Gejiu is geographically located near Gejiu city, SW China. It is one of the largest tin-polymetallic districts in the world and contains approximately 3 million tons (Mt) of Sn and smaller quantities of Cu, Pb, and Zn. The deposit primarily yields three different types of ore: skarn-hosted ore, basalt-hosted stratiform ore, and carbonate-hosted stratiform ore. Kafang is one of the primary ore deposits in the Gejiu district and is an unusual occurrence hosted in basaltic rocks. Genetic models of the Kafang deposit suggest that it is related either to Anisian (Lower stage of Middle Triassic) Gejiu basalts or to Cretaceous Gejiu granite. In this study, we performed zircon SIMS U–Pb dating, major and trace element analyses, and Sr–Nd–Pb isotopic analyses for the Gejiu basalts and S isotopic analyses for stratiform Cu ore. Our results and previous studies are used to interpret the petrogenesis of the Gejiu basalts and the origin of the basalt-hosted stratiform Cu deposit. The SIMS zircon U–Pb analyses of the Gejiu basalts yield an age of 244.4 Ma. The trace element ratios of the Gejiu basalts are similar to those of ocean island basalt and have positive εNd(t) values (ranging from 0.6 to 2.5) and uniform (87Sr/86Sr)i values (ranging from 0.70424 to 0.70488). These ratios are close to those of the Permian Emeishan flood basalt. Thus, the Gejiu basalts may represent coeval volcanisms within the plate involving remelting of the Emeishan plume head through a stress relaxation process after the main plume event. The Pb and S isotopic compositions of the Gejiu basalts and the stratiform Cu ores indicate that the source of Cu and S is primarily derived from the Gejiu basalts. However, the age of sulfide mineralization (84.2–79.6 Ma) and the age of hydrothermal alteration (85.5–81.9 Ma) are temporally consistent with the age of the Cretaceous granite emplacement (85.5–83.3 Ma). From a petrological and geochemical study, we determine that the Gejiu basalts may have been subjected to pervasive granite-related hydrothermal alteration during the emplacement of granite. These processes increase the K and Mg contents of basalt and probably caused the formation of the Cu ores. Thus, the Kafang stratiform Cu deposit can be considered as a granite-related hydrothermal deposit.  相似文献

