Abstract

The meridional heat transport across a latitude circle in a model ocean is calculated by using a general circulation model with a coarse grid, a medium grid and a fine grid capable of resolving the mesoscale eddies in order to show to what extent this transport depends on grid size. Although the grid size strikingly affects the current velocities, it has almost no effect upon the meridional heat transport.  相似文献

Kosmochlor (NaCrSi2O6) was synthesized by the flux method from melts along the join Na2O·2 SiO2-Na2O·Cr2O3·4 SiO2 at 1000° C in air, and isolated by dissolving the glassy matrix with hydrofluoric and perchloric acids. The join CaMgSi2O6-NaCrSi2O6 was studied at 1 atmosphere in air by the quenching technique at temperatures between 900° and 1450° C, using mixtures of kosmochlor and diopside crystals or diopside glass as starting materials. The phases are diopside solid solution, kosmochlor, spinel (Mg-chromite), eskolaite (Cr2O3) and glass. The maximum solubility of kosmochlor in diopside is 24 wt percent at 1140° C, while diopside is not soluble at all in kosmochlor, resulting in the existence of a wide range of immiscibility. Petrologic significance of the results is discussed.  相似文献

The behaviour of tetrahedrally coordinated and octahedrally coordinated Cr3+ ions in diopside is discussed from the study on the join CaMg-Si2O6-CaCrCrSiO6. The molecule CaCrCrSiO6 decomposes into uvarovite+eskolaite and its maximum solubility in diopside is 6.7 wt percent at 940 ° C. Crystalline phases are diopside ss (ss is abbreviation of solid solution), uvarovite ss, wollastonite ss, spinel and eskolaite. The diopside ss is blue in colour. Its optical spectra were measured in the wavelenght range of 325–2600 nm, and assigned after tetrahedral configuration Td and octahedral configuration Oh. It is estimated that octahedral Cr3+ ions are in high spin state, while tetrahedral Cr3+ ions may be probably in low spin state. The t and B are 10,300–10,370 cm–1 and 429–432 cm–1. The CFSE for tetrahedral low spin Cr3+ ions is nearly the same as that for octahedral high spin Cr3+ ions. The ionic radii of tetrahedral low spin Cr3+ ions calculated are 0.47–0.53 Å, shrinked from the radius of octahedral high spin Cr3+ ion (0.615 Å) as much as 14–24 percent. This paper presents an effective analysis procedure for the dynamic soil-structure interaction problem considering not only the sliding and separation phenomena but also the non-linear behaviour of soil by the finite element method. Soil is assumed to be an elasto-plastic material and the contact surface between the soil and structure is modelled by the joint element. The load transfer method is adopted to carry out dynamic non-linear response analysis. The method is applied to the response analysis of a nuclear reactor building resting on the ground surface. The effects of non-linear behaviour of soil on the safety against sliding of the structure are examined. The numerical computations reveal the following results: that the non-linear behaviour of soil reduces the response of the system and the magnitude of sliding of the structure, and that the safety against sliding obtained by the proposed method is higher than the safety obtained by classical methods. This implies the possibility of a more rational and economical design of large structures; it can be said that the proposed method provides useful information for the stability analysis of important and large structures.  相似文献

In an attempt to detect streaming potentials induced by subsurface water flows, we have observed the horizontal electric field (self-potential) variations across stationary electric dipoles near geothermal wells in the Takinoue geothermal area, Japan. We observed variations of self-potential which seem to be associated with the water flows in the aquifer, induced by turning on and off the flow of the wells. Amplitudes of the variations are 3–5 mV across 60–200 m dipoles, and can be explained well with a proposed electrokinetic model: the streaming potential coefficient of − 15 mV/bar and/or the ζ-potential of −50 to −100 mV in the aquifer are appropriate to explain the observed data by the model. The obtained electrokinetic coupling coefficients are in situ ones and determined for crustal rock-water system under high temperature (˜200°C) condition. The present results, together with a laboratory study by Ishido and Mizutani (1981), give fundamental information on electrokinetic coupling coefficients in the earth's interior, and are very important when we make quantitative interpretations of self-potentials generated by geothermal activity on the basis of electrokinetic effects.  相似文献

The system CaMgSi2O6CaAl2SiO6CaFeAlSiO6 has been studied in air at 1 atm. The phase assemblage at subsolidus temperatures in the CaMgSi2O6-rich portion is Cpx + An + Mel and that in the CaMgSi2O6-poor portion Cpx + An + Mel + Sp. At subsolidus temperatures the sigle-phase field of clinopyroxene increases with an increase in the CaFeAlSiO6 component of the system. The Al2O3 content of clinopyroxene, however, continues to increase beyond the single-phase field and attains at least 16.04 wt.% Al2O3 with 3.9 wt.% Fe2O3. The stability field of fassaite in the system over a range of pressures and oxygen fugacities has been estimated from data in the literature as well as the present data. The CaFeAlSiO6 content of fassaite is dependent on oxygen fugacity, but is not influenced by pressure. The stability field is strongly influenced by oxygen fugacity at low and high pressure, and decreases with decreasing oxygen fugacity. Clinopyroxenes in both volcanic and metamorphic rocks from various localities, when plotted on the CaMgSi2O6CaAl2SiO6CaFeAlSiO6 triangle, show that there is no compositional gap between diopside and fassaitic pyroxene in metamorphic rocks, and that the fassaitic pyroxene in alkalic rocks becomes richer in both CaAl2SiO6 and CaFeAlSiO5 components as crystallization proceeds. These results agree with those obtained in the experimental study.  相似文献

