The Middle Devonian Gauja Formation in the Devonian Baltic Basin preserves tide‐influenced delta plain and delta front deposits associated with a large southward prograding delta complex. The outcrops extend over 250 km from southern Estonia to southern Lithuania. The succession can be divided into 10 facies associations recording distributary channel belts that became progressively more tide influenced when traced southwards towards the palaeo‐shoreline, separated by muddy intra‐channel areas where deposition was characterized by crevasse splays, delta plain lakes, abandoned channel deposits and tidal gullies. Tidal currents influenced deposition over the entire delta plain, extending up to 250 km from the contemporary shoreline. Tidal facies on the upper delta plain differ from those on the lower delta plain and delta front. In the former case, deposition from river currents was only occasionally interrupted by tidal currents, e.g. during spring tides, resulting in mica and mudstone drapes, and distinctive graded cross‐stratification. The lower delta plain was dominated by tidal facies and tidal currents regularly influenced deposition. There was a change from progradation to aggradation from the lower to the upper part of the Gauja Formation coupled with a vertical decrease in tidal influence and a decrease in coarse‐grained sediment input. The Gauja Formation contrasts with established models for tide‐influenced deltas as the active delta plain was not restricted by topography. The shape of the delta plain, the predominant southward (basinward)‐directed palaeocurrents, and the thick sandstone succession, show that although tidal currents strongly influenced deposition at bed scale, rivers still controlled the overall morphology of the delta and the larger‐scale bedforms. In addition, there are no signs of wave influence, indicating very low wave energy in the basin. The widespread tidal influence in the Devonian Baltic Basin is explained by changes in the wider basin geometry and by local bathymetrical differences in the basin during progradation and aggradation of the delta plain, with changes in tidal efficiency accompanying the change in basin geometry produced by shoreline progradation.  相似文献

Sediment masses and heavy-metal accumulation rates for the recent deposits of the Göta älv estuary were calculated using a GIS. Total masses of 4,000 t Zn and >20 t Hg were recorded, of which 367 t Zn and >0.72 t Hg occur in the inner estuary, the Göteborg harbour, and 3,657 t Zn and 19 t Hg are in the outer estuary, suggesting a high trapping efficiency of the estuary. The accumulation rates are 5 g m-2 year-1 Zn and 0.01 g m-2 year-1 Hg in the harbour, and 1.5 g m-2/year-1 Zn and 0.007 g m-2 year-1 Hg in the outer estuary. The Zn and Hg accumulation rates are highest close to the outlet of a sewage treatment plant, and decrease by a factor of 5 for Zn, and a factor of 2 for Hg in the outer estuary. The accumulation rates in the outer estuary decrease after 1980 A.D.  相似文献

恢复力(resilience)一词自1973年进入生态学领域以来,在生态环境和自然资源管理以及社会经济可持续发展相关研究和实践中得到了广泛应用。随着人类对全球气候变化及其影响的认识不断加深,气候恢复力也逐渐成为应对气候变化的一个重要理念。本文首先系统阐述了气候恢复力概念的实质及与其密切相关的其他几个重要概念,然后在系统评估恢复力概念及其内涵的历史演变基础上,提出了一个实施气候恢复力建设的通用框架。尽管气候恢复力涉及行动主体的不同方面,而且还关系到不同部门和/或不同层次/尺度的优先选项,但希望此框架仍能对各部门、各尺度/层次的气候恢复力建设提供重要借鉴。最后以极端天气气候灾害管理为例,通过对英国皇家学会发布的《极端天气恢复力》报告进行述评,并对中国应对极端天气气候灾害的管理框架进行分析,进一步探讨了该框架的实用性。  相似文献

In response to the shortcomings of the EU's Common Fisheries Policy, the European Commission has suggested regionalising fisheries management. Examples already exist of the more decentralised management of certain fisheries. Since 2007, the Commission has requested national eel management plans (EMPs) from all EU eel-fishing nations, giving national management bodies considerable freedom to develop their own EMPs. To examine the prerequisites for decentralisation, the Swedish EMP was chosen as a case. The European eel is critically endangered due to overfishing and environmental degradation. Analysis of the Swedish EMP reveals serious flaws: the conflict between the objectives of species and fishery preservation has not been clarified nor is the prioritisation clear. The plan has not been critically reviewed and alternative options are not considered. Though the basic data are uncertain, this uncertainty is viewed as support for not adopting any safety margin. Management is therefore directed towards mitigating the negative effects of fishing and other human activities rather than realising the conservation objective. The efficiency of the various protection measures is also disputable; for example, translocation is problematic, as translocated (i.e., stocked) eels display impaired navigational abilities. Another problematic aspect of this conservation strategy is the slow implementation of the EMP. In conclusion, this study emphasises the necessity of legal and social science as well as natural science research to evaluate the efficiency and implementation of fishery management.  相似文献

