Abstract

The overlying rock thickness of a subsea tunnel controls its vertical line. It not only ensures the safety and stability of tunnel construction period and operation period, but also ensures the economy of subsea tunnel. In the current research, few papers give full consideration to the complex indicators of prediction the overlying rock thickness. However, in this study, a hybrid intelligent system was established to predict the overlying rock thickness of a subsea tunnel based on Qingdao Kiaochow Bay Subsea Tunnel, China. The sea depth, basic quality index of rock mass, soft soil layer thickness, permeability coefficient, and construction management level were selected as the main factors influencing the overlying rock thickness. Using the data obtained from project site exploration, objective weight factors were calculated using rough set theory, and subjective weight factors were calculated using the analytic hierarchy process. Furthermore, the combination of weights was obtained for each factor. Finally, the weight of influencing factors was incorporated into the extension model, and the overlying rock thickness of pending section was calculated. The results of overlying rock thickness prediction model are consistent with the actual value, indicating that the model has good engineering applicability and application value.  相似文献

When a subway train moves through a tunnel, vibrations are generated and transmitted to soils around the tunnel and adjacent structures. Subway train operation has an impact on the shield tunnel lining and the soils around tunnel, especially soft soils that are mostly marine sediments having poor engineering properties. An elastoplastic dynamic finite difference model was built by considering the hysteretic behavior of these marine soft soils and the interaction between the soils and the tunnel to study their dynamic response. Elastic and plastic constitutive models were adopted for tunnel lining and soft soils, respectively. Hysteretic damping was obtained with the Hardin–Drnevich model to reflect the hysteretic behavior of soil under the dynamic load. There are two peaks of the cumulative vertical displacement within 2?s of train moving and it reaches a dynamic balance after 2?s. The soil layers below the shield tunnel are under the compression and the soil layers above the tunnel are in the extrusion state, and turn to uplift. Maximum bending moment and shear forces of lining vary and appear at different places. A parametric study indicates that the speed of train and the interface have an impact on the dynamic behavior of soft soils.  相似文献

Until now more than 14 subway lines are in operation and some new lines are being built in the coastal city Shanghai. The longitudinal settlement of shield tunnel has significant effect on the safety of the subway operation. In this paper, the deformation of the shield tunnel and the surrounding soil were analyzed by the establishment of a three-dimensional model. The vertical displacements of four paths (Path 1 is on the ground; Path 2 is at the top of the tunnel; Path 3 is in the middle of the tunnel; Path 4 is at the bottom of the tunnel) are affected by the nature of the soil. The horizontal displacement is smaller than the vertical displacement and horizontal displacement of the clay is larger than that of the sand. The distribution of the pore pressure changes with soil properties around the tunnel. The pore pressure of the sand layer is larger than that of the clay layer at the same depth of underlying soil.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

An evaluation of the stability of subsea tunnels during operation is very important considering the risks involved with subsea tunnels. Although a large volume of monitoring information can be obtained, back analysis has been performed based on the internal displacement. In this study, the efficiency of an estimation of the safety of an operating subsea tunnel has been improved by implementing the back analysis algorithm based on various monitoring information. The differential evolution algorithm was adopted for back analysis of an operating subsea tunnel. The differential evolution algorithm was improved to accommodate the multiple target variables for back analysis, such as the elastic modulus, cohesion, friction angle of the ground, and the time-dependent elastic modulus of concrete lining. In addition, the elastic modulus of the concrete lining and the properties of reinforced ground can be evaluated with the proposed algorithm using a range of monitoring data, such as the internal displacement and stress acting on the lining. In summary, back analysis with a differential evolution algorithm can be used to evaluate the stability of an operating subsea tunnel.  相似文献

