The combined U-series/electron spin resonance (ESR) dating method was applied to nine teeth from two Early Pleistocene archaeological sites located in the Orce area (Guadix-Baza Basin, Southern Spain): Fuente Nueva-3 (FN-3) and Barranco León (BL). The combination of biostratigraphy and magnetostratigraphy places both sites between the Olduvai and Jaramillo subchrons (1.78–1.07 Ma).Our results highlight the difficulty of dating such old sites and point out the limits of the combined U-series/ESR dating method based on the US model. We identified several sources of uncertainties that may lead to inaccurate age estimates. Seven samples could not be dated because the dental tissues had (230Th/234U) activity ratios higher than equilibrium, indicating that uranium had probably leached from these tissues. It was however possible to calculate numerical estimates for two of the teeth, both from FN-3. One yielded a Middle Pleistocene age that seems to be strongly underestimated; the other provided an age of 1.19 ± 0.21 Ma, in agreement with data obtained from independent methods. The latter result gives encouragement that there are samples that can be used for routine dating of old sites.  相似文献

The Ciemas gold mining area is located in the Sunda arc volcanic rock belt, West Java, Indonesia. Ore bodies are associated with Miocene andesite, dacite and quartz diorite porphyrite. To constrain ore genesis and mineralization significance, a detailed study was recently conducted examining these deposits, which included detailed field observation, petrographic study, petrochemistry, sulfur isotope analyses, zircon U–Pb dating, and fluid inclusion analysis. The results include the following findings. 1) Ore types have been identified as porphyry, a quartz–sulfide vein, and structure-controlled alteration rocks. 2) In host rocks, zircon LA–ICP-MS U–Pb dating of quartz diorite porphyrite, amphibole tuff breccia and andesite yield ages of 17.1 ± 0.4 Ma, 17.1 ± 0.4 Ma and 17.5 ± 0.3 Ma, respectively. 3) Fluid inclusions in the quartz from ore are given priority to liquid and gas–liquid phases, and their components are of the NaCl–H2O system with homogenization temperatures of 240–320 °C, salinities of 14–17%, densities of 0.85–0.95 g/cm3, and fluid pressure values between 4.1 and 46.8 MPa, corresponding to metallogenic depths from 150 to 1730 m. Fluid characteristics are identified as similar to those of high sulfur epithermal deposits. 4) The sulfur isotopic compositions are notably uniform, the δ34S values of wall rocks range from 3.71 to 3.85‰, and the δ34S values of ores vary from 4.90‰ to 6.55‰. The sulfur isotopic composition of ores is similar to that of the wall rocks, indicating a mixed origin of mantle with a sedimentary basement. 5) The trace element patterns of different ore types are similar, which indicates that they originate from the same source. Au deposits primarily occurred during the late magmatic activity. Finally, we have set up the regional metallogenic model, confirming that this gold deposit in the Sunda arc volcanic rock belt belongs to a metallogenic system from porphyry to epithermal type.  相似文献

Formation of the Urals Volcanic-Hosted Massive Sulphide (VHMS) deposits is considered to be related with the intra-oceanic stage of the island arc(s) development in Late Ordovician – Middle Devonian time (ca. 460–385 Ma) based on the biostratigraphic record of ore-hosting sedimentary rocks. However, the known radiometric ages of ore hosting volcanics are very limited. Here we present direct dating results of sulphide mineralisation from the Yaman-Kasy and Kul-Yurt-Tau VHMS deposits using Re-Os isotope systematics showing similar mineralisation ages of 362 ± 9 Ma and 363 ± 1 Ma. These ages coincide with the previous Re-Os dating of the Alexandrinskoe (355 ± 15 Ma) and Dergamysh (366 ± 2 Ma) VHMS deposits. This Late Devonian (Famennian) age corresponds to the late stage of the ‘Magnitogorsk arc – Laurussia continent’ collision event and coincides with a beginning of large scale subduction-related granitoid magmatism. The younger mineralisation age relative to the biostratigraphic ages of host rocks is interpreted as one of the latest episodes of the multi-stage history of VHMS deposits development. Ar-Ar ages of sericites from metasomatic rocks of Barsuchi Log and Babaryk deposits show even younger ages clustering around 345 Ma, and testify another late hydrothermal event in the history of the Urals VHMS deposits.  相似文献

