This paper investigates the potential of alginate-immobilised Chlorella sorokiniana for removing Cu2+, Ni2+ and Cd2+ ions from drinking water solutions. The effects of initial metal concentrations, contact times and temperatures on the biosorptions and removal efficiencies of the tested metals were investigated at initial pH values of 5, and pH effects were studied within the range of 3–7. When studying the effects of initial metal concentrations, the highest experimental removal yields achieved for Cu2+, Ni2+ and Cd2+ ions were 97.10, 50.94 and 64.61 %, respectively. The maximum biosorption capacities obtained by the Langmuir isotherm model for the biosorptions of Cu2+, Ni2+ and Cd2+ ions by alginate-immobilised C. sorokiniana were found to be 179.90, 86.49 and 164.50 mg/g biosorbent, respectively. The experimental data followed pseudo-second-order kinetics. At an initial metal concentration of 25 mg/L, immobilised algae could be used in at least 5 successive biosorption–desorption cycles. SEM and EDS analyses revealed that the metals bonded to the biosorbent. Bi- and multi-metal systems of Cu2+, Ni2+ and Cd2+ were investigated at initial metal concentrations of 30, 50 and 100 mg/L. The removal of Cd2+ as well as Ni2+ in such systems was negatively affected by the presence of Cu2+. The removal efficiency for Cu2+ in multi-metal systems decreased by 5–7 %, whilst in the cases of Cd2+ and Ni2+ the efficiencies decreased by up to 30 %. Nevertheless, the results obtained show that alginate-immobilised C. sorokiniana can efficiently remove the metals tested from polluted drinking water sources.  相似文献

Adsorption of divalent metal ions, including Cu2+, Pb2+, Zn2+, Cd2+ and Ni2+, on quartz surface was measured as a function of metal ion concentration at 30°C under conditions of solution pH= 6. 5 and ion strength I = 0. 1mol/L. Results of the experimental measurements can be described very well by adsorption isotherm equations of Freudlich. The correlation coefficients (r) of adsorption isotherm lines are > 0. 96. Moreover, the experimental data were interpreted on the basis of surface complexation model. The experimental results showed that the monodentate-coordinated metal ion surface complex species (SOM+) are predominant over the bidentate-coordinated metal ion surface complex species [(SO)2M] formed only by the ions Cu2+, Zn2+ and Ni2+. And the relevant apparent surface complexation constants are lgKM = 2.2–3.3 in order of KCd≥KPb > KZn > KNi≥KCu, and lgβM = 5.9-6.8 in order of βNi > βZn > βCu. Therefore, the reactive ability of the ions onto mineral surface of quartz follows the order of Cd > Pb > Zn > Ni> Cu under the above-mentioned solution conditions. The apparent surface complexation constants, influenced by the surface potential, surface species and hydrolysis of metal ions, depend mainly on the Born solvation coefficient of the metal ions. A binary mixture of humic acid and geothite was prepared and used to modify kaolinite to produce geothite–humic acid (GHA)-modified kaolinite adsorbent useful for the adsorption of Pb2+, Cd2+, Zn2+, Ni2+ and Cu2+ from Single and Quinary (5) metal ion systems. The cation exchange capacity (CEC) and specific surface area of GHA-modified kaolinite clay adsorbent were found to be 40 meq/100 g and 13 m2/g, respectively, with the CEC being five times that of raw kaolinite clay (7.81 meq/100 g). The Langmuir–Freundlich equilibrium isotherm model gave better fit to experimental data as compared with other isotherm models. In Quinary metal ion system, the presence of Zn2+ and Cu2+ appears to have an antagonistic effect on the adsorption of Pb2+, Cd2+ and Ni2+, while the presence of Pb2+, Cd2+ and Ni2+ shows a synergistic effect on the adsorption of Zn2+ and Cu2+. The GHA-modified kaolinite showed strong preference for the adsorption of Pb2+ in both metal ion systems. Brouers–Weron–Sotolongo (BWS) kinetic model gave better fit to kinetic data compared with other kinetic models used. Data from BWS kinetic model indicate that adsorption of metal ions onto GHA-modified adsorbent in both metal ion systems followed strictly, diffusion-controlled mechanism with adsorption reaction proceeding to 50 % equilibrium in <2 min in the Single metal ion system and <1 min in the Quinary metal ion system. Adsorption of metal ions onto GHA-modified kaolinite is fairly spontaneous and endothermic in nature in both metal ion systems although the rate of metal ion uptake and spontaneity of reaction are reduced in the Quinary metal ion system.  相似文献

