose turbidite deposition along a gently sloping sea floor not penetrating steeper volcaniclastic aprons that were developing around the growing volcanic centres formed during late Middle Ordovician to early Silurian Macquarie Arc igneous activity. An island arc setting has been most widely supported for the Macquarie Arc, but the identification and polarity of the associated subduction zone remain a contentious issue particularly for the Early Ordovician phase of igneous activity. The Macquarie Arc initiated within a Cambrian backarc formed by sea-floor spreading behind a boninitic island arc and presumably reflects a renewed response to regional convergence as subduction ceased along the Ross–Delamerian convergent boundary at the East Gondwana continental margin. An extensional episode accompanied initiation of the late Middle Ordovician expansion in island arc development. A SSE-dipping subduction zone is considered to have formed the Macquarie Arc and underwent anticlockwise rotation about an Euler pole at the western termination of the island arc. This resulted in widespread deformation west of the Macquarie Arc in the Benambran Orogeny and development of subduction along the eastern margin of the orogenic belt.  相似文献

郯庐断裂带中南段新生代火山活动主要发生在古近纪、中新世和更新世3个阶段,前者出现在断裂带的伸展活动中,后两者出现在挤压活动中。随着时代变新,玄武岩碱性逐渐增强,轻、重稀土元素分离程度及不相容元素富集程度也逐渐增强。Sr、Nd同位素显示,源区地幔具有轻微富集型(EMⅠ)→洋岛型→洋中脊型的演化规律。断裂带所影响的地幔发生了地幔剪切变形及显著的交代作用,两者相互促进。断裂带在新生代演化中切割深度不断加大,火山源区不断加深,现今已切穿了整个岩石圈。断裂带在新生代软流圈上隆的背景下,经过地幔剪切、减压、地幔交代及部分熔融等深部过程,从而出现了大规模的玄武岩喷发。  相似文献

新疆东准噶尔北部青格里河下游花岗岩类的时代及地质意义   总被引:18,自引:3,他引:18  
选取新疆东准噶尔北部青格里河下游一带乌图布拉克、阿热勒托别和哈旦逊岩体等具一定规模的3个代表性岩体,通过全岩Rb-Sr等时线同位素定年,确定了研究区内玛音鄂博断裂南侧花岗岩类的形成时代分别为(334.1±9.5)M a、(300±9)M a和(280±12)M a,其初始87Sr/86Sr比值分别为0.704 33、0.704 35和0.703 84。结果表明研究区内花岗岩分别形成于华力西中晚期的不同阶段。乌图布拉克岩体形成于早石炭世,为碰撞造山作用晚期的钙碱性花岗岩,可能是早泥盆世富Nb玄武岩部分熔融的产物;结合前人厘定的板块俯冲时间(408~376 M a),推测西伯利亚板块与哈萨克斯坦—准噶尔板块的碰撞时限为376~334 M a。阿热勒托别岩体形成于后碰撞拉张环境,可能是形成于岛弧环境的中基性火山岩部分熔融的产物;哈旦逊岩体虽然也形成于后碰撞拉张环境,但拉张程度更高,属于与岩浆底侵作用有关的花岗岩类。  相似文献

大兴安岭南段二叠系大石寨组发育两套火山岩,即林西地区拉斑玄武岩系列的细碧-角斑岩类和大石寨地区钙碱性岩石系列玄武岩和玄武安山岩类。细碧岩的主元素以富铁为特征,成分类似于N-MORB,微量元素表现为岛弧拉斑玄武岩的地球化学特征。细碧岩类形成于大石寨裂陷槽强烈拉张的中心位置,是地幔源区较高程度部分熔融的产生。大石寨地区玄武岩和玄武安山岩类的化学成分表现为大陆缘弧火山岩的地球化学特点,形成于大石寨裂隙槽拉张中心以外的环境,是地幔物质较低程度部分熔融和地壳物质严重混染的产物。大石寨裂隙槽中火山岩的这种独特的成分和组合特点可能反映了裂隙槽的形成是一个快速而短暂的强烈拉张过程。  相似文献