The Jiehe gold deposit, containing a confirmed gold reserve of 34 tonnes (t), is a Jiaojia-type (disseminated/stockwork-style) gold deposit in Jiaodong Peninsula. Orebodies are hosted in the contact zone between the Jurassic Moshan biotite granite and the Cretaceous Shangzhuang porphyritic granodiorite, and are structurally controlled by the NNE- to NE-striking Wangershan-Hedong Fault. Sulphide minerals are composed predominantly of pyrite with lesser amounts of chalcopyrite, galena, and sphalerite. Hydrothermal alteration is strictly controlled by fracture zones, in which disseminated sulfides and native gold are spatially associated with pervasive sericitic alteration. Mineralogical, textural, and field relationships indicate four stages of alteration and mineralization, including pyrite-bearing milky and massive quartz (stage 1), light-gray granular quartz–pyrite (stage 2), quartz–polysulfide (stage 3) and quartz–carbonate (stage 4) stages. Economic gold is precipitated in stages 2 and 3.The Jiehe deposit was previously considered to form during the Eocene (46.5 ± 2.3 Ma), based on Rb-Sr dating of sericite. However, 40Ar/39Ar dating of sericite in this study yields well-defined, reproducible plateau ages between 118.8 ± 0.7 Ma and 120.7 ± 0.8 Ma. These 40Ar/39Ar ages are consistent with geochronological data from other gold deposits in the region, indicating that all gold deposits in Jiaodong formed in a short-term period around 120 Ma. The giant gold mineralization event has a tight relationship with the extensional tectonic regime, and is a shallow crustal metallogenic response of paleo-Pacific slab subduction and lithospheric destruction in the eastern NCC.  相似文献

The Song Hien rift basin is an important metallogenic area in NE Vietnam. This domain consists mainly of Triassic sulfide-rich black shale beds, which play a role as a sedimentary host for various mineral systems such as antimony, mercury and gold-sulfide deposits. Most of gold deposits are hosted in carbonaceous sedimentary rocks, however some deposits, which have similar characteristics, are hosted in fine-grained mafic magmatic rocks. An Ar-Ar isotopic dating of hydrothermal sericite from the sedimentary hosted Bo Va and Khung Khoang gold deposits and intrusion hosted orogenic Hat Han gold deposit yields plateau ages of 184.8 ± 2.1 Ma, 211.63 ± 2.3 Ma, and 209.12 ± 2.3 Ma, respectively. The obtained Ar-Ar ages convincingly show that the orogenic gold deposits in the Song Hien domain were formed in Late Triassic to Early Jurassic, while the age of the Bo Va deposit is at least older than 184.8 ± 2.1 Ma. Loss of argon by volume diffusion, supported by previously reported mineralogical and isotopic features of the Bo Va deposit may suggest that the Jurassic-Cretaceous (Yanshanian) tectonothermal events overprinted some deposits in the Song Hien domain. Formation of gold deposits in the Song Hien domain is linked to the same tectonic event as the Carlin-like gold deposits in SW China and is associated with an extensional tectonic regime that followed continental collision between the Indochina and South China Blocks. The similarity in geology setting and mineral composition of gold deposits of the Song Hien domain and the Golden Triangle region, as well as timing and kinematics of deformation, magmatic features, and stratigraphic sequence and bulk architecture, lead to conclusion that NE Vietnam and SW China is a single metallogenic zone. The study of gold deposits in Vietnam will provide a new data on the metallogenic history of this important part of SE Asia.  相似文献

In South-East Asia, sedimentary basins displaying continental Permian and Triassic deposits have been poorly studied. Among these, the Luang Prabang Basin (North Laos) represents a potential key target to constrain the stratigraphic and structural evolutions of South-East Asia. A combined approach involving sedimentology, palaeontology, geochronology and structural analysis, was thus implemented to study the basin. It resulted in a new geological map, in defining new formations, and in proposing a complete revision of the Late Permian to Triassic stratigraphic succession as well as of the structural organization of the basin. Radiometric ages are used to discuss the synchronism of volcanic activity and sedimentation. The Luang Prabang Basin consists of an asymmetric NE-SW syncline with NE-SW thrusts, located at the contact between Late Permian and Late Triassic deposits. The potential stratigraphic gap at the Permian–Triassic boundary is therefore masked by deformation in the basin. The Late Triassic volcaniclastic continental deposits are representative of alluvial plain and fluvial environments. The basin was fed by several sources, varying from volcanic, carbonated to silicic (non-volcanic). U–Pb dating of euhedral zircon grains provided maximum sedimentation ages. The stratigraphic vertical succession of these ages, from ca. 225, ca. 220 to ca. 216 Ma, indicates that a long lasting volcanism was active during sedimentation and illustrates significant variations in sediment preservation rates in continental environments (from ∼100 m/Ma to ∼3 m/Ma). Anhedral inherited zircon grains gave older ages. A large number of them, at ca. 1870 Ma, imply the reworking of a Proterozoic basement and/or of sediments containing fragments of such a basement. In addition, the Late Triassic (Carnian to Norian) sediments yielded to a new dicynodont skull, attributed to the Kannemeyeriiform group family, from layers dated in between ∼225 and ∼221 Ma (Carnian).  相似文献