Polarized electronic absorption spectra of colourless chalcocyanite, CuSO4, have been measured using microscope-spectrometric techniques. The spectra are characterized by a structured and clearly polarized band system in the near-infrared spectral range with components centred at 11,720, 10,545, 9,100, and 7,320 cm?1, which have been assigned to crystal field dd transitions of Cu2+ cations in pseudo-tetragonally elongated CuO6 polyhedra with point symmetry C i ( \(\bar{1}\) ). The polarization behaviour is interpreted based on a D 2(C 2″) pseudo-symmetry. Crystal field calculations were performed for the actual triclinic point symmetry by applying the Superposition Model of crystal fields, as well as in terms of a ‘classic’ pseudo-tetragonal crystal field approach yielding the parameters Dq (eq) = 910, Dt = 395, and Ds = 1,336 cm?1, corresponding to a cubically averaged Dq cub = 679 cm?1. A comparative survey on crystal fields in Cu2+ minerals shows that the low overall crystal field strength in chalcocyanite, combined with a comparatively weak pseudo-tetragonal splitting of energy levels, is responsible for its unique colourless appearance among oxygen-based Cu2+ minerals. The weak crystal field in CuSO4 can be related to the lower position of the SO4 2? anion compared to, e.g. the H2O molecule in the spectrochemical series of ligands.  相似文献

The local structures and the g factors g // and g for the isoelectronic 3d9 ions Cu2+ and Ni+ in CdS are theoretically investigated from the perturbation formulas of these parameters for a 3d9 ion under trigonally distorted tetrahedral environments. In consideration of significant covalency of the [MS4] combinations (M = Cu and Ni), the ligand orbital and spin–orbit coupling contributions are taken into account using the cluster approach. Based on the studies, the substitutional impurity Cu2+ (or Ni+) on Cd2+ site is found to undergo a small inward displacement 0.026 Å (or a slight outward shift 0.017 Å) towards (or away from) the ligand triangle along C 3 axis. The theoretical g factors for both ions based on the above impurity displacements are in good agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献

