This paper presents a discrete-time quasi-sliding mode controller for an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) in the presence of parameter uncertainties and a long sampling interval. The AUV, named VORAM, is used as a model for the verification of the proposed control algorithm. Simulations of depth control and contouring control are performed for a numerical model of the AUV with full nonlinear equations of motion to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control schemes when the vehicle has a long sampling interval. By using the discrete-time quasi-sliding mode control law, experiments on depth control of the AUV are performed in a towing tank. The controller makes the system stable in the presence of system uncertainties and even external disturbances without any observer nor any predictor producing high rate estimates of vehicle states. As the sampling interval becomes large, the effectiveness of the proposed control law is more prominent when compared with the conventional sliding mode controller  相似文献

Stability Analysis on Speed Control System of Autonomous Underwater Vehicle   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
The stability of the motion control system is one of the decisive factors of the control quality for Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV).The divergence of control, which the unstable system may be brought about,is fatal to the operation of AUV.The stability analysis of the PD and S-surface speed controllers based on the Lyapunov' s direct method is proposed in this paper. After decoupling the six degree-of-freedom (DOF) motions of the AUV,the axial dynamic behavior is discussed and the condition is deduced,in which the parameters selection within stability domain can guarantee the system asymptotically stable. The experimental results in a tank and on the sea have successfully verified the algorithm reliability, which can be served as a good reference for analyzing other AUV nonlinear control systems.  相似文献

This paper describes the estimation of hydrodynamic coefficients and the control algorithm based on a nonlinear mathematical modeling for a test bed autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) named by SNUUV I (Seoul National University Underwater Vehicle I).A six degree of freedom mathematical model for SNUUV I is derived with linear and nonlinear hydrodynamic coefficients, which are estimated with the help of a potential code and also the system identification using multi-variable regression.A navigation algorithm is developed using three ranging sonars, pressure sensor and two inclinometers keeping towing tank applications in mind. Based on the mathematical model, a simulation program using a model-based control algorithm is designed for heading control and wall following control of SNUUV I.It is demonstrated numerically that the navigation system together with controller guides the vehicle to follow the desired heading and path with a sufficient accuracy. Therefore the model-based control algorithm can be designed efficiently using the system identification method based on vehicle motion experiments with the appropriate navigation system.  相似文献

The large roll motion of ships sailing in the seaway is undesirable because it may lead to the seasickness of crew and unsafety of vessels and cargoes, thus it needs to be reduced. The aim of this study is to design a rudder roll stabilization system based on Radial Basis Function Neural Network (RBFNN) control algorithm for ship advancing in the seaway only through rudder actions. In the proposed stabilization system, the course keeping controller and the roll damping controller were accomplished by utilizing modified Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) training algorithm, and implemented in parallel to maintain the orientation and reduce roll motion simultaneously. The nonlinear mathematical model, which includes manoeuvring characteristics and wave disturbances, was adopted to analyse ship’s responses. Various sailing states and the external wave disturbances were considered to validate the performance and robustness of the proposed roll stabilizer. The results indicate that the designed control system performs better than the Back Propagation (BP) neural networks based control system and conventional Proportional-Derivative (PD) based control system in terms of reducing roll motion for ship in waves.  相似文献

The paper studies the parametric stochastic roll motion in the random waves. The differential equation of the ship parametric roll under random wave is established with considering the nonlinear damping and ship speed. Random sea surface is treated as a narrow-band stochastic process, and the stochastic parametric excitation is studied based on the effective wave theory. The nonlinear restored arm function obtained from the numerical simulation is expressed as the approximate analytic function. By using the stochastic averaging method, the differential equation of motion is transformed into Ito's stochastic differential equation. The steady-state probability density function of roll motion is obtained, and the results are validated with the numerical simulation and model test.  相似文献

The problem of controlling an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) in a diving maneuver is addressed. Having a simple controller which performs satisfactorily in the presence of dynamical uncertainties calls for a design using the sliding mode approach, based on a dominant linear model and bounds on the nonlinear perturbations of the dynamics. Nonadaptive and adaptive techniques are considered, leading to the design of robust controllers that can adjust to changing dynamics and operating conditions. The problem of using the observed state in the control design is addressed, leading to a sliding mode control system based on input-output signals in terms of drive-phase command and depth measurement. Numerical simulations using a full set of nonlinear equations of motion show the effectiveness of the proposed techniques  相似文献