The Weilasituo and Bairendaba Zn–Pb–Ag–Cu–(Sn–W) sulphide deposits are located in the southern part of Great Xing'an Range of Inner Mongolia in China. The deposits are located at shallow depths in the newly discovered Weilasituo porphyry hosting Sn–W–Rb mineralization. The mineralization at Weilasituo and Bairendaba consist of zoned massive sulphide veins within fractures cutting the Xilinhot Metamorphic Complex and quartz diorite. The Weilasituo deposit gradually zones from the Cu-rich Zn–Cu sulphide mineralization in the west to Zn-rich Zn–Cu sulphide mineralization in the east. The Bairendaba deposit has a Cu-bearing and Zn-rich core through a transitional zone devoid of copper to an outer zone of Zn–Pb–Ag mineralization. Three main veins contain more than 50 wt.% of the contained metal in the two deposits with their metal ratios displaying a systematic and gradual increase in Zn/Cu, Pb/Zn and Ag/Zn ratios from the western part of Weilasituo to the eastern part of Bairendaba.Three stages of vein-type mineralization are recognized. Early, sub-economic mineralization consists of a variable proportion of euhedral arsenopyrite, pyrite, quartz, and rare wolframite, scheelite, cassiterite, magnetite and cobaltite. This was succeeded by main stage mineralization with economic concentration of zoned Cu, Zn, Pb and Ag sulphide minerals along strike within the veins. The zones consist of the assemblages: (1) pyrrhotite–Fe-rich sphalerite–chalcopyrite(–quartz–fluorite) at west Weilasituo; (2) pyrrhotite–Fe-rich sphalerite–chalcopyrite(–galena–tetrahedrite–quartz–fluorite) at east Weilasituo; (3) pyrrhotite–Fe-rich sphalerite–chalcopyrite(–galena–tetrahedrite–quartz–fluorite) in the centre of Bairendaba; (4) pyrrhotite–Fe-rich sphalerite–galena(–chalcopyrite–tetrahedrite–quartz–fluorite) in the transition zone of Bairendaba; and (5) pyrrhotite–Fe-rich sphalerite–galena–tetrahedrite(–chalcopyrite–falkmanite–argentite–pyrargyrite–quartz–fluorite) in the outer zone at Bairendaba. Post-main ore stage is devoid of sulphides and characterized overprinting of fluorite, sericite, chlorite, illite, kaolinite and calcite.Zircon SHRIMP U–Pb dating, Zircon LA–ICP–MS U–Pb dating, molybdenite Re–Os isochron dating, and muscovite Ar–Ar dating indicate the Beidashan granitic batholith was intruded at 140 ± 3 Ma (MSWD = 3.3), the porphyritic monzogranite from marginal facies of the Beidashan batholith was intruded at 139 ± 2 Ma (MSWD = 0.75), the mineralized quartz porphyry was intruded at 135 ± 2 Ma (MSWD = 0.91), the greisen mineralization occurred at 135 ± 11 Ma (MSWD = 7.2), and the post-main ore stage muscovite deposited at 129.5 ± 0.9 Ma. The new geochronology data show the porphyry Sn–W–Rb and vein-type sulphide mineralization are contemporaneous with granitic magmatism in the region. The metal zonation at the Weilasituo and Bairendaba deposits is a result of progressive metal deposition. This was during the evolution of a metal-bearing fluid along the strike of the veins and during the main stage of ore formation at the upper part of the deep-seated porphyry Sn–W–Rb system. This progressive zonation indicates that the deposits represent end-numbers formed from one ore-forming fluid, which moved from west to east from the porphyry. The metal zonation patterns of the major veins are consistent with metal-bearing fluid entering the system with the precipitation of chalcopyrite proximally and sphalerite, galena and Ag-bearing minerals more distally. We show that the mechanism of metal deposition is therefore controlled by thermodynamic conditions resulting in the progressive separation of sulphides from the metal-bearing fluid. The temperature gradient between the inflow zone and the outflow zone appears to be one of the key parameters controlling the formation of the metal zonation pattern. The sulphide precipitation sequence is consistent with a low fS2 and low fO2 state of the acidic metal-bearing fluid. The metal zonation pattern provides helpful clues from which it is possible to establish the nature of fluid migration and metal deposition models to locate a possible porphyry mineralization at depth in the Great Xing'an Range, which is consistent with the geology of the newly discovered porphyry Sn–W–Rb system.  相似文献

