Arrival times from a fast, quiet pulsar can be used to obtain accurate determinations of pulsar parameters. In the case of
the millisecond pulsar, PSR 1937 + 214, the remarkably small rms residual to the timing fit indicates that precise measurements
of position, proper motion and perhaps even trigonometric parallax will be possible (Backer 1984). The variances in these
parameters, however, will depend strongly on the nature of the underlying noise spectrum. We demonstrate that for very red
spectrai.e. those dominated by low-frequency noise, the uncertainties can be larger than the present estimates (based on a white-noise
model) and can even grow with the observation period. The possibility of improved parameter estimation through prewhitening’
the data and the application of these results to other pulsar observations are briefly discussed. The post-fit rms residual
of PSR 1937 + 214 may be used to limit the energy density of a gravitational radiation background at periods of a few months
to years. However, fitting the pulsar position and pulse-emission times filters out significant amounts of residual power,
especially for observation periods of less than three years. Consequently the present upper bound on the energy density of
gravitational waves Ωg <3 × 10-4

, though already more stringent than any other available, is not as restrictive as had been previously estimated. The present
limit is insufficient to exclude scenarios which use primordial cosmic strings for galaxy formation, but should improve rapidly
with time.

Based on the undisturbed, finite thickness disk gravitational potential, we carried out 3-D Monte Carlo simulations of normal pulsars. We find that their scale height evolves in a similar way for different velocity dispersions (σv): it first increases linearly with time, reaches a peak, then gradually decreases, and finally approaches a stable asymptotic value. The initial velocity dispersion has a very large influence on the scale height. The time evolution of the scale height is studied. When the magnetic decay age is used as the time variable, the observed scale height has a similar trend as the simulated results in the linear stage, from which we derive velocity dispersions in the range 70- 178km s-1, which are near the statistical result of 90 - 270km s-1 for 92 pulsars with known transverse velocities. If the characteristic age is used as the time variable, then the observed and theoretical curves roughly agree for t > 108 yr only if σv < 25km s-1. 相似文献

We present the results of observations of the pulsar PSR B0329+54 at 0.327, 1.5, 2.3, 4.8 and 8.4 GHz during 1999 between 03–12 and 06–08, using the 25-m radio telescope of NAOC Urumqi Station. The spectrum shows a bend, the spectral index is 1.59 at the low frequency end, and 2.45 at the high frequency end. The angular width of the average pulse profile and the angular separation between two weak peaks both decrease with increasing frequency. 相似文献

正常脉冲星和亳秒脉冲星都表现出计时噪声.脉冲星的自转变化是造成计时噪声的重要原因之一.通过联合新疆天文台南山25m射电望远镜和澳大利亚Parkes64m射电望远镜的脉冲到达时间数据,使用脉冲星计时的方法对PSRJ1539--5626、J1832- -0827和J1847- -0402的自转进行分析研究,它们在到达时间残差上均表现出很强的计时噪声,低频噪声的功率谱分别符合谱指数为-6、-6、 -4.5的幂律,功率谱强度分别为1.77 x 10-17 yr3、4.43x 10-18 yr3和2.09x 10-18yr3.这3颗脉冲星在自转频率1阶导数的变化上都表现出较为明显的振荡,振荡幅度分别为0.61(3)x 10-15s-2、0.54(5) x 10-16s-2和0.11(2) x 10-15s-2 (其中括号内数字代表末位数字的有效误差,下同),自转频率1阶导数振荡变化的相对大小分别是0.75(5)%、0.035(9)%、 0.076(2)%.利用Parkes 64 m射电望远镜的观测数据,分别获得了这3颗脉冲星积分脉冲轮廓及其半高全宽,发现3颗脉冲星的脉冲轮廓的宽度均有一定 的变化,变化幅度分别为0.0028(6)、0.00059(3)和0.00011(4)个相位.没有探测到自转减慢率的变化与辐射变化之间存在明显的相关性. 相似文献

随着下一代射电天文望远镜的不断改进和发展,脉冲星巡天观测将发现数百万个脉冲星候选体,这给脉冲星的识别和新脉冲星的发现带来了巨大挑战,迅速发展的人工智能技术可用于脉冲星识别.使用Parkes望远镜的脉冲星数据集(The High Time Resolution Universe Survey,HTRUS),设计了一个14层深的残差网络(Residual Network,ResNet)进行脉冲星候选体分类.在HTRUS数据样本中,存在非脉冲星候选体(负样本)的数目远远大于脉冲星候选体(正样本)数目的样本非均衡问题,容易产生模型误判.通过使用过采样技术对训练集中的正样本进行数据增强,并调整正负样本的比例,解决了正负样本非均衡问题.训练过程中,使用5折交叉验证来调节超参数,最终构建出模型.测试结果表明,该模型能够取得较高的精确度(Precision)和召回率(Recall),分别为98%和100%,F1分数(F1-score)能够达到99%,每个样本检测完成只需要7 ms,为未来脉冲星大数据分析提供了一个可行的办法. 相似文献

脉冲星周期跃变是一种罕见的现象,是研究其内部结构的探针。针对2019年2月~12月国家授时中心昊平观测站40 m射电望远镜在脉冲星计时观测中监测Crab脉冲星的数据,采用脉冲星计时方法,用TEMPO2拟合程序进行分析。结果表明,Crab脉冲星在2019年7月23日(MJD 58687)附近发生了一次周期跃变现象,该跃变自转增量为Δvg=5.33(4)×10-7Hz,自转变化量为Δvg/v=17.9(1)×10-9,并伴随着恢复系数Q~0.88的指数恢复过程。此次Crab脉冲星周期跃变的监测及处理,证实了40 m射电望远镜对脉冲星的监测性能,同时为研究周期跃变的产生机理积累了样本。 相似文献