The Dalucao deposit, located in western Sichuan Province, southwestern China, in the western part of the Yangtze Craton, is one of the largest and most extensive rare earth element (REE) deposits in the Himalayan Mianning–Dechang REE belt. Moreover, the Dalucao deposit is the only deposit identified in the southern part of the belt. The Dalucao deposit contains the No. 1, 2, and 3 orebodies; the No. 1 and 3 orebodies are both hosted in two breccia pipes, located in syenite–carbonatite host rocks. Both pipes have elliptical cross-sections at the surface, with long-axis diameters of 200–400 m and short-axis diameters of 180–200 m; the pipes extend downwards for > 450 m. No. 1 and No. 3 have total thickness varying between 55 and 175 m and 14 to 58 m respectively. The REE mineralization is associated with four brecciation events, which are recorded in each of the pipes. The ore grades in the No. 1 and 3 orebodies are similar, and consist of 1.0%–4.5% rare earth oxides (REOs). The No. 1 orebody is characterized by a Type I mineral assemblage (fluorite + barite + celestite + bastnäsite), whereas the No. 3 orebody is characterized by a Type II assemblage (fluorite + celestite + pyrite + muscovite + bastnäsite + strontianite). Argon (40Ar/39Ar) dating of hydrothermal muscovite intergrown with REE minerals in typical ores from the No. 1 and 3 orebodies yielded similar ages of 12.69 ± 0.13 and 12.23 ± 0.21 Ma, respectively, which suggest that both mineral assemblages formed coevally, rather than in paragenetic stages. Both ages are also similar to the timing of intrusion of the syenite–carbonatite complex (12.13 ± 0.19 Ma). The ore-mineral assemblages occur in breccias, veinlets, and in narrow veins. The ore veinlets, which usually show a transition to mineralized breccia or brecciated ores, are commonly enveloped by narrow veins and stringer zones with comparable mineral assemblages. The brecciated ores form 95% of the volume of the deposit, whereas brecciated ores are only a minor constituent of other deposits in the Mianning–Dechang REE belt. The carbonatite in the syenite–carbonatite complexes contains high concentrations of S (0.07–2.32 wt.%), Sr (16,500–20,700 ppm), Ba (3600–8400 ppm), and light REEs (LREE) (2848–10,768 ppm), but is depleted in high-field-strength elements (HFSE) (Nb, Ta, P, Zr, Hf, and Ti). The syenite is moderately enriched in large-ion lithophile elements (LILE), Sr (155–277 ppm), and Ba (440–755 ppm). The mineralized, altered, and fresh syenites and carbonatites exhibit similar trace element compositions and REE patterns. Brecciation events, and the Dalucao Fault and its secondary faults around the deposit, contributed to the REE mineralization by facilitating the circulation of ore-forming fluids and providing space for REE precipitation. Some hydrothermal veins composed of coarse-grained fluorite and quartz are distributed in the syenite–carbonatite complex. The oxygen isotope compositions of ore-forming fluids in equilibrium with quartz at 215 °C are − 4.95‰ to − 7.45‰, and the hydrogen isotope compositions of fluid inclusions in coarse-grained quartz are − 88.4‰ to − 105.1‰. The syenite–carbonatite complex and carbonatite are main contributors to the mineralization in the geological occurrence. Thus, the main components of the ore-forming fluids were magmatic water, meteoric water, and CO2 derived from the decarbonation of carbonatite. According to the petrographic studies, bastnäsite mineralization developed during later stages of hydrothermal evolution and overprinted the formation of the brecciated fluorite–quartz hydrothermal veins. As low-temperature isotope exchange between carbonates of the carbonatite and water-rich magmatic fluids will lead to positive shifts in δ18O values of the carbonates, C–O isotopic compositions from the bulk primary carbonatite to hydrothermal calcite and bastnäsite changed (δ18OV-SMOW from 8.0‰ to 11.6‰, and δ13C V-PDB from − 6.1 to − 8.7‰). According to the chemical composition of syenite and carbonatite, REE chloride species are the primary complexes for the transport of the REEs in the hydrothermal fluids, and the presence of bastnäsite and parisite means the REE were precipitated as fluorocarbonates. High contents of Sr, Ba and S in the syenite–carbonatite complex led to the deposition of large amount of barite and celestite.  相似文献

We report an investigation of the effect of different single grain OSL behaviours on multiple-grain (single aliquot) De estimates. This was done by creating ‘synthetic aliquots’ in which signals are summed from collections of individual grains. The samples used were taken from aeolian linear dune sediments, from sites located in the Kalahari. We note this is a type of sample for which single multiple-grain aliquots are routinely used for dating. Several grain behavioural types were identified in our samples but the only grain type that systematically affected multiple-grain De estimates was the ‘over-saturating’ type (the case where the natural signal (Ln/Tn) is significantly greater than the regenerated Lx/Tx signal at saturation), the presence of which lead to higher estimates of De. The magnitude of this effect is controlled by the contribution of ‘over-saturating’ grains to the total light sum of the multiple-grain aliquot and the maximum increase observed in this study was ∼15 Gy. Of the four samples investigated here, inter-aliquot variations in the signal contribution of ‘over-saturating’ grains led to a significant increase in dispersion in just one of the samples. More generally, the presence/absence of these grains is considered to be a likely source of significant ‘intrinsic’ scatter in single aliquot dating and likely to broaden multiple-grain De distributions. We suggest all samples are screened for this behaviour before single aliquot dating is attempted.  相似文献