In an active fold-and-thrust belt, sediment is commonly transported in the form of debris and colluviums, and the ages of such deposits can be important for seismic hazard assessment. These sediments are mainly transported by high concentration flows that travel very short distances before burial, and therefore have very few opportunities for daylight exposure and bleaching, which limits the application of luminescence dating in such environments. Luminescence studies on modern debris flow deposits and channel sediments in central Taiwan indicate a mixed population of bleached and unbleached grains. The well bleached grains constitute a small proportion of the sediments and could only be identified using the single grain dating technique; doing single aliquot analysis may result in overestimation of the age of such sediments by 3–25 ka. The data reveal that outwash sediments are better bleached than debris flow sediments. Our results show that quartz that has experienced partial resetting can be used for luminescence dating only through the use of the single grain technique.  相似文献

The sediments deposited on the northern margin of Greater India during the Paleocene allow the timing of collision with the Spontang Ophiolite, the oceanic Kohistan–Dras Arc and Eurasia to be constrained. U–Pb dating of detrital zircon grains from the Danian (61–65 Ma) Stumpata Formation shows a provenance that is typical of the Tethyan Himalaya, but with a significant population of grains from 129 ± 7 Ma also accounting for ∼15% of the total, similar to the synchronous Jidula Formation of south central Tibet. Derivation of these grains from north of the Indus Suture can be ruled out, precluding India’s collision with either Eurasia or the Kohistan–Dras before 61 Ma. Despite the immediate superposition of the Spontang Ophiolite, there are no grains in the Stumpata Formation consistent with erosion from this unit. Either Spontang obduction is younger than previously proposed, or the ophiolite remained submerged and/or uneroded until into the Eocene. The Mesozoic grains correlate well with the timing of ∼130 Ma volcanism in central Tibet, suggesting that this phase of activity is linked to extension across the whole margin of northern India linked to the separation of India from Australia and Antarctica at that time. Mesozoic zircons in younger sedimentary rocks in Tibet suggest a rapid change in provenance, with strong erosion from within or north of the suture zone starting in the Early Eocene following collision. We find no evidence for strongly diachronous collision from central Tibet to the western Himalaya.  相似文献

In this paper, we present U–Pb ages and trace element compositions of titanite from the Ruanjiawan W–Cu–Mo skarn deposit in the Daye district, eastern China to constrain the magmatic and hydrothermal history in this deposit and provide a better understanding of the U–Pb geochronology and trace element geochemistry of titanite that have been subjected to post-crystallization hydrothermal alteration. Titanite from the mineralized skarn, the ore-related quartz diorite stock, and a diabase dike intruding this stock were analyzed using laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICPMS). Titanite grains from the quartz diorite and diabase dike typically coexist with hydrothermal minerals such as epidote, sericite, chlorite, pyrite, and calcite, and display irregular or patchy zoning. These grains have low LREE/HREE and high Th/U and Lu/Hf ratios, coupled with negative Eu and positive Ce anomalies. The textural and compositional data indicate that titanite from the quartz diorite has been overprinted by hydrothermal fluids after being crystallized from magmas. Titanite grains from the mineralized skarn are texturally equilibrated with retrograde skarn minerals including actinolite, quartz, calcite, and epidote, demonstrating that these grains were formed directly from hydrothermal fluids responsible for the mineralization. Compared to the varieties from the quartz diorite stock and diabase dike, titanite grains from the mineralized skarn have much lower REE contents and LREE/HREE, Th/U, and Lu/Hf ratios. They have a weighted mean 206Pb/238U age of 142 ± 2 Ma (MSWD = 0.7, 2σ), in agreement with a zircon U–Pb age of 144 ± 1 Ma (MSWD = 0.3, 2σ) of the quartz diorite and thus interpreted as formation age of the Ruanjiawan W–Cu–Mo deposit. Titanite grains from the ore-related quartz diorite have a concordant U–Pb age of 132 ± 2 Ma (MSWD = 0.5, 2σ), which is 10–12 Ma younger than the zircon U–Pb age of the same sample and thus interpreted as the time of a hydrothermal overprint after their crystallization. This hydrothermal overprint was most likely related to the emplacement of the diabase dike that has a zircon U–Pb age of 133 ± 1 Ma and a titanite U–Pb age of 131 ± 2 Ma. The geochronological results thus reveal two hydrothermal events in the Ruanjiawan deposit: an early one forming the Wu–Cu–Mo ores related to the emplacement of the quartz diorite stock and a later one causing alteration of the quartz diorite and its titanite due to emplacement of diabase dike. It is suggested that titanite is much more susceptible to hydrothermal alteration than zircon. Results from this study also highlight the utilization of trace element compositions in discriminating titanite of magmatic and hydrothermal origins, facilitating a more reasonable interpretation of the titanite U–Pb ages.  相似文献