The presence of a fractured zone at a tunnel face can threaten the stability of the tunnel by causing water leakage and degradation of the soil strength. In this case, to stabilize the tunnel face, the pore water pressure is generally reduced and the loss of soil particles is prevented by installing drainpipes. The installation of drainpipes, however, can cause the concentration of flow channels and other ground instability problems. In this paper, a novel pin-holed pipe anchor is proposed to overcome the problems occurring in subsea tunnels. The pin-holed pipe anchor is a pipe-type support member designed to reinforce the ground while simultaneously enabling flow into the tunnel. Here, the design requirements of the pin-holed pipe anchor were examined through material tests, and the structural–hydraulic characteristics of the pin-holed pipe anchor were investigated through a model test. Furthermore, the applicability of the pin-holed pipe anchor to an actual tunnel was evaluated by numerical analysis of actual tunnels. Through selection of an appropriate perforated drainage area and bonded length, the pin-holed pipe anchor contributed to the improvement of the structural and hydraulic stabilities of the tunnel.  相似文献

Abstract

Pipes buried in soft ground can be damaged due to the vertical and lateral movement of the ground during the construction of the embankment. To investigate such a movement of the soft ground, full-scale tests using embankment piles and stabilizing piles were conducted for 70?days. A pile-supported embankment has been used to reduce the deformation of soft ground by transferring the embankment load through piles to the firm layer below the soft ground, whereas stabilizing piles have been employed to resist the lateral earth pressure that is induced in soft ground by embankment loads. The Coupling Area (CA), which was defined as the quantitative index to determine the resistance effect of both settlement and lateral flow of the soft ground when the embankment was reinforced, is adapted. The analysis results of the CA indicate that the piled embankment was more effective for preventing the damage to buried pipe installed near the embankment, while the stabilizing piles had almost the same effect as the piled embankment when the pipe was buried far away from the embankment.  相似文献

This study used the strength reduction method to analyze the seismic stability of a subsea tunnel under the effects of seepage and temperature. Excess pore water pressure within the rock mass was first eliminated by calculating the consolidation; then, an earthquake wave was applied to begin the dynamic and time-history analysis and to obtain the maximum horizontal displacement of the model boundary. Finally, a temperature field model was established for the thermal analysis of the structure. The temperature of each node of the structure was regarded as a form of outside load applied to the reduction model; both sides of the vertical horizontal displacement of the boundary nodes and gravity were used as inputs for the static analysis when the vertex horizontal displacement reached its maximum value. By continuously decreasing the shear strength parameters, the safety factor of the tunnel structure was determined. The results show that the plastic zone first appeared in a smaller range on both sides of the tunnel arch feet near the lining and vault of both sides. The safety factor decreased with increasing water depth and overburden layer thickness.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of an investigation into the effect of lining leakage on the structural performance of lining in subsea tunnels. A parametric study on a number of hypothetical subsea tunnels was conducted within the framework of two-dimensional stress–pore pressure coupled finite element analysis with due consideration of tunnel cover depth, depth of water to seabed, and ground type. The results indicate that the lining leakage increases axial thrust as well as bending moment, with more pronounced increases in bending moment. Also shown is that there exists an increasing trend of leakage induced lining forces with an increase in the water depth above the seabed but with no significant influence from the cover depth. It is also shown that the progressive development of leakage induced lining forces can be best fitted with an exponential function which can be used to predict the lining force increase for a given tunnel condition. Practical implications of the findings are discussed.  相似文献

Abstract

The geological conditions of subsea tunnels are extremely complex, and a water inrush disaster is prone to occur when crossing a fault. Based on a geological analysis using cloud theory, analytic hierarchy process (AHP), and entropy weight theory, we aim to establish a normal cloud model with combination weight for water inrush risk evaluation in subsea tunnels. We select seven main factors, namely, the surrounding rock grade, rock integrity, overburden thickness, seawater thickness, tunnel section, permeability coefficient, and construction technology level as risk assessment indicators for the evaluation model. The risk is divided into five levels, and the numerical characters of the cloud model are calculated based on the standard of each risk level. The subjective weight and the objective weight are determined using AHP and the entropy weight method. The combination weight is calculated using the Delphi method. The comprehensive certainty degree is used to determine the risk level of water inrush. The model is applied to the Qingdao subsea tunnel to evaluate the water inrush risk crossing the F4-1 fault, and the results are basically consistent with the actual excavation conditions. This article provides a new idea for the risk assessment of water inrush in the subsea tunnel.  相似文献