The change of cloud droplet spectra can modify the microphysics and radiative processes of the atmosphere, which in turn affects surface precipitation. In this paper, the impact of cloud droplet spectral change (CDSC) on mesoscale precipitation is studied by simulating two cases, a South China Storm on June 8, 1998 and a Yangtze River Storm on July 22, 2002, and employing the MM5V3 with newly developed, dual-parameterized explicit moisture scheme coupled to. The results show that CDSC has a slight influence on rainfall distribution/pattern, but can significantly change the precipitation intensity, especially the position and intensity of the precipitation centers. The effects of CDSC are more distinct in the daytime and have an obvious diurnal cycle on rain rate. Precipitation increase (decrease) due to CDSC is ascribed to the relative upper radiative cooling (heating) and lower radiative heating (cooling) in the daytime atmosphere.  相似文献

利用中国825个气象站点1961—2016年的逐日地表温度和气温观测资料,系统分析了中国地区地气温差(地表温度减气温)的时空分布以及变化趋势。结果表明,中国多年平均的年地气温差西部大部地区及华南部分地区在2.5℃以上,而中东部大部地区在2.5℃以下。其中春、夏季全国各地地气温差均为正值,且总体呈经向型分布,西高东低;秋、冬季中国各地地气温差总体呈纬向型分布,南高北低,尤其是冬季北方部分地区为负值。年内,中国区域平均各月地气温差均为正值,其中1月份和12月份相对较小,6—8月份(夏季)相对较大。不同地区地气温差的年内分布特征有所不同,西藏地区地气温差年平均值为全国最大,最大值出现在雨季来临前的5月份;东北、华北、黄淮、西北及内蒙古地区最大值均出现在雨季来临前的6月份;江淮、江汉、江南、华南地区地气温差最大值均出现在雨季过后的7月份或8月份;西南地区年内各月地气温差变化相对较小,在雨季之前的5月和雨季之后的8月出现2次峰值,呈双峰型分布。1961—2016年,中国区域平均地气温差4月和4—10月上升趋势较明显,而7月和10月变化趋势不明显或略有上升趋势。空间分布上,东北、西北及内蒙古、西藏西部等地平均地气温差有增加趋势,而中东部地区有减小趋势。  相似文献

Tidal measurements and a depth-averaged 2D model are used to examine wave progression and circulation in a long, shallow, micro-tidal lagoon in Sri Lanka. Ranges and phase lags for different tidal constituents are used to calibrate the model. A single drag coefficient, Cd = 0.0032, gives almost perfect agreement with data. Current measurements are used for validation of the model. The lagoon tide consists of a combination of progressive and standing waves, where progressive waves dominate in the outer part and standing waves in the inner. A Lagrangian based particle-tracking method is developed to study tidally and wind induced residence times. If tides were the only factor affecting the residual circulation, the residence time inside the narrowest section would be approximately 100 days. Steady winds (of typical monsoon average) decrease the residence times to 60–90 days. Estuarine forcing due to net freshwater supply is not modelled (due to lack of reliable runoff data), but independent, long-term salinity observations and calculations based on volume and salt conservation during periods of negligible freshwater supply (the lagoon is seasonally hypersaline) indicate residence times ranging from 40 to 80 days. Model derived residence times based on tides alone represent a minimum exchange. Even weak forcing, through winds, excess evaporation or freshwater supply efficiently reduces residence times.  相似文献

In this study,the classification scheme developed by Jenkinson and Collison (1977) based on a typing scheme of Lamb (1950) is applied to obtain circulation types from the mean sea-level pressure on a monthly basis.Monthly mean sea-level pressure data from 1951 to 2002 are used to derive six circulation indices and to provide a circulation catalogue with 27 circulation types.Five major types (N,NW,C,CSW,and SW) which occurred most frequently are analyzed to reveal their relationships with the temperature of Harbin on various time scales.Stepwise multiple regression is used to reconstruct temperature anomaly.The monthly mean rainfall of all types occurring and the composite maps of three major types (C,CSW,and SW) relevant to Harbin's precipitation are studied. The results show that the dominant types in winter are types N and NW.types C,CSW,and SW occur frequently in summer.Types N and NW favor a negative temperature anomaly and correspond to less rainfall,while types C,CSW,and SW often induce a positive temperature anomaly and correspond to more rainfall.Moreover,a successful statistical model can be established with only one of the six indices and large-scale mean temperature.Using the model,77.3% of the total variance in the temperature anomaly between 1951 and 2002 can be reconstructed.Type C has a close relationship with total rainfall and type C precipitation plays a major role in determining the total rainfall of Harbin in recent years.This classification scheme is a statistical downscaling model and its relationships with temperature and precipitation can be used to forecast regional climate.  相似文献

Two detailed bathymetric surveys document the effects of increased turbulence due to jet-propelled ferries and other ship traffic in Göteborg Harbour. Sedimentation is enhanced in areas where the water stratification is disturbed by harbour design and ship traffic. However, accumulation is dependent on bottom conditions, and erosion is prevalent in areas with heavy ship traffic, especially at turning sites. A geostatistical analysis of spatial bathymetric data indicates greater variability but a longer range of dependence between sites within areas of accumulation in comparison with those characterised by erosion or mixed erosion and accumulation. Changes in the geostatistical relationships induced by directing the comparison of sites along or across the channel are also possible to interpret in connection with the sedimentation conditions. Bathymetric variations, mineralogical trends, and contaminant changes support the interpretation of high bottom sediment mobility and the focusing of accumulation and erosion in specific areas.  相似文献