The Western foreland basin in Taiwan originated through the oblique collision between the Luzon volcanic arc and the Asian passive margin. Crustal flexure adjacent to the growing orogenic load created a subsiding foreland basin. The sedimentary record reveals progressively changing sedimentary environments influenced by the orogen approaching from the East. Based on sedimentary facies distribution at five key stratigraphic horizons, paleogeographic maps were constructed. The maps highlight the complicated basin-wide dynamics of sediment dispersal within an evolving foreland basin. The basin physiography changed very little from the middle Miocene (∼12.5 Ma) to the late Pliocene (∼3 Ma). The transition from a passive margin to foreland basin setting in the late Pliocene (∼3 Ma), during deposition of the mud-dominated Chinshui Shale, is dominantly marked by a deepening and widening of the main depositional basin. These finer grained Taiwan derived sediments clearly indicate increased subsidence, though water depths remain relatively shallow, and sedimentation associated with the approach of the growing orogen to the East.In the late Pleistocene as the shallow marine wedge ahead of the growing orogen propagated southward, the proximal parts of the basin evolved into a wedge-top setting introducing deformation and sedimentation in the distal basin. Despite high Pleistocene to modern erosion/sedimentation rates, shallow marine facies persist, as the basin remains open to the South and longitudinal transport is sufficient to prevent it from becoming overfilled or even fully terrestrial. Our paleoenvironmental and paleogeographical reconstructions constrain southward propagation rates in the range of 5–20 km/Myr from 2 Ma to 0.5 Ma, and 106–120 km/Myr between late Pleistocene and present (0.5–0 Ma). The initial rates are not synchronous with the migration of the sediment depocenters highlighting the complexity of sediment distribution and accumulation in evolving foreland basins.  相似文献

The Niassa Gold Belt, in northernmost Mozambique, is hosted in the Txitonga Group, a Neoproterozoic rift sequence overlying Paleoproterozoic crust of the Congo–Tanzania Craton and deformed during the Pan-African Orogeny. The Txitonga Group is made up of greenschist-facies greywacke and schist and is characterized by bimodal, mainly mafic, magmatism. A zircon U–Pb age for a felsic volcanite dates deposition of the sequence at 714 ± 17 Ma. Gold is mined artisanally from alluvial deposits and primary chalcopyrite-pyrite-bearing quartz veins containing up to 19 ppm Au have been analyzed. In the Cagurué and M’Papa gold fields, dominantly N–S trending quartz veins, hosted in metagabbro and schist, are regarded as tension gashes related to regional strike-slip NE–SW-trending Pan-African shear zones. These gold deposits have been classified as mesozonal and metamorphic in origin. Re–Os isotopic data on sulfides suggest two periods of gold deposition for the Cagurué Gold Field. A coarse-crystalline pyrite–chalcopyrite assemblage yields an imprecise Pan-African age of 483 ± 72 Ma, dating deposition of the quartz veins. Remobilization of early-formed sulfides, particularly chalcopyrite, took place at 112 ± 14 Ma, during Lower Cretaceous Gondwana dispersal. The ~483 Ma assemblage yields a chondritic initial 187Os/188Os ratio of 0.123 ± 0.058. This implies a juvenile source for the ore fluids, possibly involving the hosting Neoproterozoic metagabbro. The Niassa Gold Belt is situated at the eastern end of a SW–NE trending continental-scale lineament defined by the Mwembeshi Shear Zone and the southern end of a NW–SE trending lineament defined by the Rukwa Shear Zone. We offer a review of gold deposits in Zambia and Tanzania associated with these polyphase lineaments and speculate on their interrelation.  相似文献