Abstract

This article presents the performance of the short-term bearing capacity on soft clay soil treated by Kenaf geotextile under vertical loading via a small-scale modelling test at unit gravity. The ground model was formulated by consolidating kaolin in a rigid testing compartment. In the loading test, the strip footing was represented by a rigid footing. For the treated case, a series of tests were performed to examine the effects of the burial depth of the Kenaf geotextile on the bearing capacity of the soft soil. The Kenaf geotextile was laid beneath the rigid footing (at the ground surface) and at 50, 75 and 100?mm depth from the soil surface. All the measured results of the Kenaf geotextile treated ground were compared with the untreated ground. The incorporation of Kenaf fibre geotextile was observed to enhance the bearing capacity of soft cohesive clay up to 281% depending upon the depth of the installed geotextile. The geotextile at the surface provided the highest bearing capacity and sustained the highest displacement at failure. The outcome of this research will promote the use of natural fibre geotextiles as sustainable earth reinforcement in temporary earthwork applications.  相似文献

More and more deep-seated long submarine tunnels are under construction, which greatly promotes the development of tunneling technology. The complex geological conditions and frequent geological disasters have become great challenges during submarine tunnel excavation. Among them, casualties and economic losses caused by water inrush are on the top levels in all kinds of tunnel geological disasters. Escape routes after water inrush from the working face during submarine tunnel excavation are investigated and optimized in the present study. Numerical simulations are performed using the FLUENT software to probe water flow characteristics after inrush. Two common cases of water inrush during double-line submarine tunnel excavation are researched. The variation rules of velocity and pressure in the tunnels after inrush are analyzed and discussed. The optimized escape routes are achieved. Finally, the water movement laws after inrush from the working face under different excavation situations are further discussed by comparing the two case studies. Water inrush of high velocity occurs on one working face of the double-line submarine tunnel, and the research results are as follows: (1) The velocity close to the tunnel side wall is the minimum, while it is the maximum in the middle position. (2) The pressure changes greatly at the intersection area of the cross passage and the tunnels. (3) The velocity and pressure nearby the working face without water inrush are both small. (4) The velocity at the high location of the cross passage is relatively small.  相似文献

A very soft ground constructed by dredging and hydraulic fill has characteristics such as high water content, high initial void ratio, and very little effective stress. Estimating, with thorough considerations about consolidation properties and the initial stress associated with each layer's distinctive stress history, is essential in order to predict a reasonable consolidation settlement of soft ground. By investigating a construction project for national industrial complexes at a coastal area in southern Korea that experienced reclamation and ground improvement adapting PVD, various laboratory tests to find consolidation properties were performed with undisturbed samples collected from the entire depth of the marine clay fill layer and original clay layer. Through the investigation, this report suggests relationships of heterogeneity of permeability in both vertical and horizontal directions, void ratio-effective stress, and void ratio-permeability. Considering the fact that the original clay layer was under the process of consolidation by load due to hydraulic fill from the top, estimating the appropriate initial stress of each layer is critical to predict the future process of consolidation settlement determined by time. In order to obtain the initial stresses of two layers with different stress histories related to consolidation, cone penetration and dissipation tests were conducted.  相似文献

Analytical solutions for water inflow and water pressure based on steady-state water inflow into a circular subsea tunnel in a semi-infinite aquifer are deduced depending on the rock permeability, drainage at the lining, and grouting parameters. Based on the parameters of the Qingdao Jiaozhou Bay subsea tunnel, the differences between the proposed solutions and three previous methods are analyzed. Comparisons of the results of different methods verify the validity of the proposed analytical solutions and manifest the superiorities of the proposed solutions in reflecting the effects of grouting and lining structure on the seepage problems in a subsea tunnel. Discussion of the lining structure is also made and we conclude that “block-based and limited drainage” should be the design principle of lining structures. Finally, the method of identifying the most rational and economical grouting parameters is presented.  相似文献