The metabasites and mylonitic granites of the East and South East of Chadegan in the Isfahan province are a part of the Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone. This region is a large-scale ductile shear zone which has experienced different phases of deformation and dynamothermal metamorphism. There are at least three phases of deformation in this area. During the first phase which was related to the subduction of the Neotethys oceanic lithosphere under the Iranian microcontinent, the study rocks have experienced regional metamorphism. The second deformational phase was concurrent with the collision between the Arabian plate and the Iranian plate in the Late Cretaceous and caused mylonitization of the metamorphic rocks. The NW–SE trending fold and thrust faults have formed in this stage. The mylonitization have been formed along the dextral transpressional faults. During the third stage of deformation and exhumation of the metamorphic complex, the mylonitic zones have been uplifted to the surface. In this the deformation phase, developed the current morphology of the rocks. The granites have been injected along the extensional shear zones related to the dextral transpressional displacements. These granites are related to the continental collision granites type and have been formed synchronous to the collision between the Arabian and the Iranian plate. Enrichment in LREEs comparison to HREEs and the negative Eu anomaly in the primitive mantle-normalized spidergram and Chondrite-normalized REE patterns support an intra-crustal origin for these granites. Upper continental crust-normalized REE patterns show that in terms of LREEs, are similar to Upper continental crust.  相似文献

张八岭隆起广泛分布的平缓韧性剪切带与郯庐断裂带平移作用形成的陡立韧性剪切带明显不同。通过对平缓韧性剪切带的几何学、运动学分析,结合早白垩世盆地特征、中国东部变质核杂岩伸展拆离断层和同构造岩浆岩同位素定年结果,厘定出张八岭隆起早白垩世变质核杂岩。该变质核杂岩上盘由南华纪-奥陶纪沉积地层和早白垩世盆地组成,下盘为新元古代浅变质碎屑沉积岩、变海相火山岩(基底)以及早白垩世侵入岩,上下盘之间被一条主伸展拆离断层所分隔。变质核杂岩长轴为NE-SW向,指示构造反映上盘向SE剪切滑动,与中国东部变质核杂岩的伸展方向完全一致。通过本次变质核杂岩的厘定,结合野外地质事实,笔者认为管店-马厂断裂是郯庐断裂带的次级断裂,是对郯庐断裂带早白垩世末第三次左行平移的响应。在综合研究的基础上,建立了区域构造-岩浆-成矿关系模型,揭示了张八岭隆起早白垩世经历了早期伸展(变质核杂岩阶段)-挤压走滑(管店-马厂断裂形成阶段)-晚期伸展(闪长质脉岩侵位阶段)3个构造阶段,多期构造、岩浆的叠加作用下,形成了本区的金多金属矿产。  相似文献

On the western and southern margins of the sickle shaped Vindhyan basin of north Indian shield, there are basal Vindhyan mafic volcanic rocks referred to as Khairmalia volcanics and Jungel volcanics respectively. These volcanics vary in composition from low-Ti tholeiite to high-Ti alkali basalt showing close affinity with continental flood basalts (CFB) and ocean island basalts (OIB) respectively. The parental magmas of Khairmalia and Jungel alkali basalts were formed by different degrees of partial melting of a garnet lherzolite. The magma of Khairmalia tholeiites was generated by a relatively higher degrees of partial melting of a garnet + spinel lherzolite. The geochemical data coupled with available geological and geophysical data favour a rift type origin of this basin which evolved as a peripheral basin showing many similarities with Paleogene Himalayan foreland basin. The existing radiometric age data suggest that the origin of Vindhyan basin is linked with Aravalli–Satpura orogeny. At about 1800–1600 Ma collision occurred along the Aravalli-Delhi fold belt (ADFB) and Central Indian Tectonic Zone (CITZ) with west and south subduction respectively. During this process the subducting lithosphere suffered extensional deformation on its convex side and some pre-existing large faults in the already thin leading edge of subducted plate also reactivated and tapped magma generated by decompressional melting of the subcontinental mantle. The simultaneous processes such as flexural subsidence, reactivation of pre-existing faults, heating, thermal cooling and contraction during volcanism, resulted in the formation of curvilinear warp parallel to the emerging mountain front. The Lower Vindhyan volcano–sedimentary succession was deformed and exposed to erosion before the deposition of Upper Vindhyan rocks. The orogenic forces were active intermittently throughout the Vindhyan sedimentation.  相似文献