Meridianiite, MgSO4·11H2O, is the most highly hydrated phase in the binary MgSO4–H2O system. Lower hydrates in the MgSO4–H2O system have end-member analogues containing alternative divalent metal cations (Ni2+, Zn2+, Mn2+, Cu2+, Fe2+, and Co2+) and exhibit extensive solid solution with MgSO4 and with one another, but no other undecahydrate is known. We have prepared aqueous MgSO4 solutions doped with these other cations in proportions up to and including the pure end-members. These liquids have been solidified into fine-grained polycrystalline blocks of metal sulfate hydrate + ice by rapid quenching in liquid nitrogen. The solid products have been characterised by X-ray powder diffraction, and the onset of partial melting has been quantified using a thermal probe. We have established that of the seven end-member metal sulfates studied, only MgSO4 forms an undecahydrate; ZnSO4 forms an orthorhombic heptahydrate (synthetic goslarite), MnSO4, FeSO4, and CoSO4 form monoclinic heptahydrates (syn. mallardite, melanterite, bieberite, respectively), and CuSO4 crystallises as the well-known triclinic pentahydrate (syn. chalcanthite). NiSO4 forms a new hydrate which has been indexed with a triclinic unit cell of dimensions a = 6.1275(1) Å, b = 6.8628(1) Å, c = 12.6318(2) Å, α = 92.904(2)°, β = 97.678(2)°, and γ = 96.618(2)°. The unit-cell volume of this crystal, V = 521.74(1) Å3, is consistent with it being an octahydrate, NiSO4·8H2O. Further analysis of doped specimens has shown that synthetic meridianiite is able to accommodate significant quantities of foreign cations in its structure; of the order 50 mol. % Co2+ or Mn2+, 20–30 mol. % Ni2+ or Zn2+, but less than 10 mol. % of Cu2+ or Fe2+. In three of the systems we examined, an ‘intermediate’ phase occurred that differed in hydration state both from the Mg-bearing meridianiite end-member and the pure dopant end-member hydrate. In the case of CuSO4, we observed a melanterite-structured heptahydrate at Cu/(Cu + Mg) = 0.5, which we identify as synthetic alpersite [(Mg0.5Cu0.5)SO4·7H2O)]. In the NiSO4- and ZnSO4-doped systems we characterised an entirely new hydrate which could also be identified to a lesser degree in the CuSO4- and the FeSO4-doped systems. The Ni-doped substance has been indexed with a monoclinic unit-cell of dimensions a = 6.7488(2) Å, b = 11.9613(4) Å, c = 14.6321(5) Å, and β = 95.047(3)°, systematic absences being indicative of space-group P21/c with Z = 4. The unit-cell volume, V = 1,176.59(5) Å3, is consistent with it being an enneahydrate [i.e. (Mg0.5Ni0.5)SO4·9H2O)]. Similarly, the new Zn-bearing enneahydrate has refined unit cell dimensions of a = 6.7555(3) Å, b = 11.9834(5) Å, c = 14.6666(8) Å, β = 95.020(4)°, V = 1,182.77(7) Å3, and the new Fe-bearing enneahydrate has refined unit cell dimensions of a = 6.7726(3) Å, b = 12.0077(3) Å, c = 14.6920(5) Å, β = 95.037(3)°, and V = 1,190.20(6) Å3. The observation that synthetic meridianiite can form in the presence of, and accommodate significant quantities of other ions increases the likelihood that this mineral will occur naturally on Mars—and elsewhere in the outer solar system—in metalliferous brines.  相似文献

MgSiO3 akimotoite is stable relative to majorite-garnet under low-temperature geotherms within steeply or rapidly subducting slabs. Two compositions of Mg–akimotoite were synthesized under similar conditions: Z674 (containing about 550 ppm wt H2O) was synthesized at 22 GPa and 1,500 °C and SH1101 (nominally anhydrous) was synthesized at 22 GPa and 1,250 °C. Crystal structures of both samples differ significantly from previous studies to give slightly smaller Si sites and larger Mg sites. The bulk thermal expansion coefficients of Z674 are (153–839 K) of a 1 = 20(3) × 10?9 K?2 and a 0 = 17(2) × 10?6 K?1, with an average of α 0 = 27.1(6) × 10?6 K?1. Compressibility at ambient temperature of Z674 was measured up to 34.6 GPa at Sector 13 (GSECARS) at Advanced Photon Source Argonne National Laboratory. The second-order Birch–Murnaghan equation of state (BM2 EoS) fitting yields: V 0 = 263.7(2) Å3, K T0 = 217(3) GPa (K′ fixed at 4). The anisotropies of axial thermal expansivities and compressibilities are similar: α a  = 8.2(3) and α c  = 10.68(9) (10?6 K?1); β a  = 11.4(3) and β c  = 15.9(3) (10?4 GPa). Hydration increases both the bulk thermal expansivity and compressibility, but decreases the anisotropy of structural expansion and compression. Complementary Raman and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy shows multiple structural hydration sites. Low-temperature and high-pressure FTIR spectroscopy (15–300 K and 0–28 GPa) confirms that the multiple sites are structurally unique, with zero-pressure intrinsic anharmonic mode parameters between ?1.02 × 10?5 and +1.7 × 10?5 K?1, indicating both weak hydrogen bonds (O–H···O) and strong OH bonding due to long O···O distances.  相似文献