Robust Nonlinear Path-Following Control of an AUV   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
This paper develops a robust nonlinear controller that asymptotically drives the dynamic model of an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) onto a predefined path at a constant forward speed. A kinematic controller is first derived, and extended to cope with vehicle dynamics by resorting to backstepping and Lyapunov-based techniques. Robustness to vehicle parameter uncertainty is addressed by incorporating a hybrid parameter adaptation scheme. The resulting nonlinear adaptive control system is formally shown and it yields asymptotic convergence of the vehicle to the path. Simulations illustrate the performance of the derived controller .   相似文献

The motion of an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) is controllable even with reduced control authority such as in the event of an actuator failure. In this paper we describe a technique for synthesizing controls for underactuated AUV's and show how to use this technique to provide adaptation to changes in control authority. Our framework is a motion control system architecture which includes both feed-forward control as well as feedback control. We confine ourselves to kinematic models and exploit model nonlinearities to synthesize controls. Our results are illustrated for two examples, the first a yaw maneuver of an AUV using only roll and pitch actuation, and the second a “parking maneuver” for an AUV. Experimental results for the yaw maneuver example are described  相似文献

The purpose of this study is to develop maneuvering models and systems of a simulator to improve the motion performance of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) at the preliminary design stages in advance. The AUVs simulation systems based on the standard submarine equations of motion in six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) integrated with the Euler-Rodriguez quaternion method for representing singularity-free AUV attitude and time-saving calculation, and with a nonlinear control model for maneuvering and depth control simulations, time-marching in the fourth-order Runge-Kutta scheme. For validation of the simulation codes, results of the ISiMI AUV open-loop tests including turning test and zigzag test as well as an AUV simulator on the basis of Euler-angle method were used to compare with the quaternion-based AUV simulator. The computational results from the proposed simulator agree well with those from both the ISiMI AUV experiments and the Euler-angle based simulations. Additionally, a new maneuvering procedure, namely "put-out" was implemented to test directional stability for a large-scale AUV in the proposed AUV simulator that can be considered for vehicles in space as well as in constrained planes.  相似文献

This study proposes a method for identification of the nonlinear dynamic model of an AUV while some states are unmeasured; hence, it concentrates on a nonlinear “state and parameter estimation” issue. In this method, a local linearization is used for solving the nonlinear dynamics based on the extended Kalman filter (EKF), and a particle filter (PF) is used to minimize errors and variances of the nonlinear system. In other words, the PF is combined with the EKF in the form of the extended Kalman particle filter (EKPF). The EKPF method is independent of the initial values and satisfies the limits of the parameters and also the assumption that the hydrodynamic coefficients are constant. Hence, it is shown when the ranges or signs of some parameters are known, the EKPF is a more accurate estimator than the EKF. Moreover, a new simulation is done using the model estimated by the EKPF and the results are compared and validated with the measured data of a new experimental test. It is shown that the obtained model can predict the trajectory path with the total normalized root-mean-square error (NRMSE) of 14% and the surge mean speed with the NRMSE of 5%; and it describes the 6DOF motion of the AUV more accurate than the EKF model.  相似文献

Active control of ship roll motion with proportional and derivative controller, linear quadratic regulator, generalized predictive control (GPC), and deadbeat predictive control, is studied by using a U-tube water tank. For the predictive control, system identification is applied to update the parameters of linear ship roll model with U-tube tank when the ship dynamics changes. Numerical simulations show that GPC has the best performance and the U-tube tank is effective in ship roll mitigation.  相似文献

A six-degree-of-freedom model for the maneuvering of an underwater vehicle is used and a sliding-mode autopilot is designed for the combined steering, diving, and speed control functions. In flight control applications of this kind, difficulties arise because the system to be controlled is highly nonlinear and coupled, and there is a good deal of parameter uncertainty and variation with operational conditions. The development of variable-structure control in the form of sliding modes has been shown to provide robustness that is expected to be quite remarkable for AUV autopilot design. It is shown that a multivariable sliding-mode autopilot based on state feedback, designed assuming decoupled modeling, is quite satisfactory for the combined speed, steering, and diving response of a slow AUV. The influence of speed, modeling nonlinearity, uncertainty, and disturbances, can be effectively compensated, even for complex maneuvering. Waypoint acquisition based on line-of-sight guidance is used to achieve path tracking  相似文献