腾冲地块高地热异常区清水左所营初糜棱岩化黑云母二长花岗岩岩体、新华黑石河热田强糜棱岩化黑云母二长花岗岩岩体、热海热田硫磺塘硅化碎裂正长花岗岩岩体变形变质、岩石地球化学及锆石年代学的研究表明,晚白垩世(73Ma)初糜棱岩化黑云母二长花岗岩岩体为高温钾玄质强过铝花岗岩,形成于活动大陆边缘火山弧-后碰撞转换或过渡构造环境,并经历强烈伸展变形作用,普遍发育早期近水平-低角度(30°)韧性伸展剪切糜棱面理,局部发育晚期高角度右旋走滑挤压韧性糜棱面理;始新世(48~46Ma)强糜棱岩化黑云母二长花岗岩岩体、硅化碎裂正长花岗岩岩体为中-高温钾玄质强过铝花岗岩,并具铝质A型花岗岩特征,形成于后碰撞-板内构造环境,以发育晚期高角度(70°~87°)右旋走滑挤压韧性糜棱面理为特征,其右旋走滑韧性剪切变形时代晚于始新世(48~46Ma)。晚白垩世-始新世钾玄质强过铝花岗岩的形成与俯冲-碰撞造山隆升后的伸展垮塌、拆沉地幔物质上涌玄武质岩浆底侵和地壳部分熔融作用密切相关。始新世-第四纪岩浆活动与高地热异常区(带)空间上密切伴生,新近纪晚期-第四纪构造活动主要表现为脆性走滑-拉张正断层和构造拉分断陷盆地的形成,构造断陷边界断裂与深部岩浆活动是导致腾冲地区高地热异常区(带)中-高温地热温泉沿走滑-拉张断裂带集中分布的主要原因。  相似文献

中国东南部晚中生代-新生代玄武岩与壳幔作用   总被引:46,自引:2,他引:44  
中国东南部的火山活动在早中生代时期仅有很小规模,晚中生代最早的、较大规模的岩浆活动始于中侏罗世早期,至早白垩世是火山岩浆活动的鼎盛期,在近100个Ma的时间内形成了大面积分布的晚中生代火山-侵入岩,而在新生代则以面积较小的玄武岩浆喷出活动为主,局限分布于沿海一带。以晚中生代湘南、赣南和闽西南的近EW向火山岩带和浙、闽沿海地区的近NNE向火山岩带,以及新生代近NNE向火山岩带为研究对象,对这些火山岩的地球化学特征对比研究,结合时空分布,讨论了它们的起源及其与壳幔相互作用的关系,以及它们形成的构造环境,其结果显示,EW向晚中生代火山岩带(180~170Ma)的西段玄武岩独立产出,且明显属碱性系列;而中段和东段玄武岩和流纹岩伴生,其中的玄武岩均为亚碱性系列的拉斑玄武岩。它们形成于板内拉张构造环境,是中国东南部特提斯构造域向太平洋构造域转换、晚中生代大规模岩浆作用的序幕。研究表明,该火山岩带自西向东表现出不同程度的壳幔相互作用,玄武岩在成岩过程中有少量陆壳组分加入。NNE向晚中生代火山岩带(130~90Ma)主要为流纹质岩石,安山岩和玄武岩很少。即使是双峰式火山岩也以酸性岩为主,玄武岩仅占全部火山岩体积的30%以下。其中的玄武岩主要属钙碱性系列,少数属拉斑系列。它们形成于火山弧构造环境,是中国东南部受太平洋构造域影响发生大规模火山岩浆作用的主旋律。其中玄武岩岩浆成分受到了较高程度的陆壳物质混染,同时代的中性火山岩是由底侵的玄武岩岩浆和陆壳物质来源的酸性岩浆发生岩浆混合作用而形成的,反映了强烈的壳幔相互作用。NNE向新生代火山岩带,分布在浙闽沿海,以碱性系列玄武岩为主,均含幔源包体,并受NNE向大陆边缘断裂构造的控制。它们形成于板内裂谷环境,是中国东南沿海由晚中生代火山弧构造环境转换为新生代板内裂谷环境的标志,起源于软流圈地幔,并有EMII岩石圈地幔的混合组分,但基本没有受到陆壳物质的混染。  相似文献