Synthetic melilites on the join Ca2MgSi2O7 (åkermanite: Ak)-Ca2Fe3+AlSiO7 (ferrialuminium gehlenite: FAGeh) were studied using X-ray powder diffraction and 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopic methods to determine the distribution of Fe3+ between two different tetrahedral sites (T1 and T2), and the relationship between ionic substitution and incommensurate (IC) structure. Melilites were synthesized from starting materials with compositions of Ak100, Ak80FAGeh20, Ak70FAGeh30 and Ak50FAGeh50 by sintering at 1,170–1,350 °C and 1 atm. The average chemical compositions and end-member components, Ak, FAGeh and Geh (Ca2Al2SiO7), of the synthetic melilites were Ca2.015Mg1.023Si1.981O7 (Ak100), Ca2.017Mg0.788Fe 0.187 3+ Al0.221Si1.791O7 (Ak78FAGeh19Geh3), Ca1.995Mg0.695Fe 0.258 3+ Al0.318Si1.723O7 (Ak69FAGeh25Geh6) and Ca1.982Mg0.495Fe 0.449 3+ Al0.519Si1.535O7 (Ak49FAGeh44Geh7), respectively. Rietveld refinements using X-ray powder diffraction data measured using CuK α -radiation at room temperature converged successfully with goodness-of-fits of 1.15–1.26. The refined Fe occupancies at the T1 and T2 sites and the Mg and Si contents determined by electron microprobe analysis gave the site populations of [0.788Mg + 0.082Fe3+ + 0.130Al]T1[0.104Fe3+ + 0.104Al + 1.792Si]T2 for Ak78FAGeh19Geh3, [0.695Mg + 0.127Fe3+ + 0.178Al]T1[0.132Fe3+ + 0.144Al + 1.724Si]T2 for Ak69FAGeh25Geh6 and [0.495Mg + 0.202Fe3+ + 0.303Al]T1[0.248Fe3+ + 0.216Al + 1.536Si]T2 for Ak49FAGeh44Geh7 (apfu: atoms per formula unit), respectively. The results indicate that Fe3+ is distributed at both the T1 and the T2 sites. The mean T1–O distance decreases with the substitution of Fe3+ + Al3+ for Mg2+ at the T1 site, whereas the mean T2–O distance increases with substitution of Fe3+ + Al3+ for Si4+ at the T2 site, causing decrease in the a dimension and increase in the c dimension. However, in spite of the successful Rietveld refinements for the X-ray powder diffraction data measured using CuK α-radiation at room temperature, each Bragg reflection measured using CuK α1-radiation at room temperature showed weak shoulders, which were not observed in those measured at 200 °C. The Mössbauer spectra of the melilites measured at room temperature consist of two doublets assigned to Fe3+ at the T1 site and two or three doublets to Fe3+ at the T2 site, implying the existence of multiple T1 and T2 sites with different site distortions. These facts can be interpreted in terms of the IC structure in all synthetic melilites at room temperature, respectively. The results of Mössbauer analysis indicate that the IC structure in melilite is caused by not only known multiple T1 site, but also multiple T2 site at room temperature.  相似文献

Readily dispersible clay is the part of the clay fraction in soils that potentially disperses in water when a small amount of mechanical energy is applied to soil. Column and batch experiments were conducted to identify the effect of readily dispersible clay on the mobility of some metal ions in a disturbed soil sample. The clay fraction (<0.002 mm) was separated from an alkaline Vertisol from the Nile River Delta. X-ray diffraction technique was used to identify minerals present in the clay fraction. Clay suspensions and deionized H2O solutions of Cd2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+ were prepared and used as influents in soil columns. Adsorption capability of the studied soil among the three metal ions was investigated. The results showed high adsorption capacity of Cd2+, Cu2+, but not Zn2+ for the studied soil. Cu2+ was the highest adsorbed metal by soil and its sorption increased at small equilibrium concentrations compared with Cd2+ and Zn2+. For the three studied metal ions, Langmuir model represented the best fit to the adsorption data. The concentration of Zn2+ and Cd2+ in leachates increased as the leaching solution volume increased, while Cu2+ showed a homogeneous distribution throughout the soil column. According to DTPA extractable metals, Zn2+ was appeared at greater depths than Cd2+, while Cu2+ had homogeneous distribution through the soil column.  相似文献