A new technique is presented with which to investigate slope stability during strong earthquake motion. This technique is based on a non-linear finite element method that uses a joint element to express non-linear behaviour and the progressive failure of a slope. Joint elements are arranged at every interface between soil elements. Accordingly, each soil element is allowed to move in directions parallel, perpendicular and rotational to neighbouring elements; consequently, they express the sliding and separation at any interface between the soil elements. The method was used to investigate the stability of an existing slope during strong earthquake motions. Preliminary static analyses were made, and their results were compared with results obtained with Janbu's method in order to check the validity of our proposed method. The dynamic analyses also took into account the material non-linearity of the soil. The process of progressive failure was examined for a slope whose material constants are known. The influence of input excitations on slope stability is discussed in detail. The method also has been used to assess the effectiveness of a countermeasure used to prevent slope failure.  相似文献

Abstract: The Shin-Ohtoyo Cu–Au deposit is located in the Harukayama district, 20 km west of Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. Both acid-type disseminated and adularia–quartz–type vein Au mineralizations have been recognized within a small distance of less than 500 m in the district. Mineralogical characteristics of sulfide ores from the Shin-Ohtoyo deposit have been proved to be polymetallic. Ore minerals containing Sn, V, Bi and Te are recognized. Nine ore types are recognized in terms of characteristic mineral assemblage; (1) chalcedonic quartz veinlets in silicified zone around the deposit, (2) bismuthinite, emplectite, friedrichite and tetrahedrite, (3) an unnamed Cu–Sn–Fe–Zn sulfide, colusite-series minerals, stannoidite, emplectite and tetrahedrite, (4) bournonite, Se-bearing galena and tetrahedrite, (5) luzonite/famatinite and Ag-bearing tetrahedrite, (6) colusite-series minerals, emplectite, aikinite and tetrahedrite/goldfieldite, (7) luzonite/famatinite, colusite-series minerals, mawsonite and tetra–hedrite/goldfieldite, (8) enargite, luzonite/famatinite and tetrahedrite, and (9) colusite-series minerals and tetrahedrite. The first occurrence of friedrichite and stibiocolusite from Japan are reported. The chemical formula of the unnamed phase corresponds to Cu6(Cu, Fe, Zn)Sn3S10. Sulfur isotopic ratios (δ34S) of sulfides from the stockpile range from –0. 5% to +1. 9%, and those from drill cores recovered by Metal Mining Agency of Japan (MMAJ) vary from –2. 7% to +0. 8%. Sulfur isotopic ratio of barite in a cavity in the silicified tuff breccia collected from the stock pile yields +27. 1%, while that of barite collected from MMAJ core is +21. 7%. Sulfur isotopic thermometry applied for a pair of barite (+21. 7%) and associated pyrite (+1. 8%) indicates about 300°C. High–Te tetrahedrite composition from both the chalcedonic quartz vein in the silicified zone around the Shin-Ohtoyo deposit and the polymetallic sulfide ores from the adit of the deposit, suggests that the Au mineralization in the former is attributed to a hydrothermal system marginal to the polymetallic mineralization.  相似文献

This data note introduces a database of long-term daily total precipitation and stream discharge data for seven forested watersheds in Japan that have been continuously monitored by the Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute. Three of the watersheds started data collection in the 1930s. Forest cover across the sites ranges from cool to warm temperate regions with the latitude spanning from 31 to 44° N and annual precipitation ranging from 1200 to 3000 mm yr−1. The effects of vegetation change via clearcutting, thinning and forest fire (among other stressors) on stream discharge can be analysed from the long-term observation sites. Moreover, this multi-site dataset allows for inter- and intra-site comparisons of annual water loss (difference of annual precipitation and stream discharge). These long-term datasets can provide comprehensive insights into the effects of climate change and other stressors on forested ecosystems, not only in Japan but across a spectrum of forest types, if combined with other long-term records from other forested watersheds across the world.  相似文献

The Poboya Prospect lies along the North Northwest ‐ South Southeast Palu‐Koro Fault Zone in the central part of the West Sulawesi Arc. The geology of the area consists of the Palu Metamorphic Complex overlain by the Paleogene‐Neogene Tinombo Formation of volcanosedimentary rocks, the Celebes Molasse sediment, and Late Cenozoic granitic rocks. Petrography, scanning electron microscope with energy‐dispersive spectrometry (SEM‐EDS), electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA), and fluid inclusion microthermometry were carried out to examine vein textures, ore mineralogy, and characteristics of the ore‐forming fluid responsible for mineralization in the River Reef Zone, the Poboya Prospect. Textures of quartz‐carbonate veins in the River Reef Zone include massive micro‐comb, moss, colloform, crustiform, mosaic, feathery, flamboyant, lattice bladed, ghost bladed, parallel bladed, and saccharoidal textures representing primary growth, recrystallization, and replacement. The homogenization temperature and fluid salinity are 240–250°C and 0.3–0.7 wt% NaCl eq., respectively. Ore minerals precipitated in the early stage consist of electrum, naumannite‐aguilarite, chalcopyrite, pyrite, marcasite, sphalerite, and pyrrhotite. Apart from pyrrhotite, these ore minerals were also precipitated in the late stage along with selenopolybasite, freibergite, argyrodite, pyrargyrite, and galena. Selenium more preferably occurs as the crystallographic replacement of sulfur in naumannite‐aguilarite, argyrodite, pyrargyrite, selenopolybasite, and freibergite instead of as independent selenide minerals. The low‐sulfidation epithermal deposit in the River Reef Zone, the Poboya Prospect, illustrates the potential of the West Sulawesi Arc, particularly along the Palu‐Koro Fault Zone, to host epithermal gold mineralization.  相似文献