A neural-network-based learning control scheme for the motion control of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) is described. The scheme has a number of advantages over the classical control schemes and conventional adaptive control techniques. The dynamics of the controlled vehicle need not be fully known. The controller with the aid of a gain layer learns the dynamics and adapts fast to give the correct control action. The dynamic response and tracking performance could be accurately controlled by adjusting the network learning rate. A modified direct control scheme using multilayered neural network architecture is used in the studies with backpropagation as the learning algorithm. Results of simulation studies using nonlinear AUV dynamics are described in detail. The robustness of the control system to sudden and slow varying disturbances in the dynamics is studied and the results are presented  相似文献

In order to predict the roll motion of a floating structure in irregular waves accurately, it is crucial to estimate the unknown damping coefficients and restoring moment coefficients in the nonlinear roll motion equation. In this paper, a parameter identification method based on a combination of random decrement technique and support vector regression (SVR) is proposed to identify the coefficients in the roll motion equation of a floating structure by using the measured roll response in irregular waves. Case studies based on the simulation data and model test data respectively are designed to validate the applicability and validity of the identification method. Firstly, the roll motion of a vessel is simulated by using the known coefficients from literature, and the simulated data are used to identify the coefficients in the roll motion equation. The identified coefficients are compared with the known values to validate the applicability of the identification method. Then the roll motion is predicted by using the identified coefficients. The prediction results are compared with the simulated data, and good agreement is achieved. Secondly, the model test data of a FPSO are used to identify the coefficients in the roll motion equation. Then the random decrement signature of the roll motion is predicted by using the identified coefficients and compared with that obtained from the model test data, and satisfactory agreement is achieved. From this study, it is shown that the identification method can be effectively applied to identify the coefficients in the nonlinear roll motion equation in irregular waves.  相似文献

$H_{2}$ and $H_{infty}$ designs applied to the diving and course control of an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) considering the presence of wave disturbances are described. The six-degrees-of-freedom equations of motion of the vehicle are described as a linear model and divided into three noninteracting (or lightly interacting) subsystems for speed control, steering, and diving. This work is based on the slender form of the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS, Monterey, CA) AUV, considering that the subsystems can be controlled by means of two single-screw propellers, a rudder, port and starboard bow planes, and a stern plane. A model of the AUV dynamics is presented with the first- and the second-order wave force disturbances, i.e., the Froude–Kriloff and diffraction forces. An algorithm of nonlinear regression for the rationalization of the subsurface sea spectrum is provided in this case study. The obtained results are analyzed and evaluated in the frequency domain comparing the controllers performance considering or not the inclusion of the model of waves.   相似文献

In this paper, a novel model reference adaptive controller with anti-windup compensator (MRAC_AW) is proposed for an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). Input saturations and parametric uncertainties are among the practical problems in the control of autonomous vehicles. Hence, utilizing a proper adaptive controller with the ability to handle actuator saturations is of a particular value. The proposed technique of this paper incorporates the well-posed model reference adaptive control with integral state feedback and a modern anti-windup scheme to present an appropriate performance in practical conditions of an AUV. Stability of the proposed method is analyzed by Lyapunov theory. Then, the proposed controller is implemented in the hardware in the loop simulation of AUV. For this purpose, the introduced method is implemented in an onboard computer to be checked in a real-time dynamic simulation environment. Obtained results in the presence of real hardware of system, actuators, computational delays and real-time execution verify the effectiveness of proposed scheme.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a mathematical model including seakeeping and maneuvering characteristics to analyze the roll reduction for a ship traveling with the stabilizer fin in random waves. The self-tuning PID controller based on the neural network theory is applied to adjust optimal stabilizer fin angles to reduce the ship roll motion in waves. Two multilayer neural networks, including the system identification neural network (NN1) and the parameter self-tuning neural network (NN2), are adopted in the study. The present control technique can save the time for searching the optimal PID gains in any sea states. The simulation results show that the present developed self-tuning PID control scheme based on the neural network theory is indeed quite practical and sufficient for the ship roll reduction in the realistic sea.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the mitigation of porpoising instability of high-speed planing vessels using controllable transom flap and dynamic feedback. A control oriented model that captures both steady-state and dynamic characteristics is presented and used to facilitate the model-based control design. A nonlinear controller is developed based on the feedback linearization method to achieve asymptotic stability of the planing boat, thus avoiding porpoising at high speeds. We first show that the full-state nonlinear dynamic model describing the ship motion is not feedback linearizable. A state transformation is then constructed to decompose the model into a linearizable subsystem and a nonlinear internal dynamic subsystem. A reduced order state feedback is shown next to stabilize the planing vessel motion around the equilibrium point. Analysis of the region of attraction is also performed to provide an assessment of the effective safe operating range around the equilibrium point.  相似文献