This study presents the results of the palynological and diatom analyses of the sediment core recovered in Hoton-Nur Lake (48°37′18″N, 88°20′45″E, 2083 m) in 2004. Quantitative reconstruction of the Holocene vegetation and climate dynamics in the semiarid Mongolian Altai suggests that boreal woodland replaced the primarily open landscape of northwestern Mongolia at about 10 kyr BP (1 kyr = 1000 cal yr) in response to a noticeable increase in precipitation from 200–250 mm/yr to 450–550 mm/yr. A decline of the forest vegetation and a return to a predominance of open vegetation types occurred after 5 kyr BP when precipitation sums decreased to 250–300 mm/yr. Prior to 11.5 kyr BP diatom concentrations are relatively low and the lake is dominated by planktonic Cyclotella and small Fragilariaceae, suggesting the existence of a relatively deep and oligotrophic/mesotrophic lake. The great abundance of Staurosirella pinnata from the beginning of the record until 10.7 kyr BP might imply intensified erosion processes in the catchment and this is fully consistent with the presence of scarce and dry vegetation and the generally arid climate during this period. From about 10.7 kyr BP, more planktonic diatom taxa appeared and increased in abundance, indicating that the lake became more productive as diatom concentration increased. This change correlates well with the development of boreal woodland in the catchment. Decrease in precipitation and changes in the vegetation towards steppe are reflected by the rapid increase in Aulacoseira distans from about 5 kyr BP. The Holocene pollen and diatom records do not indicate soil and vegetation cover disturbances by the anthropogenic activities, implying that the main transformations of the regional vegetation occurred as a result of the natural climate change. Our reconstruction is in agreement with the paleomonsoon records from China, demonstrating an abrupt strengthening of the summer monsoon at 12 kyr BP and an associated increase in precipitation and in lake levels between 11 and 8 kyr BP, followed by the stepwise attenuation of the monsoon circulation and climate aridization towards the modern level. The records from the neighboring areas of Kazakhstan and Russia, situated west and north of Hoton-Nur, demonstrate spatially and temporally different Holocene vegetation and climate histories, indicating that the Altai Mountains as a climate boundary are of pivotal importance for the Holocene environmental and, possibly, habitation history of Central Asia.  相似文献

嘉黎断裂是一条横贯青藏高原东南部的大型走滑断裂,在印度和欧亚板块碰撞前后通过调整应力平衡发挥着重要作用.本文根据前人对嘉黎断裂的研究成果,从地质学和地球物理学的角度,系统地总结分析嘉黎断裂带构造背景、壳幔结构、晚第四纪和现今的活动性质和速率.基于地质学方法,搜集前人在测年方面的研究结果,限定断裂的活动年限以及活动速率.同时在东段的北侧分支嘎龙寺附近,采用光释光测年法增加两个测年点,完善活动速度资料,并对断裂自西向东不同部位的走滑速率和错动断距进行对比分析.基于地球物理学观测资料,分析地震活动性和壳幔物质的速度结构、各向异性等参数,利用波形拟合方法,新增18个3~5级地震的震源机制解.结果表明,嘉黎断裂现今的构造变形主要表现为右旋走滑运动,但是在不同的分段具有显著的差异性,新生的西兴拉—达木分支是地震最活跃的区域.在此基础上,探讨青藏高原的构造演化过程,分析东构造结地区构造运动的稳定性,为川藏铁路雅安—林芝段工程建设地质灾害风险评估提供必要参考资料.  相似文献

Himalayan orogenic belt is the highest and largest continental collision and subduction zone on the Earth. The Himalayan orogenic belt has produced frequent large earthquakes and caused several geohazards due to landslides and housing collapse, having an impact on the safety of life and property along a length of over 2500 km. Here we took three earthquake clusters as examples, which occurred at Nepal Himalaya, eastern Himalayan syntaxis and western Himalayan syntaxis, respectively. Here we calculated the earthquake locations and fault plane solutions based on the waveform data recorded by seismic stations deployed in source areas by the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. We found that at the Nepal Himalayan, the Main Himalayan Thrust is the major tectonic structure for large earthquakes to occur. At the eastern Himalayan syntaxis, most earthquakes are of the reverse or strike-slip faulting. The major tectonic feature is the combination of the NE-dipping thrust with the southeastern escape of the Tibetan plateau. At the western Himalayan syntaxis, intermediate-depth earthquakes are active. These observations reveal the geometry of the deep subduction of the continental plate with steep dipping angle.  相似文献

Using simultaneous scaling, soil spatial variability of hydraulic functions can be described from a single set of scaling factors. The conventional scaling approach is based on empirical curve fitting, without paying much attention to the physical significance of the scaling factors. In this study, the concept of simultaneous scaling of the soil water retention and unsaturated hydraulic conductivity functions is applied to a physically based scaling theory. In this approach, it is assumed that soils are characterized by a lognormal pore-size distribution, which leads directly to lognormally distributed scaling factors. To test this concept, a total of 143 undisturbed soil samples were collected from two soil depths (25 and 50 cm), with each depth divided into two subsets based on the median soil capillary pressure head value, as determined from the lognormal pore-size distribution assumption. Moreover, the theory was compared with the conventional simultaneous scaling method. Both the conventional and physically based simultaneous scaling method performed equally well for all four subsets, as determined from the reduction in weighted root mean squared residual (WRMSR) values after scaling. We showed that the theoretical interpretation of the lognormal scaling factor distribution was applicable to simultaneous scaling of soil hydraulic functions.  相似文献