Heavy metal ions (Pb2+, Cd2+, Ni2+, and Zn2+) were biosorbed by brown seaweed (Hizikia fusiformis), which was collected from Jeju Island of South Korea. The metal adsorption capacity of H. fusiformis improved significantly by washing with water or by base or acid treatments. The maximum sorption by NaOH-pretreated biomass was observed near a slightly acidic pH (pH 4?6) for Pb2+, Cd2+, Ni2+, and Zn2+. This result suggests that the treatment of H. fusiformis biomass with NaOH helped increase the functional forms of carboxylate ester units. Kinetic data showed that the biosorption occurred rapidly during the first 60 min, and most of the heavy metals were bound to the seaweed within 180 min. The maximum metal adsorption capacities assumed by a Langmuir model were on the order of Pb2+ > Cd2+ > Ni2+ > Zn2+. Equilibrium adsorption data for the heavy metal ions could fit well in the Langmuir model with regression coefficients R 2 > 0.97.  相似文献

In situ X-ray diffraction measurements of KAlSi3O8-hollandite (K-hollandite) were performed at pressures of 15–27 GPa and temperatures of 300–1,800 K using a Kawai-type apparatus. Unit-cell volumes obtained at various pressure and temperature conditions in a series of measurements were fitted to the high-temperature Birch-Murnaghan equation of state and a complete set of thermoelastic parameters was obtained with an assumed K300,0=4. The determined parameters are V 300,0=237.6(2) Å3, K 300,0=183(3) GPa, (?K T,0/?T) P =?0.033(2) GPa K?1, a 0=3.32(5)×10?5 K?1, and b 0=1.09(1)×10?8 K?2, where a 0 and b 0 are coefficients describing the zero-pressure thermal expansion: α T,0 = a 0 + b 0 T. We observed broadening and splitting of diffraction peaks of K-hollandite at pressures of 20–23 GPa and temperatures of 300–1,000 K. We attribute this to the phase transitions from hollandite to hollandite II that is an unquenchable high-pressure phase recently found. We determined the phase boundary to be P (GPa)=16.6 + 0.007 T (K). Using the equation of state parameters of K-hollandite determined in the present study, we calculated a density profile of a hypothetical continental crust (HCC), which consists only of K-hollandite, majorite garnet, and stishovite with 1:1:1 ratio in volume. Density of HCC is higher than the surrounding mantle by about 0.2 g cm?3 in the mantle transition zone while this relation is reversed below 660-km depth and HCC becomes less dense than the surrounding mantle by about 0.15 g cm?3 in the uppermost lower mantle. Thus the 660-km seismic discontinuity can be a barrier to prevent the transportation of subducted continental crust materials to the lower mantle and the subducted continental crust may reside at the bottom of the mantle transition zone.  相似文献

We present the temperature dependence of the specific heat of CoCr2O4 between 2.08 K and 306 K in zero magnetic field. The lattice component can be described by the Komada–Westrum model with a characteristic temperature ΘKW = 541 K. The entropy of the magnetic component amounts to 33.51 J mol?1 K?1 at T = 298.15 K, in good agreement with the magnetic entropy of Co2+ and Cr3+ ions with completely quenched orbital moments. We compare our results with data available in literature.  相似文献

