The mechanism of the effects of the upwelling mean on the ENSO event mature phase locking is ex-amined by using a mixed-mode model. The results show that the positive feedback process of the ef-fects of the seasonal variation of the upwelling mean on the Kelvin wave is the mechanism of the locking of the event mature phase to the end of the calendar year. The memory of the Rossby waves for the sign-shifting of the sea surface temperature anomaly from positive to negative 6 months before the cold peak time is the other mechanism of the locking of the La Nia event mature phase to the end of the calendar year. The results here are different from previous ones which suggest that the balance between cold and warm trends of sea surface temperature anomaly is the mechanism involved. The cold trend is caused by the upwelling Kelvin wave from upwelling Rossby wave reflected at the western boundary, excited by the westerly anomaly stress over the central Pacific and amplified by the seasonal variation of the coupled strength in its way propagating westward. The warm trend is caused by the Kelvin wave forced by the western wind stress over the middle and eastern equatorial Pacific. The cause of the differences is due to the opposite phase of the seasonal variation of the upwelling mean to that in the observation and an improper parameterization scheme for the effects of the seasonal varia-tion of the upwelling mean on the ENSO cycle in previous studies.  相似文献

This paper studies the role of magnetospheric factors, such as convection and energetic electron precipitation during the formation of positive disturbances in the total electron content under the conditions of the summer evening ionosphere. à numerical model of the ionosphere and plasmasphere, where time variations in the magnetospheric convection velocity and electron precipitation parameters correspond to the main phase of a magnetic storm, has been used for this purpose. It has been indicated that the total electron content sharply increases (the “dusk effect”) in the eastern and western sectors at approximately the same geomagnetic latitudes corresponding to the subauroral zone provided that a sudden storm commencement is registered in the morning hours. local time. This peak of the total electron content is formed as a result of joint reconstruction of the magnetospheric convection pattern and energetic electron precipitation during the main phase of a storm. In this case, magnetospheric convection plays the main role, raising the F2 layer by 40–80 km into the region with a lower recombination rate.  相似文献

High-pressure phase relations in the system NaAl3Si3O11–CaAl4Si2O11 were examined at 13–23 GPa and 1600–1900 °C, using a multianvil apparatus. A Ca-aluminosilicate with CaAl4Si2O11 composition, designated CAS phase, is stable above about 13 GPa at 1600 °C. In the system NaAl3Si3O11–CaAl4Si2O11, the CAS phase dissolving NaAl3Si3O11 component coexists with jadeite, corundum and stishovite below 22 GPa, above which the CAS phase coexists with Na-rich calcium ferrite, corundum and stishovite. At 1600 °C, the solubility of NaAl3Si3O11 component in the CAS solid solution increases with increasing pressure up to about 50 mol% at about 22 GPa, above which the solubility decreases with pressure. The maximum solubility of NaAl3Si3O11 component in the CAS phase increases with temperature up to around 70 mol% at 1900 °C at 22 GPa. The dissociation of NaAlSi2O6 jadeite to NaAlSiO4 calcium ferrite plus stishovite occurs at about 22 GPa. Lattice parameters of the CAS phase with the hexagonal Ba-ferrite structure change with increase of the NaAl3Si3O11 component: a-axis decreases and c-axis slightly increases, resulting in decrease of molar volume. Enthalpies of the CAS solid solutions were measured by high-temperature drop-solution calorimetry techniques. The results show that enthalpy of hypothetical NaAl3Si3O11 CAS phase is much higher than the mixture of NaAlSi2O6 jadeite, corundum and stishovite and is close to that of the mixture of NaAlSiO4 calcium ferrite, corundum and stishovite. When we adopt the Na:Ca ratio of 75:25 of the natural Na-rich CAS phase in a shocked Martian meteorite, Zagami, the phase relations determined above suggest that the natural CAS phase crystallized from melt at pressure around 22 GPa and temperature close to or higher than 2000–2200 °C. The inferred P, T conditions are consistent with those estimated using other high-pressure minerals in the shocked meteorite.  相似文献

{1} The first phase of the superstorm on April 6, 2000 was studied based on the analogy between systems of magnetospheric currents and wire electric currents. The conventional dataset supplemented with maps of ionospheric equivalent currents (ECs) and field-aligned currents (FACs) was also used. The application of this analogy made it possible to introduce spatial R.N inhomogeneities into FAC distributions in the two-dimensional ionosphere and three types of meridional current systems, MCS-0, MCS-1, and MCS-2, providing electric coupling of three Iijima and Potemra FAC Regions. This basis was used to describe the formation and observed dynamics of ionospheric auroral electrojets and three-dimensional current systems in a disturbed magnetosphere-ionosphere system. The results the modify known paradigms of the substorm current wedge (SCW). A new important fact was noted: simultaneously with the beginning of the disturbance expansion phase due to the stepwise growth in the dynamic pressure of the solar wind (SW), the stepwise growth in the area of polar cap and in the electromagnetic energy flux coming to the magnetosphere from the SW were observed.  相似文献