The east-central part of Jilin Province, located on the eastern continental margin of northeast China along the eastern Xing–Meng orogenic belt, hosts more than 10 large- and medium-scale Mo deposits. The major types of mineralization include porphyry, skarn, and quartz vein. To better understand the formation and distribution of porphyry Mo deposits in this area, we investigated the geological characteristics of the deposits and applied molybdenite Re–Os isotope dating to constrain the age and source of mineralization. The results, combined with existing data, show that: (a) the Daheishan Mo deposit yields an isochron age of 168.7 ± 3.1 Ma; (b) the Shuangshan Mo deposit yields an isochron age of 171.6 ± 1.6 Ma; (c) the Liushengdian Mo deposit yields a weighted mean model age of 168.7 ± 1.4 Ma; (d) the Jiapigou Mo deposit yields a weighted mean model age of 196 ± 4 Ma; and (e) the Sancha Mo deposit yields a weighted mean model age of 183.1 ± 1.8 Ma. Therefore, the Mo mineralization occurred in the Early–Middle Jurassic (196–167 Ma), during the late stages of magmatism or during the late evolution of magma chambers. The geodynamic setting at this time was dominated by subduction of the paleo-Pacific Plate beneath the Eurasian continent. The rhenium content of molybdenite varies from 0.2 to 99.7 ppm, suggesting that the ore-forming materials may come from a crustal source or a mixed crustal and mantle source.  相似文献

We present U–Pb zircon age determinations of two Variscan ultrapotassic plutonic rocks from the Moldanubian Zone (Bohemian Massif). Equant, multifaceted zircons without inherited cores from a two-pyroxene–biotite quartz monzonite of the Jihlava Pluton yielded a precise age of 335.12 ± 0.57 Ma, interpreted as dating magma crystallization. The majority of both tabular and prismatic grains from the amphibole–biotite melagranite (“durbachite”) from the T?ebí? Pluton plot along a discordia intersecting the concordia at 334.8 ± 3.2 Ma; prismatic zircon grains commonly contain inherited cores and yield an upper intercept age of 2.2 Ga, indicating early Proterozoic inheritance. We therefore suggest that both types of the ultrapotassic plutonic rocks from the Bohemian Massif crystallized at ca 335 Ma, and the previously published ages higher than ca 340 Ma for “durbachites” were biased by a small amount of unresolved inheritance. The ultrapotassic magma emplacement in the middle crust was related to rapid exhumation of a deep crustal segment, considered as isothermal decompression between high-pressure (~ 340 Ma) and medium-pressure (~ 333 Ma) stages recorded in granulites. Mineral assemblages as well as external and internal zircon morphology suggest that the Jihlava intrusion was deep and dry, whereas the T?ebí? intrusion was shallow and wet. Low εHf values of zircons (? 4.4 to ? 7.5) in both rock types suggest a similar source with a predominant crustal component. However, inherited grains in the T?ebí? melagranite indicate its contamination with crustal material during emplacement, and thus possibly a slower rate of exhumation and/or of magma ascent through the crust.  相似文献

The Urals can be regarded as a significant Cu-Mo-porphyry province, hosting over 30 porphyry deposits. Although their geological structure and ore-forming processes have been studied in great detail, uncertainty remains about their age and related geotectonic setting. In this contribution we report for the first time the Re-Os dating of molybdenites from three Cu-Mo porphyry deposits, namely Kalinovskoe, Mikheevskoe and Talitsa. Three molybdenite samples from the Kalinovskoe deposit yield Silurian Re-Os ages ranging from 427.1 Ma to 431.7 Ma (mean 429.8 ± 4.8 Ma; 2σ standard deviation), and a Re–Os isochron age of 430.7 ± 1.3 Ma (MSWD = 0.63), which coincides with previous U-Pb zircon dating of ore-hosting diorites from the same ore field (427 ± 6 Ma). The molybdenite from the Mikheevskoe deposit gives Re-Os ages of 357.8 ± 1.8 Ma and 356.1 ± 1.4 Ma (mean 357.0 ± 2.4 Ma; Carboniferous/Tournaisian), which corresponds to previous U-Pb dating of zircons from the diorite hosting porphyry deposit (356 ± 6 Ma). The molybdenite from Talitsa Mo-porphyry deposit yields the youngest Re-Os ages of 298.3 ± 1.3 and 299.9 ± 2.9 Ma (mean 299.1 ± 2.3 Ma) at Carboniferous-Permian boundary. Thus, the studied Cu and Mo porphyry deposits are not synchronous and belong to distinct tectonic events of the Urals.  相似文献