黑龙江省东部松嫩—张广才岭地块与佳木斯地块之间的演化历史以及古亚洲洋构造体系与环太平洋构造体系的叠加与转化一直是地学领域研究的热点问题之一。依据该区古生代—早中生代火成岩的年代学与岩石组合研究,结合碎屑锆石的年代学研究成果,讨论了松嫩—张广才岭地块与佳木斯地块之间的演化历史以及两大构造体系叠加与转化的时间。锆石U-Pb定年结果表明:黑龙江省东部古生代—早中生代岩浆作用可划分成8期:早奥陶世(485Ma)、晚奥陶世(450Ma)、中志留世(425Ma)、中泥盆世(386Ma)、早二叠世(291Ma)、中二叠世(268 Ma)、晚三叠世(201~228 Ma)以及早侏罗世(184 Ma)。早奥陶世—中志留世,岩浆作用主要分布在松嫩—张广才岭地块的东缘,并呈南北向带状展布,主要由闪长岩-英云闪长岩-二长花岗岩组成,显示活动陆缘—碰撞的构造演化历史,揭示松嫩—张广才岭地块与佳木斯地块于中志留世(425Ma)已经拼合在一起,这也得到了早泥盆世地层碎屑锆石年代学的支持。中泥盆世,火山作用分布在佳木斯地块东缘和松嫩—张广才岭地块上,前者为双峰式火山岩组合,后者为A型流纹岩,它们共同揭示该区处于一种碰撞后的伸展环境。早二叠世,佳木斯地块东缘发育一套钙碱性火山岩组合,揭示古亚洲洋俯冲作用的存在,而同期的张广才岭地区则发育一套典型的双峰式火成岩组合,揭示了陆内伸展环境的存在。中二叠世,同碰撞型火山岩分布于佳木斯地块东缘及东南缘,其形成可能与佳木斯地块和兴凯地块的碰撞拼合有关。晚三叠世,张广才岭地区存在的双峰式火山岩和敦—密断裂东南区发育的A型流纹岩均显示陆内的伸展环境,其形成应与古亚洲洋最终闭合后的伸展环境相联系。此外,结合牡丹江断裂两侧均发育中—晚二叠世花岗岩以及佳木斯地块上晚三叠世—早侏罗世岩浆作用的缺失,暗示松嫩—张广才岭地块与佳木斯地块在三叠纪早期沿牡丹江断裂可能存在一次裂解事件。而早—中侏罗世陆缘(东宁—汪清—珲春)钙碱性火山岩和陆内(小兴安岭—张广才岭)双峰式火成岩组合的出现,结合牡丹江断裂两侧"张广才岭群"和"黑龙江群"构造混杂岩的就位,暗示松嫩—张广才岭地块与佳木斯地块在早—中侏罗世再次拼合,这也标志着环太平洋构造体系的开始。  相似文献

西秦岭北缘断裂带漳县—车厂断层的结构及构造演化   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
西秦岭北缘断裂带是青藏高原东北缘主要构造边界断裂带之一, 其构造变形历史和运动学特征研究可以为西秦岭中新生代构造过程和印度—亚洲板块碰撞动力学的远程构造响应提供约束。漳县—车厂断层是西秦岭北缘断裂带的重要组成部分, 通过对工程开挖所揭露的断层带内丰富构造现象的观测与分析, 至少可以辨别出3期性质、规模、运动学特征各异的构造变形事件。第一期为向北北东陡倾的伸展正断层作用; 第二期为向南南西倾的由南向北的逆冲断层作用; 第三期为沿近直立断面左旋走滑作用。尽管每期变形的时代尚缺乏构造物质测年的约束, 但根据其与白垩系、新近系的空间关系以及已有第四纪以来沿断层地貌位错和相关沉积物测年以及地震活动历史研究对断层左旋走滑作用的时代约束, 认为第一期伸展正断层作用起始于早白垩纪, 可能持续到渐新世; 第二期向北逆冲断层作用起始于渐新世初, 可能持续到早第四纪; 第三期左旋走滑断层作用起始于晚第四纪, 持续至今。漳县—车厂断层是一条典型的多期变形的脆性断层, 其变形特征与历史, 如果代表了西秦岭北缘断裂带特征与构造变形过程, 那么现今西秦岭北缘断裂带仅是起始于早白垩纪、新生的脆性断裂带, 并非是印支主造山期大规模韧性逆冲推覆作用的边界断层。  相似文献

沂沭断裂带内高桥盆地早白垩世火山岩SiO2含量为51.97%~68.94%;由玄武粗安岩、 粗面岩和流纹岩组成;都属于碱性岩。岩石富集Rb、 Ba、 K等大离子亲石元素和轻稀土元素;相对亏损Nb、 Ta、 Ti等高场强元素和重稀土元素;并具有富集的Sr-Nd-Pb同位素组成。钾质粗面岩具有高稀土Cr、 Ni含量、 La/Yb、Sr/Y和Th/U高比值;这类似于华北克拉通东南缘早白垩世富集岩石圈来源的基性岩(如方城玄武岩、 沂南辉长岩);其可能主要来源于富集岩石圈地幔部分熔融。与之相比;钠质玄武粗安岩具有低Cr、 Ni含量 、 87Sr/86Sr(t)、 Th/U和高εNd(t)值;表明它可能由岩石圈地幔熔体与软流圈物质混合而成。沂沭断裂带高桥盆地火山岩形成于岩石圈伸展背景下;沂沭断裂带的活动可能诱使软流圈物质的上涌;导致岩石圈地幔升温发生部分熔融;并为软流圈物质的上升提供了通道。  相似文献