Novel bionanocomposites, S. cerevisiae–AgNPs, were synthesized by in situ formation of AgNPs on S. cerevisiae surface using fulvic acids as reductants under simulated sunlight. S. cerevisiae–AgNPs were characterized using UV–Vis spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. These analyses showed that AgNPs were distributed on the surface of S. cerevisiae. The application of S. cerevisiae–AgNPs in bacteria killing and heavy metal removal was studied. S. cerevisiae–AgNPs effectively inhibited the growth of E. coli with increasing concentrations of S. cerevisiae–AgNPs. E. coli was killed completely at high concentration S. cerevisiae–AgNPs (e.g., 100 or 200 µg mL?1). S. cerevisiae–AgNPs as excellent heavy metal absorbents also have been studied. Using Cd2+ as model heavy metal, batch experiments confirmed that the adsorption behavior fitted the Langmuir adsorption isotherms and the Cd2+ adsorption capacity of S. cerevisiae–AgNPs was 15.01 mg g?1. According to adsorption data, the kinetics of Cd2+ uptake by S. cerevisiae–AgNPs followed pseudo second-order kinetic model. Moreover, S. cerevisiae–AgNPs possessed ability of different heavy metals’ removal (e.g., Cr5+, As5+, Pb2+, Cu2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, Hg2+, Ni2+). The simulated contaminated water containing E. coli, Cd2+ and Pb2+ was treated using S. cerevisiae–AgNPs. The results indicated that the bionanocomposites can be used to develop antibacterial agents and bioremediation agents for water treatment.  相似文献

Pyrochlores, microlites, and U-betafites of pyrochlore group minerals were obtained from mixing experiments of the corresponding oxides and fluorides by hydrothermal synthesis at T = 800 °C and P = 200 MPa in the solution of 1.0 M NaF. The presence of U4+ in pyrochlore does not affect the cell parameter, which for the phases of pyrochlore–microlite series is 10.42 ± 0.01 Å. In a system with an excess of UO2, pyrochlores and microlites, containing uranium up to 0.2–0.3 atoms per formula unit (apfu), are formed. In the uranium-free system of betafites composition, perovskites and Ti-bearing pyrochlores are formed. U-pyrochlores of betafite series, containing 2Ti = Nb + Ta in moles, have cubic cell parameters of 10.26 ± 0.02 Å and U4+ isomorphic capacity of 0.4–0.5 apfu. In the pyrochlore structure, U4+ may substitute for Ca2+ and Na+ cations in the eightfold site. In pyrochlores of pyrochlore–microlite series, Ca2+ is replaced by U4+, while in pyrochlores of betafite series, U4+ replaces Na+. Phases with pyrochlore structure, containing U5+ and U6+ in the sixfold site, usually occupied by Nb5+, Ta5+, and Ti4+, are formed under oxidizing conditions (Cu–Cu2O buffer). They are characterized by low content of Nb5+, Ta5+ (<0.1 apfu), and anomalous behavior of the crystal lattice (compression, instead of expansion). Under natural conditions, the formation of pyrochlores containing a significant amount of U5+ and U6+ is unlikely.  相似文献

The assessment of hydrogeochemical processes that govern the water quality of inland freshwater aquifers in coastal environment, especially in Indian sub-continent, is occasionally attempted. To bridge the gap, a detail hydrochemical evaluation of groundwater occurring in coastal alluvium is attempted. Single set of high-density water sampling is done from a limited area to gain an in-depth knowledge of the processes that govern the water chemistry of the sandy aquifers. The water is of weak alkaline nature and less mineralized, EC being < 1,000 μS/cm in many samples. Major ion composition indicates that water is contaminated with excess concentration of nitrates. Ionic abundance is in the order of Cl? > Na > Ca2+ > HCO3 ? > SO4 2? > Mg2+  > NO3 ?. Na+ and Cl? are almost in similar proportions implying the influence of coastal climate on water quality. The water shows modest variation in their ionic assemblage among different sample points as evident from Schoeller scheme. Groundwater can be classified into three distinct facies viz. Cl?–Ca2+–Mg2+, Na+–Cl? and Ca2+–Mg2+–HCO3 ? types. The ionic assemblages, their indices, ratios and cross-plots substantiate that multiple processes were involved in the evolution of the water chemistry. Among them, silicate weathering, halite dissolution, ion exchange and base exchange played prominent role in the ion enrichment of groundwater. The aquatic chemistry is further influenced and modified by marine environment, evapotranspiration and anthropogenic inputs which is authenticated by good correlation (r 2 = 1) among the Na+–Cl?, EC–Mg2+, Na+ and Cl?. Gibbs plots established that evaporation is more responsible for contribution of minerals to the groundwater than aquifer material. Nitrate contamination can be attributed for poor sewerage disposal mechanism which is aggravated by fertilizer inputs, irrigation practices and agriculture activity. A contrasting correlation (r 2 ≥90 to <0.40) among select pairs of ions reassures dissimilar source of those ions, involvement of multiple processes and limited interaction of formation water with aquifer material.  相似文献