The Yunnan–Guizhou–Guangxi “golden triangle” is considered to be one of the regions hosting Carlin-like gold deposits in China. Gold deposits in this region can be grouped into lode type that are controlled by faults and layer-like type controlled by stratigraphy. Arsenopyrite is one of the major gold-bearing minerals in these deposits. Rhenium–Os isotopic dating of arsenopyrite from the lode type Lannigou and Jinya and the layer-like type Shuiyindong gold deposits yields isochron ages of 204 ± 19 Ma, 206 ± 22 Ma, and 235 ± 33 Ma, respectively. The data suggest that the Carlin-like gold deposits formed in Late Triassic to Early Jurassic, which is clearly earlier than the ca. 100–80 Ma acid to ultra-basic magmatism in this part of southwestern China. The ages are consistent with ore formation during a period of post-collisional lateral transpression, which is similar to that of the Carlin-like gold deposits in western Qinling of China, but quite different from Carlin-type gold deposits in Nevada, U.S.A.  相似文献

The New England Orogen of easternmost Australia is dominated by suites of Palaeozoic to earliest Mesozoic rocks that formed in supra-subduction zone settings at Gondwana's eastern margin. On the northern New South Wales coast at Rocky Beach, Port Macquarie, a serpentinite mélange carries rare tectonic blocks of low-grade, high-pressure, metamorphic rocks derived from sedimentary and igneous protoliths. Dominant assemblages are glaucophane + phengite ± garnet ± lawsonite ± calcite ± albite blueschists and lawsonite-bearing retrogressed garnet + omphacite eclogites. In some blocks with sedimentary protoliths, eclogite forms folded layers within the blueschists, which is interpreted as Mn/(Mn + Fe) compositional control on the development of blueschist versus eclogite assemblages. Review of previous studies indicates pressure–temperature conditions of 0.7–0.5 GPa and ≤ 450 °C. Three samples of high-pressure metasedimentary rocks contain Archaean to 251 ± 6 Ma (Permo-Triassic) zircons, with the majority of the grains being Middle Devonian to Middle Carboniferous in age (380–340 Ma). Regardless of age, all grains show pitting and variable rounding of their exteriors. This morphology is attributed to abrasion in sedimentary systems, suggesting that they are all detrital grains. New in situ metamorphic zircon growth did not develop because of the low temperature (≤ 450 °C) of metamorphism. The Permo-Triassic, Devonian and Carboniferous zircons show strong heavy rare earth element enrichment and negative europium anomalies, indicating that they grew in low pressure igneous systems, not in a garnet-rich plagioclase-absent high pressure metamorphic environment. Therefore the youngest of these detrital zircons provides the maximum age of the metamorphism. A titanite + rutile porphyroblast within an eclogite has a U–Pb age of 332 ± 140 Ma (poor precision due to very low U abundances of mostly < 1 p.p.m.) and provides an imprecise direct age for metamorphism. In the south of the Port Macquarie area, the Lorne Basin ≥ 220 Ma Triassic sedimentary and volcanic rocks unconformably overlie serpentinite mélange, and provide the minimum age of the high-pressure metamorphism. Our preferred interpretation is that the 251 Ma zircons are detrital and thus the Port Macquarie high-pressure metamorphism is constrained to the end of the Permian–Early Triassic. Emplacement of the serpentinite mélange carrying the Rocky Beach high-pressure rocks might have been due to docking of a Permian oceanic island arc (represented by the Gympie terrane in southern Queensland?) and an Andean-style arc at the eastern Australian margin (expressed in the New England Orogen by 260–230 Ma north-south orientated magmatic belts). Alternatively, if the 251 Ma grains are regarded as having grown in thin pegmatites, then the dominant Devonian–Carboniferous detrital population still indicates a maximum age for the high pressure metamorphism of ca. 340 Ma. A ≤ 340 Ma age of metamorphism would still be much younger than the previously suggested ca. 470 Ma (Ordovician) age, which was based on Ar–Ar dating of phengites.  相似文献