Abstract

Soil solidification technology can create an artificial hard shell on a soft soil surface but the type and proportion of the curing agent, the construction technology, and the strengthening depth have large influences on the strengthening effect and engineering cost. This study introduces a new technology of soil solidification whereby an artificial hard shell layer is used as a new method to improve the soft ground. For the in-situ solidification technology, the soil and curing agent are mixed well by using a strong stirring machine so that the soil is strengthened rapidly and forms a hard crust. We introduce the key technology of the in-situ soil solidification method and determine the in-situ crust carrying capacity. The indoor experiment on the curing agent proportions is validated with field tests and a vane shear test, static penetration test, and plate loading test are used to evaluate the reinforcement effect. The experimental results show that the in-situ curing technology of dredged fill processing markedly reduced the reinforcement depth range of the soil water content, improved the physical and mechanical indices, and increased the bearing capacity and strength of the artificial hard shell layer, thereby fully meeting the requirements for the bearing capacity of construction machinery.  相似文献

This paper reviews the major challenges involved in reliable electric power delivery to remote deep water enhanced oil recovery (EOR) systems. As the oil well matures, top side based booster systems are not economical, and hence, subsea based booster systems are required. Such EOR processes require subsea systems to be operated at varying power and voltage levels, and this requires establishing subsea power stations with long tiebacks from the shore. Subsea stations carry out safe voltage step-down, distribution and conversion of electrical power in the order of mega watts. Breakdowns in subsea based EOR systems lead to huge production losses, and system retrieval for repair and maintenance is very costly and time consuming, and therefore systems need to be highly reliable. This paper describes the technical challenges involved in subsea variable speed motor drives, long step out power transmission, subsea energy storage requirements for safe start up and emergency shutdown, thermal and humidity management inside pressure rated enclosures, fault localization, pressure tolerant electronics and bio-fouling. Emerging advancements in electrical, power electronic, power transmission, energy storage and packaging technologies are reviewed, giving the confidence that the present technical maturity would be able to drive the development of reliable subsea based EOR systems.  相似文献

Immersed tube tunnels are usually placed on soft soil layers in cross-sea tunnelling engineering. Owing to the influence of stratum conditions and slope design, the longitudinal distribution of substratum layers is generally uneven. Thus, the inhomogeneous deformation of the element-joint becomes the key factor in the failure of the immersed tube tunnel. Therefore, a corresponding calculation method for joint deformation is needed to explore the deformation law of immersed tube tunnels. By constructing a three-section immersed tube tunnel analysis model (TTM), the relationship between the two types of deformation of the immersed tube tunnel structure in a longitudinal nonuniform soft soil foundation is described, and the deformation characteristics of the immersed structure under different boundaries are discussed. Based on the mechanical behaviour of the joint and foundation, according to the Timoshenko beam on the Vlasov two-parameter foundation (VTM), considering the tidal cyclic load during the operation and maintenance period, an example analysis is given. Moreover, the deformation characteristics and development trend of the immersed tube tunnel under the influence of different soil layers are discussed. The obtained results have a certain guiding significance for the deformation calculation of immersed tube tunnels.

Subsea production system has been increasingly used in recent South China Sea offshore developments. With deepwater applications, constituent parts of subsea systems become more complicated and enlarged. Increases on the weight and geometry of each component bring challenges to installations. A recent accomplished deployment on a subsea massive jumper shows the weight and length have been up to 120 tons and 90 m, respectively with sophisticated geometry. It is considerably difficult to install heavy and large subsea structures, especially in South China Sea where severe environmental conditions are common. In addition, deepwater deployment may alter natural frequency of the hoisting system and the altered frequency may be close to possible environmental conditions. To deal with the above two issues, traditionally, engineers need to carry out series of complicated numerical analyses which are on case basis and significantly time-consuming. Existing studies focus on the optimization on analysis techniques by conducting laboratory testing and numerical simulations. However, easy-to-use guidance on massive subsea structure installation are somewhat limited. The studies presented in this paper aim to achieve a simplified guidance which can briefly screen the cases subject to axial resonance and provide visible correlations between hoisting system integrity and key installation parameters.  相似文献