西秦岭晚中生代火山岩出露于青海省泽库县多福屯地区、甘肃省夏河县红墙和甘加地区。初步研究表明,甘加火山岩属于一套钾质拉斑玄武岩。该玄武岩富集REE、LILE及HFSE,但轻、重稀土元素分馏程度及不相容元素含量均略低于典型OIB和西秦岭晚中生代钠质碱性玄武岩。岩浆起源于软流圈释放的小体积富挥发份硅酸盐熔体交代形成的富集岩石圈地幔,并在上升中经历了较大程度的镁铁质矿物的分离结晶作用。岩石具有典型的陆内OIB成因特点,既不同于前人提出的甘加海山玄武岩,也不属于“二叠纪隆务峡-甘加蛇绿岩”组成部分,而与西秦岭晚中生代钠质碱性玄武岩均为大陆裂谷系OIB型岩浆作用的产物。甘加玄武岩可能具有比较复杂的岩石组合,跨越了晚古生代到晚中生代的一个较长时间范围。西秦岭晚中生代的大陆裂谷作用夭折于岩石圈拉张的早期阶段,它的出现及研究区广泛发育的近SN向或NW向断裂,可能是贺兰-川滇南北构造带与大型走滑断裂系复杂叠加并相互影响与改造的表现。  相似文献

Geochemical studies of volcanic rocks in the Gamilaroi terrane and Calliope Volcanic Assemblage, New England Fold Belt, eastern Australia, indicate that the setting in which these rocks formed changed in both space and time. The Upper Silurian to Middle Devonian basalts of the Gamilaroi terrane show flat to slightly light rare‐earth element (LREE) depleted chondrite normalised patterns, depletion of high field strength elements (HFSE) relative to N‐MORB, low Ti/V and high Ti/Zr ratios, high Ni, Cr and large‐ion lithophile element (LILE) contents, features characteristic of intra‐oceanic island arc basaltic magmas. They are associated with low‐K, less mafic volcanics, showing moderate LREE enrichment, low Nb and Y contents and Rb/Zr ratios. The depletion of HFSE in the basalts indicates that the magmas were derived from a refractory source in a supra‐subduction zone setting. The presence of such a zone implies that the arc was associated with a backarc basin, the location of which was to the west where a wide backarc region existed from the Middle Silurian. This polarity of arc and backarc basin suggests that the subduction zone dipped to the west. In contrast to their older counterparts, Middle to Upper Devonian basalts of the Gamilaroi terrane have MORB‐like chondrite normalised patterns and higher Ti and lower LILE contents. Moreover, they have low Ti/Zr ratios and MORB‐like Ti/V ratios and HFSE contents, features typical of backarc basins. Dolerites of the Gamilaroi terrane also have predominantly backarc basin signatures. These features suggest that both the basalts and dolerites have been emplaced in an extensional environment produced during the rifting of the intra‐oceanic island arc lithosphere. A progressive increase in Ti/V ratios, and TiO2 and Fe2O3 contents at constant MgO, of stratigraphically equivalent basalts, towards the north‐northwest part of the belt, is consistent with either greater extension to the north or melting of a more fertile magma source. By contrast, basalts in the southeast part of the terrane have moderately high Ti/Zr and low Ti/V ratios and in some samples, exhibit depletion of HFSE, compositional features transitional between island arc and backarc basin basalts. The Lower to Middle Devonian mafic rocks in the Calliope Volcanic Assemblage show both LREE enriched and depleted chondrite normalised REE patterns. Further, the majority have high Ti/Zr ratios and low Zr contents as well as relatively high Th contents relative to MORB. These features are common to rocks of Middle Devonian age as well as those of Early Devonian age and are suggestive of eruption in an arc setting. Thus, the data from this study provide new evidence for the evolution of the New England Fold Belt from the Late Silurian to the Late Devonian and reveal a history more complicated than previously reported.  相似文献