Groundwater survey has been carried out in the area of Gummanampadu sub-basin located in Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh, India for assessing the factors that are responsible for changing of groundwater chemistry and consequent deterioration of groundwater quality, where the groundwater is a prime source for drinking and irrigation due to non-availability of surface water in time. The area is underlain by the Archaean Gneissic Complex, over which the Proterozoic Cumbhum rocks occur. The results of the plotting of Ca2+ + Mg2+ versus HCO3 ? + CO3 2?, Ca2+ + Mg2+ versus total cations, Na+ + K+ versus total cations, Cl? + SO4 2? versus Na+ + K+, Na+ versus Cl?, Na+ versus HCO3 ? + CO3 2?, Na+ versus Ca2+ and Na+: Cl? versus EC indicate that the rock–water interaction under alkaline condition is the main mechanism in activating mineral dissociation and dissolution, causing the release of Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, HCO3 ?, CO3 2?, SO4 2? and F? ions into the groundwater. The ionic relations also suggest that the higher concentrations of Na+ and Cl? ions are the results of ion exchange and evaporation. The influences of anthropogenic sources are the other cause for increasing of Mg2+, Na+, Cl?, SO4 2? and NO3 ? ions. Further, the excess alkaline condition in water accelerates more effective dissolution of F?-bearing minerals. Moreover, the chemical data plotted in the Piper’s, Gibbs’s and Langelier–Ludwig’s diagrams, computed for the chloro-alkaline and saturation indices, and analyzed in the principal component analysis, support the above hypothesis. The groundwater quality is, thus, characterized by Na+ > Ca2+ > Mg2+ > K+: HCO3 ? + CO3 2? > Cl? > SO4 2? > NO3 ? > F? facies. On the other hand, majority of groundwater samples are not suitable for drinking with reference to the concentrations of TDS, TH, Mg2+ and F?, while those are not good for irrigation with respect to USSL’s and Wilcox’s diagrams, residual sodium carbonate, and magnesium hazard, but they are safe for irrigation with respect to permeability index. Thus, the study recommends suitable management measures to improve health conditions as well as to increase agricultural output.  相似文献

The single-crystal of humboldtine [Fe2+(C2O4) · 2H2O] was first synthesized and the crystal structure has been refined. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction data were collected using an imaging-plate diffractometer system and graphite-monochromatized MoKα radiation. The crystal structure of humboldtine was refined to an agreement index (R1) of 3.22% calculated for 595 unique observed reflections. The mineral crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group C2/c, with unit cell dimensions of a = 12.011 (11), b = 5.557 (5), c = 9.920 (9) Å, β = 128.53 (3)?, V = 518.0 (8) Å3, and Z = 4. In this crystal structure, the alternation of oxalate anions [(C2O4)2?] and Fe2+ ions forms one-dimensional chain structure parallel to [010]; water molecules (H2O)0 create hydrogen bonds to link the chains, where (H2O)0 is essentially part of the crystal structure. The water molecules with the two lone electron pairs (LEPs) on their oxygen atom are tied obliquely to the chains, because the one lone electron pair is considered to participate in the chemical bonds with Fe2+ ions. Humboldtine including hydrogen bonds is isotypic with lindbergite [Mn2+(C2O4) · 2H2O]. The donor–acceptor separations of the hydrogen bonds in humboldtine are slightly shorter than those in lindbergite, which suggests that the hydrogen bonds in the former are stronger than those in the latter. The infrared and Raman spectra of single-crystals of humboldtine and lindbergite confirmed the differences in hydrogen-bond geometry. In addition, Fe2+–O stretching band of humboldtine was split and broadened in the observed Raman spectrum, owing to the Jahn–Teller effect of Fe2+ ion. These interpretations were also discussed in terms of bond-valence theory.  相似文献