A combination of δ 13C values with C/N ratios in suspended matter has been used to examine the seasonal relationship between C4 and C3 vegetation along the Loess Plateau, NW China. The C isotopic composition of suspended organic matter in rivers, together with C/N ratios can differentiate between soil and plant material, and can be used to estimate the relative contributions of soil organic C and plant litter to the suspended matter. The relationship between C isotopic composition and C/N ratios indicates that the samples are a mixture of two end members: (1) modern soils with relatively constant δ 13C values, low C content and low C/N ratios; (2) plant litter with varying δ 13C values, high C content and high C/N ratios. The results reflect the seasonal distribution of C4/C3 vegetation within the area studied, as part of the Loess Plateau. The abundance of C4 grasses is about 20% for the current summer vegetation ecosystem in the eastern part of the Loess Plateau. Hence, the use of δ 13C values and C/N ratios of suspended matter in rivers and modern soil may be useful for reflecting seasonal distribution of C4/C3 vegetation in catchments. This could be a useful tool for distinguishing between catchments for GIS studies, and long term planning for ecological management of catchment areas.  相似文献

The cave region of Siebenhengste, situated north of Lake Thun (Switzerland), contains one of the most important cave systems in the world, which extends from 500 to 2000 m a.s.l. It has a complex multiphase history. The recognized speleogenetic phases are related to spring level and to old valley floors. The six most recent phases were investigated in St. Beatus cave and Bärenschacht. They suggest a progressive Quarternary Aare valley incision to 890, 805, 760, 700, 660, and 558 m a.s.l. that is confirmed by statistical analysis of small caves. U/Th-datings of flowstone allowed a timing of the valley deepening phases: the valley bottom was at 760 m already before 350 ka, the one at 700 m was active between 235 and 160 ka. The cave morphology in the upper part of the cave system was coupled with sedimentological observations. This combination leads to the hypothesis that the uppermost (oldest) cave parts were already created in the Miocene, during and after the last deposition of the Molasse. Ideas about the evolution of the paleorelief suggest that today's Aare valley is a product of glacial erosion, and that the old Aare valley shifted its position several times between the Miocene and today.  相似文献

We analyzed the spatial local accuracy of land cover (LC) datasets for the Qiangtang Plateau, High Asia, incorporating 923 field sampling points and seven LC compilations including the International Geosphere Biosphere Programme Data and Information System (IGBPDIS), Global Land cover mapping at 30 m resolution (GlobeLand30), MODIS Land Cover Type product (MCD12Q1), Climate Change Initiative Land Cover (CCI-LC), Global Land Cover 2000 (GLC2000), University of Maryland (UMD), and GlobCover 2009 (Glob-Cover). We initially compared resultant similarities and differences in both area and spatial patterns and analyzed inherent relationships with data sources. We then applied a geographically weighted regression (GWR) approach to predict local accuracy variation. The results of this study reveal that distinct differences, even inverse time series trends, in LC data between CCI-LC and MCD12Q1 were present between 2001 and 2015, with the exception of category areal discordance between the seven datasets. We also show a series of evident discrepancies amongst the LC datasets sampled here in terms of spatial patterns, that is, high spatial congruence is mainly seen in the homogeneous southeastern region of the study area while a low degree of spatial congruence is widely distributed across heterogeneous northwestern and northeastern regions. The overall combined spatial accuracy of the seven LC datasets considered here is less than 70%, and the GlobeLand30 and CCI-LC datasets exhibit higher local accuracy than their counterparts, yielding maximum overall accuracy (OA) values of 77.39% and 61.43%, respectively. Finally, 5.63% of this area is characterized by both high assessment and accuracy (HH) values, mainly located in central and eastern regions of the Qiangtang Plateau, while most low accuracy regions are found in northern, northeastern, and western regions.
