An empirical model has been developed to reproduce the drift of the spectrum recorded by the EIS on Hinode using instrumental temperatures and relative motion of the spacecraft. The EIS spectrum shows an artificial drift in wavelength
dimension in sync with the revolution of the spacecraft, which is caused by temperature variations inside the spectrometer.
The drift amounts to 70 km s−1 in Doppler velocity and introduces difficulties in velocity measurements. An artificial neural network is incorporated to
establish a relationship between the instrumental temperatures and the spectral drift. This empirical model reproduces observed
spectrum shift with an rms error of 4.4 km s−1. This procedure is robust and applicable to any spectrum obtained with EIS, regardless of the observing field. In addition,
spectral curvatures and spatial offset in the north – south direction are determined to compensate for instrumental effects. 相似文献

The Fukusen No. 1 vein is located in the southeastern part of the Yamada deposit, Hishikari epithermal gold deposits, southern Kyushu, Japan. 40Ar/39Ar plateau ages of adularia from the margin and the center of the Fukusen vein are determined to be 0.617 ± 0.024 Ma and 0.606 ± 0.009 Ma, respectively. The Fukusen No. 1 vein shows banding structure composed mainly of quartz, adularia and clay minerals. Colloform texture is displayed by cryptocrystalline to amorphous silica material that is associated with fine-grained electrum and sulfides near the center of the vein. Pyrite in the Fukusen No. 1 vein often shows acicular shape resulting from inversion from marcasite. Near the center of the vein, primary marcasite occurs associated with colloform texture of silica. The Fukusen No.1 vein preserves primary texture and materials which were deposited from the ore-forming hydrothermal solution. The Fukusen No. 1 vein was formed in a short period and is one of the youngest veins in the Hishikari deposits. 相似文献

To better understand the vertical distribution of phytoplankton in the tropical and subtropical North Pacific, we used fast repetition rate fluorometry to investigate the photo-physiological condition of the phytoplankton assemblage in this region between February and March 2007. Along 155°E, between the equator and 24°N, the peak of fluorescence (F m), an indication of the deep chlorophyll maximum (DCM), was deeper than the top of the nitracline and occurred at the 2.4 ± 1.3 % (mean ± SD) light depth (relative to 0 m). The photochemical efficiency (F v/F m) and effective absorption cross-section of photosystem II (σPSII) were low at the surface but increased rapidly at depths between the top of the nitracline (40–138 m) and the DCM (70–158 m), an indication that the photo-physiological condition of the phytoplankton improved below the top of the nitracline. The depth of the maximal F v/F m [Z(F v/F m max)] was 18–32 m deeper than the DCM and corresponded to the 0.8 ± 0.2 % light depth. The values of F v/F m at the Z(F v/F m max) were 20 % higher than those at the DCM and averaged 0.48 ± 0.01. These results suggest that the phytoplankton assemblage beneath the DCM had a high potential photosynthetic performance capacity and was growing by using the very low ambient light in this region. 相似文献

Hydrological and hydrochemical conditions in the Kamchatka Strait are considered, the computation of geostrophic flows is carried out, and estimations of the water exchange between the Bering Sea and the Pacific Ocean through this strait are made on the basis of the analysis of data obtained during the trip of the research vessel Miraii in August, 2004. According to the results of computations, the volume transport from the Bering Sea to the Pacific Ocean made up 10.2 Sv; mass transport, 10.4 × 109 kg/s; salt transport, 0.35 × 106 kg/s. The estimated value of heat transport through the strait is 11.4 × 1015 W. The Eastern Kamchatka Current carries oxygen and biogenic elements through the strait: 1222, 28, 380, and 1036 kmol/s for oxygen, phosphates, nitrates, and silicon, respectively. In total, the Bering Sea is the source of oxygen and biogenic elements for the northern part of the Pacific Ocean in the upper 500-m layer. 相似文献

A new cloud parameterization based on prognostic equations for the subgrid-scale fluctuations in temperature and total water
content is introduced for global climate models. The proposed scheme, called hybrid prognostic cloud (HPC) parameterization,
employs simple probability density functions (PDFs) to the horizontal subgrid-scale inhomogeneity, allowing them to vary in
shape in response to small-scale processes such as cumulus detrainment and turbulent mixing. Simple tests indicate that the
HPC scheme is highly favorable as compared to a diagnostic scheme in terms of the cloud fraction and cloud water content under
either uniform or non-uniform forcing. The relevance of the HPC scheme is investigated by implementing it in an atmospheric
component model of the climate model MIROC with a coarse resolution of T42. A comparison of the short-term integrations between
the T42 model and a global cloud resolving model (GCRM) reveals that the HPC scheme can reproduce, to a certain degree, the
subgrid-scale variance and skewness of temperature and total water content simulated in the GCRM. It is also found that the
HPC scheme significantly alters the climatological distributions in cloud cover, precipitation, and moisture, which are all