Researches on the impact of common ions onto sediments are of great importance for the study of the heavy metal adsorption mechanisms. Considering the surface sediments from the relatively clean reach in the Baotou section of the Yellow River as the adsorbent, this work presents the impacts of common ions (Na+, Mg2+, K+, Ca2+, Cl, SO4 2−, and NH4 +) on heavy metals (Cu2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, and Pb2+) adsorption. The experimental results reveal that the adsorptive capacities of the heavy metals are controlled by different adsorption mechanisms in different ion concentration ranges. With the increase of the ionic strength, the adsorption of the heavy metals increases for the compression of the electric double layer, whereas decreases for the decreasing of the ionic activities of the heavy metals. The competitive adsorption and complexations between the heavy metals and common ions are also important factors controlling the heavy metal adsorption. According to the experimental results and the real concentration of common ions in the Baotou section of the Yellow River, the increase of the concentrations of Na+, Mg2+, K+, and Ca2+ would cause the increase of Zn2+ adsorption and reduce the Zn pollution. The NH4 + from the industrial discharge of the tributaries has a strong impact on the heavy metal adsorption.  相似文献

Assessment of groundwater quality in and around Vedaraniyam,South India   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
Groundwater from 47 wells were analyzed on the basis of hydrochemical parameters like pH, electric conductivity, total dissolved solids, Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, Cl?, CO3 2?, HCO3 ?, NO3 ?, PO4 3? and F? in the Cauvery delta of Vedaraniyam coast. Further, water quality index (WQI), sodium percentage (Na %), sodium absorption ratio, residual sodium carbonate, permeability index and Kelley’s ratio were evaluated to understand the suitability of water for drinking and irrigation purposes. The result shows significant difference in the quality of water along the coastal stretch. The order of dominance of major ions is as follows: Na+ ≥ Mg2+ ≥ Ca2+ ≥ K+ and Cl? ≥ HCO3 ? ≥ CO3 2? ≥ PO4 3? ≥ F?. Na/Cl, Cl/HCO3 ratio and Revelle index confirmed that 60–70 % of the samples were affected by saline water intrusion. WQI showed that 36 % of the samples were good for drinking and the remaining were poor and unsuitable for drinking purpose. The degradation of groundwater quality was found to be mainly due to over-exploitation, brackish aquaculture practice, fertilizer input from agriculture and also due to domestic sewage.  相似文献

The solubility of ettringite (Ca6[Al(OH)6]2(SO4)3 · 26H2O) was measured in a series of dissolution and precipitation experiments at 5–75°C and at pH between 10.5 and 13.0 using synthesized material. Equilibrium was established within 4 to 6 days, with samples collected between 10 and 36 days. The log KSP for the reaction Ca6[Al(OH)6]2(SO4)3 · 26H2O ⇌ 6Ca2+ + 2Al(OH)4 + 3SO42− + 4OH + 26H2O at 25°C calculated for dissolution experiments (−45.0 ± 0.2) is not significantly different from the log KSP calculated for precipitation experiments (−44.8 ± 0.4) at the 95% confidence level. There is no apparent trend in log KSP with pH and the mean log KSP,298 is −44.9 ± 0.3. The solubility product decreased linearly with the inverse of temperature indicating a constant enthalpy of reaction from 5 to 75°C. The enthalpy and entropy of reaction ΔH°r and ΔS°r, were determined from the linear regression to be 204.6 ± 0.6 kJ mol−1 and 170 ± 38 J mol−1 K−1. Using our values for log KSP, ΔH°r, and ΔS°r and published partial molal quantities for the constituent ions, we calculated the free energy of formation ΔG°f,298, the enthalpy of formation ΔH°f,298, and the entropy of formation ΔS°f,298 to be −15211 ± 20, −17550 ± 16 kJ mol−1, and 1867 ± 59 J mol−1 K−1. Assuming ΔCP,r is zero, the heat capacity of ettringite is 590 ± 140 J mol−1 K−1.  相似文献