This paper describes the three phenomena observed in full wave experiments: 1. the amplitudes (absolute value) of the first compressional and shear arrivals have the same variation rules; 2. the phases of the first compressional and shear arrivals are always opposite to each other; and 3. the amplitude variation periods of the first compressional and shear arrivals are 2π. A full analysis and interpretation points out that these phenomena should appear under the full wave logging condition. The geomagnetic observations, performed at the global network of ground-based observatories during the recovery phase of the superstrong magnetic storm of July 15–17, 2000 (Bastille Day Event, Dst = ?301 nT), have been analyzed. It has been indicated that magnetic activity did not cease at the beginning of the storm recovery phase but abruptly shifted to polar latitudes. Polar cap substorms were accompanied by the development of intense geomagnetic pulsations in the morning sector of auroral latitudes. In this case oscillations at frequencies of 1–2 and 3–4 mHz were observed at geomagnetic latitudes higher and lower than ~62°, respectively. It has been detected that the spectra of variations in the solar wind dynamic pressure and the amplitude spectra of geomagnetic pulsations on the Earth’s surface were similar. Wave activity unexpectedly appeared in the evening sector of auroral latitudes after the development of near-midnight polar substorms. It has been established that the generation of Pc5 pulsations (in this case at frequencies of 3–4 mHz) was spatially asymmetric about noon during the late stage of the recovery phase of the discussed storm as took place during the recovery phase of the superstrong storms of October and November 2003. Intense oscillations were generated in the morning sector at the auroral latitudes and in the postnoon sector at the subauroral and middle latitudes. The cause of such an asymmetry, typical of the recovery phase of superstrong magnetic storms, remains unknown.  相似文献

Automatic phase picking is a critical procedure for seismic data processing, especially for a huge amount of seismic data recorded by a large-scale portable seismic array. In this study is presented a new method used for automatic accurate onset phase picking based on the proporty of dense seismic array observations. In our method, the Akaike's information criterion (AIC) for the single channel observation and the least-squares cross-correlation for the multi-channel observation are combined together. The tests by the seismic array observation data after triggering with the short-term average/long-term average (STA/LTA) technique show that the phase picking error is less than 0.3 s for local events by using the single channel AIC algorithm. In terms of multi-channel least-squares cross-correlation technique, the clear teleseismic P onset can be detected reliably. Even for the teleseismic records with high noise level, our algorithm is also able to effectually avoid manual misdetections.  相似文献

GPS satellite transmissions have been used to study the development of moderateionospheric phase irregularities. The use of the multi-station, multi-path observations of the GPSbeacons has allowed the study of the time development of irregularities as a function of latitudeand longitude of individual storms. The basic storms studied were those of January 10, April10–11, and May 15, 1997. The results from studying these storms showed the unique nature ofeach storm. For the three storms, data were available from four stations near 65° CorrectedGeomagnetic Latitude (CGL); the stations ranged from Fairbanks to Tromso. In addition, datafrom higher latitude stations are analysed. For the January storm, irregularity development startedat Fairbanks. Then as magnetic midnight approached longitudes to the west, the storm effectsreached the Tromso–Kiruna longitudes. For the April magnetic storm, at 65° CGL, irregularitydevelopment maximized at approximately the same UT at stations ranging in longitude fromFairbanks to Kiruna. For this storm, the development of irregularities was dominated by stormtime. The May storm irregularities were dominated by magnetic local time once the stormcommenced.With both total electron content and rate of change of total electron content (phasefluctuations) available, it was noted that over periods of minutes, clumps of irregularities wereaccompanied by increases in TEC. In addition total electron content increased over large areasduring maximum magnetic activity in the auroral oval. During the storms, ionograms showed thatthe altitude of maximum electron density fluctuated; at times the dominant maximum frequencywas noted in the E layer and at other times in the F layer. This fluctuation of electron density ineach layer during storms led to the conclusion that the turbulent activity within the auroral regiondominated the development of irregularities. The irregularities that are noted on trans-ionosphericpaths are therefore thought to be in both the E and the F layers with a combination of structuredhard and soft electron precipitation and coupling initiating the turbulent activity. The generalpositive correlation of one periods phase scintillation data with the Ultra Violet Imagerobservations as shown on POLAR indicates the importance of 100–200 km precipitation.However the very high occurrence of spread F at high latitudes as shown by both ground andsatellite ionosondes indicates the considerable contributions of F layer irregularities.  相似文献

We performed a statistical and spectral analysis of variations in two main parameters of the ionospheric F2 layer: critical frequency (f 0F2) and peak height (h m F2), recorded at an ionospheric station in Irkutsk (52.5°N, 104.0°E) in the period from December 1, 2006, to January 31, 2008, under low solar activity conditions. It was found that the f 0F2 and h m F2 variations contained quasi-harmonic oscillations with periods T n = 24/n h (n = 1−7). We studied the seasonal changes in the mean and median values of monthly f 0F2 and h m F2 time series, their spectra, as well as the amplitudes and phases of the diurnal (n = 1) and semidiurnal (n = 2) variations. It is shown that the amplitude of the diurnal f 0F2 variations was maximal in October–March 2007 and minimal in May–August 2007. The diurnal f 0F2 variations were maximal at noon in the winter months and at 1600 LT in the summer months. The semidiurnal f 0F2 variations had two maxima: a primary maximum in December and January and a secondary maximum in May–July. The maxima of semidiurnal f 0F2 variations were shifted from 0000 and 1200 LT in winter to 0900 and 2100 LT in summer.  相似文献

In the used model, the quasistationary electric field in the atmosphere of the Earth is obtained by solving the conductivity equation. The penetration characteristics of the electric field from the Earth’s surface into the ionosphere depend on both atmospheric and ionosphere conductivity. The ionosphere is taken into account by setting a special condition on the upper boundary of the atmosphere.