The parameters of the magnetic flux distribution inside low-latitude coronal holes (CHs) were analyzed. A statistical study of 44 CHs based on Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO)/MDI full disk magnetograms and SOHO/EIT 284?Å images showed that the density of the net magnetic flux, B net, does not correlate with the associated solar wind speeds, V x . Both the area and net flux of CHs correlate with the solar wind speed and the corresponding spatial Pearson correlation coefficients are 0.75 and 0.71, respectively. A possible explanation for the low correlation between B net and V x is proposed. The observed non-correlation might be rooted in the structural complexity of the magnetic field. As a measure of the complexity of the magnetic field, the filling factor, f(r), was calculated as a function of spatial scales. In CHs, f(r) was found to be nearly constant at scales above 2 Mm, which indicates a monofractal structural organization and smooth temporal evolution. The magnitude of the filling factor is 0.04 from the Hinode SOT/SP data and 0.07 from the MDI/HR data. The Hinode data show that at scales smaller than 2 Mm, the filling factor decreases rapidly, which means a multifractal structure and highly intermittent, burst-like energy release regime. The absence of the necessary complexity in CH magnetic fields at scales above 2 Mm seems to be the most plausible reason why the net magnetic flux density does not seem to be related to the solar wind speed: the energy release dynamics, needed for solar wind acceleration, appears to occur at small scales below 1 Mm. 相似文献

Hubble Space Telescope observations revealed that Saturn's equatorial jet at the cloud level blows at ∼275 m s−1 today, approximately half the ∼470 m s−1 wind during the Voyager flybys in 1980-1981. Radiative transfer calculations estimate the clouds to be significantly higher today than in 1980. The higher clouds make it difficult to observationally isolate any true slowdown from the vertical wind shear because Voyager and Cassini observations show that the winds become slower with altitude. Here, we test the hypothesis that the large equatorial storm in 1990 called the Great White Spot (GWS) decelerated the equatorial jet. We first use order of magnitude estimates to show: (1) if the GWS triggers vertical momentum redistribution, a minor speed change in the troposphere can lead to a substantial stratospheric wind speed change; (2) storm-triggered turbulent mixing slows a prograde equatorial jet; and (3) a prograde equatorial jet inhibits turbulent mixing in latitude. To test whether a GWS-like large storm decelerates the equatorial jet, we perform numerical experiments using the Explicit Planetary Isentropic Coordinate (EPIC) atmosphere model. Our simulation results are consistent with our order of magnitude predictions. We show that the storm excites waves, and the waves transport westward momentum from the troposphere to the stratosphere and decelerate the equatorial jet by as much as ∼40 m s−1 at the 10-mbar level. However, our results show that the storm's effect is too weak at the cloud levels to halve the jet's speed from ∼470 m s−1. Our results suggest that a combination of higher clouds and a true slowdown is necessary to explain the apparent equatorial jet slowdown. Electron density in the ionospheric F region estimated by a Langmuir probe has been found to be much lower than those by other techniques. It is shown that this is due to the effect of surface contamination of Langmuir probe electrodes. Latitudinal characteristics of ELF hiss in mid- and low-latitudes have been statistically studied by using ELF/VLF electric field spectra (50 Hz-30 kHz) from ISIS-1 and -2 received at Kashima station, Japan from 1973 to 1977. Most ISIS ELF/VLF data observed in mid- and low-latitude include ELF hiss at frequencies below a few kHz. The ELF hiss has the strongest intensity among VLF phenomena observed by the ISIS electric dipole antenna in mid- and low-latitudes, but the ELF hiss has no rising structure like the chorus in the detailed frequency-time spectrum. The ELF hiss is classified into the steady ELF hiss whose upper frequency limit is approximately constant with latitude and the ELF hiss whose upper frequency limit increases with latitude. These two types of ELF hiss occur often in medium or quiet geomagnetic activities. Sometimes there occurs a partial or complete lack of ELF hiss along an ISIS pass.Spectral shape and bandwidth of ELF hiss in the topside ionosphere are very similar to those of plasmaspheric hiss and of inner zone hiss. The occurrence rate of steady ELF hiss is about 0.3 near the geomagnetic equator and decreases rapidly with latitude around L = 3. Hence it seems likely that ELF hiss is generated by cyclotron resonant instability with electrons of several tens of keV in the equatorial outer plasmasphere beyond L = 3.Thirty-seven per cent of ELF hiss events received at Kashima station occurred during storm times and 63% of them occurred in non-storm or quiet periods. Sixty-seven per cent of 82 ELF hiss events during storm times were observed in the recovery phase of geomagnetic storms. This agrees with the previous satellite observations of ELF hiss by search coil magnetometers. The electric field of ELF hiss becomes very weak every 10 s, which is the satellite spin period, in mid- and low-latitudes, but not near the geomagnetic equator. Ray tracing results suggest that waves of ELF hiss generated in the equatorial outer plasmasphere propagate down in the electrostatic whistler mode towards the equatorial ionosphere, bouncing between the LHR reflection points in both the plasmaspheric hemispheres. 相似文献

Abstract An 800 m borehole was drilled near the Nojima Fault, on which a strike–slip larger then 1 m occurred during the 1995 Hyogo-ken Nanbu earthquake ( M = 7.2). Crustal activity near the fault has been observed since May 1996 using a multicomponent instrument installed at the bottom of the borehole. Data of three components of strain, two components of tilt and temperature observed from May 1996 to December 1998 were analyzed. Long-term changes of strain and tilt show a north-east–south-west extension and southwards subsidence. As for the Earth tides and atmospheric effect, orientation of the principal axis of strain was mainly east-west and orientation of the maximum subsidence was mainly north-south. The observational data of strain had variations corresponding to a change in temperature at a depth of 800 m. The thermal expansion coefficient of the crust was calculated to be approximately 2.0 × 10−6 /°K. 相似文献
