The purpose of this study was to examine the efficiency of Advanced Space Borne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) data in the discrimination of geological formations and the generation of geological map in the northern margin of the Tunisian desert. The nine ASTER bands covering the visible (VIS), near-infrared (NIR) and short-wave infrared (SWIR) spectral regions (wavelength range of 400–2500 nm) have been treated and analyzed. As a first step of data processing, crosstalk correction, resampling, orthorectification, atmospheric correction, and radiometric normalization have been applied to the ASTER radiance data. Then, to decrease the redundancy information in highly correlated bands, the principal component analysis (PCA) has been applied on the nine ASTER bands. The results of PCA allow the validation and the rectification of the lithological boundaries already published on the geologic map, and gives a new information for identifying new lithological units corresponding to superficial formations previously undiscovered. The application of a supervised classification on the principal components image using a support vector machine (SVM) algorithm shows good correlation with the reference geologic map. The overall classification accuracy is 73 % and the kappa coefficient equals to 0.71. The processing of ASTER remote sensing data set by PCA and SVM can be employed as an effective tool for geological mapping in arid regions.  相似文献

Homogenization in fractured rock analyses is essentially based on the calculation of equivalent elastic parameters. In this paper, a new numerical homogenization method that was programmed by means of a MATLAB code, called HLA-Dissim, is presented. The developed approach simulates a discontinuity network of real rock masses based on the International Society of Rock Mechanics (ISRM) scanline field mapping methodology. Then, it evaluates a series of classic joint parameters to characterize density (RQD, specific length of discontinuities). A pulse wave, characterized by its amplitude, central frequency, and duration, is propagated from a source point to a receiver point of the simulated jointed rock mass using a complex recursive method for evaluating the transmission and reflection coefficient for each simulated discontinuity. The seismic parameters, such as delay, velocity, and attenuation, are then calculated. Finally, the equivalent medium model parameters of the rock mass are computed numerically while taking into account the natural discontinuity distribution. This methodology was applied to 17 bench fronts from six aggregate quarries located in Tunisia, Spain, Austria, and Sweden. It allowed characterizing the rock mass discontinuity network, the resulting seismic performance, and the equivalent medium stiffness. The relationship between the equivalent Young’s modulus and rock discontinuity parameters was also analyzed. For these different bench fronts, the proposed numerical approach was also compared to several empirical formulas, based on RQD and fracture density values, published in previous research studies, showing its usefulness and efficiency in estimating rapidly the Young’s modulus of equivalent medium for wave propagation analysis.  相似文献

The Mida plain, which is part of the North Gabès region (southern Tunisia), is characterized by the deep sandy units of the ‘Continental intercalaire’ (CI) or the limestone of the Lower Senonian. A geophysical survey, by electrical sounding (ES), was undertaken in the studied region to better characterize the deep geological structure of this plain and therefore its aquifer resources potential. The analysis of the results shows that the prospected zone is characterized by the succession of several levels with contrasted resistivities, which are often affected by faults. Among these observed geoelectrical levels, the highly conductor one could host a saline aquifer. Another geoelectrical level corresponding to the resistant bedrock detected at Oudhref horst can contain better-quality water than that of the aquifer detected in the El Mida Graben. In this work, we tried to explain the origin of the salinity of this aquifer. Thus, we hypothesise about a contamination from Jebel Zemlet El Beida through a border fault and another one from the Sebkhet El Hamma. To cite this article: A. Mhamdi et al., C. R. The water table of Teboursouk basin (NW Tunisia), logged in the Eocene limestone, is a relevant hydrological target considering its relatively important volume and good chemical quality. The assessment of its geohydrological potential requires the compilation of geological, stratigraphic, geophysical studies and drilling data. Well logging aims characterization of the petrophysical parameters of aquifer formations as well as possible correlations between boreholes. The interpretations show high variabilities in porosity (from 4 to 42 % related to fracturing) of limestone formation and in salinity (0.7 to 2.3 g/l) of the water table; the latter increase to the Southeast of the basin, which is contaminated by the salt formation. Over 54 Schlumberger electrical soundings (AB?=?400 m) were performed. The interpretation of resistivity distributions at various depths is based on apparent resistivity maps corresponding to different AB spacings. Measured resistivity values were one-dimensionally interpreted. Drilled boreholes and the position of some electrical soundings on geological outcrops have been helpful for electrical data calibration. The generalization of the calibration for all electrical soundings show that the limestones are characterized by high and very contrast resistivity (ρ >22 Ωm), a depth ranging from 0 to 100 m and a thickness of about 70 m, exceeding 200 m per place. These variations are due to the presence of faults which are affecting the basin, and are connected to Eocene lands behind. The compilation of data led to evaluate approximately the groundwater reserves of Teboursouk basin to 130 million of cubic meter.  相似文献

{E}thylene, representative of volatile organic compounds and high photochemical ozone creation potential precursor, has been monitored with a single-ended CO2-TEA laser-based DIAL system using a topographic target. A correlation between ozone concentration and ethylene evolutions in Madrid's urban atmosphere was demonstrated and supported with a basic photochemical smog model. The present work brings additional evidence to the many models which state that ethylene, being a hydrocarbon, has a role to play in the generation of tropospheric ozone.  相似文献

Located between eastern segments of the Atlas and Tell-Rif oro-genic belts, the “Dome zone” of northern Tunisia is characterized by the juxtaposition of various structures that mainly controlled the long geody-namic history of this part of the south-Tethyan Margin. To better understand the organization and deep extension of these structures, gravity data from the Teboursouk key area are proposed. These data include the plotting of Bouguer anomaly map and related parameters such as vertical and horizontal gradients, upward continuation and Euler solution. Compared to geological and structural maps available, they allow the identification of new deep structures and greater precision regarding the characteristics and organization of known ones; consequently, an updated structural pattern is proposed.  相似文献

Located in the northeastern part of Tunisia, Wadi El Bey drains the watershed through farmland, industrial, and urban areas of the region. It serves to discharge treated wastewater of different types. In this work, the variations of the water quality of Wadi El Bey were studied and evaluated, during 2 years (2012–2013), using multivariate statistical techniques such as principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis (CA). In addition, the similarities or dissimilarities among the sampling points were as well analyzed to identify spatial and temporal variations. The results obtained based on the cluster analysis, led to identify three similar water quality zones: relatively polluted (LP), moderately polluted (MP), and highly polluted (HP). The inorganic and organic parameters, temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, chemical oxygen demand, salmonella, and enterococcus, seemed to be the most significant parameters of water quality. Three factors were identified as responsible for the data structure, explaining 60.95% of the total variance. The first factor is the physical and non-organic chemical parameters explaining 23.48% of the total variance. The second and third factors are, respectively, the microbiological (21.26%) and organic-nutrient (16.2%).This study shows that multivariate statistical methods can help the water managers to understand the factors affecting the water quality.  相似文献

The Hmeïma–Boujabeur zone is considered as an important geothermal province for Tunisia. The reef limestone, characterized by intense fracturation and important karstification, confers them the property to be a regional thermal aquifer. A geophysical study based on two complementary geoelectrical methods, the Electrical Sounding (ES) and Magneto-Telluric Sounding (MTS), turned out to be very efficient to provide a complete electrical image of the underground until about 1-km depth.