Geomorphic mapping and stratigraphic analysis of a lake core document the late Quaternary glacial history of the Central and Eastern Massifs of the Picos de Europa, northwestern Spain. The distribution of glacial deposits indicates that at their most advanced positions glaciers occupied 9.1 km2, extended as far as 7 km down-valley and had an estimated equilibrium-line altitude (ELA) ranging between 1666 and 1722 m. Radiocarbon dating of sediment deposited in a lake dammed by moraines of this advance show that the maximum glacial extent was prior to 35,280 ± 440 cal yr BP. This advance was followed by two subsequent but less extensive late Pleistocene advances, recorded by multiple moraines flanking both massifs and sedimentary characteristics in the lake deposits. The last recognized glacial episode is the 19th-century maximum extent of small Little Ice Age glaciers in the highest cirques above 2200 m.  相似文献

The southeastern part of the Nanling metallogenic province, China is host to numerous granite-hosted vein-type hydrothermal uranium deposits. The geology and geochemistry of these deposits have been extensively studied. However, accurate and precise ages for the uranium mineralization are scarce because the uranium minerals in these deposits are usually fine grained, and may have formed in several stages. Therefore, the ages previously obtained by the bulk dating techniques are possibly a mixed age.The Xianshi uranium deposit, located in the southeastern part of the Guidong granite complex, is a major uranium deposit in South China. The uranium mineralization from this deposit is mainly fine grained uraninite in quartz or calcite veins which are spatially associated with the Cretaceous mantle-derived mafic dykes. Micro-Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analyses indicate that the dominant uranium mineral occurs as a rare form of uraninite (U3O7). Three distinct generations of uranium minerals have been identified based on petrographic and field relations. Stage 1 uraninite has the lowest UO2 and highest PbO contents whereas Stage 3 uraninite has the highest UO2 and lowest PbO contents.Uraninite from the Xianshi deposit was dated using an in-situ SIMS U–Pb dating technique. The results show three distinct age groups: 135 ± 4 Ma, 113 ± 2 Ma and 104 ± 2 Ma, which are in excellent agreement with the ages of three episodes of mantle-derived mafic dykes. Therefore, the Xianshi uranium deposit has experienced at least three hydrothermal events that are responsible for the deposition of uranium ores, which are genetically related to the emplacement of three sets of mafic dykes.  相似文献

The Paraguay belt comprises a thick sedimentary succession deposited on the southwestern border of the Amazonian Craton and the Rio Apa Block. The base of the succession in the southern Paraguay belt is marked by a level of glacially derived deposits from the Puga Formation associated with banded iron formations, which has been assumed to be end-Cryogenian in age (635 Ma) by previous authors is spite of the lack of geochronological data. Here we present the first U–Pb SHRIMP ages on detrital zircon grains separated from the matrix of six samples of these diamictites two different localities (Puga Hill and Bodoquena area). U–Pb ages determined from two samples (ca. 130 grains) of Puga Hill show a large variation between 970 Ma and 2100 Ma. Rocks with these ages can be found in the Amazonian Craton suggesting that it is the most probable source of the sediments. Detrital zircons (ca. 230 grains) from the Bodoquena area (about 200 km south of Puga Hill) range from 706 to 1990 Ma. The 1760 Ma source is significantly more important in these samples, comprising more than 70% of analyzed grains, and indicates provenance from the adjacent Rio Apa Block. The youngest zircon was dated at 706 ± 9 Ma, thus constraining the maximum depositional age for the Puga Formation. Possible sources for this younger population could be either the juvenile Mara Rosa magmatic arc in the Brasilia belt, or the rocks from the Laurentian external fold belts located to the west of the sampled area in Neoproterozoic paleogeographic reconstructions. The maximum depositional age of the diamictites (and associated BIFs), together with cap carbonate carbon and strontium isotope data (δ13C = ? 5.0 and 87Sr/86Sr = 0.7077) in Puga Hill, indicate that they were deposited after 700 Ma, suggesting that they may represent the end-Cryogenian event.  相似文献
